Tue, 21 Feb 2023 - 43min - 81 - EPI 81: Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Questions Answered With Dr. Rand McClain. Testosterone (TRT) For Men & Women, Clomid vs. Enclomiphene, And Increasing Free Testosterone
HRT involves taking hormones to replace those that your body has stopped making or doesn't make enough of. For women, this is usually estrogen and progesterone. For men, it's testosterone. There are various ways to take these hormones – pills, dermal patches or gels, creams, or suppositories.
In this episode, we are joined by an Author and Regenerative and Sports Medicine Doctor, Dr. Rand McClain. He shares his expertise in regenerative medicine and answers burning questions about whether hormone replacement therapy, especially TRT, would be good for you or not. He also talks about the difference between Clomid and Enclomiphene and, finally, just what exactly rapamycin is.
Though nutrition and wellness have been ingrained in Dr. Rand McClain since childhood, his journey to becoming a leader in the alternative and progressive medical treatments has been anything but orthodox. From being the earliest promoted to senior account manager in Deloitte’s history at the time, to his stint as a professional boxer in Argentina, to being accepted to medical school at age 37 after being repeatedly told it was impossible, Dr. Rand has never been a fan of the “status quo.” Dr. Rand’s patients (many of which are A-List celebrities and world-class athletes) come to his practice, Regenerative, and Sports Medicine, in search of the innovative treatments he specializes in. From bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cryotherapy, platelet-rich plasma, and stem cell therapies, Dr. Rand has dedicated the past 35 years to redefining what it means to be in optimal health.
Dr. McClain earned his medical degree at Western University and completed his internship at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine Residency Program (U.S.C. California Hospital) and has worked with some of the best and original innovators in Sports, Rejuvenative, Regenerative (“Anti-Aging”), Cosmetic and Family Medicine.

It’s easy to get confused when it comes to health and nutrition. Even qualified experts often seem to hold opposing opinions, making it difficult to figure out what you should actually be doing to optimize your health.
Sometimes it can feel like maintaining a healthy lifestyle is an overwhelming challenge that doesn’t fit within the realities of daily life. It’s tough to hold down a full-time job, eat well, train for a marathon, make homemade green juice, spend quality time with your loved ones, and meditate for an hour each day. Only healthy living can incorporate all of these things if you want it to, and it doesn’t have to be defined by grandiose displays of health and fitness. In this episode, I share some health tips that I personally follow and give to my clients and other people to optimize health.

We're all familiar with the organs and structures that make up the gut. We also are probably familiar with the gut's role in digestion. Tue, 20 Sep 2022 - 41min - 59 - EPI 59: How To Exercise Your Brain & Avoid Cognitive Decline As You Age. Why Some People Have Major Cognitive Decline & Others Don't. With Dr. Tommy Ragnar Wood PhD
The brain is always active, even during sleep. However, certain activities can engage the brain in new ways, potentially leading to improvements in memory, cognitive function, or creativity. Although the brain gets plenty of exercise daily, certain activities may help boost brain function and connectivity. This, in turn, may help protect the brain from age-related degeneration.
Today, Dr. Tommy Wood joins us to talk about his beginnings and what got him where he is now. He talks about the factors that affect or cause cognitive decline and also shares a few recommendations on what food, exercise, or mental activity can help you avoid it.
Tommy Wood is a Senior Fellow in the Pediatrics Department at the University of Washington, and Chief Scientific Officer of Nourish Balance Thrive, an online-based company using advanced biochemical testing to optimize performance in athletes.

Tue, 26 Jul 2022 - 49min - 51 - EPI 51: DNA Testing Uncovered. How To Personalize Your Health & Supplements Based On Real Genetic Data From Your Own Saliva With Joe Cohen
When a great idea is born out of frustration, you best believe that it will result in an amazing company. One that is passionate about helping people get ahold of information to improve their health and life. If you are interested in learning about your health and body, this will be a fascinating discussion for you. Joe and I talked about how he founded his companies and how the data from DNA testing can help improve your life significantly.
Joe Cohen won the genetic lottery of bad genes. As a kid, he suffered from inflammation, brain fog, fatigue, digestive problems, anxiety, depression, and other poorly understood issues in conventional and alternative medicine. Frustrated by the lack of good information and tools, Joe decided to embark on a journey of self-experimentation and self-learning to improve his health—something that has since become known as “biohacking.”
Joe has studied health sciences for 17 years and has read over 30,000 PubMed articles. He's given consultations to over 1000 people who have sought his health advice. After completing the pre-med requirements at university, he founded SelfHacked because he wanted to make a big impact in improving global health. He also founded SelfDecode and LabTestAnalyzer, popular genetic and lab software tools to improve health.
Now, Joe regularly speaks at events alongside the world’s top health experts and continues to work on enhancing his company’s products to provide people with access to cutting-edge tools and information designed to optimize health.

Peak Performance Life Peak Performance on Facebook Peak Performance on InstagramThu, 12 May 2022 - 51min - 41 - EPI 41: How To Keep 9% Body Fat Year Round Without Dieting Or Counting Calories
When you change your life and change your eating habits you never have to diet again. Counting calories is not a long term solution. Listen in to learn how I keep 9% body fat year round without dieting or counting calories.
If you’ve been following the podcast for any amount of time you’ll know that I cut out most carbs due to high levels of inflammation in my body. However, you can eat carbs if your body doesn’t react the same way.
The most important thing is to make sure you’re eating clean organic foods that aren’t filled with added sugars and processed with tons of preservatives. Even the meat you eat needs to be clean meat. Grass-fed, pasture raised, cage-free protein is what you should be looking for.
Processed sugars and grain-based proteins are a no go! In fact I even eat very little in the way of fruit unless I’m picking out berries. Most fruits have way more sugar in them than I need and berries have amazing antioxidants.
It’s not all about the daily diet however. I also make sure to move daily. When I’m not moving, I feel terrible.
Listen in to hear what I eat every day, get some recommendations on clean brands you can start incorporating into your diet, and why this is all so important to me. Your health is the most important thing. It doesn’t matter how much money you make if you die too young to enjoy it.
In This Episode:

Tue, 15 Feb 2022 - 30min - 40 - EPI 40: COVID: Did You Learn The Most Important Lesson? If Not Now Then When?
The most important lesson this pandemic has shown us is how important it is to get healthy right now. Those most affected by Covid have by and large been those who are already unhealthy. So, did you learn the most important lesson? If not now, then when will you make changes?
The science has shown that when Covid kills it’s through causing a cytokine storm. Essentially it creates massive inflammation in all areas of the body and the body becomes overwhelmed. For people who are generally healthy, the effects of Covid are minimal.
When you already have a ton of inflammation in your body because of how you live, you cannot process more inflammation. This is when hospitalization and, in lots of cases, death occurs.
But the mainstream media and news outlets don’t want to talk about these details. Instead they spread fear and hate. We all need to pay greater attention to our health so that we’re here in 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 more years. Our friends and family deserve it.
Listen in for some quick tips on lowering your inflammation, where to start with meal ideas, and to learn why now is the best time to take back your health. You are the only one responsible for your health. Are you going to live up to the responsibility?
In This Episode:
[00:21] Welcome back!
[01:41] Your health is the most important thing in your life. Prioritize it.
[04:17] We need to have a sense of responsibility regarding our health.
[05:18] If you’re not going to prioritize your health now, then when are you going to do it?
[07:46] The basics of reducing inflammation in the body.
[09:44] A good place to start if you need ideas for what to eat.
[11:04] This is the time to change your health for the better.
[13:06] Replace either your breakfast or your lunch with a superfood smoothie.
[14:35] It’s time to connect to this thing from an emotional standpoint.
[17:00] What the media and news should be telling us rather than spreading fear.

Mon, 10 Jan 2022 - 18min - 39 - EPI 39: Dr. John Sarno - Getting Out of Pain Via the Mindbody Connection
We’ve all experienced pain, but how much of it is physiological and how much of it is psychological? I’m asking this question because I recently had a really bad bout with pain and it reminded me about the work of Dr. John Sarno.
Dr. John Sarno did a ton of research around the Mindbody Connection. He started his career as a regular doctor, assessing physical trauma and prescribing pain meds or surgery as needed. All was well until he realized that his patients didn’t always get better after the initial issue was treated.
For instance, he’d have people come in for a back injury and then years later they were still feeling pain. Not ALL of his patients experienced this phenomenon though. What was it that kept some people in pain while others were perfectly fine?
He started doing research on the placebo effect and made huge strides in connecting pain in the body to a psychological origin.
Listen in as I share more about his work and why it helped me very recently overcome pain that I thought was caused by an injury. 80% of the people who read his books or listen to his lectures are healed of their pain immediately. Wouldn’t it be nice to leave the pain behind?
You can!
In This Episode:
[00:17] Who this episode is for and who it is not for.
[02:16] If you do not believe that your mind plays a role in your health, then stop listening now.
[04:26] So many people are in pain, but they don’t have to be.
[05:13] The three books by Dr. John Sarno that inspired this episode.
[08:23] Dr. Sarno is no longer alive but his lectures can be found on YouTube.
[09:43] He classified all muscular pain as TMS: Tension Myositis Syndrome.
[11:40] I don’t believe it’s right for a doctor to give a timeline on someone’s life. Learn why.
[14:29] In general, if you believe the mind can heal the body, then keep listening.
[15:50] Learn who is most likely to have pain due to TMS.
[18:45] Dr. Sarno started off as a regular doctor and realized that there were common traits between people who suffered from pain and those who didn’t.
[21:55] Inflammation in the body has been linked to Alzheimer’s as well.
[22:59] Another thing to check out if you’re in pain is whether or not you have any vitamin or mineral deficiencies.
[24:10] Assuming there is nothing wrong with you but you have chronic back pain, it may be mindbody related.
[25:32] 80% of people who read through Dr. Sarno’s books and listening to his lectures notice a reduction of pain.
[27:35] What TMS really is and how your mind tries to overcome it.
[30:22] Dr. Sarno’s books help eliminate the fear that comes with bad diagnoses.
[32:56] I’m sharing this because I experienced this healing first hand. Hear this story.
[34:54] The pain you feel is sneaky because it typically makes sense, but it’s not a physical issue.

Fri, 27 Aug 2021 - 40min - 38 - EPI 38: Changing Your Belief System & Identity Around Health
I’m in the process of writing a book! This has been a long road and process, but I’m very excited to share the introduction and first chapter with you. You are the ultimate insider in this process so let me know if there is anything you’d like to see in a book all about peak performance and health.
Be prepared to start strong with this book. Living a healthy life requires dedication to making good decisions about diet, exercise, supplements, and personal development. Step one, start to identify as someone who lives healthfully.
Do you smoke?
Hopefully the answer to that question is no. If that’s the case, then when someone offers you a cigarette, what do you say? Most likely the answer to that question is, “I don’t smoke.” You’ve internalized the identity of a non-smoker so deeply that it’s an automatic response to say that you simply don’t smoke.
This same process can and should be applied to your identity as it relates to health.
This is just one amazing nugget from this snippet of the book. Listen in to hear more of them and hear the action steps I’m giving you at the end of chapter 1.
What do you think? What are your thoughts on the possible title choices? Shoot me an email. Let me know your thoughts, feedback, and ideas.
In This Episode:
[00:15] We are releasing a book later this year and I’m sharing the first chapter!
[02:27] I’m sharing the introduction to my new book.
[04:09] The exact visualization I practice every day that has changed my life.
[05:21] Learn the most important questions I’ve ever been asked.
[06:57] To effect change in our lives we have to change our identity.
[09:37] For many it only takes the offer to slip off the path, but if your identity is that you do or don’t do something, your choices become no brainers.
[10:44] How do you change your health identity?
[11:38] Hear limiting beliefs that you’ve likely heard other people say.
[12:44] Once we change our beliefs we change our identities which then leads to change in health.
[13:34] Learn one thing you can do to start making changes today.
[15:06] We rarely realize how external factors impact our belief systems and behavior.
[17:10] Those in the most pain are incentivized to make the most dramatic changes.
[19:35] Your choices determine how hard or easy your life will be.
[21:58] Nothing tastes as good as health feels.

Thu, 05 Aug 2021 - 28min - 37 - EPI 37: Dr. Tom O'Bryan - The Dangers Of Gluten & How It Relates To Gut Health, Brain Health, & Autoimmune Disease
Dr. Tom O’Bryan is a recognized world expert on gluten and its impact on health. He holds five different positions at Harvard studying the role of gluten in overall health. His work has garnered him international recognition and he’s a highly sought after speaker on all things gluten.
He joins me today to chat about the dangers of gluten, how it affects overall health, and the role of the gut in various autoimmune disorders. It’s amazing to hear him break down complex body processes in an easy to understand way that really drives home the need for ongoing education.
For instance, he notes that our bodies are almost exactly the same at a cellular level as the bodies of our hunter gatherer forefathers. When they would gather food, they trusted their senses of smell and taste to determine if the food they found was still good.
If for some reason the food was spoiled or harbored a bacteria that the acid in their stomachs couldn’t kill, the body would fire an immune response. This is the basis for leaky gut. In ideal conditions, the leaky gut is meant as a protective response.
Nowadays however, we are overloading our system and constantly exposing our gut to gluten. Gluten has a very similar protein map to that of bad bugs in food. This means that our gut is constantly fighting against the “bug” that is gluten which leads to chronic leaky gut.
Like I said, this is truly fascinating. Listen as he shares ways you can start to turn the tables and start living a more healthful life. Everything from how to structure your diet to ways of empowering your mind. Dedicate just 1 hour each week to living a healthier life and you’ll be amazed at the differences you see.
In This Episode:
[00:00:17] Welcome Dr. Tom O’Bryan to chat about gluten and overall health.
[00:01:37] Why is gluten such a problem and how is it affecting our health?
[00:03:39] Learn the two triggers of leaky gut and why gluten is not bad for you. Bad gluten is bad for you.
[00:06:12] Gluten activates intestinal permeability in all human beings. Learn more.
[00:11:36] What should the average person be looking out for with regard to gluten and gluten reactions?
[00:14:20] Leaky gut is actually meant to be a benefit to the body by removing harmful bacteria.
[00:16:02] Gluten has the same protein structure as bad bugs which is why the body fights it. The repeated ingestion of gluten laden products is what causes intestinal distress.
[00:21:05] What should you do now that you know more about the relationship between gluten and gut health?
[00:24:37] Phthalates are accumulative. Years of exposure compound to create huge health issues both in your body and that of your offspring.
[00:30:47] Dr. O’Bryan shares his thoughts on the good vs bad vs ugly with regard to gluten in food.
[00:34:47] How your cellular regeneration is impacted by your lifestyle and the food you eat.
[00:40:10] What does he advise people with regard to gluten and what is safe and not safe?
[00:44:08] 36% of all the molecules in your bloodstream are the exhaust from your gut.
[00:48:40] Are there any carbs that are okay or should we avoid them completely?

Thu, 28 Jan 2021 - 48min - 31 - Epi 31: How to Start Craving Healthy Food Instead of Junk Food
I was recently chatting with a friend and colleague who is well-known and liked in the industry. He asked me a question about my dietary habits and I realized that this question applies to most everyone trying to change their lives and bodies with food. Listen in to hear his question and why the answer is so important.
The gist of his question was essentially, how do you do it? How do you avoid sweets, grains, and all the junk that’s out there. The answer, while simple, is not accomplished in a very easy manner, but the reward is amazing.
It’s all about your identity and changing it. For instance, if you’re a non-smoker and someone offers you a smoke what do you tell them? You tell them no, I don’t smoke. You’ve assimilated into your identity that you are a non-smoker.
The same can be said of how you approach the food that you eat. I don’t have to avoid eating cake because I have changed my identity in that I just don’t eat cake. If someone offers it, I can easily avoid it because cake is not something that is in my diet and it’s not something that makes me feel good.
Listen in as I share how you can go about changing your own identity and why it gets easier over time rather than harder. As Tony Robbins says, “Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels.” Remember that as you feel the pull toward eating junk.
In This Episode:
[00:32] The question that inspired this episode.
[03:29] What are empowering beliefs and how do they inform your identity?
[05:03] When you have the identity of not eating bad food it makes it easier to say no.
[07:11] How the shows you watch impact your mentality and identity.
[09:31] Visualisation techniques are important to changing your identity.
[12:33] Eventually your taste buds change and you don’t crave bad foods.
[15:45] Use the pain and logic to remember how you’ll feel when you’re healthy.
[16:36] When your taste buds change your cravings will change.
[19:32] This process is why I’m not a fan of diets. This is a long term change.
[23:07] You’ll start to become more in tune with your body and what makes you feel good as you go through this process.

Thu, 24 Dec 2020 - 23min - 30 - Epi 30: Dr. Chanu Dasari - The Importance of Phytonutrients & Gut Health
As more and more people focus on their overall health, many have found that gut health is integral to well-being. Dr. Chanu Dasari has spent his career in medicine working with gut related health issues and cancers. His research into the effect of chronic inflammation and an overwhelmed gut has led him to taking a full body approach to healing.

Fri, 02 Oct 2020 - 37min - 28 - Epi 28: Why I Eat More Fat to Lose Fat
If you work out and are moving your body, eating a high fat diet will likely NOT make you fat. Of course I can only speak from my experience and the experience of others as every person has a different genetic makeup, but eating fat does not make you fat. There are plenty of high fat foods that are integral to good health.
Contrary to popular belief, simply counting your calories will not lead to optimal health or weight loss because not all calories are created equal. I remember a friend of mine was counting calories and sent back food at a restaurant because it had extra virgin olive oil on it. EVOO is wonderful for your body and your health, but he’d had two Coke Zero’s that day and didn’t have room for the extra calories in his diet.
You see, calorie counting makes sense if you’re counting your other macros as well. All of this being said, I wanted to share which high fat foods I consume every day, why, and why they are so important to you. I even have my kids eating much of this daily because the oils and fats that we eat are amazing for their brain health.
Listen as I share why eating grass fed butter or ghee, C8MCT oil, fish oil, krill oil, organic extra virgin olive oil, and high heat avocado oil is essential to good health (no matter what kind of diet you’re on.) Eating good healthy foods is the key to overall health, pain reduction, and weight loss. Don’t get caught up in counting the numbers without understanding the actual food that you’re eating.
In This Episode:
[00:24] The supplements you need to be sure you have plenty of during this pandemic.
[02:55] If you’re older you’ve probably seen some crazy diet recommendations over the years.
[03:30] My focus is on longevity over building huge muscles.
[05:04] Lowering inflammation in your body goes hand in hand with longevity.
[07:00] We’ve been taught that high fat foods are bad for you, but is that true?
[08:30] What does cause your body to put on fat?
[11:26] Why oatmeal is not necessarily ideal for good health.
[12:02] Learn more about the Keto Diet.
[13:17] How does that apply to achieving a caloric deficit?
[15:14] Which healthy fats should you be eating every day?
[18:27] You can still eat carbs when eating a high fat diet.
[20:42] Why you should be consuming grass fed butter or ghee and C8 MCT oil.
[22:57] Organic extra virgin olive oil is amazing for reducing inflammation.
[27:01] Don’t forget to take fish oil or krill oil with high levels of EPA and DHA.
[29:23] Why omega 3 is so important for children.
[31:51] Use a high heat avocado oil for cooking.
[33:27] Eating fat will not make you fat.
[35:56] Not every calorie is made equal.
[38:25] Keto is not a long-term plan and always consult with a nutritionist before making a huge dietary change.

Tue, 28 Jul 2020 - 1h 03min - 26 - Epi 26: CrossFit Gym Owner Shares Simple At Home Workouts + CrossFit Do's & Don'ts
When you hear the word CrossFit, what do you think? For many that word makes them think of crazy people, but Sean LeFloch is here to share why that’s simply not true. No matter the workout you’re doing, you have to use your body in different ways to get maximum results and that is what he helps you to do.
Sean digs deeper into the origins of CrossFit and why it is so popular today. One of the most cited reasons is the community that has been built up. When you suffer through something with another person, the bond you build is unbreakable. The CrossFit community is tight knit and he truly believes that it’s that element of suffering that has brought people together.
If your gym is still closed, there are things you can do at home. Don’t worry if you don’t have weights or equipment, some of the most highly fit athletes in the world do body weight exercises almost exclusively. Think about gymnasts.
Listen as Sean shares his top exercises to do at home and how you can tailor them to fit your surroundings and lifestyle. Being able to work out in a gym is very important but in the meantime, not letting your workout regimen slip is imperative. Sean also digs into nutrition and how you can make small changes that drastically impact your health. He doesn’t believe in saying you can or cannot eat certain things, instead he tells you just to make sure you eat certain portions for each meal. This was an amazing discussion with so much great information shared. If you’ve been struggling with at-home fitness, then take a minute and let Sean help you get back on track.

Thu, 09 Jul 2020 - 51min - 25 - Epi 25: Environmental Toxins - How They May Be Hurting You And What You Can Do About It
One thing that not a lot of health professionals talk about is toxins. Toxins permeate our lives, our world, and the products and food that we eat every day. Which is why we have to become more aware of them. Lara Adler is a certified health coach who has dedicated her life to researching and helping others understand the toxins they come in contact with every day.
So where do you come in contact with toxins? Almost everywhere. You can find toxins in your beauty products, the cookware you use, the household cleaners under you sink. Almost everywhere. Listen as Lara shares the things that you should look out for when you look to purchase your next round of products.
The one toxin that is easily removed from your household is phthalates. You’ll never see this on an ingredients label but it is used to boost fragrances. So if you start looking for fragrance free cleaners and soaps, you’ll be well on your way to reducing your toxic load.
Another thing to keep in mind is flame retardants in your furniture. The laws have changed in recent years, but if you have older furniture, it may be time to buy something new. Flame retardants are highly toxic and are released as your couch cushions and mattresses break down.
There are so many areas that toxins invade our lives. Listen to learn how you can start evaluating the products you buy and make smarter purchasing decisions.
In This Episode:
[00:22] Welcome Lara Adler to discuss environmental toxins.
[01:17] Learn more about Lara’s background and why she started studying toxins.

[16:10] Phthalates merge with house dust causing serious problems for your family and pets.
[19:14] Are air purifiers helpful?
[22:44] How can you find out more about the furniture you purchase?
[25:40] Why self-extinguishing cigarettes resulted in flame retardants in furniture materials.

[32:03] Which pillows are the best to purchase?
[34:46] Are there toxins in your food and cookware?
[36:48] Why lawsuits against chemical manufacturers are almost impossible.

Your genetics play a huge role in your overall health but so too does your epigenetics and overall levels of inflammation and chronic disease. Mike Mallin with Wild Health joins me to chat about their process when working with patients as well as why tracking devices are integral to finding your best life plan.
The doctors and health care providers with Wild Health have spent years researching the role of genetics on overall health. They’ve also been working with their patients to increase overall longevity which is directly related to chronic inflammation. Tue, 19 May 2020 - 1h 16min - 18 - Epi 18: The Ingredient That Increased Lifespan By 90% In Rats
If a supplement existed that could potentially increase your years on this Earth, would you consider it? Chris Burres of MyVitalC joins me to chat about a revolutionary supplement that has extended the life of rats by more than 90%... what could it do for us?
In the mid 80s scientists found an atom that was potentially the link to increased atomic or chemical warfare. However as they did more research, they realized they may have found the fountain of youth.
Chris Bures has been working with this material for almost as long as it has been known, and his company has finally found a way to make it safe for humans to ingest. The results that his customers and clients have seen is amazing.
I’m one of those clients and ESS60 is truly a game changer. As you know I’m always looking for better ways to boost natural immunity and to reduce inflammation. This particular supplement has been unofficially noted as one of the most effective antioxidants in existence.
Chris shares the science behind this new supplement and why it may be a good fit for you. Please note that this product is still under review by the FDA, but his clients have given him permission to use their results as testimonials regarding its effectiveness.
Have you been looking for the fountain of youth? Then you’ll want to listen to this episode.
In This Episode:
[01:31] Welcome Chris Burres of MyVitalC to discuss prolonging life with this supplement.
[02:45] How did they go about creating a safe version for humans?
[05:31] The material that they were working with in the early years was worth $6k per gram.
[09:26] What were the results of studies and why do we experiment on rats?
[11:22] This material was originally tested to see how toxic it was to rats.
[14:04] The rats lived 90% as long and died with no tumors, but this does not necessarily mean that ESS60 is a cancer treatment.
[18:21] Is it because this molecule is a powerful antioxidant that it prolongs life?
[21:52] Chris refers back to Dr. Gundry and his studies into olive oil.
[23:42] Why olive oil is one of the best to use with ESS60.
[26:06] The testimonials vary to the extremes. Hear how.
[29:15] Every testimonial that is shared is one that either Chris has experienced or someone he knows has had and he can put you in contact with.

Tue, 12 May 2020 - 45min - 17 - Epi 17: Lessons Learned Wearing A Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor, What Biohackers Eat, Heavy Metal Detox & More! Yuli Azarch Part 2
Yuli Azarch was recently on the show to chat about EMF and how it affects the body, but he’s also an amazing biohacker. I wanted to have him back to chat about his views on fueling the body and what he does to stay in peak mental and physical condition.
First off, Yuli did experience a time early on in life when he lost his health. He is very dedicated to studying his body’s reactions to various foods and supplements to be sure that he is only ever giving it the very best.
This led him to start wearing a continuous glucose monitor. Along with having a fear of developing diabetes because his brother has it, he also wanted to know exactly how his body reacted to various foods.
It was through that process that he realized he was right about how his body handles carbs. He has now almost completely eliminated carbs from his diet. But that isn’t all he’s done.
Due to his wife’s high heavy metal toxicity and subsequent detox, he is also very conscious of the types of meats and vegetables he eats. Listen in to hear why he doesn’t eat much fish and why most nuts no longer fit into his diet either.
So many people still ascribe to the need to eat three meals a day, but Yuli and I both agree that when you’re eating super clean and eating the right things for your body specifically, you’ll need less food.
Listen in to hear all of Yuri’s amazing tips on reducing your heavy metal levels and why you really need to monitor your own body’s reactions to certain foods. We are all very different, so hearing how food affects us may be the complete opposite to how it affects you!
In This Episode:
[02:52] Welcome back Yuli Azarch to dig into biohacking and continuous glucose monitoring.
[04:01] What is a continuous glucose monitor and why would you use it?
[07:02] Yuli shares what he learned about his body by using the monitor.
[10:33] When you eat clean you don’t get blood sugar cravings… which means you eat less.
[12:14] Hear what Yuri says about the cause of being “hangry.”
[14:46] Eliminating mental fog and increasing your energy is the key to success.
[17:36] It’s good to note that everyone is different. Investigate your own body reactions to carbs.
[20:49] Listen as Yuli shares his no-go foods and what he does eat every day.
[26:12] What are Yuli’s favorite vegetables?
[29:52] How big of a problem is the intake of heavy metals?
[31:43] Detoxing heavy metals varies based on the level of toxicity.
[33:23] What are the best things that you can do to reduce heavy metals in the body?
[36:03] The supplements you can take to reduce heavy metals are…
[39:59] Your emotions and your thoughts can mean the difference between sickness and health.

So what is EMF? It is the electromagnetic field that surrounds all electronic devices and the world. This field is increased through the use of cell phone towers, wifi routers, and most all electrical devices.
While the science surrounding our exposure levels is still new, it is very compelling. Yuli shares his experiences and what he’s doing to help educate others. Learn what kinds of products you can use to reduce your exposure and what you can be doing today to bring down your exposure today.

Tue, 21 Apr 2020 - 1h 02min - 14 - Epi 14: CORONAVIRUS: How I'm Preparing My Body In Case I Get It
I have been asked by many of you how I’m prepping my body in case I get the virus. Honestly though, it’s more about just sticking with your healthy habits. I’m sharing my diet, supplement routine, and why I’m taking it easy on my workouts.
My own personal history prepared me in the best way for this pandemic. After dealing with extreme inflammation several years ago, I made huge dietary changes that I have maintained since. I eat a very anti-inflammatory diet which is what we all need right now.
My supplement routine hasn’t changed much either. With increased time inside, I have upped the amount of vitamin D that I take and I’ve added in quercetin, but other than that I’m taking my regular supplement regimen. Listen in as I share exactly what that is.
Scientists have now found that the virus thrives in bodies that are already high in inflammation. Take every precaution to remove inflammation. Don’t drink alcohol, remove sugars, stop buying processed pastas and breads. Try to eat as healthfully as possible during this time.
Also, don’t make it a point to kill yourself in your workouts. It’s important to keep moving but now is not the time to be maxing out every single day. All that will do is break you down when you need to be at your peak. For me personally, not much has changed with regard to my diet, exercise, or supplements, but if you haven’t already started on an anti-inflammatory meal plan, now is the time.
In This Episode:
[01:10] While Talor is not a doctor, he has been asked to share what he’s doing to prepare his body during this time.
[03:08] What is a cytokine storm and why is it so important to reduce inflammation?
[04:31] Learn some of the biggest mistakes you can make in this time.
[08:06] Take it easy on yourself. This stressful time can predispose you to sickness.
[09:07] Do things that make you feel better.
[12:03] Light exercise is the smart thing. Don’t start maxing out.
[14:10] When it comes to food, eat a low inflammatory diet.
[15:55] Why Talor is just doing more of the same to stay healthy.
[17:27] Which supplements should you be taking?
[19:59] Talor shares why mushrooms are great for immune support.

Fri, 27 Mar 2020 - 1h 03min - 12 - Epi 12: NUTRITION FOR KIDS (Even those that won't eat healthy). Parents listen to this, it's important.
Now more than ever our children are showing the effects of having diets made up of processed foods and manufactured sugars. Even if you have a picky eater, there are ways to ensure that their diet is well-rounded and nutritious. Listen in as I share what I make for my girls and why I choose the products I do.
Any parent of more than one kid will know that kids come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. It didn’t take us long to realize that our daughters, while only about 18 months apart are completely different people. Their preferences and dietary likes and dislikes are night and day opposites.
My oldest daughter loves eating all things healthy. She is the first one to encourage her friends to eat healthfully, and she soaks up everything I have to teach her. Every morning she drinks her own super-smoothie and loves it. (I share exactly how I make this in the episode. Listen in to hear!)
My youngest daughter, however, thinks cereals, pizzas, chips, and candies are all that a good diet needs to be complete. For her, we have to get a lot more creative in how we sneak in healthy foods and supplements. I share exactly how we do that as well.
The important thing to note is that our children’s diets are more important and impactful than one might think. Everything from their attitude, grades, and overall health is directly impacted by the foods that we allow them to eat.
Listen in to hear my resources, thoughts, and opinions on how you can get your children to eat more healthfully.
In This Episode:
[01:12] What are some of the differences between kids’ health and adult health?
[03:41] Too much sugar and too many processed foods can affect the way kids act.
[06:40] The ingredients in food here in the U.S. versus in Europe are different. European food is healthier.
[10:32] The difference between healthy chocolate and unhealthy chocolate.
[12:47] Learn more about Talor’s oldest child, her food habits, and her morning super smoothie.
[14:46] For adults, berries are the best type of fruit.
[15:24] Something to note if you’re giving your kids supplements and powders.
[17:40] Learn what oils and probiotics Talor uses in the smoothie.
[21:03] C8 MCT oil is the highest quality. Make sure to buy good quality oils.
[24:52] Why Talor uses EVOO in the smoothie as well.
[26:53] Talor recaps the entire smoothie.
[29:35] Sugar cereals are terrible for your kids as is conventional milk.
[32:18] Listen as Talor shares a story about trying to figure out how to get his youngest daughter to eat healthfully.
[34:23] Talor has to sneak healthy things into his youngest daughter’s diet.
[37:41] What Talor does to get protein into her diet as well.
[41:04] A good diet can change so many things for our kids.

Fri, 06 Mar 2020 - 45min - 11 - Epi 11: How To Get BETTER SLEEP To Perform At Your Best
If you aren’t getting the proper amount of good deep sleep your body needs each night, then you’re setting all of your health goals back. One of the most commonly overlooked aspects of living a healthy life is making sure to get your sleep each night. Jason Sani is back to chat about the most common sleep blocks and how you can overcome them.
Most people do not get the proper amount of sleep each night. Whether it’s because of late-night screen usage, a wandering mind, or distractions, sleep is an elusive thing for much of the population. Two of the easiest things for you to control are the amount of light you’re exposed to and the temperature of your room.
When your eyes are exposed to any light, you are less likely to sleep deeply. Make sure to close your blinds and turn off all of your devices at least 30-minutes before bed to signal your body to start the wind-down process. Also, for most people, the optimal temperature for good sleep is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit.
Jason and I chat about the various dietary things you can do to enhance sleep and why sleep tracking is so important. Many of the things we put into our bodies directly affect the quality of the sleep we get. Each person is different, however, so having a good sleep and activity tracker will help you understand what is good and bad specifically for you.
If you’re just starting out on your health and wellness journey, know that you can take incremental steps toward changing your sleep habits. If you’ve been following your path for a while and have it a plateau, consider tracking your sleep to see if that is where your issue is. Jason and I share so many tips and tricks for getting better sleep each night. If this is one of your blocks, then you won’t want to skip this episode.
In This Episode:
[02:35] Sleep is an integral part of building health. Jason Sani is back to discuss.
[05:15] What has Jason done to help improve his sleep?
[07:03] Why stress and energy management is the foundation of good health and sleep is the concrete.
[09:30] Jason shares basics tips on how to get into a deep sleep.
[11:25] The most basic things that affect your sleep is the level of darkness you sleep in and the temperature.
[13:29] What are the things that get in the way of good sleep?
[15:35] Make sure you take time to be aware of how different things affect your sleep.
[16:48] Why don’t people get enough sleep?
[18:44] Sleep tracking is another way of figuring out how you can get the most effective sleep time.
[22:47] Happiness leads to feelings of peace, which also helps encourage deep sleep.
[24:56] Why is nose-breathing so important to health and sleep?
[27:31] How can you bring down the energy that you gain from caffeine?
[28:52] Learn how food affects your sleep cycle.
[31:30] Does Glycine help increase deep sleep?
[33:41] Don’t be too hard on yourself. Make changes slowly to create a better routine.
[36:06] Talor shares why he enjoys using the Oura ring for tracking his sleep.
[38:47] Why you should track rather than take other people’s word on what works.
[42:03] Learn how getting sunlight in the morning helps prepare you to sleep at night.
[45:22] Going outside and getting sun throughout the day is essential for a healthful life.
[48:23] Drinking a warm tea or decaf coffee after a meal can also help with getting your body ready for sleep.

Thu, 13 Feb 2020 - 1h 05min - 8 - Epi 08 STRENGTH TRAINING for Beginners to Advanced and why you MUST be doing it!
Strength training is not something you do just to build muscle. Rather strength training is meant to build overall mobility and function throughout all body systems. Jason Sani, a certified nutritionist and trainer joins me on the show to discuss how and why strength training should be used to build peak performance bodies.
First, stop thinking about strength training as a way to just build muscle. When you build body strength, you’re building a foundation for better movement and health. Second, strength training does not mean pushing your body to the limit each and every workout.
Jason shares his ideal strength workouts and what a week in his workout schedule looks like. Many times he uses a lower weight with complex body movements to build strength and mobility at the same time. So many times his clients complain of stiffness and soreness, but it can usually be traced back to immobility.
Listen in as Jason and I share our journies with strength training and how they have evolved over time. We have both fallen victim to the mentality that increasing weight and working until failure were the only ways to build muscle and overall strength.
We share how our lifting philosophies have changed, why, and how to start implementing proper strength training into your routine.
For so many people, working out is an outlet needed to relieve stress. When you do strength training properly, you can get the same outlet with more measurable results. If you’ve been on the fence about starting a strengthening workout, you need to listen to this episode.

Stress is not always an external factor. Many times we add stress to our body’s systems by introducing foods and drinks that we cannot adequately process and digest. Everybody is different and needs different fuel and food medicine. The first step to understanding your individual makeup is to keep track of the foods you eat and how you feel after.
However, when tracking isn’t enough, that maybe when you need to see a naturopathic medical doctor. Dr. Worden shares which tests she recommends most frequently to her patients so that she can diagnose the underlying problems causing their symptoms. For instance, broccoli is an amazing vegetable that has wonderful health benefits when prepared and eaten properly… unless you have a food sensitivity to it.
Once you figure out how you’re taxing your body internally, look at the external factors that are affecting your health. Listen in as Dr. Worden shares how she recommends you remove the toxins from your life. The work that she is doing has helped people heal from cancer and autoimmune diseases despite advanced diagnoses.
You’ll definitely want to listen in and hear all of Dr. Worden’s wonderful advice. Age is nothing but a number and your physical manifestations of stress likely have nothing to do with aging. Stop using excuses and start working toward understanding your biochemical makeup and what you should be doing to live your best life.

Wed, 22 Aug 2018 - 41min - 2 - Epi 02 How To Transition Into Keto With A Plant Based Option
Have you ever tried a food plan or diet? There are hundreds to choose from, each one following a prescribed set of healthy living rules. Here’s the better question though, did any of them work? Lynee Palacios of Healthy Self Keto is joining me to share about her journey while creating a plant-based keto lifestyle that not only works but continues to provide her and her clients with results.
Lynee is no stranger to healthy meal plans. As a dietitian and nutritionist as well as a former bodybuilder, she is extremely familiar with all the healthy or seemingly healthy diets out there. She had a client as about keto, but because she wasn’t familiar with it, she wanted to dig deeper.
She already knew that excessive animal proteins and fats didn’t work well with her body, so she set out to create a plant-based keto diet. Not only did she succeed but she’s found ways to create delicious and healthy meals for herself and her clients.
She created Healthy Self Keto to share her new eating plan and then also created Healthy Self Kitchen to create healthful meals for anyone looking to start on this lifestyle change. Listen in as she shares what it took to create the plan, all the benefits she’s reaped since she started, and why neither she nor her clients intend to quit. From no longer struggling with her weight, not being hungry, and no longer having skin issues, she sees no reason why she should quit.
If you’ve been considering going keto, then you won’t want to miss all of Lynee’s advice and golden nuggets of information.
In This Episode:
[01:37] Welcome Lynee (Laney) Palacios a registered dietitian and naturopathic doctor to discuss a different take on keto.

Wed, 15 Aug 2018 - 41min - 1 - Epi 01 Practical Lifestyle Tips For Managing Stress & Staying Healthy
Living a healthy life means understanding how you can positively impact your stress and energy levels through diet, exercise, and good sleep habits. Jason Sani joins me to share his tips and tricks for building consistent energy stores and why your mindset is the key. Listen in to hear how food, sleep, and exercise impact your overall health and you can start making changes today.
Few people realize how much of an energy drain eating food and then digesting it is on the body. You have over 20 feet of intestines in your body working to process the foods you eat. That is a lot of tissue your body has to power just to properly use the fuel you provide to it. This is just one of the many reasons that eating a healthy diet is paramount to good health.
Something to keep in mind is that the food we eat today is nothing like the food we ate even 20 years ago. You may find that the food you’ve eaten your entire life is the cause of your lack of energy. The first step to understanding how what you eat affects your life is to start a food journal and keep track of everything you’re eating.
Even if you can only journal a few days at a time, this practice will open your eyes to how much you’re eating and which foods drain your energy.
Sleep and exercise go hand in hand with helping to boost your energy levels. People today tend to get less and less sleep and this has been directly correlated with the increasing number of Alzheimer’s diagnoses. Set yourself up for success by creating a bedtime routine you can stick to and stick to it. Your body needs periods of rest to regenerate and build cells. Give it the time it needs.
Exercise boosts energy in multiple ways. First, you experience the endorphins and focus that comes with getting in a good work out. Then your body continues to function at a higher level because the more you move and the stronger you are, the more energy you have. You can also multi-task during your workouts and listen to books or podcasts. Work your body and mind at the same time to sustain higher levels of energy.
Jason shares some amazing tips and advice during our discussion that will help you get started on the path to a healthier life today. Listen in and let us know how these tips help you.
