She currently works in Age Friendly Social Housing and has previously worked in housing, community, events, accessibility, equality, and disability across three local authorities. Her extensive experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of local government operations and community needs. Aoife has always been deeply involved in her community. From volunteering with the Girl Guides and Scouts to serving as Chairperson of the East Coast Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force, her contributions have been significant. She is currently Chairperson of Ark Housing Association and is actively working on making Bray the next Autism Friendly Town. Over the past 12 months, these five lessons have fundamentally improved my mindset, structure, and business calm and they might help yours too. 1️⃣ Facing Rejection With ADHD often comes rejection sensitivity. Rejection can feel catastrophic not neutral. But here’s the shift, Rejection is data. When you systemise outreach, pitching, visibility or sales, rejection stops being personal and starts being part of the process. Habit > Emotion. 2️⃣ Embracing Opportunity ADHD brains love opportunity… sometimes too much. Shiny object syndrome can derail progress. Is this aligned with my values?Does it support my systems?Will it stretch me without dysregulating me? Opportunity should be intentional not impulsive. 3️⃣ Supporting Others Community regulates the nervous system. Supporting others builds reciprocity, strengthens networks and reduces isolation something many ADHD entrepreneurs quietly experience. Your network is emotional infrastructure. 4️⃣ Planning Your Week For ADHD, “I’ll see how I feel” is not a strategy. Weekly planning is a regulation tool. The latest episode of Corporate to Calm feature Caraldine Nolan from Weighless Wonders. Caraldine is a force of nature. A mother, an entrepreneur, a business owner, an award winner. That’s not even mentioning her charity work. Caraldine founded Weighless Wonders last December. This is a holistic weightloss programme very different from others on the market. Weighless Wonders is both online and in person and from her experience in Weight Watchers Caraldine has created a free members area full of meditation, exercise, budgeting tips, recipes. One of the biggest things Caraldine noticed about Weight Watchers was it was purely focused on food. She talks about how she would be in the queue for class and other members would be discussing their gym or yoga and Caraldine was focused on goal as she couldn’t afford these added extras. This has led to her holistic approach. Caradline and Weighless Wonders want to provide you with all the tools for losing weight not just calorie counting. Following a nervous breakdown Caraldine was prescribed medication that caused her to gain five stone in three months. The meds caused her to crave sugar and she admits she was simply obsessed with food. A friend suggested she join Weight Watchers and the rest as they say is history. Whatever your opinion of these weightloss groups it provided Caraldine with an outlet to meet others, share her story, have time for herself as she was a carer for her two boys and lose nearly seven stone. Caraldine hit her weightloss target, became a WW leader. She championed online during the pandemic and was a huge asset to the organisation. Last December she found out WW was closing in Ireland and that’s when Caraldine established Weighless Wonders and this company is now going from strength to strength. Caraldine was free to implement her own ideas, she was free from the constraints of her employer, and she flew. ADHD Entrepreneurs | When Slowing Down Is the Strategy (Not the Failure) This is an older solo episode of Corporate to Calm, but if you’re an ADHD entrepreneur navigating burnout, post-illness recovery, or self-doubt this one hits differently now. Last summer, I was ready to take on the world. Momentum was high.Opportunities were flowing.Energy was strong. Then Covid hit in me October and everything changed. What followed forced me to confront three things every ADHD business owner will face at some point • Self-doubt• Slowing down• Consistency The ADHD Entrepreneur Reality When you have ADHD, momentum feels amazing. But when that momentum is interrupted by illness, life, burnout it can spiral quickly into • Negative self-talk• Catastrophic thinking• “I’m falling behind” narratives• Fear of losing relevance• Paralysis through overwhelm Covid pushed me into a very dark mental space. But here’s the truth It was up to me to get myself out. 1️⃣ Self-Doubt Is Loud But It’s Not Truth Self-doubt can feel amplified with ADHD due to rejection sensitivity and emotional intensity. The shift wasn’t mindset magic. It was small repeated action. Confidence is rebuilt through behaviour. 2️⃣ Slowing Down Is Nervous System Regulation My body was crying out for rest. At the time, slowing down felt like failure. In hindsight, it was alignment. ADHD entrepreneurs often override physical signals in pursuit of momentum. But sustainable success requires pacing. Slowing down allowed clarity to return.Clarity restored direction.Direction rebuilt confidence. 3️⃣ Consistency Creates Stability At times, the podcast was the only thing keeping me grounded. Showing up weekly even imperfectly became an anchor habit. Consistency regulates the ADHD brain. It reduces chaos.It builds identity.It restores self-trust. Motivation fluctuates.Habits stabilise. Why This Matters for ADHD Business Owners You cannot build a calm, systemised business if you ignore your nervous system. You cannot scale while dysregulated. This mini chapter of my journey reminded me ✔ Slowing down is strategic✔ Self-doubt passes with action✔ Consistency beats intensity✔ Health comes before hustle If you’re currently in a slower season it doesn’t mean you’re failing. "Education and confidence in your finances can make a huge difference" In this episode of Corporate to Calm I speak with Edel Hayes from Accelerate Accounting. Edel refers to Accelerate as a boutique accounting firm for women in business. She started the business when she realised that most small business were handing their accounts to their accountant at the end of the year and had no contact with them throughout. Edel began her career in investment banking with Citibank and travelled the world. When she came home, Edel decided to retrain and become an accountant and her focus was laser sharp. After a variety of corporate roles and after having her second child Edel decided she was going to back herself. Fortunately, she had clients straight away. Edel was ahead of the curve creating Accelerate Accounting, pre-pandemic as a virtual practice. She was ready for the pandemic as she didn’t have that growth curve that other businesses had. “The systems and processes keep things moving and give me time back; I will delegate whatever I can” Edel tells her clients to sit down and go through what you need in the business, this highlights what your strengths are and where the gaps are when you need help. “Time track once a quarter, every single time I do it, I’m shocked – be hyper aware where your time is going” Edel has a passion for travelling and business transferability allows her to work remotely. She encourages her clients to build a business that it easy for you to step away from. Flexibility and time are her priorities above money, this her version of success. “What does success look like to you on weekly basis?” Edel has developed a variety of online classes from The Profit Academy and Bookkeeping for businesses and is simply growing from strength. "Take your time to feel what you want to feel in the moment" In this episode of Corporate to Calm I speak with Norma O’Kelly. Norma started her corporate life in beverages and quickly moved to tech after an amazing stint in France and a bit of travelling (remember kids, it pays to have a second language). Working with Nokia, Oracle and a few start-ups, Norma eventually landed a role in Salesforce where she has ascended to marketing director. “We can’t give ourselves permission to pause when the world is not giving us permission” “Burnout is a cycle that will reappear again and again and again” Redundancy, grief, and illness have played a role however resilience has been key to Norma’s journey and recognising when to slow down, listening to her head, heart and body. “I was a natural mentor; my heart was in coaching” Norma wants to help people; she is open and honest about her experiences, and this draws others to her. Welcome to Corporate to Calm Season 3 “I make cooking good food uncomplicated" In this episode of Corporate to Calm I speak with Fiona Staunton from Fiona’s Food for Life @fionasfoodforlife. Fiona has worked in the food industry for over 30 years obtaining a Home Economics degree from Trinity and training in Ballymaloe under Rory O’Connell. “If you taste, smell and see something being made you are more likely to replicate.” Fiona spent years in Australia working in event management and travelling extensively. After having her first child in Australia she decided to move back to Ireland to be closer to family just before the Recession, not the best time but she worked hard and created Fiona’s Food for Life where she will Cook, Eat & Nourish you. Fiona began cooking at home and then showed her tenacity and used to her Network to build an extensive business demonstrating in Corporate. “Let people know what you do, use your Network.” After her busiest month in February 2020, she was hit with the pandemic and began to focus her business online. Unfortunately, a diagnosis of breast cancer forced Fiona to pull back and focus on her and her recovery. Thankfully Fiona is well now however her experience resulted in early menopause. This led to her hunt for information and discovering what medication worked for her. Fiona then developed her Cooking for Menopause programme which has been a huge success. This marries her love of food and knowing what food will nourish you during this stage of your life. Fiona has so much advice on how to eat healthier, one of her biggest tips being to challenge yourself to cook one more meal than you are now, so if it’s none cook one, if it’s five cook six and so on. Laura was always creative, into art, colours and marketing and decided to use this creativity and become a primary school teacher. Up until the pandemic Laura was managing her career, twins and an up and coming business. Like many of my guests Laura stumbled into her passion when her PT noticed her expertise and passion for social media he asked her to help him with that side of his business. This led to several referrals and Little Spark Media was born. Laura’s knowledge of social media is immense, and she is always learning and will be the first to let you know of any changes across the platforms. Her clients come first but she has cultivated a community of her own and is adamant that you do not need huge numbers of followers to grow a profitable business “If you have 300 engaged followers, you can sell out”. One of her key tips is to schedule your posts and engage with them later, not to spend too much time on social media. Laura embraced the pandemic; she was still teaching but her commute was gone, and she was given the gift of time. Her business has grown from strength to strength over the past two years and while growing her business, minding her students online and her twin boys at home sure why not add another baby to the mix. This certainly maximised both her and her partners organisational & multitasking skills. Laura has proved if you want something bad enough and are passionate about your business you can achieve it. “You need to do reels, jump on the bandwagon now” Laura very kindly shared her top three Instagram tips and using reels is not one of them, you’ll have to listen to find out what you can do today to enhance your Instagram account and see immediate changes. Welcome to Corporate to Calm Season 2 “Have the confidence and experience to say no" In this episode of Corporate to Calm we speak with Collette from Unfold Digital, Shelfleet and the Utu Foundation. Collette is a hive of energy, organisation, and calm. She spoke with me from Austin, Texas where she is now working on her businesses and taking part on the Techstars programme. Collette originally from Tallaght, Dublin (Ireland) pursued a career in retail, leaving school without telling her parents and running a department on Arnott’s all before she was officially an adult. A couple of years in Greece, then seven in England. Collette moved back to Ireland at the height of the recession and decided education was where she wanted to be. Working full-time, attending college at night, an 80-hour week was not sustainable. After a few more positions Collette’s love for marketing topped everything and this turned into a passion, eventually assuming the role of managing director in a tech start up. In 2020 just before the Pandemic, Collette had an epiphany that do you know what “I can do this myself” She was working her ass of for someone else and decided enough was enough and to go out on her own. Not the best time, but to be honest, is there ever a good time to start your own business? One of Collette’s other passions is her charity work. She is one of the board members for the Utu Foundation. This charity raises money for a school in Narobi, Kenya. Collette’s move out on her own gave her the freedom to focus on this project during the pandemic and in May 2020 she moved herself and her business to Kenya to work remotely for two years. Narobi is 3 hours ahead of Ireland so Collette rising at 6am was able to get a 6 hour jump on the day which was essentially the gift of time. “I go to the gym at six in the morning, which was only 3am in Ireland, which meant I had so much time. Back from the gym, I do yoga for an hour. I journal. I'd make my smoothie. I'd sit on my balcony. I'd read, I'd start my emails. At the time I had like half my day’s done & my clients are only starting their day.” Collette’s organisation is the key to her success, with everything down to her selfcare captured in her diary. Towards the end of last year @shelfleet was born and the decision to move to Austin, Texas. A move that came a lot quicker than expected. Collette was home in Ireland for Christmas and received a call to say they expected her in Austin on January 6th With all her belongings, her life still in Kenya. Christmas was cut short and with a quick trip to Kenya to pack up her life, Collette arrived in Austin to work on her new venture and take up her place on the prestigious, Entrepreneurial Accelerator Programme, Techstars. Collette has two non-negotiables in her working day “I will never be in the office before I go to the gym. It's so important to me that I start the day with like a clear head and not like wake his mood in a bad mood and just be fuzzy for the rest of the day. The other thing is I will never eat my lunch at my desk.” Collette’s journey is so interesting and there is still so much to come before she retires at 40 in a castle, in Italy with 70 dogs. Jennifer Santos is a Mum of three and an entrepreneur. She decided to set up Mothers Reinvented when she took some time out after having her children. “I knew that the work I was doing as a strategy consultant, no longer fit with my new values as a mother, as a person, as a woman” This is such an important episode for those juggling and struggling with Motherhood and their Corporate Careers. Those who are questioning themselves and looking for answers. Jennifer took one year off maternity leave and loved it at first and like many of us in her position started to crave her own identity. She was happy to return to work and establish herself again however she felt overwhelmed and, in some situations, unsupported. Jennifer was always running from one place to another, getting those on you’re on a half day looks when she got up from her desk at 5pm to collect her child from creche. “You do not need your bum on a seat on your office to do your job” Jennifer decided to take a break and discover what she wanted to do, this resulted in her establishing Mother’s Reinvented. This is where Jennifer offers help, advice and support to Mother’s returning to the workplace after a break or those deciding to change career completely. Jennifer’s three key tips are: Planning – Plan as much as you can before you return to the workplace. Do dry runs of the drop offs, are you giving yourself enough time? Ask for Help – Simple as for help outside of the workplace. What help can your partner offer, your friends, your family, your children? Ask for training – most women feel vulnerable when they return to the workplace. Don’t get snowballed. Ask to shadow someone. If a new piece of equipment or program has been introduced while you were away ask for training. One of the biggest things Jennifer will work on with you is your confidence and reminding you that you have every right to be there, the knowledge that you have and reducing that ever present imposter syndrome. And if you decide that it’s not for you, then why stay? It’s back to planning and deciding what is for right for you and your situation. What is right, maybe a career move, a break or starting a new venture? Jennifer encourages you to explore every avenue. “What’s your biggest fear? That you do nothing, that you fail, or you take action.” Nothing will happen if you don’t act. Pamela Nolan is a Mum of two who decided to take redundancy in 2018 and set up her VA business in 2019, Key Step Support. After a tough first year things started to blossom and in 2021 Pam began managing podcast, Key Step Podcast Management. This is something that she was born to do. Pam knows everything about Podcasts which is very helpful to me…. When setting up the business Pam kept saying to herself what’s the worst thing that could happen? “The worst thing that could happen is that it doesn't work out and I have to go get a job" “You need to be able to take a step back and look at a bigger picture. And whether that's taking, like I do see on Mondays, so CEO, Mondays are, I have no calls with clients and I focus on my business” Pam is all about a distraction free life. She has all her notifications off on her phone, she only checks everything three times a day and her clients know how to contact her of its urgent. “It is so important to honour your boundaries” The top three things to know when opening your new business. Know Your Finances Know Your Vision Celebrate Your Milestones Pam decided to manage Podcasts in 2021 and she loves the fact that her clients give her the raw data and two weeks later she hands it back, it’s a lot less touch than her VA work. Pam offers fantastic advice if you are starting a podcast and she has a blog full of great information, your authenticity and idea being the crux of your podcast. She gets so excited about the world of podcasting and will launch a podcasting course in 2022. Her advice on taking that leap from Corporate to Calm is very simple. Emma Jane is a Mum of 3, holder of numerous degrees, an all-rounder when it came to business. Her energy is contagious and she is so passionate about the amazing world she has created. Emma Jane wrote her first book at least ten years before she took the leap to solely focus on Johnny Magory. The funny thing is that it may not have happened had she realised Johnny was a well-known name in many Irish households and not just the figment of her dad’s imagination. There was no fear when releasing them, no expectation, just a passion to put on paper the stories from her childhood. "Bord na Mona was the best learning ground, 7 of us looking after 2.5k people. You learned to do everything” Emma Jane gained her business acumen from a variety of sources, starting in what became Top Gifts and then progressing to Bord na Mona. A huge opportunity arose when she started in the Central Bank but she quickly realised it was not for her and after only a couple of months took the risk of leaving this most sought position. Then came Kerry Foods, this is our common ground. Our paths didn’t cross but we both knew you earned your stripes at Kerry. "My advice, Write the Book!!" Emma Jane’s advice to budding authors is plain & simple – write the bloody book. She is frequently asked for advice and then quickly learns that most are seeking information without having put pen to paper. From the start Emma Jane treated her endeavours like a business with divisions, she may have been the head of all divisions but having different units made it easier to keep track of what there was to do. Sustainability and the outdoors are a huge part of the business. The Johnny Magory World of books are the first to be biodegradable. It’s hard to have a lot of merch without plastic but they find a way through. “This is Nickelodeon, not diddle-e-ey” Emma Jane’s vision from the start was global, changing the spelling of the name to fit with an American audience. Although printing in Ireland was always a priority and she makes sure this is the case at all costs. Her PR are always delighted when a book comes out as she has a wish list as long as your arm and a determined, clear vision. Emma Jane’s advice to any new business is clear, go to your local LEO and tell them you are a business not an author & invest in a virtual assistant. We chat about the struggles of creating a business with children, running a business with children & how you pivot to ensure you business survives a pandemic. "I dressed them while they were still asleep" Amber chats about how she felt like a fraud having had her kids and not being in the body she believed a fitness professional should. Her empathy for her clients is immense however she is there to do a job and you are paying for a job. She wants to see result however she cannot gift these to you, you have to work hard for them. "Stop Wishing, Start Doing" Amber's dedication to her own goals in life is something I truly admire. Amber's body sculpting journey is astonishing. She set herself a goal and built a plan to achieve it in 2017. Her path to competing last September might seem crazy to some but to the educated it is commendable building her body by consuming 4,500 calories per day. She uses food to fuel her body with zero emotional eating. Amber is my coach and pre-Covid I was in the best shape and mindset of my life. I may not have the same level of energy I had pre last October but I have the same mindset and that is what has kept me going post Covid. Amber's chat is honest and a story I'm hearing all too often, the mother is the primary caregiver, the primary day to day doer. “If the sizing bothers you, simply cut the tag off”. In this episode of Corporate to Calm we speak with Sarah Lyons from Well Styled by Sarah and the recently launched Sarah Lyons Coaching. We chat about her love of fashion and how shopping trips would end up in her offering advice to other shoppers. This resulted in the birth of Well Styled by Sarah. Sarah worked primarily within the pharmacy industry managing stores and like our last guest left her career when she had her first child. As motherhood ensued Sarah decided as much as she loves her children, she wanted more for herself. “I’m so lost, I don’t know what to do, I feel like I’ve no purpose outside being a mother” Sarah is so honest about her loss of identity when she became a Mum. Her story really rings through with my own, wanting you children so much, wanting to be the best Mum and losing yourself in the process. The meaningless chat at the schoolyard gates, the endless collections, there must be more to this. “Who are you, Sarah?” Sarah absolutely loves fashion and her move to styling was inevitable. Her business is successful but like us all we have faced the unknown over the past two years. Sarah wondered what more she wanted from her career, she knew she wanted to help people feel good about themselves internally as well as externally. She wanted to help people back to themselves and understand that the fashion industry is… “Viewing you as an object to wear their clothes now looking at you as a person.” Sarah’s body confidence coaching is so appealing and needed. She talks with such passion. Your body changes every single day, and you can’t simply focus on one thing. She teaches her clients that they can change their story. Her businesses marry well together, and she realised when with a client one day that she needed the skills to empower women to feel good in their bodies, making it “an inside and outside job” Sarah’s biggest piece of advice is to listen to yourself because your wisdom comes for your gut and always go with that, make a plan and put the action to it. Sarah’s chat is honest, refreshing and so common in a world where a woman gives up her career to have children and it is not quite the fairy-tale it was expected to be. She has taken her past experiences in business and learned from them. Like most of us she didn’t realise her last day in the office was the day she went on maternity leave. Elayne is also a former dancer and a self- confessed introvert. She literally musters the courage every day to eat her frogs. We chatted about how in the corporate world getting things done wasn’t an issue and how we put roadblocks in the way when we are doing it for ourselves. We also chatted about being working Mums “if I had all day, it would be amazing” but as we know we don’t we scramble to get the work done while they are at school, we get into a flow and we must bring them to soccer or swimming. The struggle as a Mum with their own business is real. Elayne’s chat is honest, refreshing and you soon realise this is a powerhouse of a woman, seriously, self-published and growing her brand from strength to strength. It was amazing to me that she questioned herself, often felt imposter syndrome and worried whether others thought she had notions. Elayne’s biggest piece of advice is do your research and ask the questions. Don’t be afraid to reach out to other people in the industry. We also chatted about the bread bin being the sin bin and that’s where she pops the phone when she is enjoying family time. “Competition keeps you on your toes, it makes you work harder and it’s healthy”. In this episode of Corporate to Calm we speak with Stephen Kennedy from Copper + Straw coffee, located in Bray, Wicklow and Arran Quay in Dublin. We chat about his love of coffee and how this passion & love resulted in him opening an extremely successful coffee business. Stephen decided to open his beloved Copper + Straw when he realised that he was not going to pursue his other love of writing. He is ambitious, conscientious, and hard-working. Stephen’s leap from Corporate to Calm came after serious research and groundwork. He was working his full-time career is higher education and serving coffee as a barista on the weekends. He simply didn’t open a coffee shop to let others do the job, make the coffee, Stephen embraced every aspect of opening Copper + Straw and he wanted to “do something interesting and different in the coffee space”. The ritual of coffee is so important to Stephen and different coffees tick different boxes depending on the day of the week or time of the day. “A flat white is a hug” while an espresso can simply get you through. We chat about Pride and how Copper + Straw has embraced it making it positive and fun in an energetic way. We also discuss sustainability and how from the water sensors on the taps to the cups, the napkins, everything has been thought about. Stephen thinks this need to be pushed even further and has an appetite to make these further sustainability changes in his business. “Follow you dreams and change these dreams into an ambition” Stephen tells me about the sense of community in Bray and about the risk he took to open Arran Quay during a global pandemic, between his belief in the project and his knowledge of the market it was a risk he knew would pay off. When asking him about advice to a budding entrepreneur, Stephen wants everyone to make their dreams a reality however you need to do the groundwork, you need to understand what you want to do, and you don’t need to make impulsive decisions, do the research and then take the leap. Everyone needs to follow their dreams, but those dreams need to be driven by ambition. So, grab a cuppa sit back and relax or go for a walk to your favourite coffee shop. “One of my biggest achievements is getting over what people think of me in this space”. In this episode of Corporate to Calm we speak with Eric Finn a.k.a xampl_xx. A member of the Irish Fifa Team and newly signed to Jesse Lingard. Eric is living the life he actively sought Eric chats about his passion for all things gaming. He is open about his mental health struggles and how a somewhat unhealthy habit has become an amazing, fun career he is so passionate about. Eric only took the leap from Corporate to Calm in the past few months. At 24 he decided to leave a safe pensionable job in a bank and pursue a dream career that he identified when he was eleven years old. At that age Eric became the online youtube gamer xampl_xx, he was uploading tips and tricks on there before we realised what youtube even was. At that time, he was getting such a slagging or as he calls it death about his youtube career that he gave it all up. Eric reckons he’d be earning millions had he continued his original journey. “Reality is his escape from Fifa” Four years ago, Eric was struggling through a breakup, he says he wasn’t performing in university, and he threw himself into gaming as an escape from everything. Fairly quickly he was making a name for himself. His hours playing has led to amazing opportunities and things will only get better as his ambition and drive take him where he wants to be. “To cognitively perform at your best, you need to be physically and mentally well. Leaving his career in the bank has brought more structure to Eric’s. Going to the gym every day at 9am and keeping a to do list helps him focus on what he must achieve in any given time. Even if he only achieves 70% of what he must do, he takes the win, moves on and let’s go of what he hasn’t done. Eric is mature, focused and I 100% believe he will get where he wants to go. She is open about her mental health struggles and how running has literally saved her life. Lisa took her leap from Corporate to Calm when she left her well paid, pensionable career in the bank. Lisa founded MisFit (with a heart between the s&f). MisFit is an amazing community Lisa has created in Gorey as well as a thriving online community too. Lisa says her honesty draws people in and she is committed to teaching people to love themselves. “Running saves my soul on a regular basis” Lisa like Forrest is always running but this passion has taught her discipline, integrity and she wants to spread this love of running to others. She has taught over 200 women to run 5k plus in the past eighteen months. Lisa is open about her struggles with alcohol, drugs, and the pressures of being a single parent. This does not hold her back; she is constantly seeking the next challenge and every day is a learning day. Recently Lisa went back to college to pursue one of her biggest passions, the outdoors where the course directors were so eager to have her on the course, they allowed her to break the hours down to suit her family and business. “Follow you passion, and the rest will follow” – this is exactly what Lisa is doing. I’ve known Lisa since I was four years old and literal years will pass between our coffees, but old friends are the best and let’s face it know too much. “If you have a small seed of desire, that’s all it takes”. In this episode of Corporate to Calm we speak with Ariana Youmans Keenahan from Well Fed Photography. Ariana chats about her passion for photography and building memories and how this ties in with her life as a Mum, breastfeeding advocate & podcaster. Ariana took her leap from Corporate to Calm when she founded her business Well Fed Photography which is continually evolving into the photographic experience Ariana desires for her clients. Her vision is to capture precious family moments through the years, generation. One of the biggest aims of Well Fed is to normalise breastfeeding, creating unforgettable, beautiful images of the most intimate moments between Mother and Child. Well Fed Photography was a side hustle that became a career. Another amazing business born from having children and an employer that just didn’t get it. Ariana chats about how the lockdown was an extremely positive experience and how once you walk yourself through the fog it’s amazing what becomes apparent on the other side. She discusses outsourcing and how this started in the home first and has thus spilled into the business. Ariana is a pioneer for self-love. She affirms the love of her body every day and we discuss experiences of masseuse reluctant to touch her to tummy to a colleague telling her she wasn’t woman enough for him. Ariana’s breastfeeding sessions are beautiful and between writing a book and transforming how consumers view photography it’s no wonder that she is a huge advocate for me time. She knows filling her cup will spill over in a hugely positive way for her family and the business. Ariana’s self-care routine is so special, and we can all take a lesson from her. “If I don’t take care of myself, physically, nutritionally….it doesn’t matter what I’m reading because I’m not going have the energy to pour into changing” Ariana is a woman supporting and lifting other women and her 10k in 10 days is further proof of this. “Own How Amazing You Are!”. Last year Dee Kelly Dooley found a Barbie on the beach in Bray and the rest as they say is history. Dee is a Special Needs Assistant in a high school. She has zest for life, for photography and oozes positivity. Her caring nature sines through and when she adopted that Barbie from the beach, she adopted a town with it. Barbie toured the town, supported & opened business, championed charities, and she even won her very own Bray Chamber Endeavor Award (not jealous at all). Dee speaks openly about how the pandemic affected her and how Barbie saw her through the bad days and let’s be honest even on those bad days life is still lived with a cup half full. Dee embraces all opportunities that are delivered to her and the best piece of advice she has is “make your bed”. Joanna took her leap from Corporate to Calm twelve years ago when she founded her business Solamh which is the Irish for wisdom. This being the wisdom that exists between people, which at that time was between parent & child. Solamh launched while The Celtic Tiger was letting out it’s last roar. Joanna literally developed a strategy that enabled her Corporate NGO workplace to function without her. It was a roll of the dice but at that time if financial uncertainty & crisis her new business was exactly what was needed. Joanna explains that when you start a business for the first couple of years your job is to stay in business. Working and maybe not earning. "It's not about perfection, it's about progression" Dr. Conor Kerley is a man on a mission & has launched, pivoted a business & won numerous awards since he founded Phytaphix towards the end of last year. Conor speaks about "the world being against you" when it comes to nutrition and there is something wrong when you "can purchase a Mars bar for less than an apple". Despite his first word being "more" Conor has a balanced approach to life with his guilty pleasure being an IPA & his mental health taken care of with sleep, eating well & exercise. His story is an inspiration. He is a self referred one man band & in my opinion a force to be reckoned with. Conor has had one of the worst years from a personal perspective.
