Human sexuality and arousal is literally all over the place and heavily dependent on our psychological and social norms. The subversion of those norms call to us over and over. The word "paraphilia" came into use in 1903 and describes the "experiencing of intense sexual arousal from atypical objects, situations, fantasies, behavior, or individuals..." but no consensus has ever been reached on the difference between an “unusual sexual interest"—their way of referencing kink or fetish—and a paraphilia. One source cites as many as 549 types of paraphilia.

Sex and your relationship to it doesn’t have to live within the confines of the expected. Just remember to sanitize, have lube and scissors close by, and consent, consent, consent.

The word myth is also often used to mean false. Lore is traditional knowledge passed down. It encompasses a learning and study honed through generations.

For nearly 9 years Esoterotica’s live show has been taking place every other Wednesday at the AllWays Lounge in New Orleans. In that time we have had well over 100 different poets, storytellers, musicians, and avant-artists on our stage. Only in the last two years did we begin the recording process. Welcome to Esoterotica’s "Unsung Heroes" for April 15, 2020. It has been a month since New Orleans went into quarantine. Only 7 weeks since Mardi Gras−which feels both a lifetime ago and only a few days gone. And that’s one of the things about the past, how strange and beautiful the human perspective can be when looking retrospectively. Which brings us to tonight’s theme. We dedicate this night to those that gave us kindness as a lover, taught us, helped us grow, even if it meant letting each other go.
