- 929 - Enhance Mental Clarity, Change the Energy of Your Home (Address Numerology) & More with Amanda Reiger Green
Changing up small habits in your day can create big changes in your life (this is the power of conscious neuroplasticity) & that's the first thing that Amy gets into with her guest (who is also her cousin) Amanda Reiger Green.
Then the second thing they get into is wild...Amanda explains 'Address Numerology' (a way to change the energy of your home through numbers. i.e. Amanda tells Amy what number to use to sell her house since she's about to put it on the market, and then what number to use to make her new house feel more organized!)
Speaking of organization...the third thing is about cleaning out closets (and making space in your mind) because Amanda was finally able to go through her mom's clothes (she passed away over a year ago) and donate them to the right person.
Fourth thing is CONNECTION (and the importance of it) so if you're in Austin...check out Amanda's Live 'Soul Sessions' Podcast Event (May 7th) for an evening of empowerment, connection, inspiration, and healing! Amanda will be doing live psychic readings, answering Q&A, and helping people gain clarity on their purpose and meaning.

Sat, 20 Apr 2024 - 925 - The Only Way Out Is Through with Gracie Moakler
Do you believe in signs from the other side? Amy does & her guest, Gracie Moakler, has a powerful story about a message she recently received from the other side. It's so clear that God was using this sign (from Gracie's sister) as a way to bring comfort and peace when it was very much needed. Amy also shares a message she got from her mom a few days ago (via a cardinal) that was very comforting as well. Side note: Go listen to Kacey Musgraves' song Cardinal ASAP if you haven't listened to it yet...it's so good!! If you don't believe in signs...well don't worry...they chat about other things too!
Gracie is the founder of Emergency Confetti, a mom of 2, and wife to her sweet husband Steve...she wears a lot of hats and at times she wonders what she's gotten herself into. Being a small business owner comes with challenges...but if you want the garden...you've got to pull the weeds (fave quote from the episode!) Gracie has had to learn to expand + to not make her business her identity (i.e. separating herself from hard situations like taking out a big loan to make aforementioned expansion possible) + to not compare herself to other moms/business owners on social media.
Gracie & Amy also talk about they're attempt at little to no clothes shopping this year + joy vs. happiness + 4 things gratitude (Gracie shares a book, a show, a drink and an IG follow that she's thankful for...so maybe there's a 'recommendation' in her gratitude that you'd enjoy!)

Tue, 16 Apr 2024 - 923 - "Does It Ever Get Easier?" - Part 2 (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: Leanne is back to continue the conversation from last week and dives deeper into the question of "Does it ever get easier?". She argues that restrictive diets and intense exercise plans create a cycle of difficulty and ultimately fail because they train your brain for "hard work" instead of training it for"ease."
This week Leanne literally shares a step-by-step checklist for how you can make sure your brain is focusing on creating "ease" by practicing behaviors that are enjoyable, sustainable, and create a sense of freedom. You can take this "checklist" of practices that cultivate ease (flexibility, consistency, happiness) contrasted with practices that reinforce difficulty (control, pain, guilt) to make sure that YOUR brain is set up for success.
By understanding these two categories (when your brain is practicing EASE vs. when your brain is practicing HARD), you can choose the path of least resistance which leads to lasting change and a more peaceful relationship with food and your body.

Tue, 09 Apr 2024 - 920 - "Does It Ever Get Easier?" - Part 1 (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: On this week's episode of Outweigh, Leanne tackles a question on every woman's mind stuck in the diet-and-weight-loss cycle: "Does it ever get easier?" Leanne challenges the idea of quick-fix diets and restrictive plans, arguing that they simply create more of the yo-yo effect that you're desperate to break free from AND leave you feeling like a prisoner in your own body.
Instead, she proposes a different approach: focusing on the "why" behind your struggles with food and body image. By becoming a master of your thoughts and habits, you can break free from the "diet mentality" and start creating sustainable change. The episode offers a seed of hope, suggesting that true ease comes from changing your thinking, not through sheer willpower and deprivation.

Most recently, a tornado touched down, changing her business as she knew it. Thu, 04 Apr 2024 - 918 - Why Amy's Losing Trust in Men, Kat's Money Saving Tip, Sad News About Dry Shampoo & More (5th Thing)
Today's quote:
“When you are not used to being confident, confidence will feel like arrogance. When you are used to being passive, assertiveness will feel like aggression. When you are not used to getting your needs met, prioritizing yourself will feel selfish. With that being said, your comfort zone is not always a good benchmark.” — Words from a psychotherapist (Shared on IG By: Mariana Self Love Coach)
Amy shares an email from Martha asking about the hair mask Ashley Wahler recommended when she was on the podcast: "I was driving during this episode and couldn’t take notes! What was the hair oil and hair mask she mentioned? Thank you!"
Here you go Martha: Ashley recommended the Kerastase Elixir Hair Oil and you can find it HERE. Amy also shares with Kat why Ashley is not a fan of dry shampoo. If you missed the episode with Ashely it's definitely worth listening to. Click HERE to listen!
Kat talks about practicing patience with her Anthropologie orders (she's obsessed with that store) and how she's able to save so much money with her "method" + her clothing subscription...which leads to Amy talk about updating her closet to her 'summer colors' and the patience required for that (the 'summer colors' is from another episode worth listening to about a color analysis Amy had done of her underlying skin tone. Click HERE to listen! Speaking of podcasts to listen to...Amy's been obsessed with the 'Something Was Wrong' podcast - she's already listened to 3 seasons and this lines up with an email we got from Tammy: "Amy, I was with someone who lied to me for 12 years. After he passed away I found terrible videos of his betrayal." Ugh, that's terrible. We feel for Tammy on this one.
Other things discussed:
- Parachute (a movie that's coming out this weekend about eating disorders)
- A Good Year (movie from 2006 starring Russell Crow that Amy just watched and loved)
- One Day (a show on Netflix...warning: you will cry!)
- Voicemail from Heather recommending we look into playing padel (apparently, it's the fastest growing sport in the world!)

Thu, 28 Mar 2024 - 915 - The Worst Self-Help Advice + Amy’s Mystery Rash + When Ignorance is a Blessing (5th Thing)
“What you don't know can be your greatest asset if you let it. If you are thinking, I have an idea, and I want to start, but I don't know how it's supposed to be done, that’s your gift. If you don’t know how it’s supposed to be done, that will ensure that you will do it differently. Real innovation only happens when you do it differently than everyone else has been doing it. Don't let it intimidate you because it’s really your greatest gift.” That is today’s quote from Sara Blakely (founder of Spanx) and Kat shares how ignorance has been great for her career path as well.
Amy & Kat also go over the “Worst Self-Help Advice You Can Receive” and share little thoughts after each thing on the list:
- Never give up

- Find your purpose
- No pain, no gain
- Good things come to those who wait
- Time heals all wounds

Thu, 21 Mar 2024 - 911 - 4 Gut Instincts You Should Not Ignore (5th Thing)
Kat asks Amy what she learned this last year of her life since she's now 43 years old (as of this week) and she also asks about a fun memory from the year (since it was a rough year around the sun with the divorce and all!) Have you ever rubbed your eyelids?? Because that's a thing you'll learn about in this episode...and it's something Amy enjoys very much!
Quote:
“Some people talk to you in ‘their free time’... and some people ‘free their time’ to talk to you. Make sure you know the difference.” -Someone’s Grandpa
They also talk about 4 gut instincts we should not ignore:
1) A Sense That You Are Not Well:
For example, Amy felt "off" so she got blood work and turns out she has very low testosterone (like very, very low!!) and that is causing her to feel very spacey. She's getting some cream to run on the back of her leg, so we shall see if that helps.
2) Excitement About An Opportunity:
Excitement is your intuition’s way of saying that something about that opportunity is resonating with your soul (so don't let your logical mind talk you out of something you feel is aligned for you!!)
3) A Feeling Of Danger:
When you feel an immense sense of nervousness, take it seriously (better to be safe than sorry!)
4) Being Drawn To Someone:
People are in our life for a reason, a season or a lifetime! (IYKYK: Amy is going to frame this for Kat's office because Kat doesn't think it's that deep, but Amy does haha)

Sat, 16 Mar 2024 - 909 - Ashley Wahler on The Hills, Addiction Recovery, & Shooting Her Shot with Keith Urban
Ashley Wahler, celebrity hair stylist and TV personality, and wife to Jason Wahler (known for his appearances on Laguna Beach and The Hills) joins Amy on today’s episode.
Ashley talks reality TV, her husband’s experiences with addiction, and learning how to be a partner to someone in recovery – including facing her own codependency issues and educating herself on alcoholism as a disease.
When you are in the depths of dealing with someone with addiction, it is a lonely place to be. Jason’s addictions led to them losing everything, and led Ashley to lose who she was – feeling depressed and soulless, and living with someone in the depths of their disease with no tools to fix it.
Ashley learned that struggling alone is not an option and that recovery is a disease that touches the whole family. She is now helping and supporting others with the Family Recovery Foundation who offer free zoom meetings with a licensed therapist to any family dealing with addiction.
PLUS – Ashley dishes on her hair stylist secrets: her favorite hair dryer, why you shouldn’t be using dry shampoo, how hot your hair tools should be, and how much hair shedding is normal!

Tue, 27 Feb 2024 - 901 - PART 2: Do You WANT to Stop Dieting, But You Have No Idea What That Even Looks Like (and the alternative terrifies you!)? Let's Talk About It! (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: Leanne is back for Part 2 of this series to help you understand how to get off the diet roller coaster for good.
So many women WANT to stop dieting, but they don't know how, or they don't know what that even looks like, because it's all they've ever known.
So this idea of "food freedom" or NOT being on some sort of diet is not only foreign to them, but it's actually pretty scary, because all their brain has known is what it's like to count, measure, restrict, and control.
Or their brain knows what it's like to bounce to the opposite end of the spectrum, and end up in an uncontrollable cycle of mindless eating, emotional eating, stress eating, or binging, and they just end up feeling super out-of-control.
This week Leanne is laying out the 5 step crystal-clear path way to finally STOP dieting without feeling like you're going off the deep end if you're NOT on something.HOST: @leanneellington

Sat, 24 Feb 2024 - 900 - Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone + Why You Should Never Kiss Your Dog + Gratitude + Mantras & Intentions for 2024 (the Year of Empowerment)
FIRST THING: Amy read something special her sister wrote called That Time We Tore Down the Fence. Loving your neighbors well, getting outside of your comfort zone, and answering dreams, but never forgetting what you have experienced and learned and loved on the way.
SECOND THING: Taft Hansen (a medical laboratory scientist/parasitologist) is a guest for this continued conversation about parasites. He sent Amy an email after hearing her episode with Katie Decker and he wanted to contribute. They talk about why you should never kiss your dog, cooking meat properly, parasites in the brain and more.
3RD THING: Taft's wife Morgan joins in for '4 Things Gratitude' and some good movie, tv and book recommendations come up during it!
4TH THING: Amy's cousin, Amanda Rieger Green is on talking about how 2024 is the year of empowerment. She released a Numerology Guide Bookthat’s special for this year (an 8 year, BTW) and people are loving it, so Amanda gave us the details & also shared with us some mantras and intentions that are good for us to use this year specifically!

OUTWEIGH: So many women WANT to stop dieting, but they don't know how, or they don't know what that even looks like, because it's all they've ever known.
But again, NOT being ON something scares them, because when they are not ON, they are totally OFF, and as you can imagine, it's one massive vicious cycle and downward spiral.
And because this topic truly is multi-faceted, Leanne broke it up into 2 parts. Part 1 is about the mindset and heartset and brainset shifts that need to happen to make the strategy-side-of-things Leanne will share in Part 2 even possible.
So enjoy this episode, and make sure to come back next week where Leanne is going to break it down into 5 crystal clear steps of what that actually looks like to heal from the diet mentality for good.HOST: @leanneellington

Sat, 17 Feb 2024 - 897 - Elevate Your Confidence, Style & Power with This Life-Changing Tip
Amy just discovered color matching & it's blown her mind. Her guest, Hannah Garber (a color analyst) breaks it all down for us. Amy met Hannah after she booked an appointment to find out her "season" (she learned she's a 'cool summer' palette, btw) and when Hannah told Amy her underlying skin tone was one that radiates in NAVY BLUE & NOT BLACK Amy was fascinated! She knew she wanted Hannah on the podcast ASAP. Why are we just now learning about this? In a nutshell, we all have certain colors that give us the power to show up with more confidence and look our best. Everything from the way we color our hair, to our makeup choices, the clothing we wear, nail color, jewelry etc..
Amy & Hannah talk about the colors/seasons (winter, summer, spring & autumn), confidence, capsule wardrobes (imagine if getting dressed was easy!!), the science behind it all, how Hollywood uses color matching for character building (shout out Anne Hathoway in Devil Wears Prada) & so much more (like memories of our moms with their signature lip colors & how switching your mascara color from black to brown is a game-changer or vice versa...it all depends on the "season" that you are!)

Thu, 15 Feb 2024 - 896 - How Gwyneth Paltrow Releases Anger & Do You Rank Your Friends? (5th Thing)
Today’s quote is from Ally Fallon: “You rarely know the whole story already – when things don’t make sense it’s usually because there’s missing data, untapped information. Maybe someone is keeping something from you, maybe you’re keeping something from yourself. Maybe certain things are none of your business - and maybe you need to wait a little longer to collect more puzzle pieces.”
What are the facts in the story you’ve built in your head? Practice patience – the other pieces of the puzzle are coming.

Tue, 13 Feb 2024 - 895 - Food Struggles Are My “Dirty Little Secret” (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: When it comes to the diet mentality, body shame, disordered eating, and all the internal stress and chaos that comes alongside all of that, for so many women this is their deepest held secret.
This struggle with food, their body, the war in their head, the fight in their hearts, and the shame. All that shame about their body, feeling so out of control all the time, feeling like a failure….for so many women, no one even knows what's really going on!
★ No one knows how much they are REALLY struggling and suffering.
★ No one knows how much time and energy they are spending thinking about what they should or shouldn’t eat, what they should wear — or what they can wear that fits or doesn’t look tight.
★ No one knows how much time they are thinking about how bad they actually feel.
★ No one knows that they aren’t even fully present in their lives— that even though they are there in the flesh and blood, they aren’t really ‘there’ -- they aren’t fully present.
What’s even worse is: no one is talking about this OR how to get past it.
In today’s episode of Outweigh Leanne takes a look at this overlooked subject, but also shares the “What I know now that I wish I knew then” steps to actually get PAST it.

Thu, 08 Feb 2024 - 893 - Friendship Breakups & Advocating for Your Health (5th Thing)
Today’s quote: “The view is always better from the high road – and there’s less traffic!”
Amy & Kat answer two questions from a listener email:
How should we feel if a friendship ends?
A lot of people don’t talk about ending friendships, but it can feel like more of a loss than someone we’ve been dating (even if you knew it was the right decision for yourself)!
It’s a VERY normal experience for a friendship to end (and it can really suck). Kat reminds us that grieving is not about getting over something – it’s about learning live with the loss.
How can get your doctor to take your symptoms seriously?
Amy is in perimenopause and is getting her hormones tested to try to figure out the right way to treat her symptoms. There’s a lot of shame around menopause especially if you’re doctor isn’t taking your symptoms seriously or is disregarding your concerns.
Reminder! You are allowed to have information & ask questions about your own health!! Don’t feel bad advocating for yourself and if you need to, find a new doctor who will listen to you!
PLUS – beauty mishaps: Veet for eyebrows and Preparation H for undereye?!

Thu, 25 Jan 2024 - 886 - Things You Should Never Say To Your Partner (5th Thing)
Today’s quote is from Brené Brown: “choose discomfort over resentment.”
Amy and Kat discuss Brené’s habit of using a “boundary ring” where she spins her ring around three times before she makes a decision as a way to keep her from saying yes when she really means no.
It’s 25 days until Kat’s wedding and she’s chasing down 100 RSVPs because of this very “forward” thing she did with her invites.
Amy shares a list of things you should never say to your partner:
Don’t use “never” and “always” Instead of “yes, but” use “yes, and” Don’t compare: “you should be more like _____” Avoid dismissals like “you’re overreacting”, “calm down”, and “this is not that big of a deal”One of Amy’s goals this year is trying to be a better adult and Kat talks about the process of growing up and “getting” old” in her latest episode of You Need Therapy.

Amy was given a book about self-forgetfulness from her friend, Jeremiah Carter, so he is on with her to talk about the meaning of it. Whether we admit it or not, we all care to varying degrees what people think of us. The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness (by Timothy Keller) is a little gem of a book that will have you considering how busy most of us are measuring up all of our words, actions, and responses to both the standards of those around us and our own standards. Throughout the episode, Leanne explores the diverse paths to faith, drawing from her experiences working with clients from various backgrounds who grapple with their relationship with their own connection with God and spirituality. She reflects on the power of words and the significance of inner experiences over specific faith-based terminology. Leanne's connection to her Jewish heritage and love for Israel sets the stage for a twist of fate that propels her toward faith, highlighting the transformative power of surrender and the impact of worship music.
The episode truly comes to a head when Leanne shares a pivotal moment on a paddleboard, where a song's lyrics lead her to straight to her knees, praying for help and discovering a deeper sense of the concept of "surrender" she had been searching for. This experience prompted her to make a brave and profound transition from the fitness industry to a faith-based approach to emotional transformation, ultimately trusting in God's guidance (even if she wasn't calling that presence 'God' at the time).
Leanne shows us the importance of stepping into the unknown, embracing uncertainty, and finding trust in God, even when the concept is new. As she explores Christianity and attends Crosspoint Church in Nashville, her open-hearted approach to worship music and teachings shows us that there is this universal search for connection and completeness.HOST: @LeanneEllington

Tue, 12 Sep 2023 - 879 - A Scientist Goes Looking For God
In the debut episode of the "What's God Got To Do With It" podcast, host Leanne Ellington takes listeners on a deeply personal journey of self-discovery and transformation. Leanne begins by sharing her background as a bacon-loving Jew with a Jewish heritage, where Judaism was more of a cultural 'thing' in her life, but NOT a connection to God.
She candidly discusses her lifelong struggles with food, body image, and toxic shame, tracing her introduction to weight watchers at just 8 years old and her ongoing battle with depression and anxiety. Despite losing nearly 100 pounds, Leanne reveals how she still felt trapped by the cycle of dieting and exercise.
This paved the way for Leanne's awakening to the need for deeper change, as she shares her realization that she couldn't diet or exercise her way out of her self-image issues and her newfound commitment to breaking free from the shackles of restriction and obsession. And that's when Leanne's life took an unexpected turn and introduced her pursuit of faith (despite not having a previous connection to God in her life). She delves into the concept of neuroplasticity and how it influenced her journey, acknowledging her initial skepticism about faith and spirituality.
She continues to share how her search for "surrender," led to her discovering God in the most unexpected places, and as the stage for her podcast's purpose, she invites listeners to explore faith, skepticism, and doubt in a safe space while contemplating the intriguing intersection of faith and science, inviting you on an enlightening and introspective journey into the intricate relationship between faith, identity, and self-discovery.

Tue, 21 Nov 2023 - 876 - Unraveling Worthiness: Breaking Down the 5 'Blocks' to God's Love
Leanne is kicking off a new series based on her own experiences navigating "The Paradox of Worthiness" (as she calls it). As in, how do you feel worthy when you don't feel worthy?
There is so much talk nowadays about self-love and worthiness, but the crucial question remains: How do we truly embrace it if all we’ve ever known is the opposite? How do you suddenly feel worthy if all you’ve ever known is feeling unworthy?
In this kickoff to the series, Leanne introduces you to (what she calls) "The 5 Blocks To Love", and how she discovered that when it came to actually FEELING worthy of being loved, that was a really hard concept for her to grasp at first. It felt like something was actually blocking her.
And that's when she discovered that there were "5 Blocks" that were hindering her ability to RECEIVE what was already there, and that this was what was actually causing her resistance. She also discovered that removing those blocks catapulted her ability to connect to herself, others, and God.You're going to get an in-depth look at each of these blocks in this upcoming series, but first she dives into the fusion of faith, neuroscience, and self-image as a pathway to feeling worthy and putting yourself in the optimal position to remove your own blocks.

Tue, 14 Nov 2023 - 875 - Jesus Take The Wheel: From Self-Reliance to God's Guidance
Rewind about 4 years ago to when my dear friend Ketric Newell told me something I DID NOT want to hear...
"Leanne your Self-Imaging curriculum is GREAT, but I don't want you to teach it to the teenage girls at The Teen Dream Center....YET."
Ugggh! The nerve of him to tell me it wasn't ready -- or that I wasn't ready! (Or whatever I perceived him to be saying to me.)
But now I can see that he had a VERY good reason to say that to me, and it was this:
I was still teaching "self-love" and "self-worth" as something that you do (strictly) through your OWN strength.
In other words, it was this hyper-independent reliance on SELF to do all the heavy-lifting.
And yes I was a little bit "butt hurt" (as the kids say nowadays) when I first heard him say that, but that's only because I didn't yet GET IT!
That is...until I DID get it.
Because in a world that often encourages self-sufficiency, this concept of letting go and allowing God to take the lead can feel a little daunting (or if you're anything like me....totally FOREIGN!)
But what if you could see it in a whole new light?
If you think that asking for help is WEAKNESS (as I raise my hands in admission)
If you struggle with this idea of surrendering your burdens over to God or a higher power (boy did I ever!)
If you constantly feel like you have to prove how strong, able, tough, or [fill-in-the-blank] you are (SEE ALSO: my entire life before I let God in)...
Then you will LOVE this intimate sit-down with a man I describe as a humble, poetic, prophetic named Ketric.
It's an invitation to simply try on a new definition of "surrender" and the profound impacts that can happen when you shift from self-reliance to God's guidance.

Tue, 17 Oct 2023 - 871 - The Faith-Brain Connection: Where Self Image Meets Neuroscience
Today is World Mental Health Day, and that’s why it's the perfect time to talk about the faith-brain connection, and how it has EVERYTHING to do with your own mental and emotional health.
In this next episode of The God Pod, Leanne takes you on a journey to explore the profound interplay between faith, self-image, and neuroscience. Leanne breaks down (in simple science terms) how just influencing ONE specific part of the brain (the Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC), or the "social brain" as she calls it) can change the game for you -- simply by knowing about it -- as just this ONE part of the brain influences everything from self-perception and emotional pain to coping mechanisms and physical pain.
Inviting God into the conversation right away, she shares how this region of the brain drives our need for acceptance and connection while also playing a big role in your coping mechanisms or habits which you feel are "out of control".
And it's not just theory either, as she shares evidence-based scientific studies that show how faith has been proven to drastically impact everything from self-esteem and addiction recovery...to the alleviation of physical pain, and how THIS can hold the keys to your own mental and emotional health.
Ultimately, she's simply inviting you to 'try on' this idea that faith can be a catalyst for healing, strength, and transformation in the realm of mental and emotional well-being.

Do you have beliefs that are holding you back that (no matter what you try), they continue to have a stronghold on you?
In this week's episode of the God Pod, Leanne Ellington shares her personal journey of transforming beliefs through the unique intersection of where "faith meets science"...and where "science meets faith", as we start to unravel how faith and science intersect in transforming your deepest-held beliefs about yourself.

Tue, 19 Sep 2023 - 867 - Trading Up: Exchanging External Judgments For Your God-Given Value
Leanne is back as we conclude our deep dive into the Paradox of Worthiness. In this final episode of the series, she unravels the concept of "Self-Endorsement" and explores this idea that it's possible for you to value your own opinion of yourself and God’s opinion of you more so (even just a little bit more so) than someone else’s opinion of you. And how THAT can liberate you from the constant need for external validation.
Self-Endorsement is truly about standing confidently in who you are, but more so who God says you are, and seeking approval from God, rather than relying solely on others' opinions. Leanne encourages you to break free from society's definition of approval and external validation, renew your mind, and invite God into the process through prayer.
As she wraps up this series, the invitation is clear: explore a new perspective, be patient with yourself, and trust the unfolding journey of self-discovery as you identify what you need for your head, heart, and spirit.

Tue, 19 Dec 2023 - 866 - Earning Back Your Own Trust With God As Your Co-Pilot
Leanne is back to continue exploring this complex topic of worthiness, diving into the paradox of feeling worthy when you DON'T feel worthy. Once again Leanne talks about the 5 Blocks to God’s love, originally introduced as a 'Self-Imaging' formula, and how these blocks, if not addressed, can hinder your experience of love and worthiness.
This episode focuses on the fourth ingredient and God block: Self-Esteem, where she teaches about understanding Self-Esteem as more than just confidence, but a profound interplay of "knowing, liking, and trusting" yourself.
She explores this concept that most people are walking around very untrusting of themselves, because somewhere along the lines they stopped believing themselves when they made promises to themselves. And this causes them to not only STOP trusting themselves, but to also LOSE respect for themselves, believing themselves less and less the NEXT time they commit to something. And THAT is what damages your Self-Esteem.
She takes you on a deep-dive of how to repair your integrity if you've gotten into the habit of making promises to yourself without actual follow-through. She also shows you how to invite God into this conversation to explore the power of promise-keeping when it comes to restoring your Self-Esteem.
Leanne encourages and invites you to create a new definition of Self-Esteem, only this time around taking your "spiritual integrity" into account and seeking God's perspective on getting back in alignment with yourself WHILE you embrace the concept of taking radical ownership of your own Self-Image...and the spiritual journey towards God-inspired integrity.HOST: @LeanneEllington

This time however, the spotlight turns to the third ingredient and God Block: Self-Worth, as Leanne emphasizes the importance of understanding what you're "weighing and measuring" to define your own worth. She shares personal experiences of tying self-worth SOLELY to external factors like appearance, relationships, and achievement, and how goal-setting can be great, but if that's the ONLY place you are finding your worth, that's where the trouble lies.
Leanne encourages and invites you to create a new definition of self-worth, only this time around taking a "spiritual currency" into account and seeking God's perspective on your divine worth, teaching you how to embrace the concept of taking radical ownership of your own Self-Image... while inviting God into the process as your co-pilot and divine partner.

This time however, the spotlight turns to the second ingredient and God Block: Self-Care, as Leanne challenges 'conventional' views of health by emphasizing a 3-dimensional approach—mental, emotional, and spiritual care—as the foundation for physical well-being. She encourages you to redefine health and self-care, while inviting God into the journey and addressing the cultural misconceptions that often lead to harmful practices, and she paints a picture of shifting from the world's take on health...to a more all-encompassing, God-centered one.

Tue, 09 Jan 2024 - 859 - Redefine to Align Part 4: How To Redefine 'Results' (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: In this 4th and final episode of the "Redefine to Align" Series, Amy and Leanne talk about the dynamics of redefining results, and they explore the nuanced relationship between time, intensity, and sustainable change.
In this episode, they shine a light on the common pitfall of succumbing to the "Short-Term Gratification Trap", where the allure of immediate pleasure often overshadows long-term well-being...AND your long-term happiness.
They dissect the unconscious choices that lead to a pattern of trading short-term happiness for longer-term discontent, examining the underlying mental and emotional things that are also at play.
By unraveling the interplay of time and intensity, Amy and Leanne simply want to empower you to grasp a new understanding of results—-- one that prioritizes sustainable growth over short-term goals that "suck you in", so that you can break free from the Short-Term Gratification Trap and redefine the very essence of results in your own life.

Thu, 04 Jan 2024 - 856 - The Faith-Brain Connection: Where Self Image Meets Neuroscience (from “What’s God Got To Do With It?” with Leanne Ellington)
While Amy’s on break, enjoy this episode from “What’s God Got To Do With It?” with Leanne Ellington - part of the Amy Brown Podcast Network!
In this episode, Leanne takes you on a journey to explore the profound interplay between faith, self-image, and neuroscience.

Tue, 02 Jan 2024 - 855 - Acting As If (FEELING) When Your Thoughts Don’t Match How You Feel (2 of 4)
PART 2 of 4: Ever wonder why your thoughts and feelings don't sync up? Amy & Leanne share a fresh-yet-totally-doable approach that will help you reclaim the reins of confusing thoughts in our head…so that stepping into WHO YOU WANT TO BE actually becomes possible!
In PART 2 you learn:
👉Why it's not your CIRCUMSTANCES that dictate your reality, it's your THOUGHTS, and how every single thought CAUSES a feeling-- not the other way around.
👉Why your Self Image knows how you really feel, so before you can "act as if" or "believe a new reality", it's got to FEEL good, FEEL true, and resonate.
👉How to truly flip "negative emotions" on their head and find the gold in what it's trying to teach you.

Tue, 02 Jan 2024 - 854 - Redefine to Align Part 3: How To Redefine 'Stress' (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: In the 3rd episode of the "Redefine to Align" Series, Amy and Leanne are back to redefine typical definitions of "stress" and the notion that stress is this inevitable and uncontrollable force in our lives.
While stressful circumstances arising is indeed inevitable, Amy and Leanne invite you to break free from the misconception that stress must be a constant companion or a dominant force in your life.
By examining the ways in which our nervous systems become accustomed to heightened states, they explore redefining stress (and how you react to it) so that you can recognize that stress doesn't define you; rather, it's a learned response that can be unlearned. It's about cultivating a new relationship with stress and gathering the tools to help you break free from its grip and reclaim control over your well-being. Only then can you start aligning with the version of yourself that you truly want to be.

Thu, 28 Dec 2023 - 851 - Unraveling Worthiness (from “What’s God Got To Do With It?” with Leanne Ellington)
While Amy’s on break, enjoy this episode from “What’s God Got To Do With It?” with Leanne Ellington - part of the Amy Brown Podcast Network!

Tue, 26 Dec 2023 - 850 - Acting As If (THINKING) When Downward Spiral Thoughts Rule Your Life (1 of 4)
PART 1 of 4: Are you feeling stuck or battling self-doubt? Do you want to take ownership of your life by taking ownership of your thoughts? If yes and yes, then "Acting As If" is for you! Amy Brown & Self-Image Scientist Leanne Ellington designed this 4-part series to help you shift your thoughts, so that “Acting As If” becomes possible for your brain to adopt. In each episode, you get effective strategies to break free from the grip of negativity & gain insights on nurturing an "emotionally healthy" brain.
In PART 1 you learn:
👉Why "Acting As If" is not a matter of positive affirmations or fake-it-til-you-make it.
👉Rewiring your brain for peace in the chaos
👉Distinguishing the data vs the drama of your situation
👉How to give yourself your own "reality check" to stop the downward spiral of thoughts in your brain.
We can all struggle with downward spiraling thoughts:
"Why did I eat that?"
"Why didn't he call me?"
"Why can't I stop that?"
"Does that make me a bad mom?"
"Why should I bother? Is this just how it will always be?"
Things like "fake it ‘til you make it" + turning everything “into a positive" will NOT outsmart your brain...and there’s a reason why.

Tue, 26 Dec 2023 - 849 - Redefine to Align Part 2: How To Redefine 'Boundaries' (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: Amy and Leanne are back for PART 2 of the "Redefine to Align" Series, where they explore the complex topic of boundaries— which is an integral part of self-discovery, but also an often-misunderstood part.
While society often portrays boundaries as external limitations imposed on US, Amy and Leanne want to challenge that narrative and unravel the misconception that boundaries are merely external barricades, emphasizing that true boundary-setting originates from within.
They explore the concept that what may appear as a boundary problem is often rooted as an integrity problem, and they guide you to reevaluate your relationship with your own personal limits. This episode was designed to empower you to redefine boundaries not as restrictive walls, but as liberating expressions of self-respect and authenticity so you can align with the version of yourself that you TRULY want to be.

Tue, 19 Dec 2023 - 846 - Redefine to Align Part 1: How To Redefine 'Success' (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: Welcome to the "The Redefine to Align" Series, a new 4 part series here on Outweigh where we are going to dive headfirst into the transformative journey of redefining typical words or paradigms in our lives that might NOT be aligning us in the direction we WANT to go.
Amy and Leanne are here to help you navigate the challenging landscape of the holiday season, where societal pressures and external expectations often dictate your sense of accomplishment, and this first episode was designed to be a source of hope and inspiration to redefine YOUR own definitions of success.
Their goal is simply to challenge the conventional notions tied to success, unraveling the 'typical' narratives that are tied to success -- things like weight loss, food choices, and exercise metrics -- that often overshadow the intrinsic value within each of us, and take us OUT of alignment.
By examining these subtle yet profound shifts in your mindset, what would happen if you detached from external validations and began cultivating a more authentic definition of success —-- one that resonates from YOU and where you are in your journey? THAT is the journey they are inviting you into.

Thu, 07 Dec 2023 - 840 - Why Relationships Are Never 50/50, the App We All Need, Christmas Traditions & More (5th Thing)
Is it annoying when someone says they're giving 110%? Kat can't stand when people say that, but it doesn't bother Amy. They agree to disagree on this topic, but they both agree that Brene Brown gets it right when she says that in a relationship, it’s never 50/50. Percentage talk came up because of today's quote: “On the days you have only 40%, and you give 40%. You gave 100%.” – Jim Kwik
Back to Brene Brown and relationships...some days one partner may only have 20%, and the other might pick up the slack. Or maybe you and your partner have a combined 40%- and if so, that’s ok! Amy and Kat remind us that we can line up activities that meet you where you are that week. You gave 100%.” – Jim Kwik yourselves! Amy also shares a listener tip for a useful app she found called ‘Just Watch’. It’s a helpful resource to find where your favorite tv shows are playing, so you can find which streaming app you need! Kat and Amy discuss sharing passwords with significant others, and their favorite traditions around the holidays! What foods they like to make and what Christmas movies they like to watch! Thu, 30 Nov 2023 - 836 - Loving For No Reason, Where Jay Shetty Got It Wrong, Amy's Weird Rash & More (5th Thing)
Is watching TV together the lowest form of intimacy? Amy & Kat break down a comment made by Jay Shetty about TV being the lowest form of intimacy for couples. Kat reminds us that this blanket statement has the potential to make people feel shame or question what is working for them in their relationship. Depending on what you both enjoy, tv watching might be a great way for you to connect with your significant other! When an expert shares something like this, approach it like an idea, not a fact. Kat shares that she loves watching shows and also listening to audiobooks with her fiancé while they are on a walk together. They might not be talking in those moments, but they are still enjoying something together and it leads to conversations afterwards. Amy and Kat also chat about some recent health scares they’ve both had, including Amy’s rash on her temples, and Kat’s confession of having 11 cavities after not going to the dentist for 5 years! PSA: Flossing is important! Don’t skip it!
Today’s Quote is from a sign in someone’s front yard: “I love you. You are probably thinking you don’t even know me, but if people can hate for no reason, I can love for no reason.” Kat is considering putting a little sign outside of her therapy practice. Amy suggested putting up a therapy joke: "Why did Waldo go to therapy? To find himself!"

OUTWEIGH: In Part 2 of this series, Leanne is back to discuss the often-misunderstood topic of body fat and its relationship with fascia. She emphasizes the importance of understanding and appreciating fat, as it plays a crucial role in the body's functions and should not be stigmatized.
She also delves into the science behind fat and fascia, breaking it down very simply, but also highlighting how they are not just passive tissues but play active roles in metabolism, hormonal regulation, and more. She also walks you through how fascia, a connective tissue, can interact with fat, affecting issues such as fat storage and fat loss.
Leanne's goal is to empower you to take care of your body (and this includes your fat and fascia), and to help you unravel the mysteries of body fat and fascia to help you improve your overall well-being and relationship with your body.

Thu, 23 Nov 2023 - 833 - Finding Interdependence In Your Relationship, The 7 Primal Questions, Making Dreams Coming True (5th Thing)
Today’s quote is from NEEDTOBREATHE’s song “Dreams”:
That's why I throw my bones in the rhythm
Sink my teeth in a good time
Whole lot more than a feeling
I could lose
That's I why I brace myself every minute
Trying to hold on tight for a good ride
Fools like us are only here to prove
You make dreams come true
Amy asks the question: when it comes to accomplishing the dreams in your life, where there has been struggle, but you’ve preserved - what comes to mind for you?
As a follow up to Amy’s conversation with her friend, Jeremiah, last week, Kat gives her thoughts on the 7 Primal Questions:
Am I safe? Am I secure? Am I loved? Am I wanted? Am I successful? Am I good enough? Do I have purpose?Kat’s fiance did something to make her feel insecure when talking in his sleep which leads to a conversation about premarital couples counseling, keeping separate bank accounts, and interdependence (the healthy space between fully independent & co-dependent).

Tue, 21 Nov 2023 - 832 - The Truth About Your Fat - Part 1 (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: Nowadays fat has a bad rap. We hate it. We fear it. We name it. We blame it. We shame it. Some people will do whatever they can to destroy it and eliminate its "wrath" from their lives. But who ever said that fat was ugly, or something to be ashamed of? And what if you could work WITH it (learn how to actually take care of it on a nervous system level so you can actually get rid of it if that's what you want to do) instead of working AGAINST it? Since it IS such a prevalent "enemy" in today's world, and since it's not going away anytime soon, we might as well learn about it, right?
Unfortunately no one is talking about that side of it. What you eat and how you move is PART of the equation, but it doesn’t cover the whole picture. Not even close! And I truly believe (and science will back me up!) that your health, body, and emotional struggles are simply EFFECTS of something going on ‘higher up’ in your brain and nervous system (SEE ALSO: That system of systems that dictates EVERYTHING!). And in this 4 part series, we are going to talk about a subject matter that baffles most women and causes more shame and sadness than any topic I’ve encountered: The Truth About YOUR FAT (and what you can actually do about it)

Tue, 14 Nov 2023 - 828 - Do You Know Your True Value and Worth? (Part 5) (Outweigh)
OUTWEIGH: Amy and Leanne are back for PART 5 of the 5-part Self-Image series called "Do You Know Your True Value and Worth?", where they take a deep dive into the concept of "Self Endorsement".
It's not practical or even possible for anyone (specially women) to completely disregard what others think about them. However, what is possible is learning to value your own opinion of yourself (even just a little bit) more than someone else's opinion of you.
Imagine a world where you might LIKE that validation, but you don't NEED external endorsement to determine your own self-worth, beauty, or desirability. That is the conversation that Amy and Leanne invite you into in this episode, helping you to ultimately reshape your own self-image in a more empowering way.
