Episode 432 of Concert Pipeline featuring Martin Barre of Jethro Tull in which we talk about memories of joining Tull and playing on their 1969 album “Stand Up,” the change in dynamic of the band in 1980 around “A” album, which was supposed to be an Ian Anderson album, but became a Tull album, revisiting Tull songs for the 50th anniversary of the band and playing “Aqualung” in its entirety, touring with Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, his expansive guitar collection, running marathons, and his upcoming tour “A Brief History of Tull.”

Episode 429 of Concert Pipeline featuring Tess & The Details, in which we discuss the band’s formation with founders Tess Stevens and Gideon Berger, starting with Tess identifying as a solo artist and realizing she had a band, family influences as well as artists that impacted them, opening for Skating Polly, their debut EP “Runaway” that released on November 14, and their upcoming show at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco on December 15.

I had a chance to talk to our most frequent guest and my favorite musician briefly during a fan club hangout with Josh Partington, in which we chat about cover songs, Bobby “Raw” Anderson’s first show with the band, and my first interview with Andrew in 2004, which Andrew was using clips from to introduce the band at their Vegas reunion. I am also joined by my daughter, Fern, on the program to cover the Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness show at the Fillmore, including performances from AMiTW, Michigander, and Wildermiss.

We discussed the tribute starting in 2016, working with Ginger Baker on his last studio recordings, recording at Abbey Road Studios, their new album “Heavenly Cream: An Acoustic Tribute to Cream” out 11/3, and his new solo album/tour he is working on.

Episode 416 of Concert Pipeline, a tribute to Steve Harwell (Smash Mouth), who passed away today, 9/4/23. I reflect on seeing Smash Mouth as my first concert when I was 14, getting to go backstage at a radio station concert and Steve being cool to take a few pictures with me, replay my interview with Steve Harwell and Smash Mouth at BottleRock in 2014, and include my interview with Zach Goode, the new lead singer of Smash Mouth from 2022, as well as share performances from Smash Mouth in 2014 and 2022.

Episode 415 of Concert Pipeline in which we talk to Tom Heyman about his long history in San Francisco starting with his first visit in ’68, his former band “Go to Blazes,” hitchhiking across the country after High School, some of the places he loves to see shows at in the city, and his new album “24th Street Blues” out on October 6. Episode 414 of Concert Pipeline featuring Bluphoria, in which we chat with Reign LaFreniere, about his influences growing up, including his mom who was a musician in the 90s, growing up in NorCal, picking up and learning the guitar on his own, a significant tarot reading in Sedona, AZ, recording with Mark Needham and the band’s self-titled album that came out in May.

We had the chance to talk to Drew about playing Red Rocks with Michael Franti, the lessons he teaches his kids about hard work paying off, putting everything on the line to invest into his music, playing 37 shows with a broken elbow, his new album “Flowers From the Fray,” and his upcoming show at The Chapel in San Francisco on October 12.

I had a chance to talk to Dan about his start in music, his friendship and the dynamic with his bandmate Eric Lowen and the impact of being by his side at the end of his life, being a part of the smash Pixar hit “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the loss of Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, and his new album “Horizon Line.” Dan also played a song for the program!

I had the chance to chat with Chris Impellitteri and Rob Rock about how seeing KISS and Van Halen live changed Chris’ life, the discipline required to become one of the best shredders, the dynamic of their relationship that kept bringing Rob back to the band, Graham Bonnet’s imprint on the band that helped build their presence in Japan, the challenge of recording an album on opposite sides of the country, Chris spending 16 hours in a day trying to get one guitar solo right, and their new 3 CD compilation “Wake the Beast: The Impellitteri Anthology” out September 30.

We had a chance to chat with Conor Maynard about growing up with musical influences, the impact of winning MTV’s Brand New Award, the level of attention put into writing and recording sing-offs, covering “Dance with Somebody” in an unexpected way, pranking Tom Holland, and whether he will write another book. Then we cover Dave Matthews Band’s show at Stateline, playing a few songs from the show.
