- 18 - Healing Through the Mindfulness of Listening
This is a guided sound meditation practice with the Tibetan singing bowls. It is for healing the body, mind, and heart. Healing can be a practice of contacting the inner discomfort and suffering that we experience. Giving ourself the space and time to be present with this inner experience can be difficult but it is also how we can better understand our own suffering. In the process of healing, we need to consciously give our heart, body, and mind compassion and presence in order to allow healing to unfold.

Sound meditation can remind us that there is something magical to life. It can carry us into daydream states and deeper states of consciousness where we are reminded that our human existence is more than materialism. Even if you personally tend to be of a spiritual mindset, the hyper focus of this culture on material gain, wealth, and social status are often overwhelming. This can make it difficult to make space for spiritual experiences. This podcast discusses how the practice of sound meditation can connect you to the spiritual aspects of yourself.

Harmony is one of the elemental building blocks that makes up music. This episode explores the science behind harmony and presents research that shows how the brain responds to harmony in music.
Example of mathematics in certain sounds:
"A tuba tends to vibrate at a set of frequencies that are mathematically related by whole number ratios. When a pencil is dropped on the floor, it vibrates with a number of frequencies, producing a complex sound wave that is noisy...this object will vibrate at a set of frequencies that have no simple mathematical relationship between them." -PhysicsClassroom.com
Tuba: 200Hz, 400Hz, 600Hz, 800Hz, 1000Hz
Dropped Pencil: 197Hz, 211Hz, 217Hz, 219Hz, 287Hz, 311Hz, 329Hz, 399Hz
