Life is often times marked by pain. The Joseph story helps us understand how we can live Gospel centered lives in the midst of a pain filled and unpredictable world.

Part 11 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 38 & 39. We continue to see how God uses sinful choices and bad circumstances to bring about His will and bless His people.

Part 10 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 37:1-36. This introduction to the story of Joseph was preached on Mother's Day 2026. It covers two points: an observation about mothers extracted from the passage and the primary purpose of the story of Joseph.

Part 9 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 35:1-36:43. Our God is the God of generations past, present, and future.

Part 8 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 34:1-31. Shechem does something that gets him killed. Levi and Simeon do something that gets them cursed.

Part 7 of "From Abraham to Joseph." Genesis 32-33. God gives people new names and identities as He changes people from wrestling against Him looking to escape to people who wrestle clinging to Him for eternity.

Part 6 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 29:1-31:55. God can use deception, jealousy, and family dysfunction to bring about His plan.

Part 5 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 28:10-22. Jacob's Dream teaches us things about the connection between heaven and earth and the connection between God and us. It is also an illustration of how heaven must reach down to us rather than us reaching up to it.

Part 4 of "From Abraham to Joseph." Genesis 26:1-28:9. This passage describes  Isaac's family as flawed and fractured, but God can use dysfunctional people to accomplish His redemptive plan.

Part 3 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 25:19-34. In this passage, God prophesied some things ahead of time, and humans made decisions for which they are responsible.

Part 2 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 24:1-67. Abraham was balancing the call to live in the promised land with the importance of his son not marrying a Canaanite. This has implications for ancient Israel and us.

Part 1 of "From Abraham to Joseph."  Genesis 23:1-20 & Ephesians 1:13-14. The cave Sarah was buried in is somewhat like the Holy Spirit. Both of them are inheritances that point to an even greater inheritance to come.

Problem #8: Experience Instead of the Bible. Because everyone is building a life upon some kind of foundation, a proper foundation is needed.

Can Science lead us to a more moral life? The evidence is in, and the Bible has something to say about that...

How It Started: A Smoking Fire Pot and a Flaming Torch (part 14) Genesis 15:1-21 This sermon addresses God as a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch sealing His covenant with Abram who is justified by faith.

How It Started: Bickering - Battling - Blessing (Part 13). Genesis 13 & 14. This sermon addresses that the life of faith is not the same day to day, but the promises of God are.

How It Started: Promise Keeper (part 12). This sermon addresses God keeping His promises to Abram despite Abram's reckless husband leadership and lying ways while in Egypt. Genesis 12:10 - 13:2.

The call of God to Abram is one that would impact the world all the way even to today. This would be a call that sends Abram to a place, for a people, with a specific purpose in mind.

How It Started: The Spreading Out of the Nations (Part 10). This sermon addresses Nimrod and the Tower of Babel as well as the race (not races) of human beings.
