- 166 - Ep. 163 - 39th Floor, Tower One: A 9/11 Survivor's Road Home with Psychedelics
On September 11, 2001, John Kostick was working as an electrician on the 39th floor of Tower One. He got out. Then he went back and spent the next 12 to 18 months at Ground Zero doing rescue and recovery. He carried it for decades: the smoke, the smells, the horrors. Then came the physical toll. In 2004 his voice started to fade, one of many injuries left by the trauma and toxins of that site. John also talks about a hard truth. Civilian 9/11 survivors never got the same standard of care as first responders. In this episode, Whiz and John talk about how John finally found peace. Dr. Lance Cutsforth brought him to a retreat in Colorado with Mons Sana, where he met Whiz. Through ceremony and entheogenic medicine, John was cracked wide open. He purged 23 years of trauma and shame and came out with a new truth: 9/11 didn't happen to him. It happened for him.Today John is on a new mission with the 9/11 Project (911project.org). He's building a full list of 9/11 memorials across the country. He makes a point of visiting the small, overlooked ones that mean the most to their local communities, so that no one's memory is lost.In this episode:Surviving the North Tower and the long months at Ground ZeroThe health fallout and the gaps in care for civilian survivorsHow medicine and community helped John heal his Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI)Why small memorials matter, and the work of 911project.org🔗 911project.org See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Tue, 22 Sep 2026 - 59min - 165 - Ep. 162 - The Aviation Mindset: Why Pilots Hide—and How They Heal
Aviation has advanced dramatically since Matthew “Whiz” Buckley first entered the cockpit nearly four decades ago. Aircraft are safer, technology is smarter, and training is more sophisticated—but approximately 80% of civilian and military aviation mishaps still involve human error. For generations, aviators were taught to hide anything that might suggest they were struggling. Raising a hand and asking for help could mean being grounded—taking away the one thing that may have been keeping them alive. Pilots learned to compartmentalize, suppress, and keep everything from their flight surgeons.Compartmentalization may be essential in the air. It can be devastating on the ground. In this powerful episode of MAX Afterburner, Whiz sits down with Dr. Abigail Powell to explore mental health throughout the aviation community, how far the culture has come, and how far it still needs to go. Whiz also discusses becoming one of the first aviators to speak publicly about his own healing through psychedelic-assisted therapy—and why vulnerability, honesty, and asking for help are signs of courage, not weakness.Dr. Powell explains the holistic approach she takes with her patients—mind, body, and soul. Their conversation covers everything from diet, exercise, and sleep to stress, burnout, trauma, transitions, and the psychological demands of a high-performance career.Dr. Abigail Powell, PhD, is a Texas-licensed psychologist and the founder of The Aviation Therapist. She specializes in aviation psychology, mental performance, burnout, and the unique mental health challenges faced by pilots and aviation professionals. As the spouse of a former Navy SEAL turned pilot, she also brings a personal understanding of the demands placed on military families and the aviation community.Through her upcoming platform, The Aviation Mindset, Dr. Powell combines psychology, neuroscience, human performance, and wellness to help aviators build resilience and perform at their best—without sacrificing their mental health.Instagram: @TheAviationTherapistWebsite: https://theaviationtherapist.com/Coming soon: https://theaviationmindset.com/ See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 57min - 164 - Ep. 161 - Thirty Days That Changed Everything
August 2026 will be remembered as the month the institutions finally caught up to the warriors who went first. In this episode, Whiz Buckley walks through thirty days that would have been unthinkable five years ago. The VA Secretary reported his department is making real strides on psychedelic therapy for veterans. The Department of War formally recognized Operator Syndrome — the cumulative toll carried by the men and women who spent careers at the tip of the spear. The New York Times ran a piece on Americans facing danger seeking treatment at clinics outside the country. And hours later, a federal report from SAMHSA landed telling states to start preparing now for FDA approval of psychedelics — the clearest signal yet that this is no longer a question of if.Whiz also connects a thread most people missed. A year and a half ago he sat down with VA Secretary Doug Collins and told him to go get the ibogaine research Dr. Deborah Mash had done in the early 1990s — work that had been sitting on a shelf for three decades. This month, the President announced the University of Miami had handed that entire investigational drug application over to the federal government. He closes where the whole thing started. Five years ago he was lying on a mattress in Mexico. This year he stood in the Oval Office for an executive order signing. No one is ever truly broken — God does not make imperfect things — and August proved the machine is finally moving.Fight's On! Tue, 01 Sep 2026 - 1h 03min - 163 - Ep. 160 - From Wall Street to the Warfighter: A Critical Update
In Episode 160 of the MAX Afterburner Podcast, former Navy TOPGUN fighter pilot, Wall Street executive, and No Fallen Heroes Foundation Founder Matthew "Whiz" Buckley delivers a powerful update on two worlds that are rapidly converging: the evolution of psychedelic medicine and the realities of modern combat.Buckley begins with a deeply personal reflection on his son's demanding service in the United States Air Force, honoring the men and women who care for wounded warriors and support the families of America's fallen heroes. He then explores the unprecedented momentum in the psychedelic space, including Big Pharma's entrance into the field, groundbreaking industry developments, and what these advances could mean for millions suffering from trauma. While celebrating the progress, Buckley also offers candid warnings about the challenges and risks that accompany rapid commercialization. The episode then shifts to the escalating conflict in the Middle East, where hundreds of U.S. service members have already been injured, many with traumatic brain injuries and other life-altering wounds. Buckley explains why organizations like the No Fallen Heroes Foundation are preparing now to help these heroes heal when they return home and why emerging psychedelic therapies may offer one of the most promising frontiers for treating TBI and the invisible wounds of war.Equal parts market intelligence, national security briefing, and message of hope, Episode 160 challenges listeners to think differently about the future of warrior care, mental health, and America's responsibility to those who serve. This is an episode every veteran, first responder, policymaker, healthcare professional, investor, and patriot should hear. Tue, 04 Aug 2026 - 1h 03min - 162 - Ep. 159 - Operation Epic Fury: Why Proportional Warfare Is for Losers
In Episode 159 of the MAX Afterburner Podcast, Matthew “Whiz” Buckley delivers an unfiltered SITREP on Operation Epic Fury, the escalating conflict with Iran, and the daily confusion surrounding negotiations, red lines, and America's strategic objectives.Pulling no punches, Whiz argues that proportional warfare is for losers and contends that the radical Islamic regime in Iran began its war against the United States nearly five decades ago. He examines President Trump's stated desire to finish that fight while questioning whether current negotiations and military strategy are achieving the desired outcome.Drawing on his experience as a TOPGUN fighter pilot who spent a lot of time in the region, Whiz discusses the dangers of prolonged military operations, the risks faced by America's young servicemembers, and why he believes dragging conflicts out can carry costs measured not only in lives lost, but in lives forever changed. He highlights the recent shootdown of a U.S. Army AH-64 Apache helicopter by Iranian forces. By the grace of God, both aviators survived. Yet Whiz challenges the notion that America should only respond decisively after fatalities occur. He argues that traumatic brain injuries, life-altering wounds, and invisible injuries suffered by servicemembers matter just as much as casualty statistics. As the founder of the No Fallen Heroes Foundation, Whiz has spent years working with veterans carrying the unseen wounds of war. He points out that repeated drone, missile, and proxy attacks don't have to kill American troops to inflict devastating consequences. Every attack risks creating another generation of warriors who return home carrying physical, emotional, and moral injuries that can last a lifetime.Whiz also challenges the idea that America's adversaries can be negotiated with as if they were business partners across a Manhattan real estate table. He questions whether mixed messaging, shifting red lines, and prolonged operations are putting more American lives at risk rather than bringing the conflict to a decisive conclusion. But this episode is about more than strategy and geopolitics. As always, Whiz speaks from the heart, reminding listeners that war is the ultimate failure of the human condition. Beneath the flags, politics, religions, and borders, we are all human beings. While he calls for decisive action when necessary, he also calls for peace—and for leaders to never forget the human cost paid by those sent into harm's way.Passionate. Provocative. Thought-provoking.This is an episode that will challenge assumptions, spark debate, and leave listeners thinking long after the debrief is over.Fight's On! Thu, 04 Jun 2026 - 57min - 159 - Ep. 156 - Five Years Reborn: Whiz Debriefs the Mission, the Cost, and What Comes Next
Five years ago to the day, Matthew "Whiz" Buckley woke up on a mattress on the floor of a home in Mexico overlooking the Pacific — and met the man he had always been. Decades of abuse, shame, trauma, addiction, sadness, and depression were gone. In their place: the most profound spiritual experience of his life. A reconnection with God. With his sister. With his father. A clarity of purpose that would launch a five-year mission no one could have scripted. In this deeply personal anniversary episode, Whiz debriefs all of it — the highs, the lows, the people and organizations who came and went, the situations that broke him open and built him back up. He reflects on what that single weekend set in motion: hundreds of veterans, first responders, and their families healed. The founding of Sacred Warrior Fellowship. Standing in the White House for the President's executive order signing. Conversations at Harvard Law and Harvard Divinity School. A meeting with the Secretary of the VA. National news appearances. And underneath all of it — a man reconnected to purpose, family, and faith.Whiz doesn't shy away from the cost. He talks honestly about the losses, the betrayals, the seasons of doubt, and the gratitude he now holds for every ounce of suffering that brought him here. He looks ahead to the next five years, but refuses to grip the future too tightly. Everything that is supposed to happen will happen when it is supposed to. He trusts God's plan. This one is for anyone carrying a burden they think they have to carry alone. For the warrior wondering if healing is even possible. For the family member who has been watching someone they love disappear. Share it with someone who needs to hear it.Fight's On! He got hooked on the pain reliever Tramadol and ended up in rehab. A couple years ago he saw tier one operators on podcasts sharing their healing journeys with psychedelic assisted therapy and felt the call of the medicine. Thu, 07 May 2026 - 43min - 155 - Ep. 152 - Whiz at the White House: The End of the Beginning
Five years. Closed doors. A mattress on the floor of a home in Mexico. Visits to DC where the "leaders" weren't ready. Retreats. God moments. Sweat and tears and everything in between. Then - a phone call on a Friday afternoon. By Saturday morning, Whiz was standing in the Oval Office with the President of the United States for the historic signing of the Executive Order on psychedelic therapies for veterans. In this episode, Whiz debriefs one of the most extraordinary stretches of his life.It started in a cockpit over Colorado - flying Eric Trump in the No Fallen Heroes fighter jet. Days later he was standing in the Chapel at Harvard Divinity School, the same room where Emerson delivered his famous address, reflecting on faith, mission, and what it means to keep pushing when the doors stay closed. One week after that - the Oval Office.Fighter pilot. Veteran. Founder. And now, a witness to history.Whiz breaks down what this Executive Order actually means for veterans - and calls out the Americans turning a life-or-death mission into a political football. He addresses Joe Rogan directly: a man who has never sat with ibogaine, but who had the platform to shine a spotlight on what veterans and organizations like No Fallen Heroes Foundation have been doing quietly for years. Healing Our Heroes. He shares what this moment means, what it doesn't mean, and why he's calling it the end of the beginning. Because the policy may have changed — but the real work is just getting started.Through it all, Whiz finds gratitude in the suffering. Every closed door. Every hard year. Every low moment. He breaks down the coordination, risk, and courage required to bring American aircrew home when everything goes sideways, reminding listeners what “so that others may live” truly looks like in real time. Then, in classic Whiz fashion, he takes direct aim at critics accusing the President of potential war crimes for considering strikes on Iranian infrastructure. He dismantles the narrative with a clear, unapologetic explanation of how successful air campaigns are actually conducted. From the opening phases of Operation Desert Storm to modern doctrine, he explains why targeting infrastructure early is not only strategic, it’s often essential to ending conflict faster and saving lives.Whiz connects the dots between past and present, offering his unfiltered assessment of where this conflict is headed, what it means for global stability, and how markets, military strategy, and geopolitics are all intertwined. He closes the episode not with more fire, but with faith, ending in a powerful prayer for peace. This is more than a debrief. This is a must-listen episode.A classic Whiz rant with purpose, perspective, and conviction.Fight’s On! Whiz gives the unfiltered assessment: bipartisan support sounds good on paper, but words from senators mean absolutely nothing until warriors are actually getting healed. In a significant debrief, Whiz recounts his flight with Eric Trump - breaking down how he briefed him on the mission of No Fallen Heroes Foundation and Sacred Warrior Fellowship, and why he's doing everything in his power to get that message all the way to the Oval Office. He's attacking in every direction to bring healing to America's heroes at home.Whiz closes Episode 150 with a call for close air support - asking fellow Americans to lock in and fund the foundation and the church, because the mission doesn't run on goodwill alone. This one is personal. Thu, 15 Jan 2026 - 1h 03min - 143 - Ep. 140 - No Fallen Heroes: Justice, Healing, and Awakening
In this episode, Matthew “Whiz” Buckley delivers one of his most unfiltered and important debriefs to date.He opens by addressing the Somalian fraud uncovered in Minnesota, and the deep outrage it ignites in him as a combat veteran. While millions are exploited through systemic fraud, countless veterans continue to fight exhausting, dehumanizing battles to access the benefits they were promised for their service. Buckley makes one thing clear: these benefits are not handouts. They are obligations. Earned. Owed. The conversation then shifts to a year-end debrief of No Fallen Heroes Foundation and what 2025 represented. Buckley reflects on the lives impacted, the healing witnessed, and the responsibility that comes with holding space for those carrying war, trauma, addiction, and loss. He also previews what lies ahead in 2026, outlining the next phase of growth, reach, and mission expansion as the foundation continues its work to bring real healing home to veterans and their families. The second half of the episode turns deeply personal and profoundly human.Buckley shares a raw debrief of his own spiritual awakening and why it became an inseparable part of his healing journey. He speaks to the spiritual injuries that so often go unnamed, especially among veterans, and challenges the idea that healing can be complete without addressing the deeper questions of identity, meaning, and connection. Awakening, he explains, is not a sign of being broken, but a process of remembering what was always there beneath the trauma. This episode stands at the intersection of accountability, service, and transformation. It is a call to honor veterans not just with words, but with action. And it is an invitation for anyone on a healing path to understand that spiritual awakening is not separate from recovery. It is often the doorway through it.This is not a comfortable conversation. It is a necessary one.Return Home. Fri, 19 Sep 2025 - 1h 00min - 133 - Episode 131: - Benjamin, Stand Down…But Keep Your Powder Dry
In this amped up episode, Matthew “Whiz” Buckley, a U.S. Navy TOPGUN fighter pilot turned founder of the Sacred Warrior Fellowship, reacts to a landmark legal victory for religious liberty and why it’s reason for both celebration and vigilance. A federal judge ruled that Singularism, a small entheogen-based faith community in Utah, has its sacramental use of psilocybin protected under Utah’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The court blasted the state’s actions as “offensively broad,” “ironic,” and tantamount to harassment, ordering the return of sacramental psilocybin seized in a controversial raid. For Whiz, who served 15 years defending the Constitution, this is more than a legal win, it’s a frontline moment in the battle to protect the First Amendment. As the judge noted, true religious freedom must protect unfamiliar faiths as fiercely as familiar ones, and sincerity of belief - not tradition - is the key criterion.Through the lens of Sacred Warrior Fellowship, Whiz explains how this precedent strengthens protections for entheogenic churches across the nation. The message is clear: stand down for now, but keep your powder dry. Government overreach can appear without warning, and when it does, he’ll be ready to fight again. Derek served over two decades in uniform, beginning as an Aircraft Armament Repairman and Missile Systems Maintainer for the OH-58D Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter before being selected for the elite 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), the legendary “Night Stalkers.” Providing critical ground support for America’s most sensitive missions, Derek carried the weight of years of service, leadership, and sacrifice, along with the invisible wounds of a traumatic brain injury sustained in the line of duty.Like too many of his brothers-in-arms, Derek faced the crushing reality of TBI symptoms, PTSD, and the devastating loss of friends to suicide, including one the day after he returned from his first ibogaine journey. Determined to find a path forward, Derek turned to powerful entheogenic sacraments: ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT. These sacred medicines not only brought him profound personal healing, but also transformed the life of his wife, Jennifer, who had battled debilitating autoimmune conditions for years. In this conversation, Derek opens up about his service with the Night Stalkers, the toll of TBI, and the healing potential of sacred plant medicines. He shares lessons learned from both the battlefield and his journey home, along with his mission to help other veterans struggling in silence. Derek’s story is one of courage, resilience, and hope - proof that there is a way through the darkness, and that no warrior has to walk that path alone. In Episode 127 of the MAX Afterburner podcast, Whiz opens with a powerful celebration of progress in the healing space. He highlights Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s recent statement to Congress, where the HHS secretary boldly called for psychedelic therapies to be made available to veterans within the next 12 months. Whiz also spotlights a landmark five-year study from The Ohio State University showing that a single heroic dose of psilocybin helped 67% of participants recover from depression—with no relapse.Whiz then offers a transparent debrief on why the No Fallen Heroes Foundation didn’t attend the Psychedelic Science conference in force - 'a self licking ice cream cone & echo chamber'. He expresses concern over the commercialization of the healing movement and directly calls out several for-profit ibogaine clinics in Mexico for price gouging vulnerable veterans and families in crisis. “Healing shouldn’t come with a luxury price tag,” he says. The episode takes a deeper turn as Whiz addresses recent criticism surrounding Operation Midnight Hammer and the perceived contradiction of “celebrating war” while preaching healing. He responds with clarity and conviction, saying he is against all war—calling it the ultimate failure of human consciousness. But, he argues, if war must happen, it should be so brutal and unforgiving that it deters future conflict. He also shares a powerful reflection on the archetype of “the man who wanted to be left alone,” framing it as a cautionary tale for a world that pushes healed warriors too far. Finally, Whiz reflects on the last four years of his own journey—filled with setbacks, breakthroughs, and relentless work. He declares this moment “the end of the beginning”—and affirms that the real mission, the deeper healing and transformation, begins now. In this powerful episode of MAX Afterburner Matthew “Whiz” Buckley shares where he is nearly four years after first sitting with the medicine—and why the path of awakening is anything but easy.Spiritual awakening is not all light and bliss. It often feels like a death—the death of who you thought you were. The dismantling of ego, identity, and the structures that once made you feel safe. It’s disorienting. It’s heavy. And it can feel painfully lonely. But Whiz reminds listeners: you are not alone. If you choose to heal, if you choose to walk through this fire, you’re walking with others who are doing the same. What feels like destruction is actually divine reconstruction. God removes the old not to punish, but to make room for the new. Truth isn’t good or bad—it’s just truth. And once it’s seen, it demands change. And there’s no turning back. This episode also touches on the recent passing of the Pope and Whiz’s public disagreement with how the Church has handled American Catholic politicians who support abortion—even up to and beyond birth. Silence from spiritual leaders in the face of moral conflict is not neutrality—it’s complicity. Finally, Whiz shares the gut-wrenching news that three people he knew personally were killed in a tragic plane crash in Boca Raton—news he received immediately after leaving the studio during a previous recording.Raw. Prepared to be blown away when Whiz tells you what happened with John on the medicine. And what this man purged for over an hour to heal will make you cry. 17 brave souls sat with the medicine including a man whose 21-year-old son was murdered and several female veterans who experienced MST (military sexual trauma). Thu, 16 May 2024 - 58min - 99 - Ep. 98 - The Reality Behind Psychedelic Legalization with Dr. Matthew Johnson
Dr. Matthew Johnson joins Whiz for an explosive podcast covering some of the recent controversy in the psychedelic space surrounding clinical trials and potential bias. Dr. Johnson and Whiz met a couple years ago speaking at the Psychedelic Medicine Coalition along with Tim Ferris and Rick Doblin. Dr. Johnson is one of the world's leading and most published scientists on the human effects of psychedelics and has conducted seminal research in the behavioral economics of drug use, addiction, and risk behavior. Dr. Johnson led critical research at Johns Hopkins, along with Dr. Roland Griffiths, into the healing potential of psilocybin. He and Whiz dig dip into how personal bias can creep into studies, potentially impacting the outcome, when it’s not needed to impact positive results. They also discuss how negative results can only help the cause by having an open and honest debate about data, not feelings. BYOB – bring your own Budda if you want – but don’t be steered by researchers. Whiz shares how God, religion and spirituality were not part of his ‘pre-trip’ prep, but that was the result he experienced. Thu, 18 Apr 2024 - 55min - 96 - Ep. 95 - Red Teaming Clinical Trials & Political Hypocrisy
In this explosive Whiz solo podcast he lets loose a dual rant, starting by ‘red teaming’ a report from an ‘independent nonprofit’ and their red team of the MAPS clinical trials. Whiz reminds listeners to ‘follow the money’ and questions the use of anonymous first and secondhand sources. He also wonders if it’s possible to completely remove bias from any trial (it’s not) and asks how a placebo group cannot know they didn’t get real MDMA. The report from ICER (Institute for Clinical and Economic Review) is certainly a potential threat to rescheduling the drug for therapeutic use. Whiz shifts his fire to the Biden administrations criticism of the unfortunate drone strike that killed innocent civilians, while reminding listeners we did the exact same thing leaving Afghanistan, with no one being held accountable. He opens the podcast with an update on the No Fallen Heroes universe and the simultaneous efforts underway including docuseries, Healing Realty Trust, My Crew Doses, and NuGrowth Connections. Thu, 11 Apr 2024 - 53min - 95 - Ep. 94 - Coping with Combat Trauma using Entheogenic Medicine
Dr. Kristin ‘Rosie’ Barnes is back! This former F-14 Tomcat radar intercept officer turned doctor is blazing a path of healing while putting the ladder down to help others. Rosie debriefs her joint MDMA/psilocybin journey, which was basically a 1v1 dogfight with herself. MDMA is a ‘heart opener’ while psilocybin for some is more ‘internal’. She debriefs how she faced and started healing the moral injuries she incurred flying combat sorties over Afghanistan. Her incredible journey included her ‘feeling’ every armed conflict back to World War I, feeling the sheer terror of trench warfare as a young soldier. She also debriefs her ketamine experience and along with Whiz, strongly recommends this medicine as a bridge or ‘triage’ to potentially lead to deeper healing with plant medicine. Finally, Whiz and Doc agree that these healing medicines have the potential to turn warriors into peacemakers. Maybe this is a reason our government is dragging their feet to legalize these medicines for therapeutic use? Thu, 29 Feb 2024 - 1h 00min - 91 - Ep. 90 - What you NEED to know about Psychedelic Assisted Therapy
Whiz finishes debriefing his ketamine experience, highlighting that this medicine is potentially a great ‘triage’ to stabilize those in need of immediate healing. In the second half Whiz gives his ‘medicine checklist’. Just as a fighter pilot never gets airborne on a mission without going through detailed preflight planning, intelligence gathering, and checklists, those seeking to sit with the medicine should follow a similar approach. Whiz briefs how he prepared his body, mind, and soul for the medicine work and shares his lessons learned, along with lessons learned from many No Fallen Heroes Foundation grant recipients. Finally, he tells listeners about the Maverick Mind line of microdosing supplements from My Crew Doses. Listeners can discount code ALWAYS30 for a 30% discount. These supplements can help prepare the body, mind, and soul for a healing journey, as well as sustain the growth through the integration phase. Thu, 22 Feb 2024 - 1h 09min - 90 - Ep. 89 - Healing as a Couple with Psychedelics
Suzi joins whiz on this special episode to discuss how important integration is after a psychedelic experience. They share personal details of the highs and lows as they've navigated their healing journeys on their own and as a couple. Thu, 15 Feb 2024 - 57min - 89 - Ep. 88 - Legal Psychedelic Therapy with Ketamine
Whiz breaks this episode up in half. He debriefs what’s currently going on in the world including Biden still waiting to respond to 3 dead Army soldiers. Later in the podcast he starts debriefing his experience sitting with ketamine in Malibu with Zappy Zapolin. Thu, 08 Feb 2024 - 54min - 88 - Ep. 87 - The TRUTH behind Psychedelic Integration
Whiz and No Fallen Heroes Director of Medicine Operations Nicole Fox debrief the ‘goods’ and ‘others’ from 2023 and preview what’s ahead for 2024. Whiz also shares how the medicine reveals truth, and that truth isn’t good or bad, it just is. He shares some recent personal struggles, wanting to show that the medicine requires ‘work’ and integration in order for there to be significant healing. Nicole and Whiz tease some big things on the radar for the No Fallen Heroes Foundation and other healing projects. Thu, 01 Feb 2024 - 1h 01min - 87 - Ep. 86 - Spirituality and Holding Space for Love
After more recent ‘attacks’ from so-called religious people, Whiz digs in again to share his thoughts on being religious versus spiritual, taking issue with someone who recently said he didn’t experience God, his father, or sister Monica – but ‘demons’. He questions how religious people can be so intolerant and judgmental, believing they alone know the true way to experience God. He digs into the Gnostic Gospels and the reasons behind their exclusion from the Bible (power and money) and how the use of psychedelics predates Christianity. Whiz explores why the Gospel of Thomas for example was not included in the Bible: specifically, the gnostic themes of knowledge and self-reflection over sacraments such as baptism and Holy Communion. According to this Gospel Jesus said the kingdom of God is within and spread all around us. The focus on inner work in the Gospel of Thomas leads one to believe that the kingdom of God is not a final destination but a state of self-discovery. He reminds listeners of his love for ALL no matter their religious beliefs or what they think of him. Thu, 25 Jan 2024 - 1h 02min - 86 - Ep. 85 - Healing Trauma From Columbine (Pt. 2)
In part 2 with Whiz and Chicken the guys take a dive deep into the importance of integration after sitting with the medicine. Without proper integration it may only be an experience, or in some cases a negative experience. As Whiz often says – “5% is the medicine, 95% is the integration”. Chicken also briefs the importance of informing a partner or loved one prior to a journey. The change over a short period of time can be radical and those at home need to be prepared. In his leadership position and with these medicines being legal in Colorado, Chris is working to put the ladder down for the first responders he cares for. Chicken plans on being part of the No Fallen Heroes team as they look to do more healing retreats in the Rocky Mountain state. Thu, 18 Jan 2024 - 1h 05min - 85 - Ep. 84 - Healing Trauma from Columbine
Whiz sits with Chris ‘Chicken’ Macklin, a Colorado first responder for over 30 years who recently took part in the No Fallen Heroes Foundation’s first healing retreat in the United Staes. Chris responded to the Columbine High School massacre in 1999. He thought he compartmentalized this horror and many of the other tragedies he experienced but his trauma surfaced in several unproductive ways. By the grace of God Chris attended the Veteran and First Responder dinner over the summer in Denver where Whiz gave the keynote. Chris was deeply moved by Whiz’s healing journey and immediately called his wife – ‘I’m going to do this.’ Chicken tells listeners of the nervousness he endured pulling up to the ranch…but he pulled down the driveway and his healing journey began. Thu, 28 Dec 2023 - 46min - 82 - Ep. 81 - Army Vets Journey with Psychedelic Medicine
In this very special episode Whiz REALLY lowers the average with an Army helo pilot (a little interservice rivalry) and recent No Fallen Heroes Foundation grant recipient Brent Rassat. Brent briefs his incredible service to America, serving as a tanker and then transitioning to warrant officer and the cockpit a HH-60M medevac helicopter of the 101st Airborne Division. He debriefs the harrowing flight conditions and missions in Afghanistan along with the trauma he suffered not only in combat but in his departure from the Army. After 14 years of honorable service Brent gets a handshake from a civil servant and starts to transition to civilian life. Brent tells of the tough times and how he found the No Fallen Heroes Foundation and briefs listeners of the medicine pre-flight prep, sitting with the medicine in Colorado, and his integration. After healing with psychedelic assisted therapy Brent won the war with himself and is an eagle once again. Thu, 21 Dec 2023 - 1h 03min - 81 - Ep. 80 - Are You 'Religious'? Whiz Has Some Questions for You
In this controversial episode Whiz confronts some of his detractors, so-called ‘religious’ people who believe healing medicines that have been used for thousands and thousands of years are evil or instruments of the devil. He asks how being a better father, husband, and human, and how finding his faith in God again with these medicines is evil and the work of ‘satan’. He tells listeners to check out ‘The Immortality Key’, an investigative work written by Brian Muraresku, to see the history of psychedelics and how they predate Christianity. He talks about the big difference between being religious and spiritual and recalls the horrors committed throughout history in the name of ‘god’. He also invites listeners to check out gospels that were not included in the Bible and to reflect on why. Whiz tells listeners that if we saw each other as we are – perfect souls – there would be no more war. In this episode Whiz briefs the recent report from the GAO that details our troops living in squalor, 50K homeless vets, 1.5M veterans are starving, and Zelenski visiting Washington looking for more money. Whiz rails against those who claim, “we can walk and chew gum!” – clearly, we can’t. We’re ignoring the daily struggle of our heroes while our southern border is being invaded. Whiz asks: How about we focus on doing a couple things well, instead of a lot of things poorly. Whiz opens the doors to the next No Fallen Heroes retreat, the end of October in CO. This will be the first healing retreat on US soil. She talks about how MDMA helps with not only PTSD but those with autism or social anxiety issues. Finally, she gives her prediction about when MDMA will be legal (once again) for therapeutic use. Tue, 12 Sep 2023 - 52min - 71 - Ep. 70 - From Bosnia to Benghazi: A Marine Officers Journey of Service & Being American to the Corps
Congressional candidate LtCol Jon Myers USMC (ret) joins Whiz on this powerful episode. Jon and Whiz have known each other for over 30 years, starting their friendship at Jacksonville University. LtCol Myers exceptional career in the Marines saw him at the center of major conflicts and critical decisions. From Scott O’Grady being shot down over Bosnia (and eventually rescued with Jon’s help), to being involved in Obama and Clinton’s disastrous response (or lack thereof) to the 9/11 attack on our embassy in Benghazi, LtCol Myer often provided the right solutions and intelligence to the national command authority, only to be overruled because of politics and optics. Even after leaving active service LtCol Myers continued to serve by helping coordinate the evacuation of stranded Americans in Afghanistan, when the president was lying that no Americans were left behind. Jon is now looking to continue his service to our nation by representing the 7th district of Virginia. He covers several issues he supports, including a great idea to help veterans financially. Whiz trusts and endorses Jon and strongly recommends you do as well by pitching into the fight and donating to his campaign. Tue, 01 Aug 2023 - 1h 04min - 68 - Ep. 67 - YOU Do Not Need Forgiveness (your ego does)
Whiz addresses the issue of 'asking for forgiveness' and how it’s not really needed – God does not make imperfect things. He covers A Course In Miracles and how it says that “forgiveness is unknown in Heaven, where the need for it would be inconceivable.” Whiz says many people who suffer in life may suffer more because they feel the need to seek forgiveness from those they believe they may have hurt or wronged. And what if they aren’t forgiven by those people? Whiz shares what he learned about forgiveness while sitting with the medicine and how it helped save and change his life – and maybe your too. Whiz tells us we’re at THE inflection point and we’re either going to rise and heal or implode and fail.
