What if a belief you’ve seen all over New Age spirituality has a history you’ve never been told?

This week we’re diving deep into the origins of Starseeds and following the trail from Lemuria and Theosophy to William Dudley Pelley and the ideas that shaped modern Starseed culture.

We explore how a scientific theory about lemurs became a lost civilization, how racial hierarchies became woven into spiritual teachings, and how those ideas evolved into beliefs about advanced souls, alien races and even reptilian beings.

This isn’t about shaming anyone who has connected with Starseed beliefs. It’s about understanding where these ideas came from, recognising the history they carry, and deciding what we want to take forward in our own spiritual practices.

Siri shares the wild origin story of being claimed by Odin via the infamous “Minneapolis Murder” of crows, how that encounter led them into Heathenry, and what it really means to build a relationship with the runes as living spirits.

Most importantly, we explore what it means to queer the runes, both as an identity and as a verb. Happy New Year! To kick off the year with a bang we’re joined by Brit Koch, an Indigenous educator and creator who teaches rest, ritual, and resistance, for a grounded conversation on decolonizing self-care and spirituality.

Brit breaks down what “decolonizing self-care” actually means: moving away from the consumer-driven version of wellness (the constant “buy this to feel better” cycle) and returning to practices that are accessible, nature-rooted, and internally led. We talk about the line between appreciation vs. appropriation, including why white sage is a common example and what to do if you already own it.

We also explore the recent history many people were never taught, including how Indigenous spiritual practices were legally restricted until 1978, and why that context matters when we talk about “gatekeeping.” From there, Brit shares simple, no-cost practices you can start with today like grounding, working with the elements, and reconnecting with your ancestry and lineage in respectful ways.

Plus, we discuss how creators and teachers can engage in this work without tokenizing, and how self-care can expand into community care in a sustainable, meaningful way.

Today we’re talking about Gerald Gardner, why he’s called the father of modern Wicca, and how a prescription for nudism somehow became part of the origin story. Along the way we sort out a big misconception, why Wicca isn’t the same thing as witchcraft, and how witchcraft existed long before Wicca ever had a name.

We dig into the timeline, Gardner’s rise in the 1950s after the repeal of Britain’s Witchcraft Act, his public “yep, I’m a witch” moment, and the way figures like Doreen Valiente helped shape (and challenge) what Wicca became. Then we get into the messy bits, such as questionable credentials, borrowed material, rigid hierarchy, secrecy, gender roles, and why some of this still echoes in modern “love and light” spirituality.

Finally, we unpack the Wiccan ethics everyone argues about online, from the Wiccan Rede (“harm none”) to the Threefold Law, including why it’s often treated like karma… and why that comparison falls apart when you look at karma’s actual roots.
