Switching Teams: A Gay Dude and a Straight Dude Talk Sports

Ronn gets up early and is not a Cher kind of gay. Joe yells “It’s a sneak”and enjoys a few minutes of his Eagles game blissfully unaware of how the whole season is about to come apart. Also, is Roger Goodell a good commissioner; how not to celebrate the 4th of July; and we chat NFL, MLB, boxing, sports tattoos, the NBA, award shows, and why your nuts can’t get a concussion. Ronn plays “Bowl Game, Bowling Alley, or Bowl from Crate & Barrel”.

Eli Manning gets benched; Ronn has a better way to handle boxing weigh-ins, and Joe has a new appreciation for NFL schedules. The boys find a new meaning to being #2 on the depth chart. Ronn tests Joe’s World Cup draw knowledge, and plays a game of “Football Player or Male Model?’

Ronn drives a Jaguar and celebrates the Giants' (2-8) inevitable Super Bowl Championship. The boys discover a new way to cover the spread, and Ronn drives a Jaguar. Tyrod Taylor gets un-benched, Lisa Loeb doesn't know what a Long Island Iced Tea is, Ronn drives a Jaguar, Tiny Tim buys a shotgun, and Joe plays a hyphenated game of "Name or No-Name". Oh, and Ronn drives a new car...but we won't tell you what it is! 

We interrupt Joe's brunch this week for a discussion of the NFL, bad behavior in sports, Red Rover, shoplifting, new replacement referees, dubious sports tattoos, shimmying, horse racing, handling the Stanley Cup, and the grooming habits of John Elway.

Ronn finds a new way to get some free time at home, and Joe gets a new radio nickname. Then the boys round it out with a game of "Stakes or No Stakes".

The boys discuss the NFL, racism in baseball, the Super Bowl halftime show, sexism in golf, cheap shotting Edie Falco, antisemitism in soccer, Quiznos, and some NHL predictions. Joe tries to embrace the Eagles' newfound success, and has an idea for a new NFL protest. Ronn can't stand people in wet clothes, and suggests a way Justin Timberlake can patch things up with Janet Jackson.

The boys discuss the NBA, NFL, Al Michaels, insensitive tweets, soccer, Mike Ditka, bowling, the art of protesting, boxing, great touchdown celebrations, bad comedy, the Top 40, and curling. Ronn discusses his heritage and doesn't like learning. Joe explains what you can and can't bring to a basketball game.

The boys discuss the NFL, NHL, pee-wee football, Cam Newton, tennis, memorializing the Manning brothers, the WNBA, and the Mayo Clinic. Ronn questions his football loyalties, and is VERY excited about his hockey team. Joe takes a trip to the Shark Tank and finds common ground with Sharks fans.

Plus they welcome in basketball correspondent Josef Anolin to preview the NBA season, discuss the draft, and to play a game of "Lottery winner or Lottery winner".

The NFL season is in full swing and the boys' teams are beginning to go in different directions. They have some suggestions for games in London, and ideas to improve attendance at Chargers games. They also talk soccer, Emeril, baseball, "Odeckham", the importance of a well-balanced meal, and the boys pretend to be cranky old baseball managers.

Ronn and Joe’s football teams meet in a classic battle of rookie kicker vs man pretending to be a dog. Ronn sees something he’s never seen before on an NFL sideline, which inspires a good marketing idea for the NFL. The boys also play a game of "Melo or Mellow". Ronn sums the episode up best: "I find it all entertaining and it's what we care about. NYG, Eagles, NFL, Dick."

The boys discuss the NFL, MLB, Marshawn Lynch, college football, Panera, Sandy Duncan, DNA Day, badminton, Folsom Street Fair, Odell Beckham, ceremonial first pitches, girth charts, and a factory-installed shimmy.

It's Week 1 of the NFL season, and the boys have a lot of ground to cover. They discuss their Eagles and Giants games, the Patriots, the NFL's continued poor attempts at discipline, spelling bees, romantic Bills fans, Fun Dip, the Reverend Raven, participation trophies, the WNBA, and they learn the value of family with Antonio Cromartie.

The boys discuss the Mayweather McGregor fight, the Kyrie Irving trade, MLB, NFL preseason, Russian television, ESPN, and a good sports funeral.

Ronn finds a new sponsor for the show, and Joe plays a game of “Sports broadcaster or Civil War Soldier”.

The boys talk NFL preseason, kombucha, Roger Goodell, fantasy football, WNBA, anniversary gifts, drinking mouthwash, and Courtney Love. Ronn teaches Joe a new acronym and Joe suffers a very painful loss at the hands of the Eagles' general manager.

This week: Ronn sports a new look, tries to "go straight", and plays a game of "New York Giants Hall of Famer or Vaudeville Performer?" Joe flips some virgins, and plays a game of "WNBA player or real estate broker". The boys also check in on Colin Kaepernick's employment status.

This week the boys discuss baseball, football, chain restaurants, drug tests, Terrell Owens, Forbes, and Mayweather v MacGregor. Joe gives Ronn a long-awaited gift; Ronn tells you what to do when you catch a foul ball, and Ronn and Joe each share childhood mall stories.

The boys discuss yoga, old men playing basketball, Brett Favre, USA Today, Gordon Hayward, and that guy who wore a Tony Romo jersey to his sentencing hearing. Ronn has a new strategy to play pop-a-shot; Joe has some gripes with the Hockey Hall of Fame. The boys play a game of "What's the Word?".

Ronn and Joe chat about baseball mascots, John McEnroe’s new tennis rankings, UFC, and an exciting retirement community. Ronn celebrates Pride Weekend and Joe plays a game of “Golf Star or Golden Girls Character?”.

The boys have a particularly spirited late night chat about the NBA, NHL, Ronaldo, Mama Durant, Ryan Lochte, Dennis Rodman, competitive pai gow, and local sports coverage. They hit the track to discuss the Belmont Stakes and Ronn plays the new game "Hockey Player or Rabbi?"

Ronn and Joe discuss MLB, NBA, NHL, Mr. Met, Skee-ball, the Gay Lobby, Tiger Woods, fish (in and out of) tanks, and more rantings from Margaret Court. Joe has suggestions for the Warriors lineup; Ronn talks about getting to first base with a girl. Ronn has some Belmont fun facts, and Joe plays a game of "Belmont Stakes Winner or Gay Bar".

The boys go to the track (for real) and relive the sights, sounds, and smells of their big day at Golden Gate Fields. They also discuss beanballing, tennis, Tim Tebow’s new business venture, crankles, doubling as a stripper, the NBA and NHL finals, Greg Louganis, Michael Vick, one-day contracts, strange protests; and a few attempts at our own NY Post-style headlines. Joe laments a childhood pet and Ronn brings new meaning to the term “Lucky Cat”.

This week the boys discuss Marshawn Lynch, (in)appropriate slurs, the Olympics, Indian casinos, two-sport athletes, Tim Tebow, the minor leagues, the miner leagues, the New York Post, and competitive neti potting. Joe runs the Bay to Breakers race; the boys have some new names for the race’s starting corrals, and Ronn has a surprising objection to male nudity. Joe tells some jokes that he thought of after last week’s episode; and Ronn breaks down the Preakness Stakes, which he DVR’ed for the Ronn-est possible reason.

This week Ronn and Joe talk hockey, baseball, football, first jobs, squirrels, casinos for kids, special birthday songs, how many "i"s there are in "Pimlico," and how not to sing along with the national anthem. The boys discuss the value of a no-hitter, and we learn who is more of a team guy. They reflect on Derek Jeter’s retirement by discussing some scandalous (but not really) rumors about him; they try fake-yelling at each other about Tony Romo and Jay Cutler, and Ronn shares some Preakness fun facts. It’s our Kentucky Derby recap! Who won, who lost, who finished worse than the horse with one eye, and why the Derby is actually a very elaborate ad for Grindr. We discuss the NHL, NBA, NFL, KC & The Sunshine Band, symmetrical faces, and the prenatal benefits of the Burger King fish sandwich. Ronn is terrified of wet clothing, and Joe has a tough time deciding which team *not to root for in the Caps/Pens series. It’s Opening Day! Ronn and Joe talk baseball: good grub, crazy contracts, and bad hashtags. Ronn outlines his dream to haunt comedy clubs and Joe discusses what it takes for Philly fans to embrace a goaltender. They find what may be the strangest ice skating music ever, and what’s going on with that bust of Ronaldo? The boys play a game of “What’s the Word?” and head to Santa Anita Park to bet the ponies.
