Oh, and it least it gave us the movie The Exorcist III! It's the best version of this weak story, and at times it's truly terrifying! Brad Dourif is amazing!

This week on #BCSC we're diving into the second Cormoran Strike novel! Written by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling), The Silkworm follows The Cuckoo's Calling almost directly. Cormoran Strike has enjoyed (to an extent) a brief period of fame, and his detective business is booming! But now he's taken a new case: searching for a controversial book writer who has gone missing. This, along with increasing personal and professional tensions with his assistant Robin, have Cormoran Strike in some deep doodoo indeed!
Is it obvious I couldn't think of a good way to end that last sentence?
Anyway, just like Cormoran Strike, the Rogers kids are on the case! We read the first half, and we're hear to point out all the clues! I'm sure we didn't miss a thing!

This week on #BCSC we've hit the 100% mark on Jurassic Park, which means we get to close the book and throw it immediately into the fire. Oh, also, we have no choice but to talk about it for you good people. You deserve better than this book.
It's a huge conversation though! I think we touch on everything that happens in the book and everything the book gets wrong. The science, the repetitive theorizing about things that don't matter, the oppressive lack of tension. If you want to read a book about dinosaurs rampaging this book isn't for you. If you want to read a book about the science and ethics of cloning, this book isn't for you.
If you want to read a book where people think in a very inhuman mathematical way about dangerous situations, with a total lack of action or emotion, this book is all yours. You can keep it!
