- 20 - Why Do the British Keep Getting Away With Murder? | Can a Country Own the Whodunit? | DMPS Ep. 20
Why do British murder mysteries feel so consistently satisfying?
From Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie to country-house murders, village secrets, locked rooms and perfectly placed red herrings, Britain seems to have mastered the art of the whodunit.
But is that simply tradition and practice — or can a country almost “own” a genre?
In DMPS Episode 20, Rahul & Tanya debate whether Britain’s dominance of the classic murder mystery comes from:
more than a century of crime-writing tradition the fair-play contract between writer and viewer closed-circle settings where everyone has a secret class, politeness and social restraint becoming clues and a television industry that knows how to turn intricate mysteries into compulsive viewingAt the same time, mystery is hardly British property. Clever crime storytelling exists across the world — from France and America to Japan, Scandinavia and India.
So perhaps Britain does not own the whodunit.
It has simply built one of the strongest and most continuous ecosystems around it.
⭐ DMPS Rating: 9/10
An intelligent, layered and deeply satisfying modern mystery — with a murder investigation inside another murder mystery.
It respects the Agatha Christie-style puzzle while doing something formally inventive, with Susan Ryeland’s contemporary investigation intersecting with the fictional world of detective Atticus Pünd.
For anyone who loves clues, suspects, manuscripts, hidden motives and stories within stories, this is a definite watch.
Also in the episode: Lupin Part 4, Sumo Didi, The Legend of Hanuman Season 7, Marble Hall Murders and the latest James Bond casting buzz.

Fri, 23 Oct 2026 - 07min - 19 - Why Must Powerful Women Become Monsters? | Daayan, Naagin, Chudail — Empowerment or Stereotype? | DMPS Ep. 19
Indian entertainment has always been fascinated by supernatural women — daayans, naagins, chudails, shape-shifters and mysterious brides.
But are these characters genuinely powerful… or are they simply another way of portraying women as dangerous, irrational or frightening?
In DMPS Episode 19, Rahul & Tanya debate why one successful supernatural formula often leads to a flood of similar stories. One television actress becomes a Naagin, and suddenly everyone wants to be one. One horror-comedy succeeds, and the industry begins looking for its next female monster.
At the same time, folklore and horror can also give women something mainstream stories often deny them: agency, anger, power and control over the narrative.
So where does empowerment end and repetition begin?
Is the problem that women are being portrayed as monsters — or that the industry keeps reducing different women to the same marketable supernatural stereotype?
The film centres on a newly married woman who is suspected of being a daayan.
Our reaction is cautious: do we really need one more story built around a woman being labelled supernatural and dangerous? Or could the film actually challenge how quickly an unconventional daughter-in-law is judged and demonised?
No numerical rating yet.
Not a priority watch — but worth observing to see whether it questions the trope or merely repackages it.

Wed, 21 Oct 2026 - 09min - 18 - Is the Celebrity Interview Dead? | When Every Answer Feels Media-Trained | DMPS Ep. 18
Celebrity interviews were once unpredictable, revealing and occasionally uncomfortable.
Today, every answer often feels carefully rehearsed — designed to avoid controversy, protect relationships and ensure that nobody is offended.
So has the celebrity interview become just another PR exercise?
In DMPS Episode 18, Rahul & Tanya debate whether stars have become too media-trained for interviews to remain interesting — or whether constant trolling, viral clips, boycott calls and reputational risks have simply made honest conversation almost impossible.
Is caution the same as dishonesty?
Can an interview be candid without becoming intrusive?
And when every celebrity gives the same safe answers, what are we still watching for?The episode also looks at what makes a genuinely good interview: specific questions, real follow-ups, personality, trust and boundaries.
Thankfully, it is ending.
What began as a sharp, revealing and entertaining celebrity chat show now often feels like a carefully managed PR exercise where everyone knows what to say — and, more importantly, what not to say.
Still, the final season may be worth watching selectively for the nostalgia, legacy guests, reunions and a two-decade recap of Bollywood.
Because the couch may no longer be a truth serum… but it remains a fascinating time capsule.

Sat, 17 Oct 2026 - 17min - 17 - Indian Censor Board Should Be Censored | Certify, Don’t Censor | DMPS Ep. 17
Why, in 2026, are adults still being told what they can and cannot watch in a cinema hall?
In DMPS Episode 17, Rahul & Tanya debate whether India still needs a film certification system that also effectively behaves like a censor.
The trigger: Spider-Man: Brand New Day reportedly received a UA 13+ certificate — and yet an eight-second kissing scene was still ordered to be removed.
At the same time, viewers can go home and watch far more explicit content on OTT platforms, where the system is based largely on age classification, content descriptors and parental controls.
So why can’t cinema work the same way?
Tell us what’s in the film.
Tell us what age it’s appropriate for.
Warn us about sex, violence, language or disturbing content. Then let the audience decide.
The debate isn’t about allowing illegal content. It’s about whether a certification board should do exactly what its name suggests:
CERTIFY. NOT CENSOR.
Also in the episode: fresh OTT releases, entertainment buzz and quick picks.
🎬 DMPS Recommends: Slow Horses — Apple TV

Movies. Shows. Gossip. Culture. Our take.Thu, 15 Oct 2026 - 10min - 16 - Who Is a Star Now? | Bollywood Superstars vs OTT, YouTube & Creator Culture | DMPS Ep. 16
What does “stardom” even mean anymore?
There was a time when becoming a star meant films, theatres, massive openings and larger-than-life celebrity. Today, fame can come from OTT, YouTube, Instagram, regional cinema, microdramas and creator platforms — sometimes without a traditional Bollywood breakthrough at all.
In DMPS Episode 16, Rahul & Tanya debate whether the age of the superstar is fading… or whether stardom has simply been unbundled.
Are theatrical superstars still in a league of their own?
Can an OTT actor have just as much cultural impact?
Are creators now competing with movie stars for attention?
And in this fragmented entertainment world, does the question now become: “Star to whom?”Also in the episode: the latest entertainment buzz, new releases and quick watchlist picks.
🎬 DMPS Recommends: ANIMALS — Netflix
⭐ DMPS Rating: 5/10Our verdict? A so-called mystery that keeps promising something interesting… and then lands on a climax that makes the whole journey feel even more pointless.

Movies. Shows. Gossip. Culture. Our take.Sun, 11 Oct 2026 - 13min - 15 - Global Content, Local Connect? | When a Good Show Still Feels Far Away | DMPS Ep. 15
Streaming has opened the doors to stories from every corner of the world. Korean dramas, Spanish thrillers, European crime shows, American mysteries — everything is just one click away.
But does access automatically create connection?
In DMPS Episode 15, Rahul & Tanya debate an interesting problem of the global streaming era: sometimes a show may be well-made, well-reviewed and genuinely interesting… and yet, as an Indian viewer, you still don’t quite connect with its world, characters or setting.
So what makes some culturally specific stories travel brilliantly across borders, while others continue to feel distant?
Is relatability about geography?
Culture?
Human emotions?
Or simply the way a story is told?🎬 DMPS Recommends: Last Seen — Apple TV
The verdict is still a little complicated. There are gaps, the setting may feel quite unrelatable to many Indian viewers, and we’re not even sure what numerical rating to give it.

Movies. Shows. Gossip. Culture. Our take.Thu, 08 Oct 2026 - 13min - 14 - Who Owns Your Face? AI, Deepfakes & Bollywood’s Digital Doppelgängers | DMPS Ep. 14
What happens when an actor’s face, voice and identity can be recreated by AI?
In DMPS Episode 14, Rahul and Tanya debate the rapidly changing world of AI, deepfakes and digital replicas in entertainment.
On one side, celebrities may soon be able to license authorised AI versions of themselves for ads, dubbing and branded content. On the other, non-consensual deepfakes show how quickly the same technology can become invasive and abusive.
So where should the line be drawn?
For DMPS, it comes down to four things:
Consent. Control. Compensation. Disclosure.

Dekho Magar Pyar Se.Mon, 05 Oct 2026 - 12min - 13 - Too Much to Watch, Nothing to Watch? | Has Streaming Killed Anticipation? | DMPS Ep. 13
We have more movies, series and streaming platforms than ever before. So why do we still open Netflix, Prime Video or JioHotstar, scroll endlessly… and say, “Kuch dekhne ko hai hi nahi”?
In DMPS Episode 13, Rahul & Priya debate whether the explosion of OTT content has actually made entertainment better — or simply made choosing harder.
Have we moved from a scarcity of content to a scarcity of attention? Has binge culture killed anticipation? And with regional cinema, international shows, K-dramas, anime, micro-dramas and new releases arriving constantly, is the real problem no longer access — but discovery and curation?

Fri, 02 Oct 2026 - 16min - 12 - Bollywood vs Instagram: Are Stars Choosing Reels Over Roles? | DMPS Ep. 12
Has Instagram changed Bollywood so much that the star is now becoming bigger than the film?
In DMPS Episode 12, Rahul and Priya debate how social media, influencer economics, brand collaborations and the always-on celebrity culture may be changing the incentives of Hindi-film actors.
Why spend months shooting a film, risk reviews and box-office failure, when a personal brand can generate money, visibility and relevance every single day? Has Instagram simply given stars another income stream — or has it slowly reduced the importance of the craft, mystique and commitment that once defined Bollywood?
We also look at the other side of the argument: cinema is still very much alive, films are still being made at scale, and perhaps Bollywood isn’t dying at all — it is simply adapting to a new attention economy.
And in DMPS Recommends, we discuss The New York Times’ list of the 100 Best TV Shows of the 21st Century, including Breaking Bad, The Wire, Mad Men, Succession and Fleabag.
⭐ DMPS Rating:

Dekho Magar Pyar Se.Wed, 30 Sep 2026 - 22min - 11 - Kya Hindi Gaane Desh Ka Mood Batate Hain? | Cinema, Society & India Through the Decades | DMPS Ep. 11
Can the mood of Hindi songs and films tell us something about the mood of India itself?
In DMPS Episode 11, we travel from the optimism of the 1950s to the turbulence of the 1960s and 70s, the changing aspirations of the 1980s, the confidence of post-liberalisation India in the 1990s, and the increasingly fragmented cultural landscape of the 2000s, 2010s and today.
The big question: does cinema mirror society, offer an escape from it, or sometimes do both at the same time?
Rahul and Priya look at how changing economics, politics, aspirations and social attitudes may have shaped the stories we watched and the songs we loved.
Also in this episode, DMPS Recommends looks ahead to Drishyam: The Conclusion — a franchise we genuinely wait for, especially with the Hindi version reportedly taking a different route from the Malayalam film, and even a Korean remake in the works.
