The Luke and Pete Show

Luke’s been reading about early nineteenth-century whaling and is at our service to tell us all about it. We’re talking whale riding, getting stranded on Pacific islands and surprisingly matriarchal societies.

Plus, we’re taking a look at a recently-elected Peruvian mayor with a very colourful name, reminiscing about the days when people used to be able to remember stuff and covering some of the biggest current drama in the podcasting landscape.

Time is a cruel mistress. Luke used to be able to take regular transatlantic flights without batting an eye and now the clocks changing knocks him for six. Pete, meanwhile, is experiencing sleep regression so severe he’s thinking about simply running away.

Perhaps equally jarring a phenomenon is the current state of Radio 6 Music, the home of tunes that even the most catholic of tastes can’t account for. Thank God for 5 Live Premier League commentary. That stuff really is the business.

Pete keeps seeing women who resemble his mum and he thinks he’s figured out how to share this news with the world. Luke’s not sold on his plan.

After some family chat, it’s time for medical chat. Pete’s had some scans (he’s fine) and in a strange way they’ve helped him on the football pitch.

Elsewhere, it’s time to check in on GTA6 and get stuck into some emails. Pumps are the order of the day.

While Pete's been charmed by an Instagram lad’s enthusiasm, Luke’s been bored out of his mind by Wolves vs. Portsmouth. So poor was the spectacle, in fact, that it briefly made him look favourably on live execution – like the one just cancelled in the US.

A Trump mention prompts a discussion about Vivek Ramaswamy, old fashioned fat guy Chris Christie and the continuing weirdness of looksmaxxers.

Plus, we hear all about Pete’s recent trip to Glasgow.

Let’s see in the week by sounding off about Trump’s America, where a man’s execution was maybe going to be livestreamed to the populace. Also up for discussion is the sheer costliness of life in the UK and the country’s refusal to get properly angry about it.

It’s not all bleak, though, because someone’s developed an updated, web-based version of Championship Manager 1997/1998 and Pete says the word “Bugatti” weirdly.

There’s nothing quite like fixing something with your bare hands, as Luke will attest. Boiler 0, Mr Moore 1.

Under the microscope today are topics including football both real and fantasy, the exhausting nature of throwing a punch, Metallica’s weird drum sounds and Luke’s recent trip to the Lake District. Plus, Pete drinks blueberries out of a Minions cup.

Ever broken into the lead singer of Silverchair's house, stolen a skateboard and gone riding down the street beer in hand after the greatest success of your career? We kick things off with one of the best post-game celebration sessions you'll ever see.

Plus, Pete inadvertently gets made to look like a fervent Ed Sheeran supporter while his own story gets corrected by a listener, and we unveil the "best" recipe for prison hooch.

Recent geopolitical events have got Pete wondering whether he could successfully land a plane - any guesses for the response from a technologically capable man riddled with self doubt?

Other topics of bemusement: how aggressively Pete was ripped off at an expensive zoo, the ghost of Edwin Starr and seeing your patients when you're a GP at the bookies. Just another unplanned half an hour of rip-roaring Thursday morning entertainment for you to digest at your leisure.

How does Pete feel about manly embraces with Luke? And what does his hug attitude say about his relationship with commitment? Much to think about.

Once that’s been dealt with, it’s time for a chat about laundry duties, kids’ parties and Luke’s days working shifts in Asda as an intensely hungover 18-year-old. He simply could not keep his hands off that “whoops” gun.

Finally, Pete tells the story of a recent attempted elbowing he suffered on his way home from work. Don’t worry, he’s fine.

The food stays crisp and dry, everyone. Let’s sing about it before your esteemed hosts reflect on how frightening children’s media used to be (and the ubiquity of weird men in said media).

Also on the agenda today: a discussion centring on Tom Skinner’s mental health walks, a crushing Sunday league defeat and Luke’s theory on the origin of various unpleasant right-wing behaviours.

This fine Monday brings with it tales of Luke and Pete’s respective relationships with the devil’s lettuce, as well as a very nasty internet comment about Mr Donaldson’s home. It’s not big and it’s not clever, but we will devote a fair amount of time talking about it.

Elsewhere on today’s show, Pete’s mention of his bum-based insecurity sparks a minor debate about nightwear and Luke makes clear his stance on gambling. He used to bet on raindrops, you know.

We’re kicking off today’s proceedings with a jaunt down a very Scottish memory lane, as Luke and Pete reflect on Dundee’s greatest export: the comics of DC Thomson. Those poor Broons were always getting taken advantage of, bless them.

Plus, Pete’s recent stay in Bath prompts a discussion concerning publishing, audiobooks and, naturally, Elon Musk’s big ol’ chest.

Finally, and most importantly, Luke is a big reader. He reads a lot. Just so we’re absolutely clear about that.

Because Ed Sheeran’s got no moral backbone and all the supporting artists have sacked his tour off, we’re here with unsolicited and unhelpful advice for the big man. No problem mate, always here to help.

Plus: the lunch strategies of middle-aged working men, some deserved Pete praise that leaves him very uncomfortable and one of the most haphazard limo journeys we’ve ever heard.

That’s it, we’ve decided that making fridges is far too easy now. Your favourite LAPS dancers are back to check in with the enshittification of modern life. At least Luke’s been growing ample fauna in his new garden.

We also run roughshod over modern skincare routines, assess cockroach infestation sleeping tactics and hear of some nuclear-grade small talk from Donaldson.

Luke and Pete have got AI on the brain again and this time Anthropic and their public admissions of terrifying stuff are to blame. Chatbots, therapy from a computer, the end of civilisation – we’re getting through it all today.

Plus, it’s time to crunch through a couple of emails. The first concerns a deeply unpleasant act committed in Pete’s own Leigh-on-Sea. The second? Stinky men who are stinky on purpose. Enjoy.

We open proceedings with Mr Pete Donaldson telling his good friend Luke E. Moore about his trip to Poland, during which a woman was rude to him. Did he have an indie weekend? Listen to find out.

Elsewhere on today’s show, we hear about Pete’s plan to become an air-based digital nomad, Luke talks about his recently acquired diatomaceous earth powder and the good (bad) people of Reddit make their feelings known. Pete swears he doesn’t care what they think.

We kick off today’s show with a question of vital importance. What would be the most embarrassing song to be found listening to when you died? Luke and Pete name their picks.

Speaking of music, a certain big name actor has just released an album with a highly-respected hip-hop supergroup and Luke’s got some thoughts on the matter. He also tells a lovely tale concerning a nerd and a far-flung phone booth.

Finally, we’re talking AI again and there’s a hot take in the offing.

It’s been a while since Luke and Pete chewed the fat, so naturally a run-down on Pete’s health is in order. How are the lungs? Is he off the caffeine? What news from disease deadline day?

On a wholly different note, Luke relays the tale of his trip to the boxing at the O2, which perhaps unsurprisingly featured a small man being thrown out of a drinking establishment for bad behaviour.

Finally, Jack White is successfully recreating the good ol' days and Pete Hegseth continues to embarrass himself.

We’re going big on broadcasting on today’s episode, as Luke permits himself a bit of own-horn tooting vis-à-vis his versatility as a broadcaster and Pete gets asked about the best presenters he’s ever worked with. Mr Donaldson also recounts a shocking tale of radio betrayal.

Elsewhere, Luke gets made a disgusting cup of tea, we learn more about Austrian hotdogs and there’s a sensational listener story about a limo to get stuck into.

Football’s back, baby. Luke’s focus right now, though, is less on the games themselves and more on his anthropological fascination with the group dynamics found among young blokes heading to and at the match. A chat ensues about this sort of “cosplaying” more generally.

Plus, there’s an eclipse to discuss and Pete’s been to some local wasteland to get a hard drive off a boy. No other way of putting that, really.

Being a parent to a small child is fraught with challenges, whether it be an unexpected early morning height-mogging by a tall dad or having to endure the dreadful, flustered driving of other parents as they take their own kids to and from nursery.

On today’s show, Luke and Pete exchange these stories before moving on to subjects such as white guys with dreadlocks, drab contemporary political satire and the new Ricky Gervais vehicle “Alley Cats”. The lads aren’t quite in agreement regarding its merits (or lack thereof).

Pete’s feeling the siren call of a tiny pressure cooker and Luke’s wondering why John Terry would bother ringing in to TalkSport to defend his footballing legacy.

On a different note entirely, the American contingent of Luke’s family has been to visit. Maybe big Sainsbury’s is as exciting to them as L.L.Bean is to us? That said, you can’t buy canoes and firearms at Sainsbury’s.

Finally, it’s time for more listener correspondence. It looks like it's battery time.

Pete recently spent half a monkey on a hotel and went to see some atrocious stand-up. Luke’s reminded of the time he saw Van Morrison completely phone it in on stage. Also up for discussion today is the business of footballers’ eye-watering car insurance and Luke’s reservations about the expertise of vets.

After that, it’s time to rattle through a veritable raft of emails, including one concerning the messy clean-up of a deceased and beached whale.

The UK is experiencing its millionth heatwave of the summer and the world is on fire but at least a lot of shareholder value is being generated.

On today’s show, Pete regales us with stories from a day out in London which took him to the Tate Modern and into contact with the work of an avant-garde Guatemalan artist. He just couldn’t take his eyes off one particular installation.

Plus, Gary Vee’s acting weirder than ever and Bob Dylan is incomprehensible at his present-day gigs.

A hankering for fish on a stick can take you to strange places, as Pete recently discovered. It’s a bleak tale, but at least he’s not turning blue like that bloke who kept drinking silver.

Pete’s got a vest on and isn’t sure he’s a large enough man to carry it off. The ever-supportive Luke disagrees.

Bizarre stories abound on today’s show as Luke recollects when a load of covert overseas Chinese “police stations” were found in the UK and Pete details a data encoding furore from the 1990s. Plus, we learn what both the guys’ outrageous scientific claim would be to make a quick buck and disappear before the ruse was discovered.

Finally, it’s email time yet again and there’s a lovely prom van to have a gander at.

Buckle up, everyone, it’s learning time and we’re getting to the bottom of some mysteries. Why don’t animals have green fur? Why does Luke respect Pete as a broadcaster? You’re about to find out the answers to both.

Plus, Luke details his heated phone call to Thames Water, Pete’s knees are shot to bits and we have a new history book of the week.

It’s a tech-heavy one today. Luke’s suckling on the teet of Apple’s Tim Cook, Pete’s bought yet another esoteric Chinese phone and together the guys have devised a breakthrough sleep-monitoring application. Stop moaning, user, you’ve had a great night’s kip.

Elsewhere on yet another toasty Monday show: Pete’s been flouting the no-eating laws of the studio, Luke’s knackered from throwing his son about and robots have started beating each other up for human’s enjoyment.

Luke reckons Jude Bellingham’s handsomeness is going underreported, Pete’s got iTunes on the brain and Mitch McConnell is having to prove he’s still alive. And that’s just the first five minutes of today’s show.

Elsewhere, Luke’s just watched some good vox pops and Pete has a disgusting idea for a get-rich-quick scheme.

Finally, we’ve got listener correspondence concerning batteries, melons and (potentially false) childhood memories.

Once that’s squared away, Luke and Pete get down to the business of boozer etiquette and methodologies for sorting the true pubsmen from the pretenders.

Prompted by the subject of air fryers, Luke reflects on the tension between his working-class and middle-class self and encourages Pete to do the same. Naturally, this leads to some chat about prom cars (and prom tractors).

On another sweltering day in the UK, Luke and Pete’s weather and air conditioning chat prompts a wider discussion about two-tier systems for the have and have-nots in society more generally, plus some tales of burglary.

Elsewhere, we return to the subject of war to learn about the most bonkers soldier ever and American Civil War pensions. Finally, it’s listener correspondence time once again. Pete’s been put in an improved barrel, and ants are being destroyed in vast quantities.

After a quick Mick Jagger impression, Pete struggles to remember the name of 2026’s 'it girl' and Luke is forced to come to terms with the fact that cultural life is passing him by. He hasn’t even heard of the meme featured on Pete’s new T-shirt.

Pete finds himself outnumbered in his fight against the accusation that he’s a point-scorer and Luke takes the opportunity to explain his lateness to the second Football Ramble World Cup Watch Party. Conversation then turns (inevitably) to smelly capsule hotels and submarine warfare.

Finally, it’s time for a battery offering, an email about advanced tyre technology and news of an Australian mouse plague.

Luke recently enlisted Anthropic’s Claude to draw him a picture and the result was truly awful. He freely admits he’s a man out of time and doesn’t know how to use this stuff.

Luke’s advising Pete to proceed with caution vis à vis chlorinating his own paddling pool, but Mr Donaldson insists it’s all under control. It’s the rubble and cement-based tasks you have to worry about.

In other news, Luke’s attempt to support the local produce market left him sorely disappointed and Pete may well have fallen victim to a Del Boy style scam over some posh honey.

Plus, we hear all about the first Football Ramble World Cup Watch Party from the perspective of the man in the papier-mâché Richard Keys head.

Pete’s been working on a number for a musical about the life and times of Richard Keys, probably not coming to a theatre near you any time soon.

But don’t be disheartened, because today’s episode provides some big questions to entertain and delight. Why don’t little boys wear barrels anymore? Can clogs actually be comfortable? Is being 45 minutes late better than being 5 minutes late?

Finally, we’re back on conspiracy theories and this time there’s a graph to help us make sense of things.

Pete’s come down with a wicked case of World Cup Fever, exacerbated by the rediscovery of his ceremonial Kevin Keegan rug that will surely have a part to play in this year’s tournament. Just keep it away from electronics.

Luke, meanwhile, has been to see Boyzone deliver two hours of consummate professionalism at the Emirates. Also present was Brian McFadden who, as Pete knows first-hand, is an excellent surrogate father.

Normal people are being price-gouged for paddling pools while conspiracy theorists insist that sun cream is population control. Summer is well and truly here.

Meanwhile, the White House is tweeting about the anniversary of a gorilla’s untimely death and appears to be attaching itself to obscure Scottish electronic music. It begs the question: do right-wingers understand art?

After that debate, it’s time for emails. No, we are NOT off to Mars.

And, in exciting news, Luke’s been in Pete’s neck of the woods to play some golf with a certain Big Man. The course’s proximity to Southend airport prompts some aviation chat. Shoutout to British Airways and their exemplary safety record.

Luke’s been on the health supplements and Pete’s feeling gassy on account of his mānuka honey and apple cider vinegar consumption. Maybe that’s why he reckons his stink would save him from nineteenth-century naval press-ganging.

Elsewhere, conversation turns to Luke’s new house and the adjustments needed, but not before Pete shares a truly horrendous nugget of information (?) about the bums of terrorists.

On a cheerier note, Luke’s been to a musical about Céline Dion followed by afternoon tea at the Ritz. Get your jackets on.

In other news, Sabastian Sawe recently became the first person to run a sub-two hour marathon in race conditions and even Pete is impressed. Luke’s on hand to explain exactly how fast that is.

Pete’s DIY mission continues and it’s all getting a bit treacherous. He’s discovered some mould and keeps getting electric shocks off his drill. And, to add insult to injury, he’s discovered his old school reports. Luke’s reports, on the other hand, tended not to make it to their destination.

Plus, we’ve got plenty of listener correspondence and a story about Mr Bruce Springsteen.

Today, a trip down memory lane is in order as Luke and Pete reminisce about the incredibly hard video games of the past and the ways in which you used to be able to just get away with stuff. Luke had a few tricks up his sleeve in New Zealand.

Finally, there’s a battery and some train stations to have a look at.

Hello and welcome back to what feels like a podcast at the end of the world. Put it this way, Pete is desperate to know where he can secure regular asthma medication from as we edge ever closer to the abyss.

In the meantime, the lads still find time to talk about purchasing paint, why you shouldn't urinate in the sink, and Axl Rose's performing habits. There's also adverts for soup, a very welcome New Year's appearance from Battery Robot, and the question on everyone's lips - will Luke and Pete invade Greenland?

Looking back on it, how weird was Covid? Luke and Pete share some of their oddest memories of a strange time, before going on to chat about potential new pandemics, executions and the story of pellagra in the Deep South.

After that, they open up the email pipes and hear your stories about wallabies in the Midlands, guide dogs failing their training and a food poisoning story with a twist. To get involved yourself, it's hello@lukeandpeteshow.com

The Luke and Pete Show is back for another year, and what better way to start 2026 than to have a deep and fairly involved conversation about paté? And when does a paté become a parfait? And when does it become a terrine?

Elsewhere, Pete needs a new fridge, the lads run the rule over Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl, and there's plenty of other chat besides. Oh, and are we starting off the year with a brand new player into the Battery Daddy? Tune in to find out...

Pete's beef wellington didn't quite go to plan on Christmas Day, due to some promises made by a butcher that simply weren't kept. But did he let that setback deter him? Tune in to find out.

Elsewhere, there's some sizable kebab shop chat, Pete has been wrestling with His Majesty's Revenue and Customs again, and the boys hear from a listener who developed food poisoning in one of the most impressive locations on Earth. Oh, and Luke's put his house on the market - first port of call? Bothering the property photographer with annoying questions about photoshop and shutter speeds...

Merry Christmas everyone! Luke and Pete muster on Christmas Day to deliver you a festive, bumper edition of the Luke and Pete Show, because they know it's what you all asked for from Santa...

This time around there's chat about Jake Paul's broken jaw (truly a Christmas present for everyone, that), a truly bizarre claim from the husband of an ex-Blue Peter presenter, some server chat from Pete because it's his Christmas as well, and then Luke wraps things up by playing "What's Pete doing at this time on Christmas Day?" (Hint: it mostly involves farts).

Merry Christmas everyone! Enjoy the festive season!

Pete has been hanging out with one of the world's most famous bears, and do you know what? He bloody enjoyed it. But the feel-good chat doesn't last very long, and before they know it the lads are taking in their listeners' best food poisoning stories.

Elsewhere, there's raccoons. Or rather, one particular raccoon that keeps escaping...

Welcome back to a new episode of the Luke and Pete Show! As we build up towards Christmas, the lads talk presents, including a very thoughtful gift Pete has been working on. Ah, bless. Unfortunately he reverts to type fairly shortly after that after his gastric problems come back and he finds himself stranded in London with nowhere to go.

Luke and Pete also find time to hear from an American that enjoyed a strange experience upon visiting Camden, and there's one or two carpet anecdotes as well. What more do you need?

How is Pete preparing his turkey for Christmas dinner this year? By sticking it in the freezer, of course. Pray for his guests, particularly when it sounds like the rest of the day's food is going to be cooked in his airfryer.

Elsewhere, and as the title suggests, the lads discuss several tales of food poisoning (unrelated to Pete's cooking, it has to be said), there's a good trip down memory lane discussing old video games and, for some reason, Pete attempted to close out the episode by speaking some Welsh.

Pete's been out on the lash again, and you simply will not believe his drunken food of choice. Honestly, you could have a thousand guesses and you'd never get it.

In other news this week, Luke is really hitting all the major milestones of middle age by taking up golf, there's some impassioned follow ups from listeners in our great airfryer debate, and the lads also reminisce about time they've spent in Istanbul. Christmas is coming and so the inevitable Pete Donaldson/Luke Moore airfryer debate simply must rear its ugly head. Can Pete honestly be planning to cook his family's Christmas lunch in such a contraption? One can only speculate at this early stage.

We are also blessed this time around with plenty of big toe chat, a mysterious advent calendar-themed email, and some truly excellent travel tips for those attending The O2. As ever, it's a smorgasbord of conversational topics, none of which are important but all of which are in their own way nevertheless absolutely vital. Tune in and subscribe!

Welcome back to your all-new edition of The Luke and Pete Show! This time around, the lads start, as all great podcasts do, with chat about the seminal PC game Lemmings 2: The Two Tribes. Was exposure to it as a young man responsible for Luke's anxiety in adulthood? Seriously, it was a *really* stressful game.

There's also time to really run the rule over Noel Edmonds and his blatant writing of the Noel's House Party Wikipedia page, the Paul Daniels vehicle Every Second Counts, and plenty of other nonsense besides, including your battery submissions of course.

Has Christmas started even earlier this year? If so, why? And what's the attraction of adult lego?

Just two of the questions that the Luke and the Pete attempt to answer on this episode, the inaugural missive of December. And while we're on the subject of the festive period now the final month of the year is upon us, one of our listeners gets in touch to recommend a Christmas reading of the 9/11 Commision Report, and do you know what, Luke might just give it a bash.

Yes indeed, as the title suggests, Peter has been to the historic city of Leicester, home of his alma mater the iconic De Montfort University, to have a legendary night on the sauce with some old pals. "But where did he go? What hostelries did he patronise?" we hear you ask! Er, it was basically just O'Neill's. Did he have a brilliant time though? Tune in to find out.

Elsewhere, the lads marvel at the terminology and behaviour of self-described Pick Up Artists, there's incredulity at the range of spirits available to purchase in Aldi, and Battery Robot of course pops in to say hello and get a feed.

What has Pete been up to this week? Now there's a question to strike fear into the heart of men, but worry not! Because the answer basically extends to him cleaning some windows, going to see some stand up comedy for charity and typing some quite unusual things inton ChatGPT.

Also on today's episode, the lads also talk about the dot com boom, run the rule over their favourite type of labourer bigger boys, and then hear from a listener who's family member has been doing some truly demented things with food leftovers.
