- 123 - Less Than 2000 DIES HARD
'Tis the season, so Adam and Chad answer the age-old question "is Die Hard a Christmas movie?” Instead of concluding the season with stuffing-filled turkey like in years past, this time the dudes wrap it up with milk n cookies… because Chad’s basement studio flooded. Happy Holidays right?
This unfortunate incident leads to an unexpected win: a discussion about everyman John McClain (Bruce Willis) hiding in a building with bloody bare feet and a machine gun f^*king up bad guys in epic fashion.
Adam & Chad then answer the burning question "will there be a season 5 of Less Than 2000?" or will they say happy trails and ride off into the sunset?
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Yippy Ki-Yay, MFers!

Devasting news about Matthew Perry, best known as Chandler from the ultimate 90’s sitcom, Friends. After thoroughly analyzing the good and bad of the show, including Jennifer Aniston and her hairdo “The Rachel,” Courtney Cox as ho-hum Monica, Lisa Kudrow as space cadet Phoebe, Matt LeBlanc as dumb-but-hot Joey, and David Schwimmer as frustratingly hopeless Ross, Adam and Chad pay tribute to the fallen God of Comedy, Matthew Perry.

Thu, 09 Nov 2023 - 121 - Boyz n the Hood vs. Menace II Society
Adam and Chad try to definitely decide which of the most popular "hood movies" of the early 90's is the best. These films were hugely important to young Adam and Chad, and they want to know if they were right for loving them back in the day, and if their opinion has changed over the years.
On the surface, both films are very similar. But "under the hood," there are a lot of major differences. What movie is better in your opinion? Who plays the better gangsta: Ice Cube as Doughboy or Larenz Tate as O-Dog?
*SPOILER WARNING: FULL SPOILERS FOR BOTH FILMS**
Fri, 13 Oct 2023 - 120 - Wayne's World (1992) Party Time, Excellent!
Wayne's World was only the second SNL movie and the first one since Blues Brothers. Mike Myers and Lorne Michaels had a lot riding on this one. Fortunately, Wayne's World was an unparalleled success and launched an era of movies based on SNL sketches.
But was Wayne's World actually any good? Adam and Chad absolutely loved it growing up and quoted it constantly. It shaped them as young preteens. But they haven't watched it since they were kids... what do jaded 40 something Adam and Chad think?
Thu, 28 Sep 2023 - 119 - Pacino vs. DeNiro: Heat (1995)
We bring you Michael Mann’s 1995 masterpiece, Heat. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro face off for the first time on the silver screen, supported by a sick supporting cast featuring Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight, Amy Brenneman, Ashley Judd, and Val Kilmer. Oh, and the most perfect gun fight ever put on film.
But you really want to hear the story about Adam meeting Ton Loc in 2016 and cringingly asking him about working with Al Pacino in Heat.

Well, it took us four seasons and 118 episodes before we put one out without a super focused topic. This week we ask the question, “what’s something you loved as a kid that you’re embarrassed by as an adult?” What shows, toys, fashion trends, and music makes your present adult-self cringe that your past child-self loved? Help us answer that question by chiming in on Facebook or Instagram, and help us determine what the actual show topic and title is!

Adam and Chad geek out on Quentin Tarantino’s finest achievement, the 1994 masterpiece Pulp Fiction, and ask the question “how did a movie this good become so widely popular with audiences and critics?”
The movie that made Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman superstars, recontextualized Bruce Willis, and completely revived John Travolta’s career. Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, Eric Stoltz, and Christopher Walken all provide some of their most memorable performances.

Thu, 27 Jul 2023 - 115 - Little Blue Pill: The Matrix (1999)
One of the most important films of the century: The Matrix (1999). Did it revolutionize or ruin cinema for the next ten years?
Starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, and
Hugo Weaving, and written and directed by the Wachowskis, it’s either a timeless classic or a dated cliché. What pill are you

< ’00 | an Art House Empire Production | #LessThan2000Thu, 13 Jul 2023 - 114 - Noises Off w/ Adam & Chad's High School Director Pt. 2
Part 2 of our epic interview with our high school director and teacher, Mark Schnitzler, aka "Schnitz." In this episode we get into the 1992 movie "Noises Off" starting Carol Burnett, Christopher Reeve and John Ritter, and tell more tales of the 1999 stage production.
Also, twenty-four year old hatchet gets buried. <3
< ’00 | an Art House Empire Production | #LessThan2000Thu, 22 Jun 2023 - 113 - Noises Off w/ Adam & Chad's High School Director Pt. 1
Adam and Chad's high school director and physics teacher joins the show in our best episode yet. Mark Schnitzler, aka "Schnitz," somehow managed to convince a midwestern Catholic high school to allow him to direct the sex farce "Noises Off" in 1999. The 1982 play by Michael Frayne was the basis for the 1992 movie staring an incredible ensemble cast of Michael Caine, Carol Burnett, Christopher Reeve and John Ritter.
Hear stories of how wild Adam and Chad were as teenagers straight from the man who had to deal with them on a daily basis. The secret? Channel their energy by focusing it on a creative project and allow them to have as much coffee as they want.

< ’00 | an Art House Empire Production | #LessThan2000Thu, 01 Jun 2023 - 110 - The Fly (1986) w/ John Liang
The Fly is a light hearted romantic comedy that uplifts the spirit and sooths the soul. Jeff Goldblum plays a quirky scientist that falls “madly” in love with a “smoking”reporter played by the delightful Geena Davis. Hank Scorpio makes and appearance in this hilarious brain child of comic genius Mel Brooks.
Filmmaker (and not at all evil person) John Liang joins the show to break down what exactly makes The Fly (1986) a laugh-out-loud comedy for the entire family.

Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss were known as the Big Six and were the biggest print and runway models the world has ever seen. George Michael’s Freedom 90 will be discussed. Elle MacPherson, Kathy Ireland, Vendela, Christie Brinkley, Iman, Stephanie Seymour, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima, Gisele. - 107 - Let’s Get Weird on Weird Al Yankovic
Weird Al Yankovic. There is no other. Not even close. After starting out in the 70’s doing song parodies on his accordion, he went from a novelty act on the Dr. Demento Radio Show to a worldwide cultural phenomenon by lambasting 80’s megastars Michael Jackson and Madonna. After his 1989 feature film UHF bombed, the Weird One made his first comeback with 1992’s smells like Nirvana, and then make his second comeback with 1996’s Amish Paradise. And crazy enough, his greatest successes would come in the Greater Than 2000 era! The world will never grace us with another Weird Al!

< ’00 | an Art House Empire Production | #LessThan2000Thu, 23 Mar 2023 - 104 - 90’s Tool w/ Joel Egger **Special**
There’s no other band quite like Tool. Juxtaposing dark sounds and images against positive messages about expanding our hearts, minds and souls and evolving as a species. Equal parts terrifying and uplifting. Adam Jones’ signature guitar sound and visceral visuals; Danny Carey’s polyrhythms and unparalleled percussion; Justin Chancellor’s melodic and hypnotic bass; and Maynard James Keenan’s incredible voice, powerful lyrics and enigmatic persona.
Hear us talk about Tool’s evolution from a punk/metal band to a psychedelic progressive band with a heavy focus on 1996’s breakthrough album, Aenima, it’s its impact on music and our lives. And the story about how Adam learned Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Maynard’s feet!

With Scream 6 coming out, Adam figured it might be a good idea to watch the original Scream for the first time. Chad saw it in theaters in 1996 because he actually had friends!
Wes Craven reinvigorated the horror genre in the 90’s by referencing all the typical horror tropes, many of which he invented. With stars like Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox and Rose McGowan, the original Scream became the most successful horror film ever and captured the hearts and minds of a whole new generation.

Beloved (and hated) by many, and considered a comedian’s comedian, Bill Hicks changed the face of standup comedy forever… and the lives of Adam and Chad. (For better or worse!) Bill’s comedy was smart, irreverent, edgy, enlightening, offensive, and most importantly, hilarious.
Many of us heard Bill Hicks before we ever heard his standup from Tool’s 1996 Aenima album or Denis Leary’s No Cure For Cancer. But once you’ve heard one of “Reverend” Bill’s “sermons,” the way you look at the world will change. Always remember: It’s Just a Ride.

< ’00 | an Art House Empire Production | #LessThan2000Thu, 02 Feb 2023 - 99 - Taking the Wolf Out of Teen Wolf (1985)
Hating life now that the new Teen Wolf movie is out? Does Teen Wolf (2023) make you want to take a time machine back to before the world went to hell around the year 2000? If so, reclaim your childhood memories and rediscover whyyou loved the original from 1985 with Michael J. Fox!
When MJF agreed to do Teen Wolf, he was a relatively obscure young actor from Canada. But soon his star blew up from Family Ties and a little movie you may have heard of called Back to the Future. Teen Wolf went from a low budget comedy that would have probably been dead on arrival to a mega hit grossing over eighty million.
Adam and Chad get into their memories of the film back in the day, their thoughts on it now, and about how MJF looked just like Adam when he played basketball. That is, when Chad’s Dad wasn’t benching Adam in the championship game!

We continue our month-long journey into the spooky and the sublime by reviewing a movie we’ve never seen… Dan Aykroyd’s 1991 horror/comedy Nothing But Trouble… and boy is it a scary. As in, scary how bad it is!
How does a movie with Chevy Chase, Demi Moore and John Candy, written and directed by the King of the Ghostbusters, fail so spectacularly? At Less Than 2000, we strive to go deeper than to simply say “it sucks,” so we put on our film student and filmmaker hats to get into the nitty gritty of WHY it sucked so hard. Chad doesn’t think it’s that bad and even his wife got into it. Adam hates it with every fiber of his being but knows why it has some marginal appeal. If nothing else, at least it had Digital Underground and gave us Tupac’s feature film debut!

Directed by Tim Burton and staring Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton, Kim Basinger, Robert Wuhl, Billy Dee Williams and Jack Palance, with music by Prince and Danny Elfman, it was a smash hit beyond Warner Bros.’ wildest dreams.
In 2022, it’s hard to imagine a world where super hero movies aren’t insanely popular, but before Batman came out it was expected to be a massive bomb. All it did was become the biggest blockbuster of 1989 and usher in new paradigm of comic book movies with a unique and fresh take on the genre.

< ’00 | an Art House Empire Production | a proud member of the HyperX podcast Network | #LessThan2000Thu, 24 Mar 2022 - 66 - Deconstructing Ice Cube 1990 – 1993
Adam & Chad LOVED Ice Cube when they were tweeners in the early 90’s. His lyrics opened their eyes to all sorts of things they didn’t experience in their middle class suburban lives. It was SO COOL at the time.
Now that the guys are middle aged professionals, how do they feel about it after going back to Ice Cube’s early solo career for the first time in nearly a quarter century? They grapple with their adulthood and some really rough themes found in the music. Is the music still as cool now as they thought it was then?
This is a different type of episode. A deep discussion of sexuality, race and power in music. And go to Patreon for Part 2 of this episode where the boys dissect each of Cube’s first five albums track by track.

It’s almost impossible to overstate how big Beavis & Butt-Head were in the 90’s. They could make or break a band simply by saying it rules or sucks. Was the show everything that was wrong with youth culture as politicians and parents claimed? Or was it low-key brilliant satire? Do middle aged men still find it as funny as when they were thirteen?

I desperately needed to use the bathroom because the only restaurant in existence is Taco Bell. When I was done I couldn’t find any toilet paper, just a little shelf with three seashells on it, so I swore under my breath and got a fine for violating the verbal morality statute! I tuned on the radio in my self-driving car and all I heard were commercial jingles from the 50’s. I tried to kiss my girlfriend but she told me body fluid exchanges have been outlawed, along with red meat, contact sports, and non-educational toys. The year is 2032.
