Today Derek will deal with the first form of fruit of the Holy Spirit, which is love. First of all, love is primary in the Christian faith. It occupies a place of importance that it shares with nothing else. Ultimately, all that really matters in the Christian life, Paul says, is faith expressing itself through love. External ordinances and rituals are of secondary importance. The center of your whole faith is expressed through love

Today Derek tackles the second form of fruit, the fruit of joy. Joy is a beautiful word. When God blesses parents with a beautiful baby girl, a name they might choose for her is "Joy." Altogether, there is something beautiful about joy. However, in order to experience its beauty in our lives, we need to understand the real nature of joy. And, in order to understand that, we must know something about human personality.

The third form of the fruit of the Spirit is the fruit of peace. From the negative point of view, peace implies the absence of conflict. Certainly, there can be no peace where there is conflict. But to end conflict requires reconciliation. It is important to see that. True peace only comes, however, when two who are at opposition have been reconciled. Peace is made possible only through reconciliation.

The fruit of patience includes two distinct, but related aspects of character. These are: steadfastness in enduring troubles and also slowness in avenging wrongs. Without both of these aspects, patience is incomplete. To have true, scriptural patience, you must combine both of these.

The fruit of kindness is the first fruit of the Spirit Derek will speak about today. The essential nature of kindness is treating other people the way we would wish them to treat us. That makes kindness practical, easy to comprehend and, in a certain sense, easy to apply, because we usually know how we would like other people to treat us. In fact, we're very clear about that in our minds.

Today Derek Prince will be talking about the fruit of goodness. To understand this fruit, Derek first looks at the word good itself. One of the most common words in the English language, we have watered down this word by using it very cheaply and carelessly. In Scripture, however, the word denotes excellence, especially moral excellence. And in its strictest use, it applies only to God Himself.

Today Derek will speak about the fruit of faith or faithfulness. There are three types of faith: faith to live by, the gift of faith, and the fruit of faith, which is an aspect of character, something that must be carefully cultivated. In some versions of the Bible this is translated "faith," in others it's translated "faithfulness." These are like the two sides of one coin. On one side is depending-that's faith. On the other side being dependable-that's faithfulness.

Today's fruit of the Spirit Derek is speaking about is the fruit of gentleness. The word in the original Greek can equally well be translated as meekness. Some versions use one word, some the other. We need to bear in mind that gentleness includes meekness and meekness includes gentleness. But meekness is not weakness, as many people think. But, the exact opposite is the true: meekness is the demonstration of strength.

Today's topic covers the last remaining form of spiritual fruit-the fruit of self-control. In some versions of the Bible, the word used is temperance, but that word is over 350 years old. In contemporary English today, "temperance" is often associated with abstinence from alcohol. However, the Greek word includes abstinence in every area of our lives. It not merely prohibits excessive indulgence in alcohol but just as much excessive indulgence in food, that is, gluttony or overeating.

Derek begins this week’s study from Revelation 3 by highlighting the fact that Jesus is speaking. He points out that whoever hears His voice must be the one to open the door for Him. Jesus said that His sheep hear His voice, so those who hear Him knocking are part of His fold. They need to respond with action.

Today Derek looks at ways God speaks to us—whether it comes by the voice of the Holy Spirit, an illumination of Scripture, through other people, or through God’s creation. God is not limited in how He speaks to us, we just need to have our senses tuned to hear Him.

Derek explains just what opening the door means. When you hear Jesus knocking, you must respond in some way. To not respond is to leave the door closed to Him. Derek shares with us how to respond—to receive and open the door for the new birth.

In today’s study Derek looks at the story of Elijah and the widow who was called upon to bake him a cake using all the meal and oil that she had left. As she did so, her provision was miraculously multiplied. In this illustration, we can see that as we give up all we have to the Lord in faith, He will return back to us far more than we had.

Derek closes this week’s study with the assurance that if we have given all we have to the Lord, He will share all that is His with us. We are joint heirs with Jesus, and have the Holy Spirit within us testifying that we are God’s children. As we share in Christ’s sufferings, as well as His glory, we know He will be with us through it all.

The fatherhood of God is the great fact behind the universe. There is a Father who is our God, a Father who created the universe as a Father-as such He has left the imprint of His fatherhood on every aspect of the entire universe.

Three main ministries of Christ are to be associated with fatherhood: those of priest, prophet and king. As a priest, the father represents his family to God-who is representing his family to God in intercession and prayer.

The father's second main responsibility, as prophet for his family, is to represent God to his family. Inevitably a father represents God to his family, whether he intends to or not. He may do it well. He may do it badly. But, almost inevitably, he does it.

The function of a king is to rule or to govern. This requires that the father rule his household on behalf of God. Paul presents the responsibility of fatherhood in 1 Timothy, where he describes the qualifications of an elder.

If a father fails, what happens to his family? Or, suppose that the fathers in a nation fail? What happens to that nation? It will be the decision of the fathers that determines the destiny of the nation. God requires the fathers to turn to the children, then He promises the children will return to their father.

Derek begins a new series entitled “It Cost All He Had.” What a difference it makes when you realize that this earth and this universe are not just a series of accidents, but everything was perceived out of the loving heart of a Father God. Learn how you’re part of His divine, eternal plan conceived in love.

Today, we will gain a greater understanding of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross as Derek examines and explains how Jesus fulfilled prophecies. There was great purpose in everything that happened to Jesus. His sacrifice for us was complete … and completely powerful … to free us from sin and give us eternal life with Him.

Some people don't realize that there is a spiritual world. They think everything begins and ends in this world and there's nothing beyond. But the spiritual world is as real and objective as the physical world. The really important difference between the two worlds is that the physical is temporary and transient; the spiritual is eternal and unchanging.

What is a kinsman-redeemer? Under the law of Moses and in the culture of Israel in the Old Testament, the kinsman-redeemer had two main responsibilities. The first, to avenge a near kinsman if he was murdered; and the second, to marry the widow of a near kinsman if he died. This is what Christ is for us.

Atonement is the work Jesus accomplished through His death on our behalf. The word is made up of three sections: "at," "one," "ment." Atonement is at-one-ment. It restores the sinner to God's favor. It's reconciliation.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the heart of the Christian message. In fact, without the resurrection there is no Christian message. It all revolves around the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is not a philosophy or a theory. It is a fact of history.

The resurrection of Jesus, who was our representative, is the sure seal upon God's offer of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus. It is only the risen Christ, received and confessed by faith, who brings to the sinner pardon, peace, eternal life and victory over sin.

The resurrection was clearly predicted in the Old Testament Scriptures. As well as increasing our understanding of the resurrection, this teaching provides an outstanding example of the amazing accuracy of biblical prophecy.

In today's message, Derek draws aside just a corner of the veil that separates this world from the next and gives us a glimpse into what comes after death. Today, he speaks about the period before Jesus came.

After the death of Jesus, while His body lay in the tomb, His soul descended into Hades and, as a result, certain important and permanent changes took place. The death and resurrection of Jesus was cosmic in its effects. It produced results that affected the entire universe from that time forward.

In the New Testament, the resurrection of righteous believers is always closely associated with the Second Coming of Christ. There are many different prophecies relating to this event; there are also many different interpretations of exactly what is going to take place at the return of Jesus

Today's message takes the resurrection theme one step further. Derek speaks about the new kind of body with which believers will be resurrected, the resurrection body of the righteous.

Today, Derek speaks about the next main event which will follow the resurrection of believers-and that is the Judgment of Believers. That phrase may surprise you. You may not think there will really be a judgment of believers. But indeed there will be! The Scriptures are very clear about that.

There are two main judgments in Scripture-the judgment of believers before the judgment seat of Christ and then the judgment of unbelievers before the Great White Throne. Learn about how these differ one from the other.

If you are to face death with peace, confidence, and with calm assurance, there are four main things Derek would like for you to know. The extraordinary thing is that people go through life knowing full well that they are going to die, and yet never make adequate preparation for that sure event.

Few people are prepared for the death of a loved one. A couple could live together for many years and yet not be prepared when God calls one of them home. That is unrealistic because God is going to take one home. And don't forget: caskets come in all sizes. But, we can face the death of a loved one in victory and it can prove to be yet another evidence of God's love and faithfulness.

Today, Derek begins a new series on the gifts of the Spirit. Any questions you may have about this subject are sure to be answered this week as he teaches line upon line and precept upon precept. You'll not only be thoroughly informed, but you'll also be entirely engaged he shares from his extensive experience and many interesting personal stories this week.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit can logically be divided up into three groups each containing three gifts: three gifts of revelation, three gifts of power, and three vocal gifts. Today Derek speaks about the first of the gifts of revelation, the word of wisdom. Derek brings us to the Scripture to see how this manifestation of the Holy Spirit works in life.

Today we are going to take a dramatic look at how the word of knowledge was used in the New Testament church, and in Derek's own life as well. How important it is for us to honor the gifts God has given us and yield to these gifts in our personal lives.

Derek defines "discerning of spirits" as the ability to recognize, identify and distinguish between various kinds of spirits that confront us. In this connection we need to bear in mind that the Christian ministry is a ministry in the spiritual realm. Ephesians 6:12 says we are not fighting enemies of flesh and blood or persons with bodies, but we are arrayed against an evil spiritual kingdom, spirits of wickedness. So it's essential that we are equipped to handle our spiritual enemies.

Today Derek begins teaching us about the "Power Gifts" as he discusses The Gift of Faith. Lots of information, you'll want to take notes. And lots of illustrations both from the Bible and his own life are used in this comprehensive study on the gifts of the spirit.

Tthe nature of the healing that is spoken about here, Derek tells us, is the healing power of God channeled through the one who ministers the gift into the body of the one who is sick. Healing is directly related to sickness-where there is no sickness, there is no need of healing. So, healing is God's divine, supernatural power, channeled through a human believer, into the body of the one who is sick.

The working of miracles and healings are closely related, yet distinct. Healings may be gradual and in hidden areas of the body. Miracles are normally visible and frequently they are instantaneous. Listen as Derek explains about the working of miracles from Scripture and his own experience.

Today Derek gives some great guidelines and examples from Scripture regarding the gift of prophecy. Have you ever received a prophecy that you knew was from the Lord? Did it, as Derek said, "build up, stir up and cheer you up?"

More often than not, the gift of tongues is shunned and at the very least misunderstood. Why would God give such a gift to the Body of Christ? You can find out today. Lay aside any preconceived ideas and listen as Derek goes through the Scripture line-upon-line to help us understand this gift.

Interpretation of tongues is the ability, supernaturally given by the Holy Spirit, to present in a known language the meaning of something that has previously been given out in an unknown language. The person who brings the interpretation may be the same person who gave the utterance in the unknown tongue or it may be another person. The Scripture leaves room for either possibility.

God's word is alive, energetic, penetrating. That God's Word and God's Spirit, working together, contain in them the total creative power of God. The results God's Word produces in us depends on the way we respond to it.

Derek discusses the first specific result that God's Word will produce in us-that is, faith. Scripture says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The three successive phases: first, God's Word; second, you hear it; and third, as you hear it and receive it, it imparts to you faith.

God's Word in you can produce the greatest miracle that any human being can ever experience-the new birth. Derek explains that God's Word is like a seed received into our hearts. The Holy Spirit brings forth out of that seed a completely new kind of life-imperishable, eternal, divine.

Derek explains how God's Word provides suitable spiritual nourishment for the new life that has been produced in us by the new birth. This nourishment comes in various forms based on the stage of our spiritual development: first, milk for new-born babes; then bread for those who are growing up; finally, solid food, or a complete diet, for those who are mature.

God's Word also provides for your physical body. Through His Word, God offers us healing and health for our physical body. How? Scripture says, that God's Word did three things for the people who cried out to Him. It says He saved them, He healed them, and He delivered them from their destruction.

God's Word is the source of mental illumination. Derek explains how it penetrates our minds like a ray of light and dispels the darkness that has been produced by our alienation from God; and how, just as there is no substitute for light in the physical realm, so there is no substitute for God's Word in the spiritual realm.

Is there a way to lead a pure life in today's world? It often seems almost inevitable that we'll be involved in immorality and various forms of impurity. But the psalmist says that a young person can keep his or her way pure. How? If we follow the principles that are laid down for us in the Word of God.

God's Word is the means by which we can cleanse and sanctify ourselves; that is, to make us holy. God's ultimate purpose goes beyond simply making us pure and separating us from sin. His ultimate purpose is to make us share in His own holiness.

Derek shares in the ways in which God's Word is our mirror. When we look into the Word of God, it shows us not our outward, external features, but what we really are inside. It's our mirror.

In today's message, Derek talks about how God's Word is our judge. Many people don't like to think about judgment, but the fact of the matter is that judgment is a part of God's total dealing with the human race. Furthermore, in the last resort, the final judge is God Himself. This is clearly presented throughout the whole Bible. Someday we will all have to answer to God.

The same covenant that brings us into relationship with God also brings us into relationship with God's people. Thus relationship with God's people also is based on covenant.

There never was a valid covenant without a sacrifice and a sacrifice represents the death of the one who makes the covenant. A person enters into covenant through his own death. This is not merely established in the Old Testament, but carried on into the New.

Entering into covenant with others brings us into a distinctive new lifestyle. In New Testament Greek, the the word koinonia is used to describe this lifestyle. In most English Bibles, this word is translated "fellowship" or "sharing in a common life."

In today's message Derek speaks about the distinctive New Testament ordinance or sacrament that symbolizes and perpetuates a special lifestyle. God's people over the centuries have adopted various names for this: the Eucharist, Communion, the Lord's Supper, or the Breaking of Bread.

Today's topic is such a solemn and serious subject, that Derek brings to you a special word of warning regarding conduct that undermines covenant. God's demands for covenant commitment as the basis for relationship are clearly set forth in Scripture, as Derek will bring to light.

Christianity is primarily a religion of right relationships rather than right doctrines. If our relationships with our fellow human beings are wrong, our relationship with God cannot possibly be right.

The vertical beam of the cross speaks about a personal relationship with God. Derek will explain the only basis on which God will enter into such a relationship with man.

Today Derek speaks about the covenant that God made with Abraham in Genesis chapter 15. This is a most beautiful and detailed picture of how God enters into covenant with man.

Listen today as Derek traces the outworking of God's covenant with Abraham in history, and also in the personal relationship that it produced between God and Abraham.

Using examples from the Old Testament in how God dealt with Israel in the Old Testament, Derek explains that when God redeemed Israel out of Egypt and made a covenant with them, He became their husband. This covenant relationship was as binding as that of a husband and wife, so their subsequent disobedience was referred to by their prophets as adultery.

Derek begins this study by looking at guilt and the remedy for it through the Lamb who carries away our sin. We obtain forgiveness of sin by confessing it and receiving our forgiveness, then walking in the righteousness Christ has provided for us; a righteousness which has never known sin, which has no guilty past, and which has nothing to be ashamed of.

Today Derek looks at shame we experience and how Jesus bore our shame on the cross as He hung there, despising his nakedness. He was put on view for all to see, bearing that shame for all mankind that we may see ours exchanged for His glory and be cleansed and healed.

Beginning in this session Derek looks at rejection, which he terms the deepest wound of the human spirit. It is more than emotions although that is affected; it’s something that goes deeper into the very spirit of a person and can begin even while in the womb before you are born.

Derek continues looking at kinds and causes of rejection such as an orphan might experience, or the break-up of a marriage, or self-rejection. He then looks at the remedy… the cross, where Jesus experienced first rejection from His own people, the Jews, and then from His own Father God, leading to His death of a broken heart.

Derek finishes this study by using the Word to show that through the finished work of Jesus, we are accepted by God into His family. He leads us in a prayer to receive what God has provided; for guilt you are pronounced NOT GUILTY, for shame you have been given His GLORY, and for rejection you have been ACCEPTED. You’re not just tolerated, you’re WELCOME into His presence and all He has.

Today we begin a look at the foundation of Derek’s salvation experience. He speaks of the need for a solid foundation for building a Christian life and then draws from his beginnings of coming to know Jesus. God humorously brought Derek to a place to hear the gospel and then helped him see his need.

Derek continues with his account of seeking for truth to know God. He tells of his decision one night to pray but the inability to, and then how the presence of the Lord came to him and there in the middle of the night his life was totally changed forever by a sovereign move of God.

Derek picks up with the strange laughter that came from his salvation experience and then tells how he was baptized in the Holy Spirit one night and began speaking in tongues. His next adventure in his new life took him to South Africa and then to the deserts of North Africa for more learning in this life of faith.

Today Derek tells about his journey into learning about God’s provision for healing and how it can be obtained through faith in the Word and its promises. He was then transferred to Israel where he met a Danish lady who had an orphanage, and who later became his wife, another adventure.

Derek finishes this week’s study by looking at the prophetic word that he would be a teacher of the Scriptures in truth and faith and love which are in Christ Jesus for many. This became his life’s goal and through the years God brought it to fruition in Derek’s life. He discovered the order was just the way it needed to be, culminating in knowing God’s love and producing it in other people.

Derek begins this theme by expounding on four characteristics of the Christian life that span all age groups: loyalty, friendship, commitment and a desire to succeed. He begins with loyalty, considered as faith. Friendship is next; friends become close personal relationships. Closely related to friendship is commitment, a personal commitment to Jesus Christ. Tomorrow we look at the fourth characteristic: the desire to succeed.

Today we look at the fourth common characteristic of the Christian life and that is the desire to succeed. Derek teaches that everyone, in a sense, has a yearning for success. The key to attaining that success is to do the will of God. The will of God is unshakable, unchanging, eternal and undefeatable. And when you unite your will with the will of God, you become like that will of God: unshakable, unchanging, undefeatable.

Derek relates his own testimony: how he was saved in an army barracks by a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus and the immediate effects that event had on his life. He then tells of how the Lord trained him to take the Word and use it to bring about change—specifically the healing of his body.

Today Derek continues with his experiences in the army as a soldier for Christ. He tells of a night God anointed him to pray for the people of Sudan and the privilege of leading the first of these to Jesus. This is an exciting story of the life of faith Derek had with God.

Derek finishes this week’s message by telling how he led his Sudanese friend, Ali, to Jesus, and the way it impacted everyone at the hospital. He then invites you to commit your life afresh to the Lord, also giving an opportunity for any listener to receive Christ and find this salvation that comes through Him alone.

Biblical names are very significant—they always have meaning. That is particularly true of the names or titles of Jesus. Jesus as the Lamb of God set an example for us to follow. For instance, He committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth. When they hurled insults against Him, Jesus did not retaliate. When He suffered, Jesus made no threats. And, because of humility, Jesus was exalted. This powerful teaching will encourage you that “The way to become a lion is to start as a lamb.”

The title, “the Lion of the tribe of Judah” is given to describe Jesus in the last book of the Bible, the book of Revelation. This indicates to us that not only was Jesus born a Jew, raised and educated as a Jew – but that He will remain a Jew until the end of days.
