Both women in this episode experienced something in their homes that wouldn’t fully make sense until much later. After years of unexplained activity in her childhood home, Brooke uses a Ouija board to try to communicate with whatever was haunting their home. She makes contact with someone calling himself Billy, who shares details about his identity and how he died. Later, Brooke would come across information that appeared to confirm what Billy had told them. When Savannah moves into a historic Hollywood apartment, she finds herself afraid of her bathroom for reasons she can’t explain. The feeling becomes so intense that she eventually refuses to enter the bathroom altogether. Months later, an unexplained experience with a friend validates the fear she’d had from the beginning. It isn’t until they’re preparing to move out that Savannah finally looks into the apartment’s history and discovers what once happened inside that bathroom. While out hunting in Dansville, Michigan, Josh finds the perfect spot to settle in and wait for deer. In this episode, we hear the stories of two women who share a very specific experience - the feeling of knowing someone before they had any logical way of knowing them. First, we hear Brooke’s story. As a kid, Brooke received a Ouija board as a gift, and during her first and only session with it, it spelled out a full name that she didn’t really think much of at the time. But years later, while digging into her family history, she found that same name again, and discovered their connection ran much deeper than she expected. Then, we’ll hear Emily’s story. Last year, Emily had to have major surgery. While she was coming out of anesthesia, still in that in-between state before she was conscious, she felt a loving presence and saw the face of a person she somehow recognized. She even knew their name, despite having no memory of ever meeting this person. And when she fully came to, she was stunned to find that same person standing in the room with her. James and a friend were walking through the woods near their home in Thundersley, Essex, when they encountered a strange child in tattered Victorian clothing, peering at them from behind a tree. For years it was just a creepy story they’d tell at parties. But then, James found a book about Essex hauntings that revealed the dark history of those woods and made them rethink who they'd seen that night. Then, we hear from Marque, a volunteer at the notoriously haunted Rhode Center for the Arts in Kenosha, Wisconsin. One night, he entered the basement looking for a prop but found something else instead: a shadow figure standing in the doorway, blocking his way out. When a friend later asked what he'd do if it followed him home, Marque laughed and said that he wished it would. That wish was granted. Mitaya grew up on a vast stretch of land in Jasper, Georgia, at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. During her fall break from school, she broke her arm, leaving her with little to do but spend long stretches of time alone outside. Over the course of that week, she began noticing strange phenomena in the sky. On the final night of her break, she was woken up by two bright lights outside her bedroom window. She tried to ignore them and go back to sleep, but what happened next is something she still can’t explain to this day. Rick and Sheri’s home in the Mojave desert was a peaceful place, until the day a stray dog appeared on the property. They took him in and named him Buddy. Buddy was a source of warmth and companionship, though his arrival seemed to stir something within the house. Two women. Two road trips. Two unexplainable detours. This week we hear Maria’s story and Michele’s story - their stories are very similar in some ways, but take wildly different turns. First, we hear Maria’s story. In 2007, she and her four siblings were driving home to Georgia after their uncle’s funeral in Florida. They stopped at a gas station just past Tifton, Georgia to use the restroom, but something felt off. Their unease quickly turned into fear, and they rushed back to the car. Fifteen minutes down the road, they found themselves impossibly right back where they started. Next is Michele’s story. In 1986, she and 2 friends were making the drive back to Long Island after a trip to SUNY University in Cortland, Upstate New York. While driving the highway lined with nothing but apple orchards, their car got a flat tire. They expected a long walk back to the last exit, but instead, they stumbled upon a town they don’t remember passing. The town looks straight out of a Hallmark movie, and the residents are unusually charming and kind. Only later do they realize just how strange and inexplicable the experience truly was. Two women. Alix has a familial gift of seeing ghosts - her grandma’s house was full of them. Her earliest memories involve playing with the 2 ghost children that lived inside grandma’s walls. While on a girls spa trip in Linthwaite, UK, Jordan is the first one awake. She lies on the couch and feels a tickle on her arm. She turns around to find a Gollum-like creature peering at her over the couch. The following months are filled with mischievous occurrences - misplaced belongings, unplugged electronics, and objects being thrown at her. While gathered around the television watching The Twilight Zone one night in the 1970s, Sheila’s father is particularly alarmed by the monster featured in the episode. He tells her and her siblings that he saw that exact monster while on patrol as a police officer years prior. Kari Tello tells us her stories. She shares several stories that took place in her childhood home. Then, on a mission trip in New Zealand in her early 20s, she and her roommates are taunted by a demonic entity in the house they’re staying in. After hearing animalistic breathing while she’s trying to fall asleep, Kari begins to silently pray for protection. Her sleeping roommate then begins to repeat Kari’s prayers out loud, as she thinks them, until Kari falls asleep. David Robert Pollock tells us his story. While working as a mailman’s assistant, he’s given a strange pile of mail to deliver to a building in downtown Los Angeles. Upon arrival, he’s taken aback by the elegant ambiance and well-dressed staff and clientele.
