Ratt was one of the key players in the LA hair metal scene of the 80s. But unlike many of the bands of that era they brought a high level of musicianship. They spent a short time at or near the top of the heap, but a number of things conspired against them leading to the demise of the original lineup by the late 80s. Ozzy's debut album "Blizzard of Ozz" is considered one of the best Heavy Metal albums of all time - but it was an important album not just because of the music. It came at a crucial time for Ozzy Osbourne who had just been fired from Black Sabbath and was still trying to find his way as a solo artist. in 1976 the members of Rush were at a crossroads. Their recent album "Caress of Steel" had been a disappointment both critically and commercially. Mercury had put them on notice that they had one last shot to make an album that would feature more radio friendly fare... So what does Rush do? They did exactly the opposite and wound up with their most successful album up to that point. In this episode we discuss why 2112 is so important and impactful.

In 1974 an eighteen year old guitarist from Germany named Michael Schenker joined a British psychedelic blues group called UFO.
