Tue, 15 Nov 2022 - 40 - Mel Baker - Finding Hope Through Childhood Abuse (4/4)
Mel’s childhood was incredibly hard. Filled with abuse from her father, she ended up on the streets when she was just 16 years old. But, when she was 17 years old, her life was changed by one verse in the Gideon bible – Come to me, all who are weary and heavy ladened and I will give you rest.
From that moment on, Mel was a Christian. She became a chaplain, ending up in the Royal Australian Navy – her dream job. But all that changed when she experienced abuse, yet again, from a fellow officer.
Mel quickly spiralled, and, eventually, was made to take leave for 12 months as she wasn’t fit to perform duties. Mel was at rock bottom – can she rise from the ashes yet again?

Tue, 25 Oct 2022 - 38 - Mel Baker - Finding Hope Through Childhood Abuse (2/4)
Last week, we heard of Mel’s unimaginable abuse from her father, her sexual assault at multiple jobs, which led to her living on the streets at 16 years old – and multiple suicide attempts. After a few months, Mel knew she would die on the streets if she didn’t return home, so she barricaded herself in her room, and went through drug and alcohol withdrawal alone for two weeks. In that time, she was looking through one of her school books, and came across a Gideon bible. For the first time in her life, Mel knew that God was with her. And she began to believe.

Tue, 10 May 2022 - 26 - 3 Lessons I've Learnt from 2022 So Far
It’s barely 4 months into 2022 and we’ve lived through enough world events for a decade. In Sydney, we have had devastating floods along the east coast of our country – twice. We’re currently witnessing a war between Russia and Ukraine. Barely six months ago, Afghanistan fell to the Taliban, we're living through a pandemic and the cost of living has skyrocketed. Sometimes, the pain becomes unbearable.
So when you can’t remove yourself from the pain, you must find glimpses of hope in it. That’s what this podcast is all about. And truthfully, the guests that have graciously shared the most painful moments of their lives this year – have taught me more than I could’ve ever imagined.
So I want to share the Top 3 lessons I’ve learnt from the guests on this podcast so far in 2022.

Sun, 19 Sep 2021 - 7 - Corey Tutt – The Man Saving Lives with Science Books
Corey Tutt has always been a curious soul. A proud Kamilaroi man, he spent his childhood catching lizards and snakes, and reading books about reptiles. So when he found out that some schools in remote communities across Australia didn’t have science books at all – he packed up every book he owned, and sent them to schools that needed it. From there, Deadly Science was born – an initiative which has provided over 16000 science books to remote Indigenous communities.
Find out more about Deadly Science on Instagram and the website. Follow Corey Tutt on Instagram and Twitter.

Sun, 18 Jul 2021 - 1 - Finding Hope Trailer
My name's Georgia, I'm a radio broadcaster and producer, and my favourite part of my job is sharing people's stories. Each episode, you will meet someone who has been through hardship and loss but has found real hope along the way. Finding Hope is your antidote to the constant bombardment of sad news stories. Instead, these stories will help you see the good in humanity, the strong people doing that good and their determination to make the world a better place for everyone else around them.
