Hello there and welcome to this Spring Special edition of Is This Prog? In this episode I’m changing things up a little, rather than listen to an album to decide if it’s Prog or not I’m going to give you an overview of an artist I think you’ll like. Specifically, singer-songwriter Nick Drake. Nick had a lot of crossovers with prog bands, often supporting Genesis and working with members of Fairport Convention among others. But he didn’t achieve recognition in his lifetime. Find out why that might be, as well as my thoughts on his albums, in this extended special episode. I’ll be back with more episodes in the summer, so keep those suggestions coming in to revelationstationpodcast@gmail.com as well as letting me know what you think of this episode and the series so far. All original music is copyright the respective artists, in this case Nick Drake and Dream Academy. If you like it please consider streaming or purchasing it. Title music is Theme One by Van Der Graf Generator. Welcome to the final episode of season 1 of Is This Prog? I hope you’ve enjoyed it so far, I am intending to do more later in the year. But, in this episode I’m coming right up to date with an album released in 2022 - Preacher’s Daughter by Ethel Cain. Usually considered to be Folk or Americana, can Ethel Cain’s debut album really be considered prog? Find out by listening to this episode, and don’t forget to let me know what you think, either in the comments below or by emailing revelationstationpodcast@gmail.com. You can also send me your suggestions for albums to cover at the same address. All original music is copyright the respective artists, in this case Ethel Cain. What happens when a synthpop band ditches the electronic instruments and goes full on experimental? That’s what happened in 1988 when Talk Talk released their 4th album Spirit Of Eden. Join me in this episode, when I’ll be delving into the 1980’s and asking the question Is This Prog? All original music is copyright the respective artists, in this case Talk Talk. • 6 - Episode 4: untitled

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends, probably. In this episode of Is This Prog? I’ll be listening to the fourth, untitled album by one of the biggest bands of the 1970’s - Led Zeppelin. Will this album be the fourth in a row to be labelled Prog? Or are there too many blues influences kicking around to justify that? This one’s a tricky one to judge progeteers, so make haste and listen in to find out what I decide. • 5 - Episode 3: Zoolook

In this episode of Is This Prog? I’m going international with the album Zoolook by French composer Jean-Michel Jarre. Jarre has played some of the biggest concerts in the world on the back of huge hit albums such as Oxygene, Equinoxe or Rendez-Vous. However, his seventh album Zoolook, saw him move away from a more electronic sound to a more organic approach. The experiment didn’t pay off commercially or critically, but now you can join me, Mister Monday, and help me decide - Is This Prog? All original music is copyright the respective artists, in this case Queen. If you like it please consider streaming or purchasing it. Title music is Theme One by Van Der Graf Generator.
