KC native and Friend of the Show, Rudy Reyes rose from a troubled childhood that landed him and his brothers in the Omaha Home for Boys to, in 1998, In 1998, joining the USMC and was ultimately serving in Afghanistan and Iraq as part of the 1st Battalion Recon...eventually being part of the book and HBO mini-series, "Generation Kill"...and that is just scratching the surface of his story!

He's gearing up to film another season of the Fox reality competition, "Special Forces: World Toughest Test"...and this coming Monday night, he's debuting his new History Channel series "The Proof Is Out There: Military Mysteries"

This show's relationship with Henry Winkler has long been known...and recently, before Johnny led the Happy Days chat at Planet Comicon, we go the chance to talk to Anson Williams....and today, we finally reached the trifecta of Happy Days cast members as we got to have Don Most on the show!!!!!

After 33 years as a pilot for Delta Airlines, Keith Rosencranz decided to make his final flight before retirement the most memorable one ever....so he spent an entire year's salary to fly 112 friends, family and co-workers to Hawaii...wherein he renewed his wedding vows with his wife Collette...and dammit if the whole story wasn't just the kind of thing we all needed to hear....

It's been almost a year since we've talked to our friend, comedian Drew Lynch, so when we found out he was rollin' into Wichita this week, we figured we'd call him up and ask "WHY THEM NOT US???"....and, as always with Drew, shit got weird, right away!

Yesterday, we lost one of the best and brightest people we've had the privilege to know, Blackberry Smoke drummer Brit Turner.
Since his diagnosis with glioblastoma in November of '22, he fought with everything he had in him....continuing to tour and record with the band up until December of last year.
The band released a statement that reads:
“It is with the deepest sorrow that we inform everyone that our brother Brit Turner has moved on from this life,” the group said in its statement. “If you had the privilege of knowing Brit on any level, you know he was the most caring, empathetic, driven and endearing person one could ever hope to meet. Brit was Blackberry Smoke’s True North, the compass that instituted the ideology that will continue to guide this band.  Brit has battled glioblastoma since his diagnosis in the fall of 2022 and fought every day. We ask for prayers for his family and band brothers. More information on arrangements will be forthcoming. Thank you to everyone who has supported and been there for Brit and his family through this fight.”

Anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Brit would tell you the same thing...we was larger than life, funny, kind, a family man, and truly a one of a kind human being.
And we here are going to miss him very much.
Rest easy, Brit. We'll see you on the other side.

Drummer Artimus Pyle joined Lynyrd Skynyrd before the band recorded their 3rd album, right as the band's popularity was set to go worldwide...and then just a couple years later, it came to a tragic end in a heavily wooded area in Mississippi.
Artimus, miraculously, was one of the survivors of that crash....and eventually started his own band, The Artimus Pyle Band...and now he's assembled names like Sammy Hagar, Ronnie Dunn, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dolly Parton and more to pay tribute to Skynyrd's legacy with a new tribute album!!

It’s been a minute since we’ve had our friend April Macie in studio to hang out…I mean, we get it, she’s been busy being married and living a beautiful life in Italy and Malibu…so when we heard she was rollin’ into KC to perform at The Comedy Club of Kansas City, we were happy to welcome her back into our sweaty uncomfortable embrace…and it was fantastic  catching up!

We've had the chance to talk to multiple astronauts over the years, and quite frankly, it never EVER gets old.

And today we got to meet retired astronaut Steve Swanson, who over 3 missions to the ISS, spent over 28 hours walking in space!! And he's coming to an action-packed Planet Comicon this March!!!

There are so many factors in this Saturday's game against Miami...Yes, they've never won a game in weather under 40 degrees...but the Chiefs have never won a Wild Card game against Miami...so we enlisted Chiefs great  Trent Green to get all of the details about this weekend's game!!

It's been a bit since we talked to our friend Actor/Comedian TJ Miller...which is why we were excited to catch up with him...and, as always, we picked up just like no time had passed...and, again as always, it got weird real fast...and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Dear Johnny,

My name is Amber and I’m a 42 year old single mother of 3 and I’m also a dialysis patient. I have had hereditary kidney trouble since the age of 9 (IGA nephropathy).

At the age of 26 my kidney began to shut down and I had to start dialysis (3 times a week for 7 years). In 2014, I was finally able to get a donor and for 6 years life was great. In 2020, I went to work one morning and I didn’t feel well. I just didn’t feel right. I was rushed to the hospital and after testing doctors found that my donor kidney was failing. At that point I had to go back on dialysis 3 times per week for 3 ½ hours per session.

I have so much scar tissue up and down my arms from all of the needle pokes and it’s all so draining and time consuming. It can be painful and physically exhausting.

I have kept working 4 days a week and I stay late if I can to get more hours or take extra shifts. When I’m not working or at dialysis I sleep a lot to try and recover. I am awaiting testing for my heart to see if it’s safe to go back on the donor list.

The only way I can afford to live is by sharing a place with my 2 daughters (ages 20 and 16) and they help take care of me as best they can. I also have a son, but he lives in Hayes, KS. With all of the testing and doctor’s appointments and dialysis I’ve fallen behind on some bills. I do my best but sometimes it just isn’t enough. I pray that you can help me and I thank you for reading my letter.

As we roll into the last couple of shows of the year, we decided it was time to talk with our old friend, Sevendust lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon!!
And, as always, we talked about everything BUT music...mantiquing, new pups, old school wrasslin' and more!!!

It's no secret that we love Henry Winkler on this show with all of our hearts.
Simply put, he is one of the kindest, loveliest humans we know...but the person we all love came from very difficult beginnings...as told in his new book, "Being Henry"...and he stopped by the show to spend an hour telling us all about it.

NXT star Baron Corbin is living his best life right now...Not only is he on the path to eventually ascend to the NXT championship, he recently won gold in the Adult Masters division at Jiu Jitsu World League in Kissimmee, Florida...AND he recently flew back to KC to hang with Taylor Swift at Arrowhead!!

Dear Johnny,
My name is Dave and I’m writing to ask for help. My mom, Mary, passed away in July 2019. She was 86 years old and suffered with alzheimer’s and she was diabetic.

She was the greatest mom a guy could have.

My father died when I was 2 years old and it only made me that much closer to my mom. After she died, my brother and two sisters and I were able to pay for a funeral, but it cost almost $10,000. It’s been 4 years now and my family and I can’t afford to get her a headstone.

Each of us kids have our own families and we have tried to save money for a headstone over the years, but it just never happens. It’s hard to go to the cemetery and see her grave marked with only a small metal nameplate on a stake in the ground. I would love to honor my mom and finally mark her grave in the proper way.

First we knew Mark Tremonti as the amazing lead guitarist for Creed and Alter Bridge...THEN we were completely taken aback when he released a fantastic album of Frank Sinatra covers last year...NOW, he's released a Christmas album,,,and it's really REALLY good!!!

We talked to Mark this morning about Creed's upcoming tour, his love of pinball and more!!

Dear Johnny,

My name is Christina. I'm a single mom of 4 great kids.

In July of this year something didn't feel right and I felt a small lump on my left breast. I went in for a mammogram and doctors found 3 lumps. After scans and testing I was diagnosed with breast cancer and scheduled for a single mastectomy in September.

After the surgery I started chemo in October (I have had 4 rounds, now have 12 left). With my surgery they removed 18 lymph nodes, 14 were cancerous. With surgery and treatments I have missed several weeks of work and it has been tough to make ends meet.

For the last 6 years I have been a school bus driver and bus aid for a local school district and with my immune system compromised, it’s hard to work and be around the kids. I have applied for disability and should have it right after the first of the year but I am late on December rent and I'm at a loss to how I'm going to make it. I owe $1427 with late fee. I never thought this could happen. Thank you for reading my letter.
