I never thought I would say this, but I am moving to New York City. I was born and raised in Texas for 25 years, but now, the big city is calling my name.

In today's episode, I tell you all how I lowkey started plotting this move almost a year ago, and how it is coming to life. It is going to be hard to leave my childhood bedroom, and my best friend Pop, but I am ready to get out of my comfort zone.

Grieving affects the creative process in ways I didn't even see coming. Suzy Batiz is an inspiration to women all over the world. She has gone from bankruptcy (twice)  to being recognized as one of America's Richest Self-Made Women by Forbes. Suzy is also a survivor of sexual abuse and domestic violence starting early in her life. This past July Suzy had a spread in People Magazine where she told her story of sexual abuse. The People feature was something that Amanda was very thankful for and identified with the experience of sexual assault. She talks to Amanda about the importance of owning your story. Your story is YOURS and it does not matter how others feel about your truth. 

Suzy gave amazing advice to Amanda on what to do when people from your past react to your story. She talks about the psychology behind trauma where your brain is programmed to forget details of traumatic experiences. Most importantly, she emphasizes the importance of realizing that trauma has to do with you and how you heal it.   

Amanda will be listening to this episode for the rest of her life to absorb the wisdom Suzy shared in this episode. "It is not about what people call you, it is what you respond to."
