Hour 1 What a time to be alive. The Mets are up 2 games on the Braves and the Jets are favored by 6 ½ over the Patriots. Luisangel Acuna hit his first HR as a Met and he looked really comfortable. We talked about the Mets team meeting they had Monday and Gio thinks they were delivering bad news about Francisco Lindor’s injury. We talked about Aaron Rodgers and getting rid of the ball quickly like Tom Brady. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Mets beating the Nationals big time. Pete Alonso talked about Lindor’s injury and how ‘the boys will hold it down’. The Yankees had no problem with the Mariners in Seattle. The Mariners tried a steal of home with the bases loaded and a 3-0 count on Justin Turner. It failed, inning over. Juan Soto homered and has now hit one in every MLB ballpark. Evan Roberts has a rallying phrase for the Giants: ‘Holy Crap’. Evan put together a song using A-I. In the final segment of the hour, ESPN SEC broadcaster Peter Burns had to have the heimlich maneuver performed on him. It took 4 people before it worked. Jerry saved somebody in the newsroom a few years ago and didn’t tell anyone. We have a Life Vac here and work and Gio wants it in the studio. Hour 2 We really broke down the Phil Simms commercial for ‘Balance of Nature’. Donald Trump is going to be at Nassau Coliseum tonight. What will that do for traffic in the area? A caller said his brother was choking at a BBQ and had to do the heimlich on himself using a chair. One caller had to heimlich 2 different people at 2 different times and had to heimlich himself once. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Mets beating the Nationals as Acuna had 3 hits including his first MLB HR. The Yankees beat the Mariners and Juan Soto homered, which means he’s homered in every MLB ballpark. Aaron Rodgers talked about getting some things fixed for tomorrow night’s home opener. Jerod Mayo talked about needing more from the Patriots passing game. In the final segment of the hour a caller wonders if you’d rather have the history of the Giants or the Niners? Hour 3 Phil Simms joins us in his weekly spot and said tomorrow night is not going to be easy for the Jets. They are not the disaster we thought they were going to be. Phil thinks this is going to be a low scoring game. He’s been impressed with the Patriots the first two weeks. We also talked about Daniel Jones and Malik Nabers performances last week. Phil said Myles Garrett is going to be a problem for them this week. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Mets beating the Nationals, 10-1. Jerry has an A-I song called ‘Holy Crap, Evan Roberts is a Douche’ after Evan’s ‘Holy Crap’ song from yesterday. Jose Altuve was thrown out for showing up the umpire after they said he didn’t foul a ball off his foot. Mel Kiper blames the Panthers for the Bryce Young situation. Stephen A. Smith compared Bryce Young to JaMarcus Russell. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the benching of Bryce Young and what the future holds for him. Will he end up being traded? Boomer doesn’t think they’ve given up on him, they are just sitting him down. Boomer said he’s on his third head coach and his second offense in just two years. We compared Young to Zach Wilson. Hour 4 Deion Sanders had a Mike Gundy, ‘I’m a man, I’m 40’ moment when he was talking about the way the press is treating his players. He thinks the media is jealous of the player because they make more money than the journalists. Sanders seems to always be on the offensive. Colin Cowherd wants the people of Pennsylvania to worry more about voting and less about the Eagles. Jerry returns for his final update of the day but first we have a clip from Russ Salzberg who said there’s one member of the media that covers the Giants that is rooting for their failure. Tue, 17 Sep 2024 - 19180 - Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)
Hour 1 The Eagles lost to the Falcons last night because Saquon Barkley dropped a short pass that would have essentially ended the game. That allowed Kirk Cousins to go down the field and throw a game winning TD. The Panthers have benched Bryce Young in favor of Andy Dalton. This also happened when Frank Reich was the coach in Carolina but he was forced to put Young back in. So the Panthers could be looking for another quarterback at the same time the Giants are. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of Kevin Harlan as the Falcons beat the Eagles last night after a crucial drop by Barkley. Rob Saleh still has no update on Haason Reddick. Brian Daboll is not in panic mode yet as we are only heading into week 3. Boomer said they need to stop the run. Mike Francesa said Daboll looks like ‘a guy that wants to jump off a bridge’. Mike McDaniel gave an update on Tua’s situation. Starling Marte had the game winning hit in the 10th for the Mets. In the final segment of the hour, Gio had another gout flareup yesterday on the golf course. Hour 2 Gio wonders what John Mara thinks about Brian Daboll. Boomer said he’s an old school coach that gets mad with reporters and gets mad with players and will get in their face. He’s the opposite of Rob Saleh. Boomer thinks an owner would like someone that coaches hard like Bill Parcells. We took some calls about last night’s Eagles choke job as they lost to the Falcons. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of Monday Night Football as the Eagles blew it and the Falcons won. Brian Daboll said the offense in general made good improvements from week 1 to week 2. Kurt Warner said Daniel Jones stood out to him in week 2. Micah Parsons said the effort was not there from the Cowboys. The Mets won in walk off fashion on a Starling Marte single in the 10th. In the final segment of the hour, Al reposted a video of annoying guys at a Springsteen show, and the person in the video responded that Springsteen music saved his life. Hour 3 We talked about the Giants starting 0-2 and what that means for playoff chances. Gio said the Giants at 0-2 is a different animal than the Bengals being 0-2 right now. We talked about the terrible turf at MetLife as the Jets play home on Thursday night. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Falcons beating the Eagles thanks to a Saquon drop and a Jalen Hurts pick. We heard from Rob Saleh and Brian Daboll about this past weekend’s games. Jerry has audio from Evan & Tiki with Tommy and Morash going back and forth about Daboll. The Panthers are benching Bryce Young for Andy Dalton. The Mets beat the Nationals thanks to Marte and Iglesias. In the final segment of the hour, Gio’s 3-year old is obsessed with halloween. She carries a skeleton with her everywhere. Gio’s dog, Elvis, is going to be Elvis for halloween. And he will be in the Sayville dog parade. Gio also said you have to hate your life if you want to be on a school board. Hour 4 Boomer is not a fan of the Mayor of NYC. It’s time to play Guess The Spread for week 3 in the NFL. We also talked about the Giants going to Cleveland this week and how tough a game it’s going to be for them. Boomer said there is going to be huge pressure for the Giants to hire Bill Belichick if this season goes south. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about the rock band, Bush. We wondered when prostitution would become legal in the U.S. with weed and sports gambling legalized. We also talked about past rumors about Eddie Murphy. Jerry finally gets to his update and starts with the Falcons beating the Eagles thanks in part to a Saquon drop that prevented them from running the clock out. Chad Ochocinco does not like the benching of Bryce Young and called it ‘insubordination’. The Mets beat the Nationals in 10 on a base hit from Starling Marte. Rob Saleh talked about Aaron Rodgers’ experience in the huddle. Jermaine Johnson suffered an achilles injury. Jerry has the sounds of the Commanders beating the Giants with a whole lot of FGs. Hour 3 Here we are again with the NY Giants and the upcoming schedule is not going to help. Will John Mara stick with Schoen and Daboll or are we going to get another regime change? The media and Daboll are already bickering. Boomer said the situation with the kicker yesterday was a ‘freak situation’ and is not Daboll’s fault. But combined with everything that has gone on here the last ten years it doesn’t help. Juan Soto had a walk off single in the 10th for the Yankees win. The Twins cut a minor league catcher because he was tipping pitches so the season would end so they wouldn’t have to go to the playoffs. In the final segment of the hour, Gio was on a show in Nashville called JB and The General. Hour 2 Is Haason Reddick really going to sit out the entire season? Is there anybody that took a year off without injury and came back in peak form? A caller said, Michael Vick. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Bills beating the Dolphins with Tua suffering the concussion. The Yankees beat the Red Sox with a walk off single by Juan Soto and a nice pitching performance by Nestor Cortes and Clay Holmes. Boomer is not being cautious and is all in, but Gio said Boomer got to see the ‘69 Mets and the ‘86 Mets so he has seen them win it all. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Mets beating the Blue Jays and audio from the afternoon show’s excitement with the win. Francisco Lindor hit a HR in the ninth to break up the no hitter. Juan Soto hit a HR in the same at bat he fouled a ball off his foot. Shannon Sharpe said he was embarrassed by the Instagram live that went out with the sounds of him having sex. Deshaun Watson met the media and was asked about the latest lawsuit. Aaron Rodgers called the season a ‘nice, slow Bolero’. In the final segment of the hour, Joe Buck’s wife needed foot surgery after he hit her with a golf ball off the tee. Anthony in Belleville calls in and wants credit for stuff. Hour 2 Boomer was comparing Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert with Brian Daboll and Daniel Jones. Harbaugh was putting the fire into Herbert’s heart, and that’s what Daboll needs to do with Jones. Boomer thinks the relationship between Jones and the Giants was frayed because of the offseason Hard Knocks where he knew they were looking for another quarterback. Gio thinks he’s a hard worker but he’s just not good enough. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Gary Cohen’s call of ‘Linsanity’, after Francisco Lindor hit a HR in the ninth to break up a no-hitter. The Yankees walked off the Royals with a Jazz Chism single in the 11th. Juan Soto fouled a ball off his foot, then hit a HR. Shannon Sharpe accidentally put the sounds of him having sex on Instagram live. Ochocinco commented on this. In the final segment of the hour, a caller wonders how Gio knew that Sam Darnold would play well this year, albeit one game. Hour 3 Nick Bosa talked about playing the Vikings this week compared with the Jets last week and it sounds like he doesn’t think the Jets are very good. There was an open mic at the Raiders facility where a reporter was trashing the team and QB Gardner Minshew. Gio is trying to decide what team to take in the knockout pool this week. A caller is sick of Boomer making excuses for Daniel Jones. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Mets beating the Blue Jays, 6-2. The Mets were no-hit until the ninth. Lindor broke up the no-hitter with a HR and he thanked police and firemen after the game on 9/11. The Yankees beat the Royals in the 11th on a Jazz Chisholm single. Shannon Sharpe came clean as his Instagram live recorded the sounds of him having sex with a woman. Ochocinco was baffled and disappointed (tongue in cheek). Deshaun Watson met the media after yet another allegation from another woman. Boomer thinks he looks miserable. Daniel Jones is not getting caught up with fan reaction. Joe Buck explained what happened on the golf course when his wife wound up with a broken ankle. In the final segment of the hour, there is a Japanese restaurant in NY that does not allow tipping. We took a call from a restaurant owner who has a problem with Al’s complaints about food quality and tipping. Hour 4 Boomer told a story about golfing with Dan Marino years ago where one of the guys in his foursome hit boomer in the testicles with a 200 yard drive. The Shannon Sharpe/Instagram story seems a little fishy as it’s not so easy to just accidentally go live. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Shannon Sharpe saying he is embarrassed for having the sounds of him having sex were on Instagram live. Francisco Lindor hit a HR in the ninth to break up the no-hitter and tie the game that they eventually won. Moment of The Day: ‘They’re eating the pets, right Eddie?’ In the final segment of the show, Jon Bon Jovi talked a woman off a bridge in Nashville. We also talked about the importance of sports right after that and how it brought people together including the Mike Piazza HR. Gio couldn’t believe how some of the Jets fans on air here were so negative, considering how positive they were last season as soon as Rodgers went down. This week they play the Titans and Boomer said they are a better team than people think they are. The Jets are a favorite on the road and that’s because of the QB in Tennessee. They can’t start 0-2. They now play a string of quarterbacks that aren’t great. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with the Mets losing to the Blue Jays as David Peterson had a tough night on the mound. The Yankees also lost as they were shut out by Seth Lugo and the Royals. Benches cleared last night in Philadelphia between the Phillies and Rays. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee and said to come along for the ride but if you jump off now, don’t come back. Joe Benigno was not happy with the defense. Chris Russo said Saleh will be fired if the Jets are 1-4. Carl Banks said LT thought they could have grabbed 22 of the Giants’ legends and played better Sunday. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry asked Eddie about smelly teenagers on the Warm Up Show. Hour 2 Boomer has a gift for Gio and it’s some sort of Vikings hoodie. Boomer wonders if we should give Daniel Jones some slack for coming back from his injury earlier than we thought he would and he’s playing with a bunch of new guys. Gio said he lost the benefit of the doubt because he has been bad for most of his career. Boomer thinks Rodgers and the Jets will bounce back this year and that Rodgers will have a good year. If he doesn’t, Jets fans are not going to like his weekly appearances with McAfee. Gio thinks the Jets negativity is too high considering it’s week 1 and they lost to the defending NFC champions. Jerry is here for an update and starts with the sounds of the Yankees getting shut out by Seth Lugo and the Royals. The Mets also lost to the Blue Jays, 6-2, as David Peterson had a rare bad start. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee and Jerry has the clips. Carl Banks talked about the Giants performance. Jerry Jones talked about money curing any ill feelings during contract negotiations. In the final segment of the hour, there was an odd interaction between Barstool Eddie and Dan Bernstein at The Score in Chicago. Hour 3 Phil Simms joins us and Gio said Phil is very muscular. He’s all jacked up. Phil was at the game along with the other Giants legends and said the Vikings looked better, faster and very well coached. Phil said Daniel Jones was making decisions way too fast. Phil also gave his impressions on Aaron Rodgers’ first full game as the Jets QB. He was disappointed in the offense that they didn’t throw the ball down the field enough. Phil thought Tom Brady did well for his first time doing a game on TV. Jerry returns with an update and starts with Aaron Rodgers on with Pat McAfee talking about the Jets not having the ball for enough time in week 1. The Yankees were shut out by the Royals. The Mets lost to the Blue Jays and are now tied with Atlanta for the final Wild Card spot. Gio said there are a lot of guys in sports talk that don’t want to grow up. Gio said Evan and Sal are still holding tight to their childhood. Boomer did like that Aaron Rodgers stayed in the pocket for the most part. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Kevin Harlan on the call as the Niners had no problem with the Jets last night. Kayvon Thibodeaux was asked about the Giants defense and he wouldn’t answer the question. Brian Daboll was asked about the QB and he’s sticking with Daniel Jones. DeShaun Watson was hit with another lawsuit yesterday. The Yankees and Mets both won while the Jets were losing. And Ed Kranepool passed away. In the final segment of the hour, Netflix dropped a trailer for a new documentary series on Aaron Rodgers. Hour 2 The Jets play the Titans in week 2 with Will Levis at quarterback. They had a really good defense this past week against the Bears. Will Levis threw a boneheaded interception. Terry Bradshaw did not like Caleb Williams’ painted nails. Hour 3 We talked more about the Tyreek Hill audio from the traffic stop. The Drew he was calling for was not his agent, but for the security guy from the Dolphins. The Giants will face the Commanders this week so maybe Daniel Jones can get the team into the endzone. Tyreek Hill was on CNN last night and Jerry has the audio. A Cleveland radio host has had it with callers comparing DeShaun Watson and Baker Mayfield. The Yankees beat the Royals. The Mets beat the Blue Jays and are now a game up on the Braves in the Wild Card standings. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer is doing a fast and Gio said it makes him pass gas in the studio. A psychologist said it’s a ‘red flag’ if you watch true crime to relax. Hour 4 The Jets lost in San Francisco last night but Gio thinks they are going to run off a bunch of wins starting Sunday. Boomer liked that Aaron Rodgers stayed in the pocket for the most part as that’s where he’s most effective. Boomer said the Jets defense has to get turnovers against the Titans. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about the MTV VMA’s which are in Long Island tomorrow night. Gio went through the list of performers to see if we knew any of them. Jerry has audio of Kevin Harlan on the call as the Jets lost in San Francisco. Brian Daboll said Daniel Jones is the starter going forward and they are not bringing in another QB. The Moment of The Day: Boomer reads from his stat pack and Eddie’s drop tells him where to put it. In the final segment of the show, Daniel Jones is starting against the Commanders this week and he’s actually had consistent success against them.
