DI-DI-DI-DIAL IN to hear all about “Dial Tone” from this weeks Ranch Local Spotlight Artist, Mackenzie Leigh Meyer!
Mackenzie joins Jackie on-air around 4:30pm EST tomorrow, February 3rd!
"As a CMA Ontario nominee for “Roots Artist of the Year” and recent Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase finalist, up and comer Mackenzie Leigh Meyer is already getting industry nods for her unique style and enchanting vocals.
Since the May 2018 release of her debut EP “Dive Bar Diva”, the Hamilton, ON native has caught the attention of quite a few country music fans. Including renowned producer Ken Scott (David Bowie, Supertramp) who exclaimed “ Watch out Carrie Underwood” after working with Meyer on EP power-ballad “Should Have Known”.
After spending 2019 touring the EP at festivals like Boots and Hearts, Havelock Jamboree and Lucknow’s Music in the Fields to name a few, Meyer headed back into studio to create new music. In October 2020 she debuted dreamy-love-ballad “Before You”produced by Jeff Dalziel (2019 CCMA Producer of the Year), who had invited Meyer to work with him after hearing the song at the CMA Ontario’s Demorama event in 2019. The song landed Meyer on her first two editorial playlists (Spotify - Live Country / Amazon - Breakthrough Country) and has garnered over 29,000 views on the accompanying music video.
Trading “lovey” for “sassy”, the pair again teamed up for Meyer’s latest single “Dial Tone”; an audacious, tell-it-like-it-is anthem for those who’ve had to suffer through conversations with dull, boring and ignorant people. Reintroducing Meyer to Spotify’s Live Country and Amazon’s Breakthrough Country playlists, the single has garnered over 230,000 streams on Spotify alone, making it Meyer’s highest streamed song to date.
Whether it’s her velvety vocals, or unapologetic lyrics, when Mackenzie Leigh Meyer sings, people listen. "Sat, 05 Feb 2022 - 46 - Jeff Catto

Brittany grew up on traditional country music from Vern Gosdin and Dottie West to Johnny Horton and George Strait. In later years she was listening to LeAnn Rimes, The Dixie Chicks, Lee Ann Womack and Martina McBride. She even found inspiration in The Spice Girls. They were what got her through her formative years, being bullied throughout her childhood. “One day I will thank them in person!”
Brittany has a powerful set of pipes with full vocal range. She loves a power ballad. She began performing in singing competitions at the age of 8 and never looked back. She now has several singles on Country Radio, also available on all digital music platforms.
Brittany has been writing from a very young age and has a variety of songs she has written with special reasons in mind ...
“Phoenix” was co-written by Brittany to reflect on growing up being bullied. It has been an Anti-Bullying Campaign song in Canada and Australia.
Brittany travels the world finding new fans along the way, and she shows no signs of slowing down. Throughout the USA and Canada, Brittany performs the Canadian and American National Anthems at major events. Sun, 22 Aug 2021 - 34 - Warren Hargraves
This week's Local Spotlight Artist is London, Ontario's, Warren Hargraves, and his brand new single "Cold One"!
"Warren has a very unique style, a smooth yet raspy voice, with a blend of Country Rock and R&B. Born in London, Ontario he has shaped his music with a vintage-meets-modern charm. Although his musical journey started out with him playing the drums at 14, it wasn't until age 16, that he discovered the acoustic guitar and singing. Surrounded by a musical family certainly helped. After flunking out on a song & experiencing the boos of a crowd, he channeled his efforts into something more tangible, playing his dad's guitar on a mission to disprove the virtual crowd. With guidance, he began to strum chords and craft vocal lines.
He continued to hone his craft independently until he began collaborating with classmate Josh Try. They formed Five Oceans, a country/rock group featuring Warren's songwriting and Try’s guitar work. He's shared the stage with Gord Bamford, Dierks Bentley, & Genevieve Fisher, playing shows across Ontario & captured the top spot in the contest 'London Covers'.
Over time, the band gradually got into more rock and pop which led him to return to his country roots, with singles in 'Entwined', and 'When You Go' tackling one's struggle with the circle of life. His songs are about real life which makes his songs relatable.
During covid pandemic, Hargraves and Try made the decision to reset themselves, more firmly in the country realm returning to Warren's roots, as a country singer-songwriter. His music is influenced by some old-school greats like the Eagles and the Allman Brothers, as well as Chris Stapleton and Brothers Osborne.
His most recent release is called “Cold One” produced by Jordan Honsinger and co-written with Josh Try and Mark Swan. Make sure you check it out, wherever you choose to buy, stream your music. This may be the first time hearing of Warren, but it won’t be the last! He’s got a great future ahead of him in the music industry, so hop on and join the ride!"Sun, 01 Aug 2021 - 33 - Naomi Bristow
July 22nd, 2021 - Beeton's heavily requested Yodelin' Cowgirl, Naomi Bristow joins us in this weeks Spotlight!
"Naomi is a young cowgirl that hails from a small farm in Ontario. Her family was involved in the rodeo life which led her down the path of country, western and gospel music. In the past 15 years she has traveled across the countryside in Canada and the United States performing for thousands, while being rewarded with kindness and admiration from folks of every age. Naomi's love for traditional country music lead her to self-taught yodeling, which she incorporates into her performances for an overwhelming response."

- 30 - Jamie Warren
June 24th, 2021 - Hanover's, Jamie Warren, joins Jackie on-air to chat about his career, traveling Canada, songwriting, his brand new single "Cows and Corn" and more!
"Jamie Warren is generally regarded as the most awarded independent country vocalist in Canada (Junos, CCMAs, OCMAs). Over his 35-year career he has released 54 singles, many of them hits. He’s also known as a great songwriter and if you’ve ever seen him perform live, maybe a comedian!?Jamie lives in Kitchener Ontario, Canada, but was raised in Hanover Ontario where he pursued an adolescent dream of playing professional hockey in the NHL…with music as a background distraction. When he realized that his natural abilities for singing and playing guitar might make it easier to attract the attention of girls, he hung up his skates. Song writing was a logical progression for a sensitive guy who wrote poetry and short stories throughout his high school years.
His interest in music was likely genetic since his mother sang and played piano and his father played guitar and mandolin. Jamie had piano lessons at age 5 and guitar lessons at age 8. By the time he was 10 years old it was tradition for the Warrens to entertain after Saturday night euchre games (a Canadian card-game institution) in their smoke-filled basement. His earliest musical influences were whatever his parents listened to on the radio and the only thing his parent’s radio seemed to play, was country music. To this day he’s still a huge fan of Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline. Later in high school his best friend’s older brother exposed him to celebrated vocal groups like The Eagles, America, Poco and CSNY. Jamie has always had an appreciation for Texas singer-songwriters like Radney Foster, Lyle Lovett and Rodney Crowell.
Jamie attended Conestoga College to study Broadcasting. His goal was to become the youngest general manager of a mid-market radio station, but he emerged instead with a desire to sing for a living. What changed his mind? Jamie won a regional talent show at London Ontario’s Western Fair which sent him to Memphis Tennessee for an international competition where he placed second. Jamie then stayed in Memphis, while he worked a one-year gig at Libertyland Theme Park as an entertainer. He still feels a connection to Memphis, the city that kicked off his career."

June 17th, 2021 - Chelsea McWilliams from The Redhill Valleys joins Jackie on air to talk about their brand new single and music video for "Finish Line"!
" The Redhill Valleys is a four-piece Americana & Roots Rock group originally based out of Hamilton, Canada, where their grit and determination developed early on as an independent band. Somewhere between the rugged Northern landscapes and a resilient blue-collar steel town, band members Chelsea McWilliams (Bass/Vocals), Tim Allard (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Danielle Beaudin (Guitar/Vocals), and Matt Soliveri (Drums) found an undeniable chemistry and a shared passion for songwriting, and Rock and Roll.Their exciting sound is an amalgam of Rock, Americana, and Alternative Country, with powerful, earthy harmonies, rootsy guitar licks, and timeless lyrics. This Canadian band is carving their own path with an edge towards driving the evolution and resurgence of Americana back into mainstream music, with influences from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Neil Young, The Band, and Fleetwood Mac.
The Redhill Valleys emerged with a force onto the Canadian music scene in 2016 and have remained steadfast on the Indie path. They have since gained recognition nationwide, with notable awards and nominations in the respected Alternative Country genre, and as a band you do not want to miss."

"Aaron Goodvin’s new Reviver Records/Warner Music Canada single in the United States is set to establish a new beat in country music for 2021.“Lonely Drum” is the song that lit the fuse of a national radio phenomenon in Canada and a global obsession resulting in “Lonely Drum” flash mobs from Australia to Switzerland to Las Vegas and an award-winning line dance craze in over a dozen countries, from Taiwan to France to right back here in the US.
This game-changing single for Aaron’s career is already a platinum-selling success in his home country of Canada and led to his win of the

Wed, 23 Jun 2021 - 26 - Coty Robinson
A newcomer to the music scene, this week our Local Spotlight shines on Dorchester boy, Coty Robinson, and his debut single "Waste Of A Summer."
"A big man with a big voice, Coty Robinson is ready to introduce himself.A native of Dorchester, Ontario, Coty Robinson is no stranger to a microphone. Having the opportunity to be one of the home game in-house announcers for his home team, the Dorchester Dolphins, gave him valuable experience winning over a crowd.
After the loss of his mother at a young age, Coty dove headfirst into music as a way to cope with the pain and heartbreak and to honour her memory. For Coty, connecting with music was a way to express his own experiences, struggles, and emotions.
When he was unable to find the words to say, a song always could.
In 2019, Coty challenged Canadian country star Brett Kissel to a game of backstage beer-pong over Twitter. Kissel accepted, and Coty triumphed over the singer. After being egged on to sing in front of Brett by some friends, Coty sang an acapella verse and chorus of a Luke Combs hit for Brett and his band. They were blown away. Brett and Coty stayed in touch, leading to Coty performing at the London show of Kissel's 2020 Drive-In Tour.
A fan of country music first, Coty’s biggest aspiration is to bring the joy of connection through music and song and be able to share the experience with others.
Coty Robinson is set to record and release his debut EP in 2021. The album was recorded at OCL Studios in Chestermere, Alberta with JUNO award-winning producer and four-time Canadian Country Music Association Guitar Player of the Year, Matty McKay.
The EP will feature songs Coty has co-written about life, love, loyalty, friendship, and small-town living."
Sun, 30 May 2021 - 25 - Aaron Allen
Born and raised in Chatham, Ontario, now residing in London. This week's Local Spotlight shines on 2020 CMAO Rising Star, Aaron Allen!
Jackie and Aaron talk about the upcoming CMAO's, a new top secret project Aaron's working on, and more!
"Aaron’s story will sound familiar to many. Faced with some serious personal challenges as he entered his teenage years, country music became his lifeline and songwriting the outlet for his pain and frustration. Allen made a promise to himself that he would make country music his career, even though – thanks to his wife – tattooing eventually helped pay the bills. “All I had was my voice and a guitar so country music was really the only way to go for me,” Allen says. “I’ve always loved how simple and direct great country songs are. They go straight to the heart and that’s what I’ve always tried to achieve with songs I write. I feel like my favourite artists are speaking specifically to me and I hope people have that feeling when they hear my songs.”
Keeping the momentum going Aaron released his new EP Highway Mile on April 3rd, 2020 produced by Jeff Dalziel."Mon, 17 May 2021 - 24 - The Washboard Union
Aaron from The Washboard Union joins Jackie on air to talk about their brand new single "Never Run Out Of Road."
"On their new album Everbound, The Washboard Union secure their status as one of Canada’s preeminent country bands with 10 songs that celebrate the simple joy of life. The follow-up to their 2018 album What We’re Made Of—which earned the trio their first JUNO Award for Breakthrough Group Of The Year—Everbound keeps the good times rolling with an irresistible blend of roof-raising anthems and poignant ballads. The impeccable three-part harmony and top-notch musicianship once again displayed by Aaron Grain, Chris Duncombe and David Roberts is only one aspect of The Washboard Union’s appeal. With about 30 songs in the running to make Everbound’s final cut, the group was determined to offer only their best material, aided by the keen ears of Nashville producers Gordie Sampson, Thomas “Tawgs” Salter and producer Karen Kosowski, who also co-wrote the album’s uplifting first single “Country Thunder.” Accompanied by a video starring puppet versions of Aaron, Chris and David, its quick rise up Billboard’s Canada Country chart made the song their highest charting single to date.
There are sure to be many more converts in the wake of Everbound as The Washboard Union continue to prove that creativity is not limited by the use of traditional instruments. Although they will still be called country, The Washboard Union will always sound exactly like who they are."
Sat, 08 May 2021 - 23 - Callie McCullough
Growing up just down the road and now taking the country music world by storm, this week we shine our local spotlight on Callie McCullough!
"A modern songwriter inspired by timeless bluegrass and old-school country music, Callie McCullough has chased her unique muse for years, making contemporary roots music that nods to the legends who came before her. It's a sound anchored by intimate ballads and McCullough's gorgeous voice, whose Alison Krauss-worthy tone and Dolly Parton-sized beauty stand in contrast to her dry humor and larger-than-life personality.
With 2020's After Midnight, McCullough makes her debut as a solo artist. The six-song record was tracked in her adopted hometown of Nashville, where she resettled after spending nearly a decade on the road with other projects. Emotional and eclectic, After Midnight also features first-class picking from members of the Grammy-winning bluegrass band Union Station and western-swing super-group the Time Jumpers. The result is a collaborative and intimate EP that laces McCullough's voice with touches of dobro, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and acoustic guitar, mixing the fresh energy of a rising star with the finesse of a hotshot backing band."

- 18 - Scotty Kipfer
This weeks Ranch Local Spotlight shines on Milverton's own...
Scotty Kipfer!
Scotty joins Jackie on air to chat about everything he's been working on recently!
"Scotty Kipfer was born into a musical family and grew up in small-town Milverton Ontario surrounded by musicians who always encouraged him to play. By three years old, he was tagging along with his dad to perform with the Milverton Legion Band at local nursing homes, with a plastic saxophone in tow. At seven, he was playing fiddle in a family band. He played piano and a number of brass and woodwind instruments until he became enamoured with country music. Scotty was 17 when he finally picked up a guitar and began to write songs.Since then, Scotty has worked for record labels and management firms, as a radio announcer, a cartoonist, and a touring guitar player with several artists. He even transported bodies for the Ontario coroner’s department and local funeral homes which had a tremendous impact on his perspective. “You quickly come to terms with your own mortality doing a job like that,” Scotty explains, “and you’re exposed to a huge range of human emotion. It really made me want to squeeze every bit of joy out of every day I get down here.”
After spending years working in different facets of the music business, Scotty felt the urge to develop his songwriting. He started spending more time working with a community of writers in Nashville while honing his live show with performances throughout Southern Ontario and the American Midwest. At one of his writing sessions, the song “Taking My Time” was born. “I’ll never forget heading home on I-40 after that session,” says Kipfer, “I was listening to the work tape of this goofy love song we’d written, and I finally became aware of who I am and who I was going to be as an artist. It was a light bulb moment for me. I always loved the lightheartedness of the old syndicated country music shows like Hee-Haw and The Grand Ole Opry. I was so drawn in by the wit and charm, and it struck me that these guys were just having a tremendous amount of fun. I knew I had to make a record, and that it had to tap into that essence. It’s funny to me that “Taking My Time” was the song that helped me figure it out - it definitely took long enough!”
Scotty would spend the next two years writing and producing the eleven song album. Rooted in the deep tradition of country music, and influenced by artists like Diamond Rio, Vince Gill, Randy Newman, and Willie Nelson, the record is built on catchy hooks, nostalgic melodies, and clever lyrics. Scotty Kipfer is a country music original. “The record is pretty whimsical. It’s light and fun,” he says. “A lot of it exists purely to make you smile. I try not to take myself too seriously.”
The first single, “Falling Like The Rain”, is a semi-autobiographical song about a shy guy who lands a date with a free spirited girl. When the storm clouds roll in on them, his inclination is to run for shelter but she convinces him to stay a while. She pulls him out of his shell as they dance in the rain, and he falls for her as the raindrops wash away his inhibition. “Stepping outside your comfort zone can be a little awkward,” Scotty says, “but when you give yourself over to it, that’s when the magic happens.”"

This weeks Ranch Spotlight shines on....
Graham Scott Fleming!!!
Tune in everyday this week around 11:50am to hear his brand new single “Déjà Vu”!
Graham joins Jackie on air this Thursday during the 11am hour to chat all about his career!
"Graham Scott Fleming is a singer/songwriter from Elmvale, Ontario with a voice that is unlikely to be forgotten. After winning first place in a competition called North of Nashville star in 2011, Graham’s career as an independent artist was launched. From there he hit the ground running and didn’t look back. He began writing his own original music which eventually led him to open for acts like Derrick Ruttan, High Valley, and Jason Blaine. He has also had the opportunity to collaborate and co-write with such names as Jason McCoy, Jane Bach, Phil Barton, JT harding and many others.
Graham released his first EP ‘Young Wild & Free’ in 2016, at a time which could easily be described as a slightly ‘chaotic’ period in Graham’s life! Not only was Graham writing original music and planning an EP release, he was starring as Charlie Price in Mirvish’s production of Kinky Boots. Kinky Boots was a smash hit in Toronto running for 2+ years, and was extended three times due to the success of the show. Graham was nominated for a Dora Award for Best Male Actor in a musical for his memorable performance. After Kinky Boots closed in Toronto, Graham made a big move to NYC where he made his Broadway debut in Miss Saigon. Between NYC and Ontario, Graham also starred in such shows as the Canadian Premier of Ghost: The Musical, the World premier of Jukebox Hero, and the World Premier of My Very Own British Invasion plus snagged a supporting lead role in a Hallmark movie called Love You Like Christmas, where he wrote original music for the film score. Needless to say, Graham has had a pretty incredible run in many sectors of the music industry, which he is forever grateful for.
Missing his small-town roots and the music he grew up listening to, Graham is emerging himself back into the country music scene with a 2021 release of his new single ‘Déjå Vu.’ More details on the full EP, produced by the boys of The Agenda, will be released in the near future, but for now Graham is gearing up for an exciting new single release for the first time in four years. Influenced by duo Dan & Shay, these tunes are sure to have you belting out loud and catching all the feels.
It’s been a long and difficult year for many due to the pandemic, and Graham is hopeful that things will start to look up in 2021. One thing is for sure - music will always be there to provide that much needed positivity and light, and Graham hopes sharing his stories through music will do just that. Be sure to check out his new single ‘Déjå Vu’ on all streaming platforms - out everywhere!! Don’t forget to follow along the journey on Instagram @grahamsfleming!"
Fri, 19 Feb 2021 - 9 - Justine Chantale
THIS WEEKS LOCAL SPOTLIGHT...
Shines on Stratford, Ontario's own...Justine Chantale!
Jackie chats with Justine about her brand new, recently released, radio single and ep!!
"One of the most promising artists in Canada's up-and-coming music scene, Justine Chantale has been described as the small-town girl with the big voice, and even bigger heart. After all, for this Stratford chanteuse, music has been a driving force for as long as she can remember."
"I started singing when I was eight, in the school choir — but I never really got into playing guitar or taking voice lessons until later on," she explained. "It wasn't until I stumbled upon an open mic that I really realized what I could do."And while the would-be singer/songwriter had been unsure about which direction her career might take, mom and dad had already set her on an epic path of inspiration, one paved with a mutual love of country music and classic rock.
"I grew up listening to a lot of country, my mom was into musicians like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, while my dad was all about CCR and Blue Rodeo." she said with a smile. "That appreciation really created a lot of diversity in the kind of music that would influence me down the line. I'm pretty lucky that way."
Now, showcasing a blend of country and pop, Justine has continued to make a name for herself across the region, not only hitting the stage during Country Music Week at the 2016 Canadian Country Music Association Awards in London, Ont., opening for landmark artists including Jess Moskaluke, Chad Brownlee and Bobby Wills, but a number of venues including London Music Hall and Trackside Music Festival, as well as recently opening for The Proud Sons at London's downtown staple, Rum Runners.
Justine will also be hitting the studio next spring, continuing to work on her second EP, a follow-up to 2015's Stepping Stones.
"For me, writing and playing has always been a form of self-expression, but also a way to get my point across to people and to connect," she said. "Sometimes words don't always do the job — but music does. Getting up and performing is so therapeutic ... and if it can really touch people, that's why I do it."

"A Toronto, Ontario native, David Boyd Janes is being recognized as one of country music’s most promising new artists – and he owes everything he has accomplished so far to the decision he made two years ago of quitting his job to focus on music fulltime. The valiant move paid off quickly; 2019 was a monstrous year for the budding country star.“I truly feel like I’m stuck in the greatest dream I’ve ever had and I hope I never wake up,” says David. “I have no idea what’s around the corner but I’m really excited to greet it and embrace it all.”
He emerged out of 100 artists to win The Next Country Music Star contest put on by the Havelock Country Jamboree, and was named Artist of the Year at the Mississauga Music Awards. Another win at the Country Wild Music Festival in Cobourg, Ontario, earned David a trip to Nashville to record a song with Grammy-winner Jamie Tate. Before David even released the song – Ready For A Good Time – Montana’s restaurant chain chose it to be featured in their advertisements airing nationwide on both tv and radio. After winning the Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase, he not only got the opportunity to perform in front of 25,000 country fans on the final night of the festival, but with the win came a single release contract through Warner Music Canada.
The song - Couldn’t Hurt -was written with country superstar James Barker, fellow CMAOntario Award nominee Aaron Alan and industry veteran Joe Ernewein.
2020 has also seen David earn his first CMAOntario Award nomination in the Rising Star category, and while plans for a robust tour had to be put on hold, next year is shaping up to be his busiest yet."
