Fri, 17 Dec 2021 - 31min - 11 - 90° South - Preparations for the Ride
Even a brief summary of Royal Enfield’s history reveals a strong spirit of exploration, of riders who didn’t think twice before trusting their Royal Enfields to take them where few, if any, had ventured before.
Now, in our 120th year, these adventurers have inspired us to ask… where to next? The answer: all the way to the South Pole!
In this #adventurediaries episode, Gordon May speaks with the people behind the epic ride and discusses the preparations they have made to the Himalayan. They are:
Sune Tamm - Director of Operations at Arctic Trucks, Royal Enfield’s logistics partner for the 90° South ride. Sune has been to the frozen continent numerous times but this will be the first time he is accompanied by a motorcycle. Sune provides an in-depth insight into the continent and the rules of living and operating there.
Paolo Brovedani - Royal Enfield’s Head of Product Development. Paolo is based at the UK Royal Enfield Technical Center. His vast experience and knowledge has served as the guiding force for both the UK and Indian development teams preparing the Himalayans that will ride on the frozen continent.
Steve Randle - Royal Enfield’s UK Test Team Manager based at the UK Royal Enfield Technical Center. Steve describes key modifications made to the Himalayans to cope with the extreme cold and treacherous ice and snow.

Fri, 17 Dec 2021 - 44min - 10 - Timeless Classic - Ep 08 - Riders stories - Part 6
In this #TimelessClassic episode of the Ride Pure podcast, Gordon May speaks with two more American Classic riders, Peter Domorak and Amanda Sundvor.
Originally from Slovakia, Peter Domorak is an editorial and commercial photographer based in New York City. His fascination with Royal Enfields began over a decade ago when he first set eyes on one while on a trip to Nepal. His Classic 500, which he affectionately calls Hemingway, has been his trusted companion on rides all over NYC.
Residing in Portland, Ohio, Amanda Sundvor works as the marketing manager for a major motorsports gear manufacturer. She loves her Squadron Blue Classic because it has old-time classic appeal combined with the creature comforts of a modern motorcycle. Her dream is to attach a sidecar to it so her dog can ride alongside her!

Mon, 06 Dec 2021 - 36min - 9 - Timeless Classic - Ep 07 - Riders stories - Part 5
In this #TimelessClassic episode of the Ride Pure podcast, Gordon May speaks with three more South African Classic riders, Fred Strydom, Lesley-Ann Green and Keith Robbertze.
Based in Mossel Bay, Fred Strydom rides a 2016 Classic 500 Chrome affectionately named Brumby after Elyne Mitchell's novel, The Silver Brumby. In twenty years of riding, Fred has owned five different motorcycles, all of which just felt like machines. That changed when he first laid his hands on his Classic and discovered that this motorcycle had a ‘personality’. He strongly believes that once a bond is forged between the Classic and its rider, it's next to impossible to break!
Lesley-Ann Green loves the Classic 500, which she says is completely different from any of the other motorcycles she has ridden. She now owns two which, she says, her fellow biking friends describe as a touch of madness! She also says her Classics have given her ‘moments of unadulterated joy’.
Keith Robbertze of Cape Town rides a Classic 500 black adorned with custom detailing. He's not new to the world of Royal Enfield and has previously enjoyed many great adventures on a Bullet, riding around the South African countryside including across the famous Swartberg Pass. His enthusiasm for Royal Enfield is obviously infectious as his son recently bought a Classic 500 so they could ride together.

Wed, 13 Oct 2021 - 21min - 6 - Timeless Classic - Ep 06 - Riders stories - Part 4
In this #TimelessClassic episode of the Ride Pure podcast, Akash Maithal speaks with three more Indian Classic riders, Col Sohan Roy, Vanaja Jadhav and Robin Abraham.
An Indian Army Veteran, Col Sohan Roy was one of the first people to buy a Classic 500 when it was launched. Almost two decades after his retirement, he continues to be a passionate rider. In his own words, ‘You don't stop biking as you age; you start aging when you stop biking.’ He has travelled far and wide across India on his teal green Classic 500, which he affectionately calls Wizard. Fondly known as the 'Grand old man of Indian motorcycling', Col. Roy is passionate about many social causes and is the founder of 'Save the Girl Child Initiative'.
Vanaja Jadhav is an artist and creative media professional who made two very bold decisions. The first was to quit her job and start a food truck dishing out yummy eats in the commercial hub of Mumbai and the second was to buy a Royal Enfield Classic, even though she didn’t know how to ride. She quickly learned and, having discovered the joys of two-wheeled exploration, now regularly tours the Indian countryside with friends.
A BPO professional from Navi Mumbai, Robin Abraham has been an avid biker for as long as he can remember. In acknowledgement of his signature long beard, Rob calls his well-known social media account Beardo Rob! He says his motorcycle, which he has named Classic Optimus after the Transformers character, is his favourite partner on the highways and byways of India.

Thu, 30 Sep 2021 - 24min - 5 - Timeless Classic - Ep 05 - Riders stories - Part 3
In this #TimelessClassic episode of the Ride Pure podcast, Gordon May speaks with two North American Classic riders, Jeremy Pendergas and Craig Harkins.
Iowa-based Jeremy Pendergast manages renowned Royal Enfield dealership, Baxter Cycles. He caught the motorcycling bug from his father and bought a Chennai-made Royal Enfield Bullet as his first bike. Since then, Jeremy has gone on to restore several British Interceptors, including a rare 700cc VAX model, as well as a collection of 1950's Enfield Indians. His go-to motorcycle, however, is his Royal Enfield Classic 500 which he has modded with a custom seat and off-road tyres for the occasional spin around dirt tracks.
Canadian Craig Harkins is a Toronto-based agricultural professional who has used his maroon Classic Chrome 500 as his regular commuter for the last eleven years. One of his most memorable trips on it was riding 750km from Toronto to Milwaukee in the United States for the opening of the Royal Enfield North America headquarters in 2015.

Mon, 27 Sep 2021 - 39min - 4 - Timeless Classic - Ep 04 - Riders stories - Part 2
In this #TimelessClassic episode of the Ride Pure podcast, Gordon May speaks with three South African Classic riders, Tania Ferreira, Herman Martinus and Elias Basson.
Tania Ferreira is a businesswoman, adventure seeker and Royal Enfield Classic rider from Port Elizabeth on South Africa's Eastern Cape. She was sold on an organised trip to India after seeing pictures of Royal Enfields riding through the snow walls of Baralacha Pass and invested in a Royal Enfield Classic 500 as preparation for the ride. She immediately fell in love with it.
Herman Martinus can often be spotted zipping around Cape Town or winding down the Cape's coastal roads on his Classic 500 Desert Storm, a motorcycle he was inspired to buy after riding one around Nepal. His dream is to one day make a trans-African road trip on it.
Hailing from Stellenbosch, one of the oldest heritage towns in South Africa, Elias Basson instantly connected with the timeless charm of the Classic 500 the first time he saw one. As an engineer, he was enthralled by its simple design and proven engineering. He bought his maroon Classic 500 from an 82-year-old rider who had to give up riding and has never looked back.
