Regarded as one of the funniest comedy movies of all time, it's the kind of movie not made any more. Comedy from shot to shot, scene to scene. Flying High - known as Airplane around the world, stars Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Liam Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves and even Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Like a sketch show with a plot this movie is a parody of another presumably serious movie but done with the intent to make you laugh, and laugh you will. Stephen describes this as a classic, and rightfully so. Winner of multiple academy awards, No Country for Old Men is set in rural Texas and centres around a long-time Sheriff and his struggles with where the world has gone to. A big drug deal has gone sour in his county and he's on the tail of a hitman out to get the cash back. Rain Man features an outstanding performance by Dustin Hoffman as Raymond - the Autistic Savant who's existence is discovered by his brother Charlie played by Tom Cruise only after their father's death. It's a road trip film, directed by Barry Levinson - and follows Cruise's characters journey of emotional pain, anger and learning to know and love his brother. Hoffman's character performance is one of the best you will see, and it's an eye opening look into his life. You wouldn't know it from the title, or the cover art, but October Sky is the true story of a young man and his mates in a small American Coal Mining town who attempt to build rockets. It's based on four young men who grew up in Coalwood West Virginia and were inspired to build a rocket after the Russians launched Sputnik! Stephen has chosen the 1976 characterisation of King Kong as he believes it's the best. The story of a Giant Ape discovered on a remote island and brought to New York City as a tourist attraction and traveling show. Starring Jeff Bridges, Charles Grodin and the first film role of Jessica Lange - this is a different story to the 1932 and 2005 King Kong's but follows a similar path. Misery is known as a psychological thriller, but Trev learns on his first watch that it's that and much more. Recorded just weeks after the passing of the Movie's star James Caan, Misery is directed by Rob Reiner based on Stephen King's 1987 novel of the same name It could easily be argued though that Kathy Bates stole the show in this one, with an outstanding and rightly Oscar winning performance. So, Stephen's read the book and watched the movie many times, this is Trevor's first go - let's see how that goes down.
