Good News. Good Day.
Joel here, thanks for joining us.
Today I am going to be reading from the Book of Ecclesiasticus, Chapter 4, Verse 11 – 29.
Ecclesiasticus has to be my favorite book in The Holy Bible. It is choca-block full of common sense and wise words. It is somewhat mysterious, in that the book is not found in many Bibles, and can be quite difficult to find online. I read The New Jerusalem Bible, which includes the Book of Ecclesiaticus in The Old Testament, directly before the Book of Isaiah. There will be a link in the description for anyone looking to dive deeper into this wealth of knowledge.
Interestingly, the book is referred to as:
“The Book of the All-Virtuous Wisdom of Jesus, Son of Ben Sira.”
These ethical teachings align harmoniously with my beliefs and I am delighted to share them with you today.
So without further hesitation, Let us Share.
Wisdom teaches her children
and gives help to those who seek her.
Whoever loves her loves life,
and those who seek her from early morning are filled with joy.
Whoever holds her fast inherits glory,
and the Lord blesses the place she enters.
Those who serve her minister to the Holy One;
the Lord loves those who love her.
Those who obey her will judge the nations,
and all who listen to her will live secure.
If they remain faithful, they will inherit her;
their descendants will also obtain her.
For at first she will walk with them on tortuous paths;
she will bring fear and dread upon them,
and will torment them by her discipline
until she trusts them,
and she will test them with her ordinances.
Then she will come straight back to them again and gladden them,
and will reveal her secrets to them.
If they go astray she will forsake them,
and hand them over to their ruin.Watch for the opportune time, and beware of evil,
and do not be ashamed to be yourself.
For there is a shame that leads to sin,
and there is a shame that is glory and favour.
Do not show partiality, to your own harm,
or deference, to your downfall.
Do not refrain from speaking at the proper moment,
and do not hide your wisdom.
For wisdom becomes known through speech,
and education through the words of the tongue.
Never speak against the truth,
but be ashamed of your ignorance.
Do not be ashamed to confess your sins,
and do not try to stop the current of a river.
Do not subject yourself to a fool,
or show partiality to a ruler.
Fight to the death for truth,
and the Lord God will fight for you.Another great passage on Wisdom
I’m going to leave It with you to reflect on

I like to thank all of our supporters, I hope you benefit from this podcast as much as I do.
If anyone has any requests please feel free to send them in. You can find us on Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, all types of casts, Breaker, Radio Public & on the streets of Adelaide. Good News, Good Day, is written by a dumb person, myself, trying to learn smart things, and sharing his findings with the world.
I don’t claim to be smart or correct and I’m not trying to tell anyone how to live. I’m just trying to figure out how to live. By speaking openly and honestly, I can later reflect on the things that don’t align with my desired character and improve them.
I would like to apologise if my words cause any inconvenience to anyone.
The intention is the opposite. If only we can discuss things openly.
Moving On.
Today I have for you the King of Self Help Napoleon Hill.
I was introduced to Napoleon Hill’s book “Think and Grow, Rich” by my Uncle Gregory as a teenager, and it’s message has stuck with me ever since.
This book teaches Self Discipline, Teamwork, Perseverance, Visualization, Self Belief, and many more essential qualities. It is definitely in my Top 5 Recommendations.
So without further hesitation,
Here are 8 of my favourite quotes by Napoleon Hill,
Let us Share.
1. “Set your mind on a definite goal and observe how quickly the world stands aside to let you pass.”
2. “The way of success is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge.”
3. “Self-disciplinestarts with mastery of your thoughts.”
4. “Youare the master of your destiny.”
5. “Every failure carries the equivalent or greater benefit.”
6. “The only limit is in your mind.”
7. “Whatever the mind can conceive, it can achieve.”
8. “One sound idea is all you need for success.”
There are eight of my favourite Napoleon Hill quotes.
Which one do you like best?
I’d like to talk about quote #2;
“The way of success is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge.”
I think success is found on the journey rather than at the destination. The journey is where we spend most of our time, and once we reach our goals , we should instantly be searching for new goals. Progress. Allow me to explain it with a sports metaphor.
A soccer team is made up of 11 hard working individuals and a coach.
The team trains, strategizes and competes to win.
If the team has put in the required work to overcome the opposing team, it will result in a goal. Once the first goal is scored, the team must regroup, re-strategize and start again. This must last for the duration of the match.
I think this resembles life. Whether we have 90 minutes or 90 years to achieve our goals, we must train, strategize and compete. What matters in life isn’t just the 90 minutes of competing, that’s only 10% of the work.
Tue, 11 Feb 2020 - 04min - 11 - S#2E#7 Love, Appreciation & Respect – 8 Ways to Worship
Good News. Good Day
Joel here, thanks for joining us.
This episode we are going to take a look at 8 Ways to Worship.
I don’t here the word Worship used very often in daily conversation,
And I think it is worth trying to understand.
The meaning of the word Worship is to show Love, Appreciation & Respect.
Or Total Adoration.
People worship all kinds of things. Like cars, money, people, deities... but I believe that what we Worship, decides our quality of life.
I believe we should Worship God First, Our Creator.
God chooses to exist in Worship.
He chooses to be surrounded by Worship.
He asks us repeatedly to give Worship.
God wants to be immersed in Love, Appreciation and Respect.
He wants to be Adored.
We should all be Adored, and surrounded by Love, Appreciation and Respect.
And the best way to receive something is to give it in abundance wholeheartedly.
Behold my friends, let us Worship, so that we can exist in Love.
Praise Be To God.
Here are 8 Ways to Worship:
1. Towdah – Give Praise with arms stretched out in a Yes motion or Y shape.
2. Halal – from Hallelujah – Make a show, Celebrate, Be Childish.
3. Karar/ Machow – is to Dance. Wiggle that butt!!
4. Shabach/ Ruwa – which means to Shout, Scream and Yell Thanksgiving.
5. Zamar – is to Play an Instrument in dedication to God. Like King David.
6. Tehillah – is to Sing your Praise with all your Heart.
7. Barak – is to bow down, and get on one knee.
8. Yaddah – which means to completely surrender.
These are the eight ways to worship as told in The Bible.
Looking at this list you might notice things that you enjoy doing regularly, and some things that you would like to do more of. I personally enjoy participating in every one of these activities and would recommend it to anybody looking for a good time.
We should make time each day to stretch out our arms to the sky in thanks. The word Sky translates in the Greek word Ouranos to Heaven. Celebrate and don’t be too prideful. Celebrate and be happy. Like a kid with bubbles.
Dance all day and Wiggle Your Butt. Yell and Scream, Twist and Shout. Rock n Roll, All Day, Every Day. Play an instrument with all your heart, and then some.
Sing with all your Soul. Feel the vibration. Singing releases endorphins, making you feel good and singing in public is said to enhance your long term wellbeing. Getting down on one knee is easy.
Completely surrendering is where it might get tricky for some people.
All I know is my own experience. Surrendering or Yaddah, is the most important one of them all in my opinion, because it allows us to be free. Free from the burden of stress. Becoming completely helpless before God eliminates all worldly inconvenience. I think it plays a big part in how people in catastrophic conditions can overcome all odds.
I hope this message today had a positive impact on you.

Good news. Good day.
Joel here, thanks for joining us.
First of all I’d like to congratulate Damian Bastiras & Durga Anandan on their wedding day today.
The Good News Team wishes them unparalleled love and prosperity! God Bless.
And on the topic of love, today’s quote is from the 19thcentury poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
Elizabeth was from Durham County and the eldest of 12 children. She was famous for her love poems which are simply enchanting.
Today’s poem is dedicated to Damian & Durga.
So without hesitation, let us share.
“I Love Thee to the Depth, and Breadth, and Height, that a Soul can reach!”
Elizabeth Browning, Sonnet 43
Beautiful.
And I would also like to add a bonus quote from Elizabeth,
“Love doesn’t make the world go round, it makes the ride worthwhile.”
Splendid.
Love is in the air.
Thats all we have time for

Fri, 07 Feb 2020 - 01min - 9 - S#2 E#5 THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
S#2 E#5“The Ten Commandments” - The Holy Bible – with Joel La Serra
Good News. Good Day.
Joel here, thanks for joining us.
Shorten the Stirrups and Tighten the Saddle, today we’ll be discussing
“The 10 Commandments”
Given to Moses by God on Mt Sinai after freeing his people from slavery, The 10 Commandments are God’s Laws to help us live a better life.
Jesus said in The Book of John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Also in John Ch1 Vs9 “But if we confess our sins to Him, He is Faithful & Just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
And finally John Ch1 Vs8 “If we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
Hmmm. The original translation of the word sin is “to miss”.
We can all use some improvement, somewhere in our lives.
God is there to help us with that. Keep in mind, our relationship with God is completely personal. We don’t need anyone telling us what to do. We already know what to do because it is deep inside us.
And now my lovely friends, without hesitation,
The Ten Commandments. Let us share.
1.Put God First
2.Worship only God
3.Honour the Sabbath
4.Honour your Mother & Father
5.You shall not kill
6.You shall not steal
7.You shall not commit adultery
8.You shall not bear false witness
9.You shall not desire your neighbours wife
10.You shall not desire your neighbours possessions.
Quite Simple.
I would like to share a piece of scripture in reference to each rule.
Rule #1 – Put God First. Colossians 3:17 says “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Rule #2 – Worship Only God. Matthew 4:10 “Then Jesus said ‘Be gone Satan. For it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God and only him shall you serve.’”
Rule #3 – Honour The Sabbath. Genesis 2:3 “Then God blessed the seventh day and made it Holy, because on it He rested from all the work of creating that He had done.”
Rule #4 – Honour Thy Mother and Father.Exodus 20:12 “Honour your Father and Mother, so that your days may be long in the land of the Lord your God.”
Rule #5 – You Shall Not Kill.Peter 4:15 says “Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or a thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler.”
Rule #6 – You Shall Not Steal.Ephesians 4:28 “He who steals must steal no longer, but rather he must labour, performing with his own hands what is good, so he will have something to share with the one who has need.”
Rule #7 – You Shall Not Commit Adultery.Corinthians 6:18 tells us to “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.”
Rule #8 – You Shall Not Bear False Witness.Proverbs 12:22 “The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in people who are Trustworthy.”
Rule #9 & #10 – You Shall Not Covet Your Neighbour’s Wife or Possessions.Exodus 20:17 Teaches us, “You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or servant, or ox, or donkey, or anything that is your neighbour’s.
Fri, 07 Feb 2020 - 05min - 8 - S#2 E#4 “Never have a bad day” - source Tony Robbins - quote by Dr Martin Luther King Jr - with Joel La Serra
Good News. Good Day.
Joel here, thanks for joining us.
S#2 E#4 “Never have a bad day” with one of the best motivational speakers of all time, Tony Robbins.
Today’s quote is designed to help create the mental perspective of deciding to never have a bad day again and enjoy life.
Tony Robbins is a best-selling author, billionaire businessman, philanthropist & motivational power-house.
His results are regarded by presidents to sports & movie stars as invaluable.
Tony seems to have unlimited energy, which is contagious when reading, watching or listening to him speak. The amount of topics that he successfully navigates makes him one of my Go-To’s for advice.
Here is a quote I found his book Money; 7 Simple Steps.
Let us share.
“Everyone can be great, because Everyone can serve.”
Originally by Dr Martin Luther King Jr
Brilliant Quote.
Serving others is the ultimate gift to yourself. It creates meaning and purpose in your life which overcomes all negatives.
Tony Robbins is very serious about controlling his own mindset and deciding to never have a bad day, no matter what.
What I see here is a need for two things.
1. Strong Mental Attitude
2. Determined to Serve Others
I believe anyone can apply these two attributes to their character and truly enjoy life.
And that concludes today’s episode.
Have a Great Day!Don’t forget to Like, Comment & Subscribe.

Thu, 06 Feb 2020 - 01min - 7 - "5 Steps to Success" - by Ray Dalio - with Joel La Serra
Good News. Good Day.
Joel here, thanks for joining us.
Today’s message is from my main man Ray Dalio.
Ray Dalio has been releasing great online content lately, like his 30minute mini-series on Youtube which i Highly recommend. I’m currently enjoying reading his book Principals: Life and Work.
Ray Dalio has a net worth of $19billion and has $190billion under management through his Hedge Fund, Bridgewater Associates. He was named by Time Magazine as one of the TOP100 Most Influential People in the World.
He also has a very unique approach to behavior at home and in the work place that is worth taking a look at.
I Really Like Him. I think you will too.
Here are Ray Dalio’s 5 steps to success,
Let us Share.
1. Have Clear Goals.
2. Identify and don’t tolerate problems that stand in your way.
3. Accurately diagnose the problem, to get at the root cause.
4. Design Plans to overcome obstacles.
5. Do what is necessary to push through to results.
Once we decide on our goals, problems arise that prevent us from reaching them. We need to identify the root cause of the problem, design plans to overcome it and persevere to our desired results. This will occur in a cycle over and over again, so it helps to enjoy the process.
If you would like to know more about any of today’s message I can send you some links.
I hope this message has helped someone today, it has definitely helped me.

Tue, 04 Feb 2020 - 01min - 6 - “Progress” - quote from Dr Jordan B Peterson - with Joel R La Serra
“Compare yourself to who you were yesterday.”
Good News. Good Day.
Joel here, thanks for joining us
Today we are blessed to have a quote by Dr Jordan B Peterson.
Dr Peterson has been a big influence in my life.
I was lucky enough to meet him in 2019, and would like to wish him and his family endless love & appreciation.
I definitely recommend his books, 12 Rules for Life & Maps of Meaning.
But my personal favourites are his Biblical Lectures on Youtube.
Also make sure you check out his Self-Analysis Programs on his website.
I found them very helpful and I think you will too.
So without further hesitation, let us share.
“Compare yourself to who you were yesterday.”
Rule #4 in 12 Rules for Life – An Antidote to Chaos – by Dr Jordan B Peterson
In this chapter the message which I think Dr Peterson is trying to convey, although I may be wrong, is that we should NOT COMPARE OURSELVES TO OTHERS. Compare yourself to the person you were yesterday and make SURE your trajectory is going up and not down. If it is going down, you must do as Ray Dalio would say, and “Find the Root Cause and Eliminate It.” Everybody has different goals and different lives, so they need different solutions. Only you truly know who you are and where you are going. Progress.
And that concludes our episode today.
Have a Great Day!
You keep forgetting to like, comment and subscribe so I’ll keep reminding you.
Next episode we will elaborate on the genius of Ray Dalio with his 5 Steps to Success.
Until then,
Peace.
Tue, 04 Feb 2020 - 02min - 5 - S#2 E#1 "Believe and Forgive" - quote from Jesus Christ - with Joel La Serra
Good news. Good day. Joel Here. Thanks for joining us.
Season #2 Episode #1
We are going to begin to dive deep into the abyss this season. Attempting to surface the most inspiring and meaningful quotes as told by great Men & Women from all over the world. I hope you like things short, sharp and shiny because that is how I’ll be pitching this season. So Batter Up! I thought I would start with a BANG!
Today’s quote if from Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem in humble beginnings. Fleeing from persecution his family was forced to seek refuge in another country. Jesus became the Perfect Man. He took no credit for himself, nor did he acquire any material wealth. He looked down on Nobody, but instead Loved every human. He was tortured and killed for denying to refuse his God. His words were so powerful while he lived that Men & Women from all over the world have devoted themselves to his cause in a great variety of ways. Now we are in the year 2020, The yearly calendar is measured from the time of his death and Many countries acknowledge Christmas and Easter Holidays.
So without further hesitation, Let us share.
Book written by Mark 11:24-25
I think that what this is saying is that you need a supernatural belief in that you are going to receive what you are asking for, and if you are upset with anyone about anything it will keep you from reaching your goals. Therefore Forgive, and all will be forgiven. Its Amazing what a clear conscience can do.
I Hope you liked today’s message guys.
Make sure you have a Great Day!

Sun, 02 Feb 2020 - 01min - 3 - “Wisdom Sought is Wisdom Found” The Book of Wisdom 6:12 - Holy Bible with Joel La Serra
An excellent passage on wisdom from The Bible. The Book of Wisdom is a great source of common sense advice. Ch6:Vs12 “Wisdom is radiant and unfading, and she is easily discerned by those who love her, and is found by those who seek her. She hastens to make herself known to those who desire her. One who rises early to seek her will have no difficulty, for she will be found sitting at the gate. To fix one’s thought on her is perfect understanding, and one who is vigilant on her account will soon be free from care, because she goes about seeking those worthy of her, and she graciously appears to them in their paths, and meets them in every thought. The beginning of wisdom* is the most sincere desire for instruction, and concern for instruction is love of her, and love of her is the keeping of her laws, and giving heed to her laws is assurance of immortality, and immortality brings one near to God; so the desire for wisdom leads to a kingdom. Therefore if you delight in thrones and sceptres, O monarchs over the peoples, honour wisdom, so that you may reign for ever.” What is your favorite line in this Scripture?
Sat, 01 Feb 2020 - 02min - 2 - “The power of self-belief” - Dr Norman Vincent Peale. By Joel La Serra
