    I sit down with Aurah, creator of the Living Mandala of Oz oracle deck, to explore the spiritual system she sees hidden inside The Wizard of Oz.

    If you’re drawn to esoteric symbolism, tarot, chakra work, or the deeper architecture of stories, this conversation may change how you see Oz. Aurah takes me through the path from a childhood fascination to a handcrafted spiritual tool: a fourth-grade project, a master’s thesis in metaphysics, a trip to India, and a rebirth ritual on the spring equinox. Along the way, she explains how her deck connects Oz characters with the chakras, the four yogas, and a personal cosmology shaped by years of study.

    We talk about why Aurah sees the original Wizard of Oz books as rich esoteric texts, how her deck brings together Oz countries, chakras, planetary forces, and “chariots of ascension,” and why she created an oracle system rather than a tarot deck. Aurah also shares how she assigns characters archetypal frequencies, enneagram types, and astrological placements—including to lesser-known figures like the Woozy.

    Our conversation wanders through chosen names, what it means to be “weird,” and the power of ritual to reshape identity. Aurah tells me the incredible story behind her name, how the I Ching has influenced her life, and how one hexagram gave her an instruction that still guides her work.
