Evelyn Pierce was born in Mississippi. She has published short stories and two contracted screenplays adaptations, and is currently finishing her novel.

Allison Adelle Hedge Coke, of Huron, Tsa la gi (Cherokee), French-Canadian and Portuguese descent, is an award-winning poet and author. She won the American Book Award for Dog Road Woman in 1998. Her books include the memoir, Rock, Ghost, Willow, Deer, and the poetry collections Off Season City Pipe and Blood Run.

Anita Byerly’s new book, October Light, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2008. Her chapbook, Digging a Hole to China, was published in 2001.

Naomi Shihab Nye is an an award-winning poet, writer, anthologist, and educator. She is the author and/or editor of more than 20 volumes. Her books of poetry include 19 Varieties of Gazelle: Poems of the Middle East, A Maze Me: Poems for Girls, Red Suitcase, Words Under the Words, Fuel, and You & Yours (a best-selling poetry book of 2006). Her books of essays include: Never in a Hurry—and I’ll Ask You Three Times, Are You Okay? Tales of Driving and Being Driven.

Rick Campbell’s new book, Dixmont, was published by Autumn House Press in 2008. Other books include The Traveler's Companion (Black Bay Books, 2004) and Setting The World In Order (Texas Tech 2001), which won the Walt McDonald Prize.

Ann Lauterbach is the author of many books, including The Night Sky: Writings on the Poetics of Experience (New York: Penguin, 2005), Hum (New York: Penguin, 2005), and If In Time: Selected Poems 1975-2000 (New York, Penguin, 2001).

Jan Beatty is the author of three books: Red Sugar (2008), Boneshaker (2002), and Mad River (winner, 1994 Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize), all published by the University of Pittsburgh Press. Her limited edition chapbook, Ravenous, won the 1995 State Street prize. For the past fifteen years, Beatty has co-hosted and produced Prosody, a public radio show on NPR affiliate WYEP-FM featuring the work of national writers. She directs the creative writing program at Carlow University where she teaches the Madwomen in the Attic writing workshops and in the MFA program.

Vijay Nair’s first novel Master of Life Skills was launched by Harper Collins, India, 2006. Dronequill Publishers published The Gloomy Rabbit and other plays, 2003. Nair spent a month long residency at the "City of Asylum,” Pittsburgh.

Terese Svoboda’s memoir Black Glasses Like Clark Kent was published by Graywolf Press in 2008. Her ten books include fiction: Tin God (U of Nebraska Press, 2006); poetry: Mere Mortals (U of Georgia), and translations.

Maggie Anderson is the author of four books of poems: Windfall: New and Selected Poems published in 2000. Her other books include Cold Comfort (1986) and A Space Filled with Moving (1992). Anderson is also co-editor of Learning by Heart: Contemporary American Poetry about School.

Michael McColly is a writer and AIDS activist. His book, The After Death Room: Journey into Spiritual Activism, by Soft Skull Press, follows his search to African-American preachers on the Southside of Chicago, Buddhist monks in a remote Thai monastery, and male sex workers in urban India.

Jean Valentine won the Yale Younger Poets Award for Dream Barker in 1965. Her most recent book is Little Boat (Wesleyan University Press, 2007). Her previous collection, Door in the Mountain: New and Collected Poems 1965 - 2003, was the winner of the 2004 National Book Award for Poetry

Rafael Torch’s work has appeared in the Indiana Review and Crab Orchard Review. He has taught at the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago, Antioch College, and the Latino Youth Alternative High School in Chicago.

Ruth Hendricks is a poet, photographer, and filmmaker. Her film, Quart Jar Poet, featuring the poet Dorothy Holley, premiered in 2005. Her work has been anthologized in After the Bell: Contemporary American Prose about School (U. of Iowa Press)

Jay Carson teaches creative writing, literature, and rhetoric at Robert Morris University. His work has appeared in Paper Street, The Louisville Review, Mudfish, and Southern Indiana Review.

Lidia Torres, a Puerto Rican poet, was born in New York City. A graduate of Hunter College and New York University, she received a poetry fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts. She lives in New York City where she is currently working on a translation project.

Ted Kooser is a poet and essayist, a professor of English at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and most recently, the United States Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress from 2004 - 2006.

Mark Brazaitis is the author of An American Affair, winner of the 2004 George Garrett Prize for fiction, as well as The River of Lost Voices: Stories from Guatemala, winner of the 1998 Iowa Short Fiction Award, and a novel, Steal My Heart.

Richard St. John is the Executive Director of Autumn House Press. His book of poems, The Pure Inconstancy of Grace, was published by Truman State Press in 2005.

David Ebenback is the winner of the GLCA award in fiction for his book Between Camelots. He has also published short fiction in numerous literary magazines, including Denver Quarterly, Beloit Fiction Journal, and Crazyhorse.

Jason Irwin’s new book, Watering the Dead, was published by Pavement Saw Press in 2008, and is the winner of the 2006/2007 Transcontinental Poetry Award. His chapbook, Some Days It's a Love Story, was published by Slipstream in 2005.

Kay Comini’s poetry has been published in the anthologies Dark Side of the Moon, Voices from the Parlor, and in the Sandburg-Livesay Anthology: No Choice But to Trust.

Leslie Anne Mcilroy won the 2001 Word Press Poetry Prize for her full-length collection Rare Space and the 1997 Slipstream Poetry Chapbook Prize for her chapbook Gravel. Her second full-length book, Liquid Like This, was published by Word Press in July 2008

Ava C. Cipri has an MFA from Syracuse University, where she served on the staff of Salt Hill. She now teaches at Duquesne University. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in New Zoo Poetry Review, Whiskey Island Magazine, and Wild Violet.

Peter Oresick is coordinator of the Chatham University Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing. His books include Warhol-o-rama, Carnegie Mellon University Press, 2008; Definitions; An American Peace; Other Lives; The Story of Glass.

Anthony Varallo’s book of stories, OUT LOUD, was selected by Scott Turow as winner of the 2008 Drue Heinz Literature Prize (University of Pittsburgh Press). His first collection, THIS DAY IN HISTORY, won the 2005 John Simmons Short Fiction Award.

Lawrence Connolly’s work has appeared in Amazing Stories, Fantastic Stories, Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone Magazine, Year’s Best Horror Stories, as well as other science fiction/fantasy magazines and anthologies. He lives and writes in Western Pennsylvania.

Richard Russo’s novel, Empire Falls, won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. He has written five other novels: Mohawk, The Risk Pool, Nobody's Fool, Straight Man, and Bridge of Sighs, as well as a short story collection, The Whore's Child.

Cathy Day wrote the nonfiction book, Comeback Season: How I Learned to Play the Game of Love (Free Press) Her first book, The Circus in Winter, a short story collection by Harcourt in 2004, is a fictionalized history of her hometown, Peru, Indiana.
