1983 - Kittery, Maine.  Sometime after leaving work on February 3, 1983, 31-year-old Reeves K. Johnson vanished without a trace. Over the next three weeks, his bank account was drained to make strange purchases that weren’t discovered until the account was overdrawn. The case went cold almost immediately. In 2021, Murder, She Told produced a special episode on Reeves’ case, but a lot has changed since then. This is not that episode. In collaboration with the Kittery Police Dept, we have uncovered new information that wasn’t known before. Listen to Reeves Johnson’s story with a fresh perspective and new interview, go behind the scenes of the investigation, and hear first-hand how we discovered the first major clues of this newly re-opened unsolved case.  If you have any information on the disappearance of Reeves Johnson, please contact Sgt. • 121 - Anita Piteau: Huntington Beach Jane Doe, Part 1

1968 - Huntington Beach, California. Anita Piteau dreamed of getting out of Augusta, Maine. As a teenager, she’d been committed to the Maine Industrial School for Girls: a reform school that aimed to turn rebellious, troubled, and misfit girls into promising young women.  When she left the school, Anita was far from reformed. If anything, she was more determined than ever to live her life on her own terms. In December of 1967, Anita packed up and went to California in search of adventure.  But a few months later, her family suddenly stopped hearing from her, and nobody could get in touch. Anita was a free spirit, but she’d never just cut off her family like this.  Did something terrible happen to Anita Piteau? Or was she just caught up in her newfound freedom and life in a new city? ***Part 2 will be released on March 12th*** See photos and sources: https://murdershetold.com/episodes/anita-piteau Read The Last Letter: https://amzn.to/3UVf6dq Support Murder, She Told: https://www.murdershetold.com/support Instagram: @murdershetoldpodcast TikTok: @murdershetold Facebook: /mstpodcast Website: murdershetold.com ----- Sponsors:  Apostrophe Skincare - Go to https://apostrophe.com/shetold and use code SHETOLD at sign up to get your first visit for only $5.  Füm - Save 10% off the Journey Pack at https://tryfum.com/MURDER HoneyLove - Get 20% OFF at honeylove.com/SHETOLD Learn more about your ad choices. • 120 - The Unsolved Case of Judith Hand

1971 - Farmington, Maine. When 15-year-old Judith Hand went missing after failing to report to her after-school babysitting job on September 10, 1971, the Farmington Police told her family she’d be back.  Her family wasn’t convinced. They knew something was wrong. Judy was extremely responsible, and wouldn’t just skip out on her job let alone not come home.  Thirteen days later, Judy's body was found buried in a decaying sawdust pile at an abandoned mill. Though her cause of death was undetermined, there was no question the baby-faced teen had been murdered. While the agonizing search for Judy had ended, the hunt for her killer had only just begun. The murder of Judy Hand remains unsolved. If you have any information, please contact the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-South at (207) 624-7076 X9, or toll free at 1-800-228-0857.
