Australia's First Black-Led Millennial Leaders Podcast. Est 2017.
Dear fellow minority founder,
Welcome to PEERS - a podcast by BIPOC founders for BIPOC founders. Join me, Nigerian-Greek Australian and Forbes 30 Under 30 Lister, Michelle Akhidenor, for soul-enriching conversations with peers.
Each week, I sit down with a young award-winning BIPOC founder and deep dive into their entrepreneurial journey. I ask questions like: Where did you grow up? How has your cultural background helped or hindered you along the way? How have you learnt to navigate white spaces in business? What is it really like to be a Person of Color in business?
These conversations are honest, vulnerable and above all, human. My mission with this show is simple: to amplify the voices of minority founders worldwide, impacting 1 million BIPOC millennials by 2027.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
In Your Service,
Michelle

Sun, 12 Feb 2023 - 36min - 278 - #239. Lifelong Entrepreneur and Founder of Metaintro on Innovating in Web3
For Lacey Kaelani, a 9-5 work day was never the dream. And even when it was a reality, her parents were in her ear, giving her business ideas and telling her it was time to follow the dream of entrepreneurship that had permeated throughout her entire life. But for Lacey, the hardest choice wasn’t committing to a less traditional career, it was the transition from whiteboard to product, a process she laments is one of the most difficult parts of going out on your own.
In this episode of Peers2Peers, powered by Shopify, Web3 pioneer Lacey joins the podcast to discuss taking your internal monologue seriously, the logistics of selling one start-up and securing millions in funding for another, and the difficulties of hiring in the Web3 space.

Too often as entrepreneurs, we can attribute our success to luck. But as this episode’s guest reminds us, the road to building something that is ours is a road paved with hard work.
The hard work of finishing your university degree. The hard work of accruing the skills you’ll need in your professional journey. Maybe the hard work of climbing the corporate ladder, or making the money you’ll need to support yourself once you take the plunge.
The hard work of, in the case of Marial Lewis, moving from Cairo to Tasmania, then ascending from paralegal to partner in the legal world, before making the leap and starting her own firm, Crossover Law Group.

In a classic game of word association, perhaps some of the terms you most readily relate to being an entrepreneur are “adventure”, “risk” and “reward”. But some terms you maybe don’t consider are “validation” and “quantifiable research”.
While taking the plunge is an essential step in going out on your own, doing the work is just as essential. Knowing that your venture will succeed beyond your own premonition and dedication, that a market exists for your product or skills, and that people are willing to pay for them.
In this episode of Peers2Peers, powered by Shopify, Daryl Lim Co-Founder of Augmentus takes us through the journey from stable income (pre-venture), bootstrapper, all the way to raising his first round of funding.
