    The U.S. Postal Service is a foundational part of the United States. And during it's nearly 250 year existence it's delivered a lot of mail! One way in which it's been able to be so effectvie is by carving up the country into ZIP codes, which have since spread far and wide to become a defacto geographic unit for things well beyond carrying mail.
