Every Lord's Day is a day of corporate worship. We worship the Lord together because it is the right thing to do.   This morning, however, was extra special for us because we had prepared a missional-themed worship service. We considered Psalm 96:6-9. This Psalm teaches that God calls His chosen people, and even people from various tribes, tongues, and nations who do not know Him, to come to know Him and His living Word.   "Splendour and majesty are before him;    strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;    bring an offering, and come into his courts! Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the Lord with all your heart,    and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him,    and he will make straight your paths.

Friendship is one of the most common and wonderful relationships we experience. What does the Bible teach about friendship, and how can we choose and be a better friend? We have a lovely example of friendship in Jonathan and David before us. 1 Samuel 18:1-5 - "As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day and would not let him return to his father's house. Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, and his armour, and even his sword and his bow and his belt. And David went out and was successful wherever Saul sent him, so that Saul set him over the men of war. And this was good in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants." (ESV) A note and a point of prayer: It was a five-point sermon, and during the 4th point a visitor walked in who sadly happened to be an addict; hence, I was led to call her to have Jesus as a friend who is better than worldly friends. And at the end of this point, she left the chapel. So, if you hear any abrupt change in delivery, now you know why! Please pray for her salvation.

" Peace & Joy In Every Circumstance" Series: Spiritual Depression - Our Fight For Joy Philippians 4:4-9 The peace of God is brought to us by the God of peace that surpasses all understanding. Jesus is the prince of peace. This peace helps us to rejoice in God, which is essential for our daily living and witness in this fallen world. We pray that we rejoice in the Lord always.

"Taking Every Thought Captive" Series: Spiritual Depression - Our Fight For Joy 2 Corinthians 10:5-6 - "We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete." A spiritual antidote for our fear, sinful behaviours and anxiety. Fear, anxiety and strongholds are real. How can we destroy negetive and sinful thinking and strongholds in order to walk in peace and joy in the Lord.

"Freed From Bondage" Spiritual Depression: Our Fight For Joy   Romans 8:14-15 - "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”   Can we live a perfect life on this earth? Should we expect perfection from other people? Can we fall in sin? and if so, what must we do? How shall we avoid the issues of legalism and loose behaviours in our church life?  Do we enjoy the liberty that we have in Christ?

"Misery to Mercy" Series: Spiritual Depression - Our Fight For Joy     Mark 5:1-20 The light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it. The Lord Jesus sets the prisoners free. What a great joy!

Dealing with distress.   'A Guest Sermon' by Brother Muralee who is serves as a pastor and elder in his church and is involved in the church planing ministry. He has been in the Gospel for over 35 years. He is our dear brother and friend in the Lord. We were glad that he was able to visit us briefly while he travels abroad.  The sermon is based on 1 Samuel 30:1-21 with an emphasis on verse number 6. 1 Samuel 30:6 - "And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. When we follow the Lord, we face the ideology, lies, and mockery of the world. There comes a new friction that we might not have anticipated in our lives. Following Jesus comes with a great cost. Sometimes, though, we may even wonder whether it is all worth it? Sometimes, we feel the pressure from the world to go back to it. What should we do in light of these questions? Do we follow the world or do we persevere in our walk with the Lord?

“A crisis of faith.”   Series: Spiritual Depression - Our Fight For Joy   Mark 4:35-41 Why did the disciple become fearful? Where was there faith when the big waves crashing into the boat? Why did Jesus rebuke them by saying that they lacked faith? Let’s find out.  We too may lack faith at times. But the Lord Jesus tells us to be faithful in spite of challenging circumstances.

But this frustration can be seen among professing Christians in local churches today.

Part 1 - Spiritual Depression - Our Fight for Joy - "Spiritual Depression" For the next few weeks we are going to be exploring the theme of Joy on Sunday mornings at Grace Church Southall (www.gcsouthall.org.uk) I have been reading the book "Spiritual Depression" written by late Dr Martin Llyod Jones to understand the cause of spiritual joylessness and how to rediscover the joy of the Christian life.  I have prayerfully selected a few chapters to tackle the issue at hand. Because I have found (even in my own life) at times a lack of joy among christians.  What are the cause and cures of our lack of joy? We explore Psalm 42 and 43 today. Psalm 42:11 - "Why are you cast down, O my soul,    and why are you in turmoil within me?Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,    my salvation and my God."

A short devotion that I led at church from John 3:1-15 as we tend to get unbelievers attending our fellowship time to time.  We preach about the new birth because Jesus tells us to do so. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16 (ESV)

Romans 15:14-33 Part 1

Can anything good come out of our suffering?   We are told in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 that if we suffer it is not only for our pruning but also to the benefit of others as they see us suffer faithfully, not only they are encouraged by our testimony but also to grow in their faith in the Lord.   There are so many so called “faith-healers” in churches today. They don’t have any power to heal anyone, but these preachers certainly have the power to lead people in error.   However, we do thank the Lord for His faithful people who are able to be the light and the salt of this earth as the Lord tells us in Matthew 5:16. Every Christian can be an encouragement to others.   Here is an example of one faithful Christian who despite her suffering was able to share the message of salvation with her ‘neighbour’ whilst being admitted in the hospital. How can we encourage those who may be going through suffering? The New Testament letters are full of the ‘One-Another’ statements. We are called to encourage one another for the sake of our Lord and Saviour – Jesus Christ. The Lord cares for His people, and one of the main ways of Him encouraging us is through His body on earth – the Church. The Apostle Paul encourages the Ephesians (Ephesians 5:19-20) to encourage each other with prayers, singing of Psalms and Hymns. He tells the Galatians (Galatians 6:2) to bear each other burdens and he encourages the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 4:17-18) and Thessalonians (1 Thessalonians 5:11) by pointing them to the eternal Christ. What does it mean to 'focus' on God during suffering? King David is one of the most prominent human characters in the Old Testament. We are familiar with his trials that are mentioned in the Bible. We are also familiar with Psalms of David. I am yet to meet a Christian that has never found Psalms to act like a soothing balm to their spiritual wounds. Kind David was a man in great distress in 1 Samuel 27. He was running to save his life from King Saul and in doing so he falls into the enemy's territory.  How did David cope? And what lessons can we learn from the life of David in trusting the Lord and focusing on His goodness? Pastor Olawale Akinrogunde of Grace Church Walthamstow, London explains.

Why do 'good' people suffer? First of all, we need to realise that none of us are good (Mark 10:18), only God is good and this where we start to understand why we suffer in this fallen world. There was only ONE good man who ever lived on the face of this earth and His Name is Jesus Christ. He did not deserve to suffer but He suffered on our behalf so that we may become righteous in God's eyes.  We were created to know and glorify the Son of God. Does 'coming to Jesus' mean my problems will dissapear? We know this famous hymn that goes like this... "When peace like a river attendeth my way,when sorrows like sea billows roll;whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,"It is well, it is well with my soul." What do these opening lines mean? He leads people to Christ who was sent by His Father in heaven.

Words and Attitudes.ਸਾਡੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਤੇ ਰਵੱਈਏ. ਕੀ ਉਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਮਾੜੇ? ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਕੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ? ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਲਿਆਉਣਾ ਹੈ?Our words and attitudes. Are they good or bad? What should be our aim in life? To build each other up or to bring each other down?

ਰਸੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਤੱਬ 16:11-15, 16:25-34   Acts 16:11-15, 16:25-34   How does God's salvation manifest in the life of people?  Here are two examples of God's grace working in the life of Lydia, a woman in Philippi whose heart the Lord opened and the Philippian jailor who cried out 'what must I do to be saved" 1. Lydia's conversion teaches us about God's sovereignty over our salvation. 2. The Philippian Jailor's conversion teaches us about the responsibility of man in repentance and faith upon hearing and seeing the power of God.

Two Things To Considers   It is imperative that we guard our beliefs and keep our behaviours in check in order to avoid the following issues that we face in our Christian life.   v.27 - Give no opportunity to the devil.   v.30 - And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
