Not a good day for the Philadelphia Phillies as they have two separate win streaks snapped, thanks to their 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays Wednesday afternoon. The Phillies had an overall win streak of 7-straight W’s going into the game, that’s over. And they were riding a home win streak at Citizens Bank Park of 11 games. They were just one win shy of matching their record-long home win streak of 12 in the 20 year existence of CBP, set in 2010. Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS: 1) Of course in the previous game, the Phillies MLB ERA leader for eight runs over 3.2 but couldn't get to Chris Bassett who entered the day with a 5.45 ERA. 2) Phillies just couldn't get the big hit in the third or 9th inning. 3) Aaron Nola got GOT in the 6th. Segment 2: Phillies offense unable to pick up their pitcher today. 0-8 w RISP. Segment 3: Looking ahead the Phillies have an off day on Thursday before starting A5 game road trip with three games in Miami and two in New York against the Mets.

Kyle Schwarber came up with a 2-run single in the top of the 2nd inning to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead and that's all the offense that Zack Wheeler and the Phillies’ bullpen would need as they finish off the Angels with a 2-1 victory to take 2 of 3 in this series. The Phillies went 7-3 on their 10 game road trip. Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS: 1) Kyle Schwarber started in LF for the first time this season and was fine in the field, but came up with the only damage the Phillies offense would do in 2nd inning with a 2-run Single. 2) It wasn’t pretty, but he got it done. Zack Wheeler tossed 5 innings allowing just one run but needed 106 pitches to get through it. He picks up his third win of the season. 3) Alex Bohm JUST. KEEPS. HITTING! This third baseman extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the third inning. Segment 2: Crazy stats from games 1 and 3 of this series! You’re not going win a lot of games where you strike out 18 times, but you will win a lot of games where you get 10 free base runners like the Phillies did in game one of this series. The Philadelphia Phillies loss to the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 in the first game of their three-game series. The Phillies were done in by the inability to hit with runners in scoring position (1-for-9) and another poor outing from relief pitcher SerAnthony Dominguez who enters the game in the 7th inning with the score tied at 4. Dominguez went on to allow two runs to cross the plate. Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS: 1) 10 Free Baserunner and a balked in run and the Phillies couldn’t win?!?! That’s terrible! 2) SerAnthony is cooked! Burned in the 7th inning by 3hits, 2 runs and a wild pitch! 3) Alec Bohm is still awesome, the Reigning NFL player of the week came up with three of the Phillies four RBI's. Segment 2: Angels pitcher Griffin Canning was ALL OVER THE PLACE, but the Phillies gave him an easy out in the fifth by giving him a 5-pitch inning. Phillies inability to score more runs after Leadoff runners getting on in the 4th and 7th innings and unable to do more damage in the 5th inning with two runners on with one out. Segment 3: Look ahead to game two of this Three-game series. Spencer Turnbull will start for the Phillies against the lefty Tyler Anderson of the Angels. One thing we need to see in game two, other than Dominguez NOT pitch, is Nick Castellanos get hot. Hit his first homer of the season in San Diego and has been doing better at getting on base. Tonight he smacked a liner to deep right, but Adell made a good play on it, slamming into the wall. Call me crazy, but he seems like a hot streak is just around the corner.

Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Brandon Marsh, Nick Castellanos and JT Realmuto all went yard for the Phils. For Marsh it was part of a 3-for-5 day with 3 RBI's. Alec Bohm extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a 3-for-5 day of his own. The Phillies offense chases Padres’ Starter Joe Musgrove from the game after just 3.2ip. He allowed 7 runs on 8 hits, 4 home runs and 2 walks using 90 pitches. That effort from the bullpen as well as the Phillies bats going just 4-for-16 with runners in scoring position wasted a solid start from Spencer Turnbull. The veteran righty tossed 5 innings of one run baseball in what was likely his last start of the season with Taijuan Walker returning to the rotation. Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS 1) SerAnthony Dominguez’ struggles have become far too much! He threw 32 pitches tonight only sixteen of those were for strikes. All while being charged for four runs in just 2/3 of an inning. 2) Bats could not get the big hit opportunities to break the game wide open in the 2nd 3rd 5th and 7th innings came up small. 3) Hat tip to Alec Bohm for his four hits and two RBI's he deserves to be a top of the order hitter. The Phillies beat the Pirates 4-3 in game three of their four-game series thanks to a walk-off RBI single by Nick Castellanos in the bottom of the 9th! The RBI marked the 2nd of the game for Casty, who also heard boos from the South Philly Faithful after a strike out in the 7th inning. Segment 1: BIG THREE THINGS!!! 1. “We needed that, I needed that.” That’s what Nick Castellanos told the Phillies television network after the game. And he’s right. Since his average sunk to .114 after an 0-for-5 performance in St. Louis, Casty has raised his average to .182. Still not All-Star numbers, but it could be the jump he’s been waiting for. 2. Alec Bohm now has the respect he deserves. After his game-tying RBI single in the 7th, Bohm was intentionally walked in the bottom of the 9th to get to Castellanos. 3. Bryce Harper had his worst at bat as a Phillies (maybe ever) in the 9th inning, when he swung at a 1st pitch that bounced a foot in front of the plate. He ok? Segment 2: How Bout Kyle Schwarber hitting his 3rd homer of the season. This one came on the 2nd pitch from the Pirates’ starter Marco Gonzales. Schwarber went on to have a 3-for-3 day with 2 walks. The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Saint Louis Cardinals 4:00 to 3:00 to notch their second consecutive series win. Aaron Nola got the start for the Phils to win his 2nd game of the season pitching 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks. Both runs charged to Nola came by way of the long ball. Ivan Herrera and Brendon Donovan each hit a solo home run. Segment 1: Phillies win their second straight series. Despite not having his best stuff throwing 95 pitches through just five and 2/3 nola found a way to allow just two hits in his second start of the season. Also Harper and Schwarber came up with the big base knocks! Segment 2: Phillies problems on the base paths. Stop getting thrown out. Stop getting picked off! Segment 3: Hat tip to the Phillies bullpen for being able to pick up Nola when he was done in the 5th inning with just one out to go.
