Hospitality is about us creating a space for others, a space where they can meet Jesus and experience freedom; a place where creativity is birthed and destiny is revealed!

In this message, we'll look at Romans 8:14-19 and how the Spirit frees us from being orphans enslaved to fear, to children led by the Spirit. We will look at the life of David and Saul, and the differences in being led by fear, and being led by the voice of God.

Praise and Worship doesn’t always look like singing a song. We can worship God simply by spending time with Him and doing what we love, with the people that we love, in the places that we love.

From Luke 1:67–75, we can draw out themes that prove helpful for us as we seek to understand how the prophetic works, and how we are to approach it.

1. Holy Spirit Inspired The source of Zechariah’s prophecy, as with all prophecy is the Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 tells us we have access to the gift of the prophetic because the Giver lives inside us. Because the prophetic is Holy Spirit inspired it means the most fundamental skill required for prophecy is openness to the Holy Spirit. The prophetic is a posture of listening before it is a platform to speak. As we listen, we ask; Revelation - what is God saying? Interpretation - what does it mean? Application - what should I do?

2. God Gloryfing “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel” (Luke 1:68). The prophetic will always lead to praise. When God's people gather, God will use others to speak to us, and this will lead to the people praising and glorifying God.

3. Intimacy Love unlocks the power of the prophetic. The prophetic is about giving people an encounter with the love and affection of God. This means the purpose of the prophetic is not to be wowed with accuracy but to be wooed into intimacy.

4. Redemption & Salvation Read Luke 19:1-10. As the prophetic releases love it redeems and restores identity.

5. Weighed (Historically Consistent) 1 Corinthians 14:29 - Prophecy should be received freely, but it should be weighed carefully. We ask; Does this word that I'm receiving align with scripture? Does it align with the character of Jesus? Do I trust the character of the prophetic voice?

6. Multi-Generational Prophecy works to pull us into God’s story and His redemptive plan, not just for our lives, but for the world.

During this message we hear from various people within our community about what The Table means to them.

Fermentation is an interesting process: It is slow and gradual. For the most part, nothing seems to be happening: it is unimpressive, and yet, it has a cumulative power that creates and transforms. So it was with early Christianity. To the people who mattered, it was of little consequence. For those with eyes to see, a new energy was bubbling up: something alive, transformational and unstoppable. Fermentation is a great metaphor for the process of maturity that every disciple of Jesus must enter into: a journey that requires patience, vision and of course wisdom.

When we distrust people, we are more easily pushed into a life of fear and suspicion, which creates a more and more polarised society.

The way we as humans attempt to deal with fear and suspicion is with control: Control of timing Control of outcomes Control of other people Control of God These are all forms of idolatry, fuelled by fear. But taking things into our own hands doesn't deliver our destiny, it derails it.

Read James 3:13-18: Who is wise among you? James doesn’t want us to tell him whether we are wise or not. He says, let me see it.

This week, continuing our series titled "Wisdom Builds the House", we surveyed the book of Proverbs, exploring how we can apply wisdom in our use of spiritual gifts. We read in Proverbs 1:7 that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction". "Fear" in this context would be best understood as deep respect and awe. Respecting God more than we respect our own opinion is a great first step when operating in the gifts! We also read Proverbs 3:5 which says "trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding". Here we are encouraged to submit all our thinking to God. We can't assume that we have it all figured out (1 Corinthians 13:9 again). We need to be prepared to press "pause" and take a moment to check-in with the Holy Spirit, before speaking or acting.

Proverbs 1 through to 8 introduces us to two voices: wisdom and folly. When we get to Proverbs 9 we are presented with a choice, two houses: the house of wisdom, and the house of folly. Which one will we choose?

Have you ever had an “if only” moment? A moment when you wished for circumstances to be difference, for life to be difference?

This week we had special guest Stacey Hillier from Neuma Church in Melbourne join us. The question we need to ask ourselves is, how do we respond to the presence of Jesus?

Luke 4:16-21 is what interpreters call 'Jesus’ Inaugural Sermon'. This was, and is, his purpose and His Messianic Mission. Jesus was announcing what the kingdom of God would be about and would look like.

This week, continuing our series titled "Things Jesus Did", we explored Luke 5:27-32, where Jesus is criticised by the Pharisees for eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners. We examined what it meant (at that time and in that context) to be called a "sinner", why the Tax Collectors were included as sinners, and why the Pharisees were upset with Jesus associating with such people.

What we learn from the gospels is that healing is central to Jesus’ mission, healing is central to His gospel, healing is central to His kingdom. Healing is not a secondary issue, it is primary. The word salvation in the original Greek language is the word sozo. It refers specifically to the forgiveness of sin, the healing of disease and the deliverance from torment. Healing is our inheritance just as much as forgiveness is.

Chances are all of us have personally experienced what it is like to be at the mercy of nature. Nature is a powerful and sometimes devastating force. One of the stories we are more familiar with in scripture puts Jesus and his disciples face to face with the force of nature.

We are all created for, and wired for, connection. One way in which we find connection is through physical touch. Touch is essential for human connection, bonding and health. Simply holding hands signals to another “I am with you”. Jesus Christ clothed Himself in humanity, He offered Himself as a bridge for connection between Heaven and Earth.

Prayer is not an obligation; Prayer is an invitation. All around us, if we are paying attention, the beautiful and broken things in our world are personal invitations into prayer. We believe in prayer, but we struggle to turn that belief into a rhythm. A rhythm we see active in Jesus when Luke tells us that “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed”.

Jesus is confronted by the devil after being led by the Spirit into the wilderness to complete a 40 day fast. The devil's first challenge ("If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread") was intended to tempt Jesus to prove his divine status by exercising supernatural power.

Jesus had so much to say about the words we speak, as does all of scripture. First…

Words are an overflow! Jesus said that “the mouth speaks what the heart is full of…” .

Words are a substance! “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.”

Words need to be weighed!

We live in a culture and time that would encourage us to unleash our words onto people and spaces with us much passion and fury as we deem necessary. However Jesus (John 14:10, John 6:63) demonstrates a life, a mouth, submitted to His Father. If Jesus weighed His words, how much more should we!?

Despite what you might hear in media, and despite what at times we also might feel, the best days of the church of Jesus Christ are ahead of her. Jesus’ words here should give us great confidence and courage. There is hope. Because, Jesus’s commitment to his church is unshakable. He is building His church.

What comes to mind when you hear the word “eternity”. If you really want to know what eternity is all about you have to take note of what Jesus says. In Mark 10 with the story of the rich young ruler we learn that eternal life, the Kingdom of God, and salvation are 3 different ways of saying the same thing. Meaning the word eternity doesn’t describe a place, a destination, it describes a LIFE.

In Matthew 6:25, Jesus says these words “Do not worry” and for most of us, our first reaction to this thing that Jesus said would be something along the lines of “impossible” or “unrealistic”. Living without worry sounds, to most of us, as impossible as living without breathing. Jesus wants to lead us from worry into wisdom.

As Ben Green kicks off our Things Jesus Said series, he digs into Jesus' parables.

God delights to reveal more to the hungry. This was the purpose of parables - to conceal the kingdom from those who misunderstood it AND did not want to understand. But to those who were hungry and seeking, the parables revealed the nature of the kingdom. 

This week Ps Aaron wraps up our Ruin to Redemption series looking at Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son. We learn about the culture of the father’s house as he welcomes, forgives and restores his lost son, celebrating his homecoming with a feast. The culture of our Father’s house is one we are called to replicate as we make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:3).

Within each and everyone one of us, there is a deep desire to find home: a longing for far more than a roof and four walls. The story of the cross redeeming people is only part of the story: God's mission in this world is to redeem home, to make the world God’s “home” and the home of all God’s creation. God’s greatest desire is that He would be present among us, and present within each person.

This week we examined the lives of Mary Magdalene, Mary of Bethany and Mary, the mother of Jesus. These women were all most likely present at the crucifixion of Jesus. Mary Magdalene being one of the women at the empty tomb and possibly the first to meet the risen Christ.

Ps Shaun Kicks off our 'Ruin to Redemption' series by looking at the life of Peter, following the many highs and lows of his journey. We see the faithfulness and grace of God, even after Peters failings, and what happens when Peter aligns himself with the will of God.

We conclude our vision series by reminding ourselves of our spiritual heritage as a church, and looking at the role our own hearts play in stewarding renewal and revival.

Jesus said in John 15 "I no longer call you servants, I call you friends". Friendship with Jesus is an invitation open to us all, yet few make the choice to push past familiarity, and surface level relationship, to experience intimate friendship with Him. It's in the place of intimate friendship that we are best positioned to not just receive from Jesus, but to partner with Him in His plans and purposes for our lives and for the lives of others.

This week we continue our vision series focusing in on how we can live our lives ordered around 'Jesus at the Centre'. As followers of Jesus we may find it easy to hold on to our belief in Jesus, but keeping Him at the centre of our lives is anything but easy. For that to happen, we have to let go of a lot of things and step into a lifestyle of repentance and re-visioning. Although it is a challenge, the promise is that it will release Times of Refreshing into our lives.

We kick off our vision series “Times of Refreshing”, and introduce what we believe God is calling us into as a church community. We believe that God is getting ready to breathe upon all that He has been building; that there is a time of refreshing being released, and rivers of healing for the nations. Are you ready?

Jesus said in John 5:17 "My Father is always at work to this very day, and I too am working". God is always at work in our world and we have the honour of being invited into His purposes. God's purpose for our life isn't something we strive for or chase after; purpose is unlocked through intimacy with the Father: Purpose flows.

We kick off our 21 Days of Love & Liturgy series learning how we can become more aware of God’s presence in our lives. Through the presence of the Holy Spirit, Jesus is constantly and fully present with us and with the presence of Jesus comes the presence of a completely different reality, the kingdom of God. How can we learn to be more aware of His presence so that we can live out of the resources of heaven?

We continue our Summer Series by asking the question, "What are you waiting for?". In Psalm 40 we learn from King David, who was a master at waiting on the Lord. Waiting on the Lord is worship, it is prayer, and in the place of waiting we exchange our weakness for His strength. No matter what challenges 2023 has for you, the key to overcoming will be in learning to wait on the Lord.

Guest speaker, Ps Wayne Williamson from Gateway Church, Newcastle, encourages us to allow love to move beyond knowledge to a lived reality. To do that, we have to learn and adjust to the pace and rhythm of love.

A brief excursion through 1 Cor 12-14 reveals the purpose and practice of the gift of prophecy, and how we are to “eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.”.

In today's message, Ben explores John 4 and the story of the royal official who came to Jesus seeking healing for his dying son. His obedience to Jesus' command, "Go...your son will live", demonstrates the type of faith which we are all called to - faith not on the basis of seeing something before believing, but rooted in the trustworthy character and words of God.

Ps Aaron wraps up our Christmas series revealing what it means that Jesus - The Light of The World, God with us has come.

We kick off our Christmas series, “This Glorious Light”, and explore the nature of Gods light at work in our world to bring beauty and revelation.

This week will look at how we can put into practice all that we’ve learned so far in our series. In Luke 17 Jesus tell us that the “Kingdom of God is within our grasp”, but how do we grasp it? Looking back into church history we can see that the early church Fathers used a “Rule of Life” to grasp the kingdom of Heaven; to take the ideas of the kingdom and turn them into reality. What can we learn from this? Only when our habits are built to match our vision for life do we become someone who doesn’t just know about God and neighbour, but someone who actually loves God and neighbour.

We continue our Love and Liturgy series this week, recapping the Grace Practices of Disengagement. In particular, the practice of Silence and Solitude is key to slowing down in our hurried world, to make external and internal space to become aware of who God is and all that He wants to be for us.

We continue our Love & Liturgy series this week looking at the question of what discipleship and formation actually are? In the gospel of John, Jesus asks, "What do you want?" or What do you desire. This points to a fundamental truth that we must come to understand if we are to embrace the journey of discipleship and formation... You Are What You Love.

This week Ps Peter McHugh from Stairway Church speaks to us about Friendship with God. Looking at Genesis 1 and 3 we ask ourselves: Are we living from a paradigm of 'Sin Consciousness' where relationships, with God and People, are built on performance, judgement, and condemnation? Or are we living from a paradigm of 'God Consciousness', where relationships are built on Grace, Surrender and Gratitude?

We kick off our new series "Love & Liturgy" answering the question of why discipleship and formation are so important for us as a church. Jesus' first call to His church is to "come to Him", so that we can be "made into fishers of men". If we skip this step of discipleship and formation, we run the risk of pursuing the mission of Jesus through our default framework that we have inherited from secular culture.

We kick off our new series, "Revival Looks Like Family" with a prophetic invitation, "It's time to get your breath back". We believe that Jesus is wanting to release the breath of His Spirit upon us to bring us to new levels of peace, purpose and power!!

In this, our last message in our 'For His Glory' series, we see that, as a People of Glory prepare a Place for His Glory, His glorious purpose will be released across the earth. Ps Aaron looks at the importance of imagination when it comes to understanding the gospel message, and how we as a people live on mission for His glorious purpose.

We continue our 'Prepare the Way' series looking at our call to prepare a Place for His Glory. The call to build a place, is a call to build an altar. While many see the place we meet as just a building, we know that it is much more than that: It is an altar built upon our worship, our unity, our boldness and our passion.

Ps Aaron kicks off our 'Prepare the Way' series. We are called to be a people of glory; To be a people who have laid down their own way of doing things and who, through humility, live out of Jesus’ vision of life and Kingdom. A people who see the world as God sees the world; a world filled with glory that is waiting to be revealed.

When we examine the parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl, we see that the price is not the cost, and the cost is always "all you have”. 

We kick off our new series "Parables". Jesus' parables are illustrations of wisdom, windows into the Kingdom of God, and a way of teaching to reimagine the Kingdom of God in a whole new way. In the parables of The Mustard Seed, and Leaven, we learn from Jesus that the Kingdom of God is not what you're expecting. It's different: It's better, It’s more beautiful… but it's different.

This week, off the back of our Young and New Adults Revivalist Conference, Guest Speaker Ps Russel Evans speaks into Having an Enlargement Mentality: Not settling for what has been, but instead having our Vision, Expectation and Capacity stretched to accomodate what God has planned for us.

This week Caitlin continues our 'Seek First' Series. We look at the prayer for Spiritual Wisdom Paul Prayed in Ephesians 1, which leads us into a deeper knowing of Him. Through the knowing of Him we are lead into Hope, and the Resurrection Power that He has made available to us.

Continuing our series “Seek First”, this message explores what the Bible says about praying for wisdom, and the benefits that flow from a life steeped in wisdom.

Ps Kristen continues our 'Seek First' series as we look at Paul’s prayer for the church in Colossians, and how perseverance in prayer leads us to a place of maturity and fruitfulness

This week in our series "Seek First" we look at the life of Jacob, and the two prayers he prayed that opened up the door for change and transformation in his life. We learn from Jacob that prayer is the place where we throw off the identity that the world would gave us, and receive our name from God as we come under His authority and take on His nature.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, the Apostle Paul teaches us that when our intercession and petition are accompanied by rejoicing and thanksgiving, our prayers are in alignment with God’s will. Our ability to rejoice is dependant on a revelation of the beauty of Christ.

We kick off our new series "Seek First" looking at Pentecost and what it teaches us about prayer.

Biblical Hospitality requires an invitational outlook, free of judgement and rich in mercy, humility and love.

In 1 Peter 3 we are instructed to always be ready and prepared to give an answer for the hope that we have. But how do we do this? How do we have conversations with our neighbours that dig deeper than just pleasantries and generic topics such as the weather? And how do we do this in a world that is so often hostile towards the ways of Jesus and His Kingdom? Scripture isn't silent on these issues. We can look at the life of Jesus, Paul & Peter to learn the art of conversation, on how to live with a provocative hope and see those in our world discipled in the gospel.

In order to be neighbours, and effective ministers of reconciliation to our world, we have to learn to reconcile the gap between our beliefs and our behaviours; learning to live out of all that Christ has established in our heart. We do this by engaging in grace practices that allow God's transformational power to be at work in our life and God's missional power to be at work through our life.

We kick off our new series "Won't You Be My Neighbour" looking at how, as followers of Christ, we are called to be a neighbour to humanity. The art of neighbouring isn't a life that happens by default, we must be intentional, we must design our life around God's story of redemption and reconciliation in order to bring the gospel to a thirsty world.

This week Ps Alex shares on how we can come alive in Jesus through letting go!

This Easter Sunday we continue our God's Good News series looking at how the Easter weekend is both a reminder of the power of resurrection at work in our life and world and also a call to re-enact resurrection in our life and world.

Since Jesus, being fully human in every way, suffered when he was tempted, he identifies with us in our troubles and extends grace and mercy to us when we suffer.
