If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen me share about my girls nights out.

These are something I do for myself 1-2 times per month because these nights bring me back to me.

And every time I talk about these nights, my DM's blow up.

So much so, that I did a poll on IG asking if you wanted me to do a podcast on the value of a girls night and how I intentionally plan these in a way that leaves me feeling connected, energized and full of so much love.

This was the most popular poll I've ever posted so guess what - the time has come to dive deep into the value of girls nights out.

Because the reality is - we are going through a loneliness epidemic as women.

The pandemic truly changed the way we connect.

I know for me, this year I finally felt ready to reemerge back into the world.

I went from starting my business > to my mom being diagnosed with cancer > to losing a baby > straight into the pandemic > to having a baby - OMG.

Needless to say, these last few years have been A LOT as I am sure they have been for you too.

After navigating the pandemic, becoming a caretaker and having my son, I really struggled with feeling disconnected.

I was operating in full on survival mode which left me feeling alone with 0 fuel left in the tank to do anything.

At the end of last year after my son turned 1, I felt myself gaining the capacity to socialize again which was SO REFRESHING because I am an energetic extrovert who definitely recharges through spending time with people I love.

As crazy as it sounds, one of the things that brought me back to life and helped to remind me of who I was on the other side of so many massive life changes was my girls nights out.

Girls' nights offer a valuable opportunity for us to connect, de-stress, express ourselves, receive support and encouragement, and feel empowered, ultimately contributing to a significant increase in confidence levels.

I definitely felt that and my hope is that you will too.

Today I am sharing a keynote speech I delivered at a Women's Empowerment event back in 2020.

I have never shared this before until now.

I asked the event creator for the recording because this speech was powerful, moving, emotional and truly impacted over hundreds of lives in ways I could have never imagined.

This speech is raw, its vulnerable and in all honestly - part of me wanted to die as I delivered this.

Part of me is cringing right now knowing you are about to listen to this.

But my the discomfort my vulnerability is presenting is 100% worth it because I know my words need to be heard.

When I did this speech, I had to dig deep for every once of courage inside of me and am so happy I did because I still have women reaching out to me to this day telling me how deeply this speech touched them.

I am an activator.

And the entire room experienced massive shifts on the other side of this speech.

There were breakthroughs.

Tears.

Everyday we are offered feedback telling us we aren’t enough.

We are told we need to be selfless superwomen who should be able to do it all with grace and ease.

Have you ever stood in front of the mirror trying to say positive things about yourself and no matter how many nice things you say to yourself, you don’t feel better?

In today's episode we are going to talk about why trying to positive self talk yourself into loving yourself doesn’t always work.

Positive self talk can be super helpful BUT if you don’t believe the positive words you are saying, it ends up just being more noise in your brain that can make you feel worse about yourself.

We set out with the best intentions to make ourselves feel better by using positive self talk but when we don't believe the words we are saying to ourself this can:

1. Feed your belief that you aren't good enough & make you feel the need to do even more which leads to feeling exhausted, burned out and over it

2. Put you into the spiral of compare & despair while you should all over yourself (should based thoughts = shame and judgement which will always = a lack of love and acceptance for yourself)

3. Unknowingly empower more negative self talk which further erodes your relationship with yourself & causes you to form more negative thoughts & limiting beliefs about yourself and what is possible for you

4. Cause to you avoid looking at the parts of you that you feel embarrassed or ashamed of which leads to gaining more weight & feeling terrible about yourself because the shame keeps you in the pattern of eating your feelings & avoiding the hard stuff

5. Keep you locked into a space where you have set conditions for your love & acceptance for yourself which will always lead to feeling extremely insecure & like nothing you ever do will be enough

So let's do some work on you today to get you out of this spiral & into a place of loving acceptance for the incredible woman I know you are.
