Be Still and Know

Growing up it always seemed like even our feelings were sin. Which, let's be honest, could easily make anyone want to give up at that point. We can control feelings, but we can control our actions. So again, are feelings sin? 

The topic for the month is "Proof", as in "what is the truth", "who or what is my authority", "What about doubt", and finally "why does it even matter". 

All of us know what water is and how important yet fun it can be. But how many of you understand what Jesus meant when he called himself the living water?

Life is difficult, and there are so many left and right turns. Sometimes even u-turns. it can get pretty confusing traveling it alone, or even with a group of people where everyone has an opinion. Would it be better if you had a map that showed you the way? Well, the good news is, God left you the Map. He already knew it would be difficult and he wrote you a book on how to get through it. But you have to read it in order to travel the right path.

If you new you had an event coming up be it a concert, test, or race. you would practice, right? And even once a sports season has started during the season, you still practice, right? Well, you're in the season of life, and just as it says in the Bible, it's a race. Are you practicing?

What the temperature is outside verse what it feels like can be two completely different things. Not unlike how we think we may be for God and how we truly show how much we are for God. What is your Heat Index say about your relationship with God?

Our choices matter. Every decision we make affects the rest of our lives. Is YOLO (You Only Live Once) really a true statement and a way we should be living our lives, or does Eternal Life really mean something to us? how we choose to live and by the way we define our one life or everlasting life changes our actions and changes the type of person we are.

What is your whirlwind summer romance going to look like. Are you going to finally meet the one? Who is the one? No, like the one, the one to whom we should devote all our heart, our soul, our strength, and our mind to?

Why should fads control our lives? Wouldnt it be better to hold onto something that has stood the test of time! Make this summer a summer to truly remember, not because of that cool beach party you went to, or that awesome summer vacation trip you took. But because you chose to change your life so radically that for every day moving forward, you will thank yourself for that change.

The Hebrew word for "Angel" is Mal'ak (mal-ach), but this doesn't just mean a shiny thing with wings, it also means a prophet, priest, or teacher. Essentially, a messenger from God. So what are these Winged Celestial Beings that we mean when we speak of angels. And better yet, do we become angels when we die like the saying goes "Heaven received another angel today"?

What do you think "the rod" means in the Bible? how do you think it is to be used? Shebet pronounced Shay-bet, is the Hebrew word for Rod, but it means so much more. Matthew 5:38-39 reads; {You have heard it was said, “an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth” but I say to you, do not resist an evil person, but whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other toward him also.} What does this really mean? Does it mean we cannot defend ourselves? Or, is there a deeper meaning? A verse commonly used to be an excuse for not going to church. Today we dive into Matthew 18 as a whole, brief the main idea for the chapter, then dive deeper into verses 15-20 in order to put verse 20 into context.
