An “X” on the calendar, a burning pink candle, and $300 in cash. On May 19th, 2017, 15-year-old Sophie Reeder left her home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was never seen again. Initially Fort Lauderdale Police thought Sophie was just another teenage runaway. But cell phone records tracked Sophie to the home of 37-year-old Leonard “Jay” Jennings. Jennings and his family denied ever knowing Sophie. But that was a lie. Where is Sophie Reeder? Sophie was approximately 5’1” and 100 lbs. at the time of her disappearance, with brown curly hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a brown leopard print coat, a black dress, red Converse sneakers, and white headphones. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for credible information that leads to the recovery of Sophie Reeder. Bernard and Paulette Brom along with two of their four children, 13-year-old Diane and 11-year-old Ricky, had been murdered with an axe. In the spring of 2020, seven-year-old Julissia Batties went for a court ordered weekend visit with her biological mother, 36-year-old, Navasia Jones. She was supposed to return home to her paternal grandmother. But child services enacted a different plan. Julissia was found months later, deceased in her mother's apartment. Initially, both Navasia Jones and Paul Fine Junior, who was Julissia's half-brother were charged in her murder. But charges pressed against one of the defendants were dropped. A barking dog, a father, and a pursuit. In the early morning hours of October 8th, 2024 the Spencer family awoke to find their teenage daughter missing. The girls father, 36-year-old, Aaron Spencer set out to find his daughter. In a matter of minutes he located the girl in a vehicle with 67-year-old Michael Fosler. Before deputies made their way to the scene, one man was dead and the other was charged with second degree murder. An evening walk, a phenotype report, and a public confession. On May 13th, 2016, 25-year-old Chantay Blankinship, went for a walk around her North Lake neighborhood as she did all the time.  But this time Chantay didn’t make it back home. A farmer, a geneticist, and a coroner. On October 2nd, 1976, a farmer and his 12-year-old granddaughter made a grisly discovery. They found the body of a woman in a ditch off Highway 6 in Grundy County. For over 47 years, the victim remained unidentified and known only as the Seneca County Jane Doe. A social club, two more disappearances, and an abandoned five-year-old. Six weeks after Laureen Rahn vanished from her apartment in Manchester, on June 8th of 1980, 25-year-old Denise Daneault disappeared after spending a night out at a social club.  For years investigators didn’t take her disappearance seriously.  What they didn’t know was that another Denise, Denise Beaudin, also vanished from the Manchester area a little over a year after Denise Daneault.  The two women had more than just their name in common, they were both living on Hayward Street.  But unlike Denise Daneault, Denise Beaudin wasn’t reported missing until thirty five years after she disappeared.  Denise Daneault vanished from Manchester, New Hampshire on June 8th, 1980. She was last seen leaving the Merrimack Club at approximately 1:30 am. A barking dog, a father, and a pursuit. In the early morning hours of October 8th, 2024 the Spencer family awoke to find their teenage daughter missing. The girls father, 36-year-old, Aaron Spencer set out to find his daughter. In a matter of minutes he located the girl in a vehicle with 67-year-old Michael Fosler. Before deputies made their way to the scene, one man was dead and the other was charged with first degree murder. Eleven year old Alison Parrott left her upscale Rosedale home on July 25, 1986 to get her picture taken with her winning track and field team. She never returned home and her body was found 2 days later in Kings Mill Park. Fourteen-year-old Anthony Lamar Peterson went missing during the summer of 2005 while visiting family in Palatka, Florida.  Days later, his unrecognizable body was found floating in Deep Creek, just miles from where he was last seen. Vacuum marks, a brightly colored blanket, and Christmas tinsel.  In November of 2007,  68-year-old, Sara Dixon was found shot to death inside her home in Burlington, North Carolina.  From the moment investigators arrived at the home on McCray Road it appeared that the scene had been staged to look like a robbery gone wrong. A mint julep, a distinctive knife, and a real life “potty ranger”.  Father’s Day weekend of 2015, 52-year-old Jose “Pepe” Rey and his wife, Lisette. were out walking their dog in their neighborhood in Kendall, which is a suburb of Miami, Florida.  The couple made plans to have drinks at their neighbor’s house.  Jose walked back home to secure the family dog and make a drink for his wife.  On his way back to the neighbor’s house, he was confronted by 66-year-old, Omar Rodriguez.  An altercation occurred between the two men and Jose Rey was shot three times.
