Thank you for joining me as I embark on "Season 3" of the Self-Esteem Semi-Daily Podcast. I mean semi-daily because its a challenge to keep up with a daily cadence of recordings. I love doing it, but I fall behind. So to be more forgiving of myself, I'll do a recording every few days. I hope you enjoy hearing this one. Take care!

During times like these, a wave of popular support (and rightly so) for the black lives matter movement is washing over us. It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of energy. And in doing so, allow our personal thoughts to get washed in with the mass consciousness. As we develop self-esteem, its important to discern which thoughts "are ours" and which thoughts "are theirs". It's not to discriminate but to discern. When we are more discerning, we can avoid spiritual bypass and a whole realm of ways we resist developing our self-esteem.

What is courage and how is it connected to self-esteem? Today I've added another reading from "The Reflecting Pond" by Liane Cordes, on Courage, and what it means to practice courage. I invite you to listen till the end of this recording. I'm sure you will find a gem that speaks to you.  In these times, courage can mean something different to you, depending on "where you are".  Be present and you may be surprised at what you learn.

As we experience a time in our lives that of full of division, we have a natural instinct to judge what we don't understand.  Our mind begins to label the circumstances, the actors,  and history itself.  However what we are often unable to discriminate is where those "outside" things end, and where "we" begin.  What we don't realize most of the time is that we are exactly that which we have judged. "I AM THAT" is a good phrase to remember when we get on our "high horse" about what we don't like in this world.  

As we build our self-esteem, the more we practice healthy discrimination - the kind that enables us to see the truth without influence the of anger, fear, or scarcity - the more we can see how our thoughts shape the world we experience.

The choice of whether to respond from a place of crying for out help, or a place of offering love and help. The invitation is to reflect on your past actions, and ask the powerful question: was my action a cry for help? Or was my action coming from love?  Allow the answer to determine what you do next.  If you were crying out for help, do yourself favor (and the world around you) and seek help.
