From the earliest moments captured through dance Rhythms & Blues soaked lives that evolved from the low lights of the streets, towards the lofty high lights of the cities reaching the pinnacle of  high octane and often hedonistic heights of which ignited the euphoria that became the Disco Explosion all the way towards crossing over into a brand new decade that was the colourful 80s where our infectious sounds from the soul-infused underground were too influential to contain. Lightning would indeed strike twice as our music again was hijacked just like the evolutionary Decade Before once again being influenced by the corporation run like Labels at first for pure profit! And then an intended dilution to be assimilated into the mainstream… Why? you may ask! Our music is inspirational, it’s motivational.. it is thought provoking and exciting made by those who often have struggle to break through! In the hope of fortune and fame. Carved out of oppression fuelled by creativity and ground breaking innovation based on harder times. Hope is seen to envious eyes as a weapon to those who want to take control… and keep it without earning it… sadly & mostly off of the back of the naive and inexperienced. Only to return later on through curiosity to rediscover lessor known tracks and uncover gems previously unreleased, The pure power of the Album is truly unique. This ongoing series is designed to uncover the very fabric of my record collection’ At least my Album Vaults of which are stored in alphabetical order rather than my 12”s that are catalogued in years of purchase… numerical order. Welcome back to the place where Soul is served in its purest form, I transport you back to a timezone where recording artists were rewarded by their assigned or soon to be lured Record Labels to cut an Album, this was often the perfect opportunity for the Artist to really introduce you to their Soul-Unique sound. What they was really all about could be sourced in the tracks that were used to fill the LP around the hits selected for single distribution, I would be guilty of purchasing Albums often on US/European Import sold here in the UK for higher priced due to import taxes only for one track, you could also find not only future hits but absolute gems that may be overlooked by the record companies that later became sought after. Soul A:M Rare… An Unknown Affair Into this third week into January 23 rewinding time to transport you back to Soul A:Ms origins especially concentrated towards the first couple of years into the Vinyl Frontier. Excitement was consistantly served up as I would embark on almost a weekly escapade of unprecedented events and mishaps from locked gates to turning up to Studio decks or Stylus’s disconnected! Numerous traffic issues throughout a 50+ mile round trip, All the way to listener stalkers who would stop at nothing to go beyond friendship? Do you think turning up with 10 minutes to Air only to find  our studio location inside of a Murder scene with a Police cordoned off area’s around the Building! of which I had to use my best Axel foley skills to blag my way inside by getting an officer to escort me to our Solicitors Office to receive! Wait for it? an urgent fax!! Well it worked, And it was an important meeting i had… TO MAKE YOU BOOGIE? All this and more i embraced to share my Music with you and to me, Nothing could stop my shows, I stand two months short of 21 glorious years into my extended mission of transmission, Spreading Preserving and sharing undiluted Memories through timeless music all to invoke Joy! Back into THE Unknown, Where our Journey on air began... With the Music industry experiencing one of the biggest transformations in over a decade, the dance floor spaces we were accustomed to around a bar or disco pub were about to be assaulted as the sound of the underground previously shunned by the yuppie wine bar scene were about to create their own stage bigger, louder and more progressive than any sound experienced post Disco. Garage house had hit our shores as early as 1985, but it was about to evolve once more! Infected with the signature British sound with bpm’s cranked up to meet the elevated heartbeats of both excitement...and a prescription on enhancements that some needed to fuel the desire to hyper dance to the acid house sounds best experienced at undisclosed locations to heighten the excitement to attend a Rave. Hip Hop, Dance Soul and house now known as Classic all took centre stage... Exciting time for those who like myself were at the right age, at the right time to live and breathe this exciting period of change! Within this Soul-Unique episode our music and its origins are in jeopardy of dilution as corporate labels and media yet again spin their web of deceit and lies tempting our artists of soul towards the darker side of fame and fortune. With many contracts not worth the paper that they were written on our sound was at risk of disappearing into popular culture forever, But there was hope as raw Hip Hop & now Classic House withstood the temptation to dilution forging there own empires that the mainstream said would not last.  Within this Year they would all Sound clash together on the precipice of change this eclectic mix of high hats, Bass Beats n rhymes would make for one undiluted excursion for true music lovers everywhere...  Music is just not celebrated in its purest vinyl format anymore to share Joy without gain… Make sure to like and review to keep the vibe alive… Welcome back to the Star-date 1987 this weeks Dance Decade.

Amongst the bright lights and commercial awareness of our music being thrusted onto the centre stage our artists stand front and centre on the cusp of Fame. Those envious, corrupt and greed filled glares of envy were about to pounce with the objective of twisting our pure sound, Manipulating the very DNA of our Dance code and the worst thing of all… It started from within. At this stage the virus of deception was minuscule, For this years contend was potent vast and varied from Hip Hop to Club Classic Soul with many anthems celebrated locally in micro clubs that infected the high streets nationally bringing the sound of Underground soul tempting the mainstream. Within this year the Tarquins of the financial sector armed with Filofax’s dared to mingle with regular wine bar goers to embrace the euphoria that swept our nation… Welcome back to the Star-Date 1986 this weeks Dance Decade.

We were so alive! A stark contrast from the Cold War that was playing out on the theatre that is life, Within this very Star-Date we sought Dance music on  LAND-Dance-Floors SEA-Soul boats and AIR-Pirate radio.  What you will be able to hear if you listen very carefully to this weeks production is the last year that the artists were able to create because their very soul compelled them to sing out and share what message lies within...  This Year sees an unwanted attention from the record labels spearheaded by so called music moguls of the commercial market as they lye in wait with envious eyes to coerce, manipulate and tempt artists of Soul into diluting their pure sound for awareness fame and fortune... If this sounds familiar this same agenda happened a decade before in the 70s with Disco and a decade before that with the commercialism of original 60s R&B cemented by the Stax Tamla Motown sound. Welcome to the year that all of the hallmarks indicated that Soul Music artists got it so right,  Producers continued to enhance the values pioneered in the previous decade whilst to evolution of dance music spilled over onto popular music, culture,  tv and film. A culmination of Ghetto, street Rap, hip hop & electro morphed...enhanced mainly by airplay from the UK's pirate radio scene, An explosion of fashion saw a steady incline of sports wear brands become institutions whilst all of this played out amongst a cold work as two superpowers played out politics to a game of Russian roulette tempting the other into pressing the button first... Welcome home to the nearly wasn’t 1984 Dance Decade 80s.

If rumour be believed there was a secret code embedded within the lyrics of Disco for all to embrace...If you were indeed within the Soul-Space to receive its transmittion across the Dance-Floors of the 1970s it read that... Love was the message!After disco's demise [by namesake only] and out of the Oppression and depression of the turn of this new 80s decade, the dance music community once more emerging with a new found enhanced sound filled with pride but was that enough to cut through the barriers!  It was only time that hope would once more materialise in the guise of a wordsmith from the streets who would lay out a stark reality of just how it is if you seek fame and lay claim to riches without gain... Production is well underway for the main event of the Soul A:M Calendar which depicts my favourite timeline of music which i unleash yearly titled The Dance Decade,  So much so in fact! I did not think you would disapprove of us rewinding back into our vaults to celebrate another moment of historic magic… The nineties is seldom revisited in remembrance of club world or record labels…So whilst i feel the need…the need to prance and dance! Todays Production concludes the month of June in a very Soul-Unique Style with an invitation to share a historic but seldom celebrated evolutional jump in Dance culture. Out of the ashes of disco’s premature but calculated demise cames the true sound of an oppressed class. Created by the Pioneers…these Masters of the “Get Down” break beats crayoned out from deep R&B cuts of the 1970s were used as armoury for a new way for gangs to clash! With block parties as the battlefield and Mega Sound Systems Projected as battering rams, It was destiny for the mainstream to once again take note of street music’s desire to inspire. 1981 the Location UK, Londons Southbank area aka Skate City, 40 years ago this now iconic location was mainly known for Crypto’s and roller blades,  I witnessed and partook in true-art created with a US/UK flavour by a youthful craze with Poppers n Lockers, Free-Style Breakers who would all converge armed with Booming boxes and floor covering [Lino] ready to throw it down all to a backdrop of creative taggers, Fly Girls and B-Boys.
