Today, we are going back into the archives to bring you a classic replay called "I Know God Loves Me But Does He Like Me?" It was originally released back in Season 2 on December 10, 2020, and I think it's a great one for us to listen to with where many of us find ourselves today. As we enter a new year, we often set new year goals, make resolutions, maybe choose a word for the year, all with the purpose of either growing in our personal lives or growing more in our faith. But what happens when the crap hits the fan and you look back and realize that even though you had good intentions, you feel like you're farther from God than when you started.   For those of us who are parents, we know that somedays are harder than others. There's a phrase out there that goes, "we love our kids but at the moment, I don't like them very much," especially when they do things to intentionally hurt us, themselves, or others, and since we often relate to God how we relate to our own parents or our children, maybe you've sat back and wondered, "Does God like me right now?" This week, we are reflecting on the fifth and final advent candle: The White Candle, symbolizing that Jesus is here!   The word advent means “coming” or “arrival” and speaks of Jesus’ arrival that first Christmas morning in Bethlehem.  The season of Advent is a time when we joyously and prayerfully anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ first coming. And, we look forward to His second coming, while also affirming that He is present in the world today offering His redeeming love to anyone who will simply receive it.   One of the most beautiful symbols of the Advent season is the traditional Advent wreath. This Advent wreath is intended to help us keep our focus on the real reason for the season – the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This week, we are reflecting on the second advent candle: Peace.   The word advent means “coming” or “arrival” and speaks of Jesus’ arrival that first Christmas morning in Bethlehem.  The season of Advent is a time when we joyously and prayerfully anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ first coming. And, we look forward to His second coming, while also affirming that He is present in the world today offering His redeeming love to anyone who will simply receive it.   One of the most beautiful symbols of the Advent season is the traditional Advent wreath. This Advent wreath is intended to help us keep our focus on the real reason for the season – the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In the last handful of years, conversations around transgenderism have grown to common place to the point where the church now has to ask a question, “How should we think and respond to this movement?” In answering this question and others around the LGBTQ+ community, the church is starting to draw lines in the sand and separating from one another.
