Guy kicks things off by talking about Jefferson Shreve running as one of the Republican candidates for Indiana’s 6th Congressional District. Shreve currently claims he is trying to protect the Second Amendment, but he was not trying to protect it when he was running for Indianapolis mayor. The NRA has also given him an ‘F’ rating for his updated NRA rating. However, it is also an integrity issue with Shreve. Guy Relford begins tonight's show talking about the consequential 2008 Heller Supreme Court case which was decided by a slim 5-4 majority. 4 Justices believed that individual citizens did not have the constitutional right to have a firearm to defend themselves in the home. In the 2022 Bruen Supreme Court case, SCOTUS threw out the notion that one must have a "need" to carry a firearm. Guy re-iterated that the Bill of Rights is not the Bill of "Needs". The Supreme Court agrees with this understanding. The Rahimi case being argued in the Supreme Court right now is worrisome because Rahimi is a very unlikable individual. Because of Rahimi's very unsavory character, the concern is that the guarantees that Heller and Bruen brought us may be blurred by Rahimi. Guy provides his opinion on how the Supreme Court may swing on this case.

As a result, Guy wrote a bill that he helped pass that same year that not only provides immunity to those who use legal lethal self-defense, it also provides a deterrent to future frivolous lawsuits as the law states that the loser pays the legal fees of those they sue.

Turns out that Shreve's chief political strategist Mark Lubbers was also Richard Lugar's campaign manager for his failed run for president in 1996. Lugar like Shreve "took on the NRA" and was proud of his vote to repeal "Assault Weapons" in 1994. Lubbers is quoted as saying that the "Assault Weapons" ban he made for Lugar was one of the most memorable ads he's made. Guy has an "Aha" moment when he sees the connection between the campaigns.

Monk's strategy in dealing with mass shooters comes down to time and math. There needs to be an armed good guy that is close, who is willing to use brutal and vicious force against and active shooter.

After a late-night shooting that killed three people last Sunday, the Broad Ripple Village Association sent a letter to Mayor Hogsett asking to make Broad Ripple Avenue a "Gun Free Zone". Guy Relford after the announcement said that he had legal challenge 90% written should the city move ahead with the plan. On his radio show, Guy said that the proposal is in clear violation of the pre-emption act, and that the city has no legal authority to enforce a "Gun Free Zone" in Broad Ripple. The only possible way around the pre-emption act is the so-called "Jim Irsay exception" where private organizer of an event leases property from the city and can prohibit firearms at the event. 

The problem with this strategy is that the proposal from the Broad Ripple would not cover a particular event, the proposal is to cover any typical weekend night in the area. The association appeared to be trying to shoehorn their plan into the exemption of the pre-emption act. Guy wasn't buying into this pretense and called them on it.

Guy Relford returns to the 93.1 WIBC Studios for another edition of "The Gun Guy Show". Supporters of the 2nd Amendment know that the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Guy talks about Kystie Phillips who he defended in court after she saved the life of a police officer with her gun. Despite abundant evidence that she used her gun lawfully to save the life of the officer, she was still sued by the family of the deceased. After her victory in court, Guy helped write and pass a new law that will protect those who use firearms legally from frivolous lawsuits after the fact. In the second hour, Guy talks about talks about making Broad Ripple a "Gun Free Zone" and how Broad Ripple quickly back tracked their plans.

When a caller asks Guy why he would ‘need’ an AR-15, Guy immediately explains that the Bill of Rights is not the Bill of Needs, that there is nothing in the Constitution requiring a need to exercise one’s Constitutional rights. The Supreme Court of the United States in DC vs Heller says that firearms that are ‘commonly used’ for legal purposes are protected under the 2nd Amendment. The AR-15 is the most commonly owned firearm in America and falls under that protection.

Guy begins the show talking about President Biden's commonly used argument that guns will not protect the populace against U.S. Government. "You know, I love these guys who say the Second Amendment is — you know, the tree of liberty is water with the blood of patriots. Well, if [you] want to do that, you want to work against the government, you need an F-16. You need something else than just an AR-15," says the President. Guy revisits the quote credited to Thomas Jefferson and explains what the Founding Father's were thinking when they wrote the Declaration of Independence and established our Constitution. A caller asks Guy why he 'needs' to own an AR-15. Guy explains it's a Bill of Rights, and the not a Bill of Needs.

Mayor Joe Hogsett with the City County Council have recently made new proposals regarding guns intended to keep Indianapolis residents safe. As Guy Relford explains, these proposals are to create new ordinances, not new crimes. They can only fine people for violating an ordinance, they cannot put people in jail. In addition to the absurdity of expecting to reduce gun crimes with fines, the city of Indianapolis cannot regulate firearms because it runs counter to the Indiana Firearms Preemption Act. The law restricts any political subdivision of the state's ability to create firearm restrictions of their own, with few exceptions.

What would the Founding Fathers think about today's surge in illegal immigration at the Southern Border when it comes to the Second Amendment. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". Guy has repeatedly stated that a "well regulated militia" does not mean a militia regulated by the government. A well regulated militia is one that is disciplined and efficient. Guy argues that the Founding Fathers have put to paper what we as a people should do to defend our free state and our security. That the well regulated militia is to defend our free state, and our safety.

2nd Amendment Rights defender Guy Relford is one of the few coming in support of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals U.S. v. Rahimi, a post-Bruen Second Amendment ruling. To the layman, it appears that the court is okay with dangerous domestic abusers having the right keep their weapons that they will ultimately use against their victims. But the ruling is far more nuanced than that. The ruling maintains that one's Second Amendment right cannot be infringed if they have not been convicted of a crime. Domestic orders of protection aren't necessarily a result of a crime that has been committed. The 5th Circuit has ruled that the order of restraint alone cannot erase one's 2nd Amendment rights.

On today's show, Guy comments about a controversial decision made by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, in the case of U.S. v. Rahimi. The court ruled that one's 2nd Amendment rights cannot be infringed if one has not been convicted of a crime. Most of the mainstream press has come out against the ruling, along with the many gun control groups. Guy comes out in support of the decision and tells the audience why. Lots of phone calls today.
