In this episode of Is This Prog? I’m going international with the album Zoolook by French composer Jean-Michel Jarre. Jarre has played some of the biggest concerts in the world on the back of huge hit albums such as Oxygene, Equinoxe or Rendez-Vous. However, his seventh album Zoolook, saw him move away from a more electronic sound to a more organic approach. There aren’t many bands who have had the lasting impact on music that The Beatles had. Most groups hit big for a few years then fade away into nothingness or a shadow of their former selves. Perhaps the only other band who didn’t succumb to this is Queen. But they had a slow start by comparison. Queen 2 was a pivotal album for the band. They found themselves at a musical crossroads, with one path taking them into pure prog territory and the other to being one of the biggest rock bands in the world.
