- 536 - The World's Deadliest Snake Had a Sniff of His Boot
Part four with John Rayner is the ranger years, and it opens with how he got there: taking the pay cut from mining money to a National Parks traineeship, moving down to Barmah on the Murray with his now fiancee Jessie after four months together, and walking into an Echuca bottle shop to tell the manager he'd work that night for free and be given a job by close. Advice to the young fellas, that's how it's done. The bottle shop yarns from houseboat party season are worth the listen on their own.
Then it's into the good stuff. Learning tree felling from the old forestry boys and dropping burning giants on fire jobs, cultural heritage lessons from the local mobs, ring trees and sacred country from the Murray to The Rock at Wagga, then landing the dream posting at Diamantina National Park, seven hours from Longreach, seven from Mount Isa, halfway pub and nothing else. Out there he watched floods to rival 1974 rip hundred year old trees out of the ground, met a bloke driving a camel wagon from north of Alice to Taree with chooks hanging off the side, had a plane club land uninvited and drink the social club's grog, and waged war on a dirty old cow that learnt to hold the floodgates open and let the whole herd into the only springs on earth where one tiny fish exists.
And the title moment: filming an inland taipan during bilby surveys, the world's deadliest snake, one bite and you're gone, and it wandered over, had a sniff of his boot and kept going, looking for mice. His boss called him an idiot. Johnny agrees. Knuckles also drops a proper true Middleton pub yarn of his own about how close his old man came to owning the loneliest pub in Queensland.

Thu, 17 Sep 2026 - 20min - 535 - His Driver's Licence Was a Blonde Wig
Part three with John Rayner opens with the maddest scheme of the series. The same cousin from part two, now unlicensed and living back at mum and dad's, loses the plot when his mum vacuums a blonde wig out from under his bed and wants to wear it to a 70s party. His explanation: that's me licence. When he drives with the wig on, the cops think he's a woman. Her reply, God bless her, is the best line of the episode: mate, you've got a beard.
From there it's back to the Cudgegong River, hundred pound handlines, loaves of bread and carp as long as a shovel handle, plus a riverbank yarn about that same cousin, a hidden magazine and the clay bank that you'll simply have to hear for yourself, because there's no writing that one down. Then the old quarry at Mudgee: a three storey jump into crystal clear water, rope swings, a track mowed through the Bathurst burr, and a generation that looked after the place until the next lot drove cars through the fences.
The back half turns into something both blokes clearly care about: kids these days aren't allowed to climb a tree, let alone live on a push bike, build bows out of willow, go yabbying or hit the old man's golf balls into the paddock. Johnny's take is that if you've got the skills, fishing, hunting, fixing cars, any of it, passing them on to the kids in your community is your job. That's how you learnt it, so get out there and teach it.

Wed, 16 Sep 2026 - 9min - 534 - He Woke Up With a Steak Knife in His Leg | Proper True Yarn Podcast (Part 2)
Part two with John Rayner is about the cousin he idolised, the bloke he describes as Stifler: smooth as anything, great with women, would pump you up one on one and shit on you the second there was an audience. The same bloke who once woke a sleeping Johnny up by putting a steak knife in his leg.
The yarns get wilder from there. The tin dropped in the car park on the way to the Mudgee food festival, a carton of rum throwdowns, and the night of hazing that ended with 15 year old Johnny passed out on the grass with a ring of fire lit around him and a blue heeler digging its toy out of his pants. That was the night he swore off drugs for good, and looking back, he reckons it was the moment that changed his life, even if it took him years longer to walk away from the bloke behind it.
Then Knuckles shares one he's maybe never told before, about his own idolised cousin, a Queensland swimmer and Australian judo talent who went off the rails, and what happened when that cousin turned up at his 21st after ten years. The ep lands on the advice both of them wish they'd had as young fellas: if you've got that person in your life, you don't have to burn bridges, just move away.

Sun, 13 Sep 2026 - 8min - 533 - The Army Knocked Him Back for Being a Psychopath
Fresh out of the Proper True Yarn fight camp, John Rayner sits down with Knuckles ahead of the seven man royale at Podcast Royale 3.0, and he's not there to make friends. No gym, no weight set, no boxing gloves. Johnny's training farm strong, throwing 44 gallon drums and tyres around and belting the bag in riggers, and reckons the city pricks on the card are in for a rude shock. There's respect for the legend Benny, but as Johnny says, no more sympathy votes. Whoever fights the best gets the win.
Then the yarns start. Growing up in Mudgee when it was still a small country town, the unspoken deal where the league boys did the fighting during union season and vice versa, and punching their way to a famous schoolboy rugby title against one of the biggest schools in the state. Later came the Woolpack in its days as the most violent pub in Australia, and the army application where he passed everything with flying colours until the psych test, where a contractor heard how many fights he'd been in, told him getting smacked as a kid was domestic abuse he should sue over, and marked him down as a psychopath.
From there it was industrial tiling in the mines and a proper welcome to manhood alongside wiry blokes with man strength, 18 hour shifts, poly welding out in the bush, then giving up two and a half grand a week for a $750 national parks traineeship he's never regretted. Twelve years on he's still a parks man, and part two digs into the national park yarns.

Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 10min - 532 - Michael Crossland on the Surgery He Told His Kids Was a Work Trip
The final chapter with Michael Crossland, and it opens with the scan that changed everything. Three years ago, busy again and skipping his checkups, Michael lay on a table while a trainee sonographer casually counted out loud: there's one there, another one, two more down there. He hadn't been told about any of them. Six more tumours in his throat, on top of the one from 2016, and a doctor once again telling him his tomorrows weren't guaranteed.
What he did next is the hardest part of this episode. He didn't tell his mum. He didn't tell his kids. His wife Mel played it cool while hurting more than anyone, and Michael kissed his babies goodbye at the airport having told them daddy was going away for some talks, knowing he might never hold them again. He told the surgeon he didn't care if he never spoke another word on stage, as long as he came home with nothing left in his throat. They took out all seven tumours plus a skin cancer they found on his shoulder mid surgery, and Michael walked out of that hospital completely cancer free.
The episode rounds out with news of the movie being made about his life, with producers attached and a Hollywood dream on the cards, Michael's answer on which actor should play him (his wife has a strong opinion involving a Hemsworth), and the most inspiring person he's ever shared a stage with. Not Branson, not the big names. His mum. If you've missed the earlier parts, go back to the start, because this series is something special.

Sun, 06 Sep 2026 - 18min - 531 - Begging God to Take Everything but My Baby Boy
The full circle moments in this one are hard to believe. Ten days before the birth, Michael had reluctantly done a fundraiser for the Miracle Babies Foundation, a charity he’d never heard of. When he collapsed on the floor of level three, the woman who picked him up was the foundation’s CEO, and she told him everything was going to be okay. Then the man who spent four years of his childhood at Ronald McDonald House found himself living there again 30 years later with his own sick little boy. When sepsis hit and doctors said making it to the end of the week would be a miracle, Michael begged: take my house, my money, my career, everything I own, but please don’t take my little boy.
Five days later, his boy smiled. A Channel 9 interview and one cheeky question later, Michael raised $50,000 for recliners and medical fridges for the NICU before his cab made it back to the hospital. His son has since travelled the world with him, a healthy baby girl arrived in 2021, and Michael now has two little humans running around with his heart in their bodies. As Knuckles says, they could sit there all day.

Thu, 03 Sep 2026 - 10min - 530 - Michael Crossland on the Four Tumours He Hid From His Mum
Part four with Michael Crossland starts with the promise kept. Years after losing his mum’s money in the GFC, he bought her a beautiful little home and put a pink ribbon on the door, told her he’d rented it for 12 months, then told her the truth: it was hers. No, he wasn’t rich. The bank lent him the money and he pays the mortgage every week.
Four weeks before he finally got his scans done, a surgeon speaking at the same health forum pulled him aside and said something didn’t look right about his throat. Four tumours. Your tomorrows aren’t guaranteed. And when his mum rang the second he walked out of that appointment, Michael got to use her exact words, 20 years later: the doctor told me everything’s going to be okay. He finally got the chance to carry the burden for her.
Then he postponed the surgery. If he was going to die, the book had to be finished so his wife and his mum were looked after. That book is now a bestseller in six countries with hundreds of thousands of dollars donated to charity. Surgeons removed three of the four tumours, but the fourth was wrapped around his vocal cord, the very thing that puts food on his family’s table. And just when you think that’s the story, he ends the episode with one line about finally walking in his mum’s shoes that sets up the biggest episode yet.

Tue, 01 Sep 2026 - 10min - 529 - Michael Crossland on Losing His Mum’s Life Savings Six Weeks Before the GFC
Then came the part he calls one of the hardest of his story. When his parents separated, Michael invested his mum’s share of the settlement in a high risk portfolio to try and buy her a home. Six weeks later the global financial crisis hit and he lost everything she had, the money of the one person who’d sacrificed her whole life for his. What followed was rock bottom at a caravan park, bacterial meningitis, fluid on the brain and Bell’s palsy, learning to walk and talk again, and the darkest stretch of his life, with his wife refusing to leave his side.
Out of it came his why. Michael and his wife went to Haiti after the earthquake, rebuilt a school that now teaches 270 kids, and met an eight year old boy eating out of a bin who’d lost his whole family. Michael rebuilt his orphanage from the ground up, became a father figure to 44 kids, and that little boy has just graduated engineering with honours in the top 10 per cent of university students in the world. And as Knuckles says, we’re not even halfway through this story.

Sun, 30 Aug 2026 - 16min - 528 - "Hope you die" inside a get well card
Part two with Michael Crossland picks up where the trial drug left off. The doctors said he'd never go to school, never play sport, and if he reached his teenage years it'd be a miracle. His mum told him everything was going to be okay and sent him to school anyway.
School turned out harder than hospital. No hair, no eyelashes, bandages over the burns, a nebuliser at every recess, and not a single day he didn't cop it from the other kids. Then, laid up after his first heart attack at just 12 years old, a get well card arrived from his class. Buried in the nice messages were four words he can still see clearly today: hope you die, Steve. What that card taught him about whose words get to weigh you down, and what's really in your cup when life bumps you, became the foundation of everything he now shares on stage.
From a 22 student primary school to a 1200 student high school, from being told he'd never play sport again to making the under 16 Australian baseball team two years later, Michael ends up on a full ride scholarship in Texas at 17, telling American girls his cancer scar came off a crocodile's tail. Six months in, he slid into second base, woke up in hospital, and at 18 it was all over. And as he says, that's only the start of it.

Fri, 28 Aug 2026 - 15min - 527 - Surviving the Drug That Killed the Other 24 Kids With Michael Crossland
This week Knuckles sits down with Michael Crossland, one of Australia’s most in demand inspirational speakers, who made the trip up from Coffs Harbour to share the parts of his story he never tells on stage. Fair warning, Knuckles was in tears two minutes in, and this is only part one.
Diagnosed at 11 months old with stage four neuroblastoma and sent home with a 96 per cent death rate, Michael’s life was shaped by his mum’s decision to see it as 4 per cent full instead of 96 per cent empty. Chemo started on his first birthday. Then came the 11 hour train rides between Sydney and Coffs Harbour, an 11 kilo tumour wrapped around his heart, and his mum carrying him into surgery because the doctors told her it might be the last time she held her little boy alive.
When the treatment stopped working, the family signed onto an experimental drug being trialled on 25 kids around the world. Within a day they were all in the burns unit, wrapped in bandages and laid in ice baths, burning from the outside in. Within 90 days, 24 of the 25 were gone. Michael was the only survivor, and he’ll tell you he’s one of the lucky ones, not because he lived, but because he wasn’t his mum.

Tue, 25 Aug 2026 - 11min - 526 - Zak Palmas on Burning Down His Dad’s Favourite Tractor, Lawnmower DUIs & Growing Up in Ingham
The tables get turned this week as Knuckles puts Zak Palmas, the man behind the cam, in front of it for some proper true yarns from growing up on a cane farm outside Ingham, North Queensland.
First up, the story of two 16 year old mates who couldn’t find a car to get from a bush doof into town, so they took a lawnmower instead. Twenty minutes of road, a pair of L plates, and a phone call to the cops later, both of them were done for drink driving and ended up on the news.
Then the big one. Zak was slashing water furrows in the dry season when a worn slip clutch threw sparks into a trash-covered paddock, and by the time he noticed, the tractor wheels were already hot. What follows is a flat-out sprint, a one-man water tanker hookup that should’ve been impossible, and every farmer in the district turning up unasked to cut breaks and save the uncut cane. His dad’s favourite tractor didn’t make it, but as the boys say, you can get another tractor, you can’t get another life.

Thu, 20 Aug 2026 - 9min - 525 - Four Hours, No Toilet, And Everyone's On The Piss | FIFO Flight Yarns
A 22 seater fixed wing, four hours, no toilet, and you can't stand up in it. That was the ride home every swing.
So the boys would hit the bottle-o before the hangar, sink tins waiting for the plane, keep going once they were on it, and bring an empty Gatorade bottle for the obvious reason. One bloke had about six beers after a ten hour shift, filled his bottle, and kept going. The plane sits on a slight angle. Everyone's in boots so nobody notices. The admin lady up the front had her shoes off.
That's the flight they got banned from drinking on. They drank anyway.
Then the other one. They flew directly into one of the biggest dust storms in New South Wales history, dropped what Zak reckons was a thousand feet in one hit, and the bloke next to him wasn't belted in. Zak watched him go into the roof and stay there. He watched the pilots come out of their seats. He rang his mum. Fifteen minutes of it, a crosswind landing at 45 degrees, a go around straight back into it, and a pilot of 35 years standing on the tarmac afterwards saying that was the worst turbulence he'd ever experienced and he thought they were dead.
Cheers, cunt. So did we.
Which is why the episode ends where it does. When they tell you to belt up, it isn't because they're wankers.

Tue, 18 Aug 2026 - 12min - 524 - Fake Dicks, Clean Piss And A Dealer Working Underground | Zak's Mining Yarns
Zak spent years underground before he got into coal, and the mine he won't name was the most eye opening job of his life.
There was a bloke dealing gear out of a lunchbox in the workshop. There was a group of them at it, and they never got caught, because between them they had fake dicks and bottles of clean piss ready to go. Right up until the day the site tested everyone in the morning, brought them all back up to the surface mid shift, and tested them again.
There's a fitter knocking on Zak's door at four in the morning holding an oil sample bottle. There's a bloke sitting in a jumbo in his jocks because it was too hot, doing racks, because he was bored waiting for a sparky. There's a fist fight that broke out beside Zak while he had his hands in a thousand volt cabinet. There's a store lady, a diesel fitter, and a set of cameras that nobody told them about.
And there's a leading hand who was asked to fill a condom, filled it right to the brim, and got it slapped straight back across him.
Underneath all of it: Zak started having nightmares about the roof coming in. That's why he moved to coal.

Sun, 16 Aug 2026 - 12min - 523 - Drake Has A 37% Win Rate And Has Lost Over $100 Million
Drake has cycled more money through a betting account in one month than most towns are worth, and he still can't pick a winner.
Zak's got Google out and we're going through the whole lot. A 37% strike rate. $770k on Canada. $1.5 million on Argentina to beat Spain, and Spain get up 1-0 in extra time. A million dollars on Argentina to beat France in 2022. Argentina win, and he still loses on a technicality. And then the one that started the whole curse conversation: a million on Conor McGregor against Max Holloway at UFC 329, and Conor's leg goes seconds into the comeback.
The UFC and boxing list is brutal. Tyson. Usyk. Tommy Fury. Adesanya. He does win occasionally, Izzy in the rematch and Jon Jones by submission, but the man once posted a screenshot showing $124.5 million wagered in thirty days.
Then we go looking for the biggest punts ever laid. Mattress Mack turning a $3 million bet into $75 million US when the Astros took the 2022 World Series, which is $117 million in real money. And a bloke in 1980 who walked into the Horseshoe with a suitcase holding $777,000, put the lot on one roll of the dice, and won.
Baked beans or rib fillet. The choice is yours.

Thu, 13 Aug 2026 - 7min - 522 - Podcast Royale 3.0 · Fights 12 & 13 Super Heavyweights + Jock Boxing Vs Jimmy Judge
The last two fights on the card, and the main event is a bloke who fights for a living against a bloke who eats for a living.
🎟️ TICKETS → alphaevents.com.au, hit the Fight Night button.
Fight 12: Zayden Bryant (Dead Arse) vs BJ Wallace (Into The Green). Not heavyweights. Super heavyweights. Zayden got the call and went straight into gorilla mode, heavy bench, heavy squats, heavy deadies — and had to be told he's boxing, not entering a strongman. He's got Bryce in his corner and half of Rocky behind him. BJ's the lawn care king, a genuinely great bloke, and enormous with hands to match. Neither of us reckons this sees the end of three rounds.
Fight 13: THE MAIN EVENT. Jock vs Jimmy Judge (Judgement Entertainment). Jimmy's got about 18 amateur fights. Jock's had roughly 800 and doesn't care who's holding the other pair of gloves, big, small, day or night, he'll bash blokes in a paddock. Jock's movement is genuinely slick. Jimmy hits like a truck, and when he commits to something he goes all the way down, you've seen the assault bike stuff. But Jock's running his own promotion up in Yeppoon at the same time, and we both know what a thousand other things on your plate does to a fight camp.
Then everything else: the free live show the night before, the press conference, the Sunday sesh at the casino, a celebrity singing the national anthem, and a bloke potentially flying in from Norway for one chant. Sam O'Connor's skipping being best man at a wedding to fight on this card. That's the level.

Tue, 11 Aug 2026 - 11min - 521 - Cowboy vs Love Islander, Liam Vs Curly & Nelson's Knockouts | Fights 9, 10 & 11 | Podcast Royale 3.0
Three fights this episode, and one of them we genuinely cannot call.
Fight 9: Tylen Wallace vs Josh Moss. Reef versus beef. Josh is off Love Island Australia and the No Hard Feelings podcast, all his photos are at the ocean, and right now he's training somewhere between Japan and Barcelona. Tylen's in a paddock. Tylen took last year's fight on a four week call-up straight off the farm, copped a hiding to the neck and just kept walking forward. Both of us are backing the bloke with the mongrel.
Fight 10: Liam Moore vs Nathan "Curly" Marks. Liam off the Inspired Unemployed Impractical Jokers, who in last year's card didn't just win, he looked like an actual pro boxer, two pros sitting next to Knuckles were calling his setups before he threw them. Against Curly, who lives in his van, won the Oak milk challenge, and has fought half the trades in the country. Zak's got him because he trains at Undisputed under current world champions. Knuckles reckons he's never met a structured fighter yet. This one splits us.
Fight 11: Jeremy Latimore vs Jarrod Wallace. Nelson's Knockout Bout. One Queenslander, one from New South Wales, both flattened by Nelson Asofa-Solomona, both with everything to prove, and the whole fight is really about who's second to Nelson. Knuckles was ringside for both and walked out with Latsy. It's like your parents breaking up, you can't pick a side, and we had to.

Sun, 09 Aug 2026 - 13min - 520 - Fights 7 & 8: Tag Team Biff + The Seven Man Blindfold | Podcast Royale 3.0
First up the tag team, The Better Bloke Project's Matt Rogers and Rob Sutherland against Now Thats Dramas' Tommy Allen and Brody Hetherington. Except the card might not stay that way. If Matt's out and Big Kyle steps in, everything flips. Kyle got fed to Latsy last year and got well and truly smoked, but twelve months training out of Undisputed Boxing is a long time. There's also a rumour going round about Matt and bare knuckle. Can't confirm, can't deny.
Then Fight 8, the Seven Man Blindfold, where the defending champ is Ben Pettingill: blind, undisputed, and one of the best humans either of us has ever met. Which makes it awkward, because we're sending two fighters in against him: Casey, one of the best electricians in the world, and Johnny Rayner, the Mudgee lumberjack with the swollen budgie.
Strategy discussed at length: hooks over straights, and whether dick punching is legal. It is not clear that it is not.

Thu, 06 Aug 2026 - 13min - 519 - "Blind Benny's Fucked" Every Team's Blindfold Picks | Podcast Royale 3.0
We got the two Proper True Yarn boys sorted last episode. Now we need to know what we're up against.
So Knuckles got on the blower mid-shoot and rang every director on the card to find out who they've thrown into the Seven Man Blindfold : and why.
Buster's crew have gone with Welchie, a Cargill farmer who was told 75 to 95 kilos, turned up at 105, and is now sitting at 94. He's also carrying the world's biggest testicle, which four of us have signed. One side of it. And Joey, a four-foot-eleven butcher with a big head and small hands who missed out on the antweight and is now planning to sucker punch his way through a field he can't see. Six bruised navels incoming.
The Alpha Blokes have gone Team Double Champ : Tommy Duncan and Davey Cook, both double champs, one of them the owner of the only ABC pokie machine ever made.
And then there's Ben Pettingill. Blind. Defending champion. Undisputed. Every single person on this call rates him as a bloke and reckons he's going to get done anyway.

Thu, 30 Jul 2026 - 11min - 516 - Podcast Royale 3.0 Fight Preview: Gocsy vs Moose, Bluey vs The Judge
The fight card breakdown starts here. Over the next run of episodes Knuckles and Zak go fight by fight through Podcast Royale 3.0, two fights an episode, and it kicks off with a couple of rippers.
First up, Josh 'Bluey' Neilson from Daily Blue Weekly takes on Jared 'The Judge' Purcell from the Broken Fathers Podcast. Bluey went 1-0 at the first Podcast Royale and the boys have trained with him, so they're leaning his way, straight punches, grounded, solid unit. Then Knuckles drops the twist. Purcell's ex-army and looks an absolute weapon. Zak reckons if he walked into a pub and had to pick one to fight off looks alone, he's picking Bluey every day of the week.
Then the opener that could set the tone for the whole night. Reigning champ Aaron Gocs from Have A Yarn With Me against The Moose from the Two Flogs Podcast, and Moose is calling it Buster's Redemption. Gocs got the KO first year and has got that mongrel in him, a bit of musk rat, a bit of dog. The problem is nobody's ever seen Gox get whopped, whereas Moose can clearly land and take one after that war with Quino. Both boys are tipping the Moose. Plus Knuckles is trying to get Mr Row Row himself in to lead the Viking clap for Moose's walkout, with Travis Fimmel on standby as backup.

Tue, 28 Jul 2026 - 11min - 515 - I Blacked Out In An Onsen In Hakuba & Had My Kei Truck "Stolen"
Part 2 with Zak Palmas in the guest chair, and he's finally spilling the Japan yarns Knuckles has been making him save for the mic. The boys start with how they actually met, working side by side in the mines, ripping on people and talking about starting a podcast years before it happened. Zak reckons watching Knuckles network his way through life is what finally taught him it's not what you know, it's who you know. Then Japan. Seven trips, one stint living in Hakuba at 21 and thinking he was invincible. Working as a cleaner, skipping breakfast and lunch, snowboarding straight off shift, then sitting in the onsen dehydrated with nothing in the tank. It caught up with him at the Highland Hotel where he blacked out getting out of the hot tub and came to on the floor, butt naked, surrounded by naked blokes trying to help, and completely lost the plot before realising what had happened. Plus the kei truck era. Seven blokes in the tray drifting through Echoland, blokes nearly falling out, ending up buried in the snow. Then the night he got so blind he couldn't work out how to lock the hubs in, fell out of the ute, spent twenty minutes searching the snow for a key that was sitting in the ignition, and walked five k's home in a blizzard. Then rang his boss and told him it got stolen. ⚠️ Explicit content.

Sun, 26 Jul 2026 - 14min - 514 - Buckeye’s First Start: Cam Hay Calls In With the Hot Scoop Before the Gold Coast
Knuckles and Zak get Cam Hay from Mustr Racing on the phone for a quick one ahead of Buckeye’s first race start at the Gold Coast this weekend.
Cam reckons the horse is flying. Two trials, two wins, and he still hasn’t been out of second gear. First trial he jumped, went to the front and stuck it in first the whole way. Second trial they went quicker, he had to absorb pressure, they clicked him up a gear and he flew away from them. There’s four more gears in there.
The bit that gives Cam the most confidence is Corey Munce ringing him to say he won’t let anyone else near the horse. He’s my horse now. Walks around the stable like he owns the place and has shown them plenty in track work.
The boys also talk about what the Cold Brew win was actually like on the day, blokes who met a couple of hours earlier hugging and crying by the finish, and Cam reckons it’s one of the greatest moments of his life. The plan is to double it second or third up with a proper owners day on track.

Thu, 23 Jul 2026 - 9min - 513 - Zak Palmas on Fighting at Podcast Royale with a corner who almost didn't show up
The tables turn. After years behind the camera and in the producer's chair, Zak Palmas finally sits down as the guest, and Knuckles gets the yarn out of him. Zak breaks down his Podcast Royale fight against Matty Brown from the inside. His wife was pregnant and stuck at home with morning sickness. His trainer bailed to chase a world title. One of Australia's best boxers was meant to be in his corner and never showed. So Zak sat out the back of the Gold Coast Convention Centre completely alone, sweating bullets, watching Matty and his crew laugh around the corner, seriously considering walking out the door. The lead-up was a disaster too. Got married, did his buck's party, wrecked his ankle at said buck's party, went on his honeymoon, and rocked up to fight night on five weeks of training. Then he walked out in front of 5,500 people, a bloke who's spent his whole career as the back of someone's head on a camera, and realised it's nothing like sparring. Matty was southpaw. Zak had never sparred a southpaw in his life. His mate Yungu just kept screaming go left, go left. He got the W. He still reckons Matty won it. And now Knuckles is trying to convince him to do it all again! ⚠️ Explicit content.

Tue, 21 Jul 2026 - 6min - 512 - Deleting $100k of Footage With One Keystroke, the Tony Stark Supercar Lair Under a Melbourne House & the Prince's Albino Alligators
Part 9, the final one with Geordie Lillis from Creators of Awesome, and it's the guest questions round. Four days deep into podcasting and Geordie's cooked, but he still delivers. He doesn't want anyone's autograph because he walks away from every shoot with a video of that person instead, which he reckons is worth more. No idols either, just running his own race, and the novelty of rubbing shoulders with Chris Hemsworth and Max Verstappen wears off quicker than you'd think. His biggest fuck-up is a good one. Eighteen hour shoot on the back of fourteen straight days, back at the accommodation copying two terabytes off twelve cards, so cooked he hit Control X instead of Control C and wiped half a card of factory footage they only had one day of access to. Call it thirty to a hundred grand, gone in a silent keystroke. Plus the Tag Heuer after-party at the Melbourne Grand Prix in a $30 million house that looks completely normal from the street until the entire front yard lifts up on hydraulics and you drive down a spiral ramp into a Tony Stark supercar lair with Peking Duk playing. And the reason the Prince of Johor has a collection of white albino alligators, which is that you can't legally export alligators from the States, but apparently an albino one doesn't count as an alligator. Sun, 19 Jul 2026 - 11min - 511 - Drunk Go-Karting in the Rain in Malaysia, Piss Alley in Tokyo & Stealing a Porcelain Pineapple in Austria
Part 8 with Geordie Lillis from Creators of Awesome, and it's all travel yarns. Geordie's held a camera in more countries than most people visit in a lifetime. Sitting on top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, which he points out is a fair way from Dalby. Nights out in Piss Alley in Shinjuku, where three streets are packed with about 150 tiny family-run bars that fit three patrons each and some won't even let tourists in. Then Malaysia. Filming a vehicle announcement with the princes of Johor, wrapped in the afternoon, and found a 24 hour go-kart track. There's a bar at the track and they do not care how full you are. Started pissing down rain, the whole place was theirs, staff jumped in karts and started chucking buckets of water on the track so the boys could do drifties at midnight. And the big one. First trip out of Australia at 23, on a Contiki with 14 Aussie blokes in the Austrian ski town of Hopfgarten. Dead bar, a house drink called a fruit salad, a Stratocaster on the stage, and the moment Geordie started playing Highway to Hell a whole bus of Australians walked through the door. Ends with a stolen porcelain pineapple, a taxi, and waking up cuddling it covered in dots. Need a video done? Find Creators of Awesome. ⚠️ Explicit content.

Thu, 16 Jul 2026 - 12min - 510 - Growing Up Outside Dalby & the School Principal Who Became One of Australia’s Most Notorious Killers
Part 7 with Geordie Lillis from Creators of Awesome, and it takes a heavy turn.
Geordie starts light, growing up on a bit of land outside Dalby with his old man teaching at the local state school, and reckons Progress Street in Kwinalei has seen the least progress of any street in the country. The pub’s shut down too, so it’s Kaimkillenbun for a feed these days.
Then he tells the yarn about his high school principal, Stacey Train, who years later was one of the three people involved in the Wieambilla shootings. Geordie’s memory of her is a good one. The day a supply teacher marched him and his mates off the school oval for climbing trees at lunch, dumped them in Stacey’s office, and Stacey just looked at them and said “you probably shouldn’t have been in the tree, so walk out of here and look sad.”
Geordie talks about the subtle signs he can see looking back, the family relationships that were already breaking down, and what it’s like watching someone you knew as a decent human end up somewhere unthinkable. His take is that you’ve got to watch who you surround yourself with, because you never know where you end up.

Wed, 15 Jul 2026 - 7min - 509 - Bartering With the Indonesian Military to Fly a Drone, Vaporising a Turtle on the Highway & Losing Two Drones Up a Tree in the Outback
Then Christie’s driving on the highway west of Dalby filming a truck video. Swerves to save a turtle. Reckons she saved it. The following semi-trailer disagrees. Geordie’s got the GoPro strapped to the truck wheel and gets the close-up. Just a pink mist.
Then Broome to Darwin. Beautiful bridge, gorgeous shot, “let’s do one more,” drone straight into the tallest tree in the outback. Then the backup drone with a stick sticky-taped to it also gets stuck in the same tree. Four and a half hours from anywhere, sun going down, throwing rocks. Finds an arborist on Facebook at 10.30pm who drives four and a half hours out at 6am and climbs the tree in two minutes flat. Paid him in fishing rods.

Tue, 07 Jul 2026 - 10min - 506 - Geordie Lillis on Getting Struck by Lightning at 14, Breaking His Neck at 21 & Running Cables for the Hulk on ThorPart 3 with Geordie Lillis
Part 3 with Geordie Lillis from Creators of Awesome, and this one goes off. Geordie kicks off with a proper true yarn. At 14, riding his motorbike on the family farm, he got struck by lightning. The bolt hit the power line above him and arced through the ground into his bike. Rubber wheels, rubber gloves, rubber boots. That's the only reason he's here to tell it. Mum watched him vanish in a white flash. He's got the GoPro footage too. The lightning gave him a heart arrhythmia that stuck around until he broke his neck at 21 and the shock reset his heart. Turns out breaking your neck's not all bad news. Geordie walks through the recovery. 21 years old, working on movies at Village Roadshow, one bad skim board fall on the beach, hairline fracture through C1, and months lying in bed counting flies. Then a university lecturer offered him a job teaching filmmaking around Queensland to little indigenous communities. The Pomperaw yarn about handing shoelaces to barefoot kids who turned them into fishing nets by lunch is a ripper. Plus a full breakdown of how a film set actually works. Cinematographer, focus puller, second AC, video utility. And Geordie's specific job on Thor: Ragnarok running hundreds of metres of cable so Chris Hemsworth could see the Hulk in his eyeline. Fri, 12 Jun 2026 - 6min - 496 - The Tractor Disaster & Tiny's Flying LandCruiser Live at AlphaFest
Recorded live at AlphaFest, this episode delivers some of the wildest yarns from the crowd and from Proper True Yarn regular, Tiny. First up, Casey recounts the time she accidentally found herself behind the wheel of a massive tractor at a country pub near Roma. What started as trying to impress a few old cowboys quickly turned into sprinklers exploding, sheep running through the car park, and enough muddy water to irrigate half the town. Then fan favourite Tiny steps up with two absolute belters. He tells the story of "Fuckface Damo", the bloke who survived bull riding, facial reconstruction and hearing aids, only to have his martial arts career ended in one disastrous fight. But the chaos doesn't stop there. Tiny also relives the unbelievable Fraser Island rescue mission where a cooked 80 Series LandCruiser somehow became airborne at Ngkala Rocks and miraculously drove for another two years. From country pub disasters and cowboy culture to flying LandCruisers and blokes who refuse to quit, this AlphaFest live recording is packed with classic Aussie humour and outrageous true stories. Based on the AlphaFest live recording transcript.

Recorded live at AlphaFest, this episode delivers a mix of heartwarming, hilarious and downright unbelievable yarns. Sun, 07 Jun 2026 - 9min - 494 - The Christmas Foursome & The Vasectomy That Made a Baby Live at AlphaFest
Recorded live at AlphaFest, this episode delivers two absolutely unbelievable yarns from the crowd.
First up, Dylan shares the Christmas Day adventure that started with a quiet drink after the kids left and somehow escalated into a spontaneous foursome he never saw coming. Then things take an even stranger turn when Casey from CJ Electrical tells the incredible story of how a vasectomy—meant to stop him having more children—somehow led to him fathering a third child naturally after years of IVF treatments.
From wild Christmas chaos and questionable life decisions to medical mysteries that sound too crazy to be true, this AlphaFest live recording is packed with laughs, shock moments, and classic Aussie storytelling. Featuring Alpha Blokes community members, unexpected twists, and the kind of yarns that only happen when microphones are rolling at AlphaFest.

Thu, 04 Jun 2026 - 9min - 492 - Fake Cops, Crack Dens & Getting Naked at Deni | Live at Alpha Fest
Welcome back to Proper True Yarn!
This episode was recorded LIVE at Alpha Fest, where Knuckles handed the mic to festival-goers and let them loose with some absolute belters.
First up, Jimmy shares the unbelievable story of buying his first home, only to discover it had previously been used as a drug house. Things took a terrifying turn when three men posing as police stormed the property looking for $25,000 in cash and hidden drugs.
Then Jess takes us back to the Deni Ute Muster, where a few too many bags of wine led to an unforgettable night involving dancing on a ute tray, getting stark naked in front of a massive crowd, and ending up in the drunk tank.
Finally, Laurie tells the story of a local cricket club president who got blind drunk, fell asleep in the shower, flooded his parents’ house, and earned himself a legendary nickname that still follows him today.
These are the kinds of wild, hilarious and unbelievable stories that make Proper True Yarn what it is.
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you hand a microphone to a crowd full of Australians at a festival, this episode has your answer.

Tue, 02 Jun 2026 - 8min - 491 - Chad Collins on Losing It at 13, Fighting at Maccas & Why Jim Morrison Plays Him in the Movie
Part 6 with Chad Collins, guest questions round and it gets unhinged.
Chad takes the rapid-fire guest questions and the answers are gold. He’d grab Mr. Beast’s autograph (met him at UFC 299 next to Logan Paul), reckons Muhammad Ali would’ve been the proper sit-down yarn, and breaks down the biggest fuck-up of his life, not moving to Thailand at 17 instead of 21, all because of puppy love. The boys talk about chasing dreams and why your partner has to be on the same page or they’re not the one.
Plus the story of losing his virginity at 13, and the absolute curse that his dad was hooking up with the girl’s mum on the same night. The Nobby’s surfy share-house party as a grade 8 kid getting fed goon by the older blokes. Punching on with local Gold Coast pro skater Peewee in the 5th Ave Maccas car park for 15 minutes over localism until Peewee started vomiting. Two years sober now, fully locked in on the fight game.
Walks out to The Doors’ LA Woman every fight and reckons Jim Morrison could play him in the movie. Also wants a pet ostrich to run his K’s with.

Fri, 29 May 2026 - 11min - 489 - Belts Belong in the Gym, Inspiring the Next Generation & Why Muay Thai Beats MMA
Part 4 with world champion Chad Collins — this one's all heart. Chad gets passionate about why every belt he's won (17-19 of them and counting) lives at his gym instead of collecting dust at home. He breaks down the kid-walking-into-Urban-Fight-Gym moment as a young Tucker, seeing Nathan Corbett's WMC world titles on the wall, and realising that's the dream — and how he's now paying it forward for the next generation of Aussie weapons coming through. Plus a proper breakdown of Muay Thai's global rankings (Thailand 60%, England second, Australia a fast-rising third), why he reckons it's a poor man's sport that deserves more shine, and a healthy rant about why MMA is shit when they're wrestling on the ground. Knuckles agrees — get the fuck up and punch on. ⚠️ Explicit content.

Tue, 26 May 2026 - 9min - 488 - Chad Collins on the 15-Fight Win Streak, Getting Knocked Down for the First Time & Riding the Black Patch
Part 3 with world champion fighter Chad Collins — and it's the rawest one yet. Chad walks through his 15-fight winning streak, the WBC world title defence where he split his shin open, and the four-week turnaround for the brutal Petch Panomarung fight in Japan where he won with blood and piss pouring out of his leg. Then the high comes crashing down. Chad gets honest about Miguel Trinidad — the Portuguese striker who idolised him, told him at the weigh-in "I'm gonna beat you bad," and then put Chad down for the first time in his career. He talks through the head-game spiral afterwards, the comeback win in Japan, the 8-man Glory vs Rise tournament, and the rematch with Trinidad that didn't go his way either. Plus the "purple patch / black patch" philosophy from his old man, and why Chad reckons the tide is turning ahead of his next fight on 2 November — round 3 of the 24-man Last Man Standing tournament against Yura. ⚠️ Explicit content.

Sun, 24 May 2026 - 16min - 487 - Silly Saturday #23 Dubbo Mayhem, Welding Slag Wars & Hitting a Horse on the Highway
Knuckles and Zak are live from Launceston, Tasmania for Silly Saturday #23 — drinking Boag's Draught 3.5 (Knuckles' new favourite) and rolling through another round of unhinged listener yarns. Charlie Maybury carries the whole episode with three rippers — a metals class welding slag incident that coated the teacher, and two Dubbo nights out involving a gorilla-on-steroids bouncer, a hammered taxi ride, and donuts in a Falcon at the Maccas car park that ended on a power pole. Plus Knuckles tells the proper true yarn about hitting a horse at 120k's on the Dubbo highway at 3am — and what he did with the dead horse to teach the dickhead owner a lesson. Zak chips in with his own Dubbo story about getting chased through the streets at 2am. 🎙️ Got a Dubbo yarn? The boys want to hear it. Hit the Linktree. ⚠️ Explicit content.

Fri, 22 May 2026 - 11min - 486 - Cam Hay Got Bucked Off a Pony in Front of Gai Waterhouse
Part 3 with Cam Hay from Mustr Racing — and this one's all yarns. Fresh out of school with zero horse experience, Cam talked his way into a job at Gai Waterhouse's Randwick stable. He breaks down the journey from picking up shit for six months to begging Gai for a ride on the lead pony — and the absolute disaster that followed when a 25-year-old half-asleep ex-racehorse decided he'd had enough and bucked Cam right in front of the entire Randwick track. Plus race day chaos with Knuckles, Brizzy and Buster — the bookie who refused to take any more bets, and the bloke who jumped the fence and ran the straight shirtless during a rain-out at Eagle Farm. Cam also gets honest about the lows — including the 1-in-5-million yearling retired before she ever raced. 🐎 Get your share in Buckeye at musrracing.com or grab the Mustr app on iOS/Android.

Thu, 21 May 2026 - 14min - 485 - Picking Buckeye, Vetting Race Horses & the Half Yours Melbourne Cup Miss
Part 2 with Cam Hay from Mustr Racing — and this one's a ripper. Cam breaks down exactly how he picks the horses he syndicates, why his data analyst (allegedly living in a dark room under a house) is the secret weapon, and the heartbreaking yarn about the horse he was this close to buying — that went on to win a Caulfield Cup, then a Melbourne Cup. Yeah. Half Yours. Plus the boys get into why a failed vet check (Paltrow Miss) was actually the right call, how benchmark ratings work, and why Buckeye is the perfect tried horse for the Mustr syndicate — already winning by 5 lengths, well-bred, and racing again by early July. Cam also walks through the new Mustr Racing app — live updates, prize money straight into your wallet, marketplace, all the gear. 🐎 Get your share in Buckeye at musterracing.com or grab the Mustr app on iOS/Android. $255 one-off, all costs covered.

Tue, 19 May 2026 - 15min - 484 - Mustr Racing, Race Horse Syndication & How to Own a Horse for $255
Knuckles sits down in Launceston, Tasmania with Cam Hay from Mustr Racing for the first ever Proper True Yarn pod recorded in Tassie. Cam runs Mustr Racing with his two brothers Michael and Tom — a micro-share syndication business making race horse ownership accessible to everyday Aussies. The boys yarn about Cam's failed-professional-punter grandfather, his dad's first horse share bought off a hot day at the races, and how Mustr has partnered with Alpha Blokes, Hello Sport, and now Knuckles himself on the new horse — Buckeye. Cam breaks down how a one-off $255 buy-in covers training fees, vet costs, race day events and a merch pack for the entire career of the horse — no surprise bills, no monthly invoices. Just the fun of being an owner without getting smashed by ongoing fees. Part 1 of 2 — next episode dives into how Cam and the boys actually pick the horses they syndicate. 🎙️ Want in on Buckeye? Thu, 07 May 2026 - 15min - 478 - Beau Jones Fake Brother: A Live Call to the Real One
Knuckles is back on the piss with Beau Jones and Jordan Abbey Young — and within minutes Knuckles drops a curly one. At the Childers show, a carny rocked up to his stall calling himself Jonesy, reckoning he was Beau's older brother. Helicopter yarns, court battles over Coolibah Station, a feud over the family inheritance — the bloke had detail for days. Only problem: nobody in the actual Jones family has ever heard of him.So they ring the real brother live. Milton picks up from the pub on a half-day off, somewhere between Brisbane and the Territory, and the boys break the news he might have a long-lost sibling running rides at country shows. Turns out it's not the first one either — there's another fake Jones allegedly running tabs at Coolibah in Milton's name, plus the one who reckons he's at an Ag Force convention in Melbourne doing six o'clock meetings while everyone else is drinking piss.Pull out a Jones name in any pub between Roma and the Territory and there's a chance you're related to one of them. Crack a cold one and have a listen.

Tue, 05 May 2026 - 8min - 477 - Hotmail, Hard Rock & Heartbreak: The Mining Reality Show Australia Needs
Knuckles is joined by Beau and Jordan — two mates who grew up in the bush — for a proper crack about reality TV, fake country blokes, and the next great Aussie dating show: Miner Wants a Vagina.Beau gives the inside word on growing up on Keeping Up with the Joneses, the reality series built around his family. He reckons every reality TV format hits the same four base needs — shelter, food, sex, and social — and Joneses nailed all of them 15 years before Yellowstone made country cool. Jordan brings his own take on the gap between bush and country culture, and the cunts they finally met at Podcast Royale who live it for real.Plus: dial-up internet trauma (running back and forth on the verandah to type "H-T-T-P"), the bloke at Johnny Ringo's running three head of Brahmans in head-to-toe RM Williams, and a mining reality show pitch that gets more cooked by the minute.Crack a cold one and have a listen.

Fri, 01 May 2026 - 15min - 475 - Territory Was a Wake-Up Call | Why Acting School Had It Wrong
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, Beau Jones and Jordan Abbey Young break down the moment acting school stopped serving a purpose and real experience finally took over. The conversation centres on Beau’s time filming Territory in the Northern Territory, and how different the environment was compared to his early work on productions like Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan. Where acting school drilled rules like “don’t speak,” “don’t stand out,” and “don’t question anything,” Territory demanded the opposite.Instead of being told where to stand and when to die, Beau explains how he was asked real creative questions. What would your character wear? How would he act? What habits would he have? That shift marked a turning point from being a nervous extra to being trusted as part of the storytelling process.Filming at Tipperary Station amplified everything. Long days, isolation, a fully functioning cattle station still running around the production, and no escaping back to city comforts. Cast and crew lived together, drank together, and learned from each other, including time spent with experienced actors like Rob Taylor. The episode also dives into why the Northern Territory hasn’t been boxed into a genre yet, and why Beau believes it should be treated like Australia’s modern Wild West. Raw, rough, authentic, and still largely misunderstood on screen. As always, the yarn doesn’t stay serious for long. Stories spiral into escaped zoo animals, pig hunters and pygmy hippos, stolen penguins, and a full-on altercation with a koala on North Stradbroke Island. It’s an honest breakdown of confidence, creative growth, and the moment you realise school teaches rules, but sets teach reality. If you’re into acting behind the scenes, Australian TV, Territory life, or hearing how careers actually get built, this episode delivers.Straight talk, real lessons, and classic Proper True Yarn chaos.#propertrueyarn

Thu, 30 Apr 2026 - 16min - 474 - The Forsayth Turnout | Yabbie Races, Small-Town Blues & Singing You Don’t Remember
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, Beau Jones and Jordan Abbey Young take Knuckles back to Jordan’s hometown of Forsayth in North Queensland for what was meant to be a wholesome country weekend and quickly turned into absolute chaos. What starts as a 2000-kilometre road trip in an old 75 Series LandCruiser becomes a full-scale lesson in small-town dynamics. Yabbie races with serious money on the line, locals who already know everything about you before you arrive, and tension brewing the moment someone decides to run their mouth at the pub.The boys unpack how a “big blue” turned out to be the most anticlimactic fight of all time, why Bo somehow always manages to miss the action by going for a piss, and how rumours grow legs faster than facts in a town of eighty people. By the end of the weekend, stories of coward punches, fires, and alleged violence are circulating, despite almost nothing actually happening.Things escalate further at the Forsayth Turnout when country music royalty Luke Geiger pulls Jordan up on stage in front of his hometown crowd. What should have been a hero moment turns into pure second-hand embarrassment when Jordan realises he doesn’t know the lyrics to his own family anthem or Friends in Low Places. The episode also dives into the aftermath. More pub blues, emotional locals, a grown man crying on his mum’s shoulder in front of half the town, and one of the strangest hypothetical questions ever asked between mates, ending with the unforgettable answer: “larger than not, no.”It’s a raw, hilarious look at country towns, long memories, fragile egos, and why going home is never as simple as it sounds. If you’re into outback stories, small-town pub fights, country music chaos, road trips gone wrong, and real Australian yarns, this episode delivers exactly that.Messy, honest, and completely unapologetic.A proper true yarn from the bush.#propertrueyarn

Tue, 28 Apr 2026 - 22min - 473 - Cut or Uncut | The Foreskin Census Nobody Asked For
This episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast goes completely off the rails as Beau Jones and Jordan Abbey Young introduce one of the strangest ongoing bits in podcast history. What starts as a casual yarn quickly turns into an in-depth, highly unscientific investigation into circumcision, foreskins, late cuts, and why one of the boys is actively keeping a written list of who’s cut, who isn’t, and who gets an exemption for being a good bloke. The conversation spirals into stories about late-life circumcisions, running theories on hygiene, confidence, and why certain blokes just “give off” uncut energy. There are wild metaphors involving cars, engines, fuel filters, and luxury vehicles that somehow all get tied back to anatomy.Jordan explains why he named his cock after Gerard Butler, comparisons are made that no one asked for, and a pub-based foreskin guessing game is pitched as a genuine social experiment.Along the way, the boys break down why asking uncomfortable questions is sometimes the fastest way to work out who you’ll actually get along with. According to this logic, if someone can’t answer “cut or uncut” without panicking, they’re probably not staying out till 3am with you anyway. It’s crude, ridiculous, self-aware, and exactly the kind of yarn that could only happen after a few tins with the right people. If you’re into unfiltered Australian humour, pub logic, conversations that go way too far, and episodes that abandon all dignity within five minutes, this one delivers.Absolutely not safe for work.Absolutely a proper true yarn.

Sun, 26 Apr 2026 - 10min - 472 - Acting School Is Cooked | What They Teach You and What Actually Matters
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, Beau Jones and Jordan Abbey Young break down acting school from the inside, what it actually teaches you, what it doesn’t, and why most people misunderstand how acting careers really work. The conversation centres around their time at the New York Film Academy on the Gold Coast, back when it operated out of the Movie World studios. The boys explain that while acting can’t really be “taught” in a traditional sense, being immersed on real sets teaches you the most important skills of all. Where to stand, how cameras see you, how marks work, and how not to be a liability on set. They talk honestly about the chaos of acting school. Big egos, strange personalities, wild rumours, and the reality that anyone could enrol, which meant a mix of people chasing lifelong dreams and others just dabbling for fun. Drama school, in every sense of the word. The episode also dives into the strange hierarchy of the film industry. One year you’re being coached by someone, the next year you might have more screen credits than them. Beau and Jordan explain why humility, consistency, and being easy to work with matter more than talent alone. They share surreal moments from studying alongside major productions like Thor: Ragnarok, casually seeing Jeff Goldblum walking past during lunch, and learning a simple rule that stuck with them more than any acting technique ever did: don’t be a cunt. The conversation expands into why acting classes can actually be valuable for anyone, not just performers. Confidence, communication, handling pressure, and getting out of your own head are skills that transfer into every part of life. It’s honest, funny, self-aware, and pulls the curtain back on an industry that looks glamorous from the outside but is chaotic, political, and brutally unforgiving underneath. If you’re into behind-the-scenes film stories, acting school realities, creative careers, or conversations that cut through the bullshit, this episode delivers.Straight talk, zero romance, and plenty of proper laughs. A proper true yarn about learning the hard way.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Tue, 21 Apr 2026 - 12min - 471 - Met in a Bin, Bonded on a War Film | Beau Jones & Jordan Abbey Young
This episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast brings two absolute weapons into the studio, Beau Jones and Jordan Abbey Young, for a long-form yarn about friendship, acting, and how careers sometimes start in the strangest possible ways. Both Beau and Jordan grew up as station kids in North Queensland and the Northern Territory, chasing an acting dream that confused their families and tested their commitment early. Their paths eventually crossed on the Gold Coast through short films, indie projects, and pure chaos, including the first time they properly met when one of them was literally playing a homeless bloke in a wheelie bin during a film shoot in Beenleigh.Beau talks about boarding school on the Gold Coast and studying acting at the New York Film Academy, before returning to Australia to grind through low-budget productions and short films. Jordan shares his own journey, bouncing between stations, sheds, couches, and castings while chasing opportunities wherever they appeared. The episode really opens up when the boys break down landing roles in Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan, their first major professional acting job. They tell the full story of beating thousands of auditions, getting flown to Kingaroy, and immediately celebrating their “big break” by getting completely blind the night before a freezing early-morning call time. What follows is an all-time hangover yarn. Missed alarms, panic showers, vomiting into a backpack full of scripts and wardrobe, and still somehow surviving a full day of filming without getting sent home. It’s funny, brutal, and painfully honest about how unforgiving the industry can be when you’re just getting started.Beyond the chaos, the episode digs into shared rural values, persistence over polish, and what it means to back yourself without a safety net. It’s about timing, luck, and finding your people along the way.If you’re into Australian film stories, behind-the-scenes acting yarns, regional blokes chasing creative careers, or raw conversations about getting your first real break, this episode delivers.Loose, honest, and full of proper laughs. A proper true yarn about friendship, timing, and earning your shot.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Fri, 17 Apr 2026 - 8min - 469 - Magical Smoke, Steve Renoff & The TikTok Live Pressure Test
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, Jimmy Christmas jumps into the hot seat for a rapid-fire question session, live on TikTok.From the very first question, it’s chaos.Jimmy shares where to find his viral Christmas light displays (Jimmy_Xmas on socials) and talks about the Tongan rugby league light show that blew up online. What started as a hobby has turned into one of the most talked-about Christmas light setups in Australia. Then the questions get real.If he could get anyone’s autograph, dead or alive, who would it be? Jimmy doesn’t hesitate. It’s Steve Renouf, “The Pearl.” He tells the story of finally meeting his childhood hero after State of Origin and how it felt to come face-to-face with the bloke he used to pretend to be in the backyard. He also opens up about one of his biggest and most expensive mistakes. In true DIY fashion, Jimmy accidentally wired 24-volt power supplies into a 12-volt setup and let the “magical smoke” out of a brand-new control board imported from America. A painful lesson in checking specs before plugging things in.The rapid-fire keeps rolling:
Losing his virginity at 14 after a very suspicious “study session.”Meeting Billy Slater after the 2017 Grand Final and confidently grabbing him mid-celebration.Dust-ups at ag college that escalated quickly and got completely out of hand. Why Seann William Scott (Stifler from American Pie) would be the perfect actor to play him in a movie. And why, if he could own any animal in the world, it would absolutely be a monkey. It’s loose, unfiltered, and exactly what happens when you mix footy, farming, Christmas lights, and a live audience egging it on.If you’re into Aussie humour, rugby league stories, Christmas light madness, or rapid-fire guest questions that go completely off track, this episode delivers.Fast, funny, and full of classic Jimmy Christmas energy.A proper true yarn.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Thu, 16 Apr 2026 - 9min - 468 - Ag College Built Me | Crushed Fingers, Life Lessons & Why School Isn’t for Everyone
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, Jimmy Christmas looks back on the years that shaped him most, his time at agricultural college, and why it was the best thing that ever happened to him.Jimmy talks openly about hating school, struggling academically, and being given one last shot when his parents allowed him to leave in Year 10 and head to Ag College. With strict conditions to pass and no room to fail, he explains how that structure finally clicked and forced him to apply himself in a way traditional schooling never did.The episode takes a brutal turn when Jimmy tells the full story of crushing his fingers in a farming accident just before starting college. A hydraulic ram, a bad decision, and a split-second mistake left him hospitalised, heavily bandaged, and turning up late to college with a mangled hand and no mates. It’s graphic, funny in hindsight, and completely honest about how fast things can go wrong on farms. From awkward first days and standing up for teachers when no one else did, to discovering half the class had failed maths despite supposedly needing Bs to get in, the yarn captures the chaos, humour, and growth that came with those years at Ag College in Emerald.Jimmy also dives into a bigger conversation about education in Australia. He questions whether the current school system actually works for everyone and argues strongly for more trade-based pathways, practical life skills, and real-world education. Business basics, tax knowledge, and exposure to trades are things he believes would help far more kids than forcing everyone down the same academic road. It’s a thoughtful, funny, and brutally real episode about finding your place, learning the hard way, and why some people just aren’t built for classrooms but thrive when given responsibility and purpose. If you’re into Australian rural stories, farm life, education debates, or coming-of-age yarns that actually say something, this one hits hard.Honest, raw, and full of perspective. Tue, 14 Apr 2026 - 9min - 467 - Footy Trips, Motel Chaos & Getting Hugged by Alfie Langer
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, Jimmy Christmas switches gears from farming chaos to classic footy stories that only come from road trips, rep sides, and too much freedom in motel rooms.Jimmy talks about growing up around footy, playing local and rep sides, and why making representative teams was often more about the away trips than the games themselves. He shares one unforgettable trip where a simple idea for team bonding turned into a full-blown motel party involving two footy teams, overturned beds, angry owners, a mysteriously missing minibar, and police turning up to absolutely nothing. The yarn digs into why team culture matters, how shared chaos builds trust, and why that one night off the field helped turn a smashed side into a competitive unit the very next game. It’s a reminder that footy isn’t just about talent, it’s about camaraderie, trust, and knowing the bloke next to you has your back.Jimmy also opens up about marrying into a deeply football-connected family and the moments that come with it. From being inside sheds after big games to State of Origin access that money can’t buy, he explains why those behind-the-scenes experiences mean more than any photo or post. One of the standout moments comes when Jimmy tells the story of being mistaken for Tim Glasby and getting wrapped up in a hug by Alfie Langer, before Alfie realises he has absolutely no idea who he’s hugging. It’s loose, funny, and packed with classic footy energy. The kind of episode that reminds you why sport, trips away, and shared chaos create stories that last forever. If you’re into Australian footy yarns, rep team chaos, road trips, or behind-the-scenes sporting stories, this one’s an absolute belter.Funny, nostalgic, and a proper true yarn from kickoff to siren.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Fri, 10 Apr 2026 - 10min - 465 - Kelvin the Farmhand | Naked in a Cherry Picker and Other Hiring Nightmares
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, Jimmy Christmas delivers one of the loosest and most unbelievable farm yarns you’ll ever hear, and every word of it is true. The conversation dives straight into the reality of hiring seasonal workers on a regional avocado farm, where interviews don’t always tell the full story and first days can go wildly off the rails. Jimmy introduces listeners to “Kelvin”, a character inspired by a collection of real-life workers whose behaviour was so cooked it eventually became its own ongoing persona. What starts as a normal hire quickly turns into chaos when a new worker arrives claiming experience, only to be found hours later completely naked in a cherry picker, metres in the air, scratching himself and blaming allergies to grass, weeds, and leaves. On a farm. Full of grass, weeds, and leaves. From support buses dropping workers off, to machinery safety concerns, to phone calls at two in the morning explaining why someone is “still itchy” and can’t come back, Jimmy breaks down the genuine challenges of managing staff, staying patient, and knowing when to cut your losses. The episode also explores broader farming realities, including workforce shortages during COVID, reliance on backpackers and Pacific Island labour programs, language barriers, and why finding ten reliable workers can be harder than running the entire operation solo. It’s raw, funny, ridiculous, and eye-opening, showing a side of farming most people never see, where you don’t just manage crops, you manage absolute characters. If you’re into Australian farm stories, wild worksite yarns, regional life, or episodes that make you say “that can’t be real”, this one is an all-time classic.Loose, honest, and completely unforgettable.A proper true yarn straight from the paddock.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Thu, 09 Apr 2026 - 9min - 464 - Jimmy Christmas | Turning a Family Home Into Australia’s Wildest Light Show
This episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast features a brand new guest with one of the most unexpected passions you’ll hear about all year.Knuckles sits down with Jimmy Xmas, also known as James Cortese, the bloke who turned a simple idea for his kids into a fully synchronised Christmas light display that pulls crowds from all over the region. What started as a few lights quickly turned into a full-scale operation powered by late nights, YouTube tutorials, patience, and a very understanding partner. Jimmy breaks down how deep the rabbit hole goes, how much gear is actually hanging off his house, and why once you start, there’s no turning back.Alongside the lights, the conversation dives into life as an avocado farmer. Jimmy explains how seasonal farming really works, what a good avocado tree actually produces, where the fruit ends up, and why most people have no idea how thin the margins really are once freight, labour, and supermarkets take their cut. It’s a proper country yarn about family, work ethic, passion projects, and doing something purely for the joy it brings other people, especially kids. No influencers, no hype, just someone backing an idea and going all in.If you’re into Australian farming stories, Christmas traditions, small business realities, or people who build something cool from scratch, this episode is a ripper.Wholesome, honest, and a proper true yarn from start to finish.#propertrueyarn

Tue, 07 Apr 2026 - 11min - 463 - Autographs, Punch-Ons & Goon Bags | Rapid-Fire Yarns With The Baron
This episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast is pure loose chat, fast questions, and unfiltered answers as The Baron gets thrown straight into the hot seat.Knuckles fires off rapid-fire questions that spiral quickly from dream autographs and celebrity encounters to golf blow-ups, Tasmanian party chaos, and a full-blown teenage brawl that involved branches, numbers, and very poor decision-making. The Baron opens up about his biggest stuff-ups, first loves, wild nights, and the kind of fights you only end up in when you’re young, drunk, and convinced you’re invincible. The conversation also drifts into fame by association, including being followed by Gordon Ramsay, getting a personal message from Peter Andre, and why Dwayne Johnson would be the only acceptable choice to play him in a movie. It’s light, chaotic, brutally honest, and exactly what Proper True Yarn does best. No overthinking, no polishing, just mates talking shit, telling stories, and laughing their way through it.If you’re into raw Australian podcasts, rapid-fire yarns, and guests who don’t dodge questions, this one’s a ripper from start to finish.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Fri, 03 Apr 2026 - 18min - 461 - The Fantastic Testicle | The Baron’s Swollen Nut & Why Blokes Need to Get Checked
This episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast goes places no one expects and somehow ends up delivering one of the most important health messages you’ll hear all year. What starts as a loose laugh turns into an unforgettable yarn when The Baron tells the full story of discovering a very swollen left nut. From bleach baths and bathroom mirrors to real estate being taken up where it shouldn’t be, Nathan walks through the moment he realised something wasn’t right. The conversation breaks down what a hydrocele actually is, how quickly your mind jumps to the worst-case scenario, and why so many men ignore symptoms instead of getting checked. Nathan shares the doctor visits, scans, specialists, and the sheer relief of reading the words “the testicle looks fantastic” in a medical report.Between the jokes, metaphors, and absolutely cooked analogies, there’s a serious message that cuts through clearly. If something feels off, get it checked. Don’t ignore it. Don’t assume the worst. Don’t accept the first answer if it doesn’t sit right. Push for clarity and look after yourself. The episode also ties into the broader message around men’s health, second opinions, and why early action matters more than pride or embarrassment. It’s crude, funny, uncomfortable at times, and genuinely important. If you like raw Australian podcasts, unfiltered humour, and real conversations that actually say something useful, this episode delivers all of it in one completely unhinged package.Laugh hard. Cringe a bit.And seriously, get yourself checked. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Thu, 02 Apr 2026 - 10min - 460 - The Side You Don’t See | The Baron on Fatherhood, Disability & Holding It Together
This is one of the most raw and important episodes of the Proper True Yarn Podcast to date.In a conversation that strips everything back, The Baron opens up about life behind the laughs, sharing the deeply personal story of his daughter Evie and the reality of raising a child with complex medical needs.Nathan speaks honestly about Evie’s diagnosis of cerebral palsy, her being nonverbal, and the shock of later discovering she also has type 1 diabetes. He walks through the early warning signs, the endless crying as a newborn, missed developmental milestones, hospital visits, and the moment everything changed when her pancreas shut down. The episode captures the helplessness of not being able to communicate with your child when something is wrong, the fear that comes with managing a life-threatening condition, and the emotional weight carried quietly by parents who still have to show up every day. Nathan also explains how modern medical technology has helped them manage Evie’s condition, while still acknowledging how fragile and overwhelming it can feel.Alongside the pain, there’s perspective. Nathan talks about resilience, gratitude, and the mindset that keeps him moving forward, even when things feel unbearable. It’s a powerful reminder that the loudest people often carry the heaviest loads, and that everyone you meet is fighting something you can’t see. This episode isn’t about jokes, viral clips, or internet personas. It’s about parenthood, vulnerability, love, and surviving situations you never imagined facing. If you’re a parent, a carer, or someone who needs to hear that they’re not alone, this episode will hit hard in the best possible way.Raw. Honest. Human.A proper true yarn that matters.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Tue, 31 Mar 2026 - 11min - 459 - Peanut Butter, Sausage Rolls & Life in Tassie | The Baron Gets Personal
In this relaxed and unexpectedly personal episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, we sit down with The Baron for a yarn that moves from family life to food debates and everything in between.Nathan opens up about life away from the internet persona, talking honestly about his wife, his kids, and what it’s like raising a family in Tasmania. While most people know him for loud laughs and viral videos, this episode shows the grounded side that doesn’t always make it onto social media.Naturally, the conversation drifts into food, and it turns into an all-time Australian debate. Sausage rolls, bakeries, servos, and what actually makes a good one. Moistness is discussed at length. So is why lamb is officially off the menu for The Baron after too many years of mining camp meals in Western Australia. From there, things spiral into peanut butter. Crunchy vs smooth. Aussie-made vs imported. Loaded peanut butter flavours that probably shouldn’t exist but absolutely do. Nathan breaks down how his love for peanut butter turned into a collaboration, how a small Australian brand caught his eye before it even launched properly, and why good products still beat good marketing. It’s a loose, funny, and very Australian conversation covering family, food, business, Tasmania life, and the kind of arguments that only happen between mates sitting around a table. If you’re into Australian podcasts, Tassie yarns, food debates, internet creators, or unfiltered conversations that go absolutely anywhere, this episode is a ripper.Easy listening, plenty of laughs, and a proper true yarn the whole way through.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Sun, 29 Mar 2026 - 12min - 458 - Silly Saturday 16: Moxey’s Ambo Nightmares & The No-Stopper Special
This week’s Silly Saturday is basically a full-blown Moxey special, with Knuckles and Zak diving headfirst into some of the wildest ambo yarns you’ll ever hear.
From one of the all-time great warnings about why anything heading up there needs a stopper, to a caravan park root gone completely sideways, Moxey unloads story after story from the ambulance frontline that are equal parts horrifying and hilarious.
In this episode, you’ll hear:A bloke who made a shocking decision and paid dearly for it, a shower incident that ended in a full medical emergency, a ridiculous sex-toy disaster solved in the most old-school way possible, a baked Greek grandma convinced she’d been poisoned, and Moxey’s brutally honest thoughts on childbirth after years on the job.
It’s loose, crook, chaotic, and one of those episodes that just keeps getting worse in the best possible way. Massive shoutout to the ambos who deal with humanity at its weirdest and still front up every day.
A filthy, funny, full-tilt Silly Saturday that proves the ambos have truly seen it all.

Fri, 27 Mar 2026 - 15min - 457 - The English Language Is a Cunt | The Baron vs Words That Make No Sense
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, we sit down with Australian internet favourite The Baron for a full-blown verbal demolition of the English language. What starts as a casual chat quickly turns into a hilarious, rage-fuelled breakdown of why English is one of the most confusing, inconsistent, and poorly designed languages ever forced upon humanity. From words that look identical but sound completely different, to spelling rules that simply disappear when they feel like it, The Baron explains exactly why learning English is an absolute nightmare. He runs through some of the most painful examples imaginable. Tough, though, rough, cough, thorough. Make, bake, ache, naked. Desert and desert. Wind and wind. Produce and produce. Object and object. Bass the fish, bass the instrument, bass the drum. Every example somehow makes sense on its own, yet none of it works together. As the frustration builds, the conversation expands into teachers trying to explain this madness, why educators secretly agree it makes no sense, and how the English language seems to have been designed by a committee that hated consistency. Even the letter W cops a hiding, with a surprisingly valid argument that it is harder to say than the words it represents. This episode also dives into why The Baron turned this exact frustration into his book The English Language Is a Cunt, how his videos around spelling and pronunciation blew up online, and why people from all over the world message him daily just to say, “Thank you, I thought it was just me.”If you love Australian comedy podcasts, language humour, viral internet creators, or yelling at words that don’t behave, this episode will hit home hard.Loud, funny, painfully accurate, and impossible to argue with.A proper true yarn for anyone who has ever tried to spell “thorough” without swearing.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Thu, 26 Mar 2026 - 12min - 456 - Lost in Amsterdam | The Baron, a Sex Show & the World’s Nicest Non-Taxi Driver
In this classic laugh-out-loud episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, The Baron drops one of his all-time great travel stories from his first wild night in Amsterdam. What starts as a harmless Europe trip with his then fiancée quickly escalates into sex shows, cheap joints, tour groups getting loose, and a nightclub that somehow empties out without him noticing. After getting absolutely cooked and separated from everyone he knows, The Baron finds himself wandering the streets of a foreign country with no phone direction, no hostel name, and no clue where he is.Trying to wave down taxis in the dark, he finally hops into a car he assumes is a cab, only to realise after more than an hour of driving around the city that the bloke behind the wheel is not a taxi driver at all. Just a local on his way to work who decided to help a blind drunk Australian stranger get home. The story somehow gets better with every turn, covering weed cafes, tour groups, sex shows, language barriers, hostel roulette, and one of the nicest random acts of kindness you’ll ever hear in a yarn that sounds completely made up but somehow isn’t.If you love travel disaster stories, Amsterdam nightlife yarns, Aussie humour, or proper true stories that spiral out of control, this episode is an absolute belter.Unplanned. Unfiltered. Unforgettable.A proper true yarn told exactly how it happened.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Tue, 24 Mar 2026 - 9min - 455 - The Baron’s Yarns | TikTok Fame, Mining Origins & Why Viral Doesn’t Pay
In this episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, we sit down with Australian internet cult figure The Baron to unpack the real story behind the character, the comedy, and the chaos that made him one of the most recognisable storytellers on social media.Nathan explains how The Baron was born while working in mining in Western Australia, after being handed a welder’s beanie that sparked the nickname “The Red Baron.” What started as a worksite joke quickly became a character that helped him sell thousands of T-shirts through his early brand Instinct Athletic, years before TikTok even existed. He breaks down how the original Baron character was completely mute, communicating only through music and mimed clips on Snapchat, effectively experimenting with short-form storytelling long before platforms like TikTok took over. After stepping away from content and selling the business at a loss, Nathan later revived The Baron online, this time focused purely on telling funny, raw, true stories. One of the biggest takeaways from this episode is the reality of social media money. Despite millions of views and viral clips, The Baron explains why Australian creators make nothing directly from TikTok or Instagram, and why only platforms like Facebook currently offer meaningful ad revenue. It’s an honest look at the creator economy that most people get completely wrong. The episode also dives into the Baron Files Podcast, viral story submissions, and why telling good yarns still matters even when there’s no cheque at the end of it. From mining camps to social media myths, this conversation strips it all back.If you’re into Australian podcasts, viral storytelling, TikTok reality checks, mining humour, or no-bullshit creator talk, this one hits the mark.Funny, honest, and grounded.A proper true yarn from start to finish.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Tue, 17 Mar 2026 - 12min - 451 - From One Crane to a Fleet | Craig Membrey on Business, Vegas & Chasing Big Dreams
In this second sit-down with Craig Membrey, we peel back the layers on how a young bloke with no tickets and a big dream built one of Australia’s most respected crane and transport businesses — and lived a hell of a life along the way.Craig breaks down his journey from leaving school at 14, taking over a small family operation, and growing it into a massive fleet spanning cranes, trucks, trailers, forklifts, and heavy gear across Australia. Along the way, he talks travel, culture, risk-taking, business mistakes, and why young people should stop wasting weekends and start seeing the world. If you’re into business podcasts, Australian success stories, transport industry yarns, Vegas stories, American road trips, or no-BS life lessons, this episode delivers big time.Straight talk. Fri, 13 Mar 2026 - 15min - 449 - The Bling King’s Legacy | Craig Membrey, Mental Health, Loss & Making It Happen
This is one of the most emotional and important conversations ever recorded on the Proper True Yarn Podcast. In this powerful episode, we sit down with trucking identity and industry legend Craig Membrey, known by many as The Bling King, as he opens up about loss, purpose, and turning pain into action.Craig shares the deeply personal story of losing his son Rowan to suicide, a moment that forever changed his life. From that heartbreak came a mission - to create awareness, spark conversations, and save lives. That mission led to the creation of a one-of-a-kind 2000th Franna crane, built in honour of Rowan and wrapped in the colours of Beyond Blue, standing as a moving symbol for mental health awareness across Australia. This episode goes far beyond trucks and cranes. Craig speaks openly about depression, dark moments, seeking help, survivor’s guilt, and the ripple effects suicide leaves behind on families, friends, and communities. He explains why awareness matters more than donations, why starting conversations can save lives, and why men especially need to learn how to speak up.You’ll also hear how a simple trucker cap became a conversation starter, a symbol of remembrance, and a tool for change - worn not for fashion, but for meaning.⚠️ This episode discusses suicide and mental health. Listener discretion is advised. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636.This isn’t just a yarn - it’s a legacy piece. Raw. Honest. Sun, 01 Mar 2026 - 12min - 442 - Silly Saturday #12 | Rooftop Root, “Rubber in Me?”, and the Wildest Car-Crash Yarn Ever
Silly Saturday rolls in with the usual weekend sermon: rip, tear, bust… or do absolutely fuck-all,just don’t spend it mowing the lawn. Then the hotline delivers a stacked set of yarns:
Harley Wong (Rodeo Root): a backseat session turns into next-day panic when the girl messages asking if he left a condom in her… and Harley’s response is as cooked as you’d expect.Carl Zilly (Average Willy, Bundaberg): at a diabetes seminar in Hervey Bay, he links with a “wee Bonnie lass” and ends up in the bedroom staring down a prosthetic leg… that quickly becomes part of the requested “mischief.”Nulsy’s Fishing Adventures (Rooftop Tent Intruders): comes back to his own rooftop tent to find two randoms mid-act-lets them finish, then bins the mattress the next day.Beefo Keef (Car Crash Horror Film): a head-on at highway speed, the other car’s occupants dead, a hospital lockdown with an angry mob, cops revealing the driver was known and the car was stolen… and the kicker: the passenger was already dead before the crash. Somehow it ends with $150k compo and buying a sailboat in Florida to sail back to Australia. To wrap, the boys plug Our Cow: use code YARN for $50 off your first box over $200, and the yarn of the month scores a free meat box-plus a reminder to send your own yarns in.

Fri, 27 Feb 2026 - 15min - 441 - AJ: Guest Questions & Wedding Blowout
Knuckles wraps up with AJ “the NZ hype train” and fires through a rapid set of guest questions - from grooming habits and what you’d buy with a billion, to biggest fuck-up, dream movie casting, and the ultimate fantasy pet.AJ’s “biggest fuck-up” turns into a full wedding-night disasterclass: arriving underfed, going way too hard, letting off fireworks, an accidental dancefloor knock-out, and a brutal one-liner that gets him kicked out… before making the worst decision of all and drink driving - owning that he deserved to be pulled over. They finish lighter: wild party picks (R&V and Oktoberfest in Munich), AJ casting himself as Jim Carrey (Ace Ventura devotion included), and choosing a trained big ape as the ultimate pet. Knuckles closes the ep with a final shout-out to AJ and a new life motto to send everyone off on the right note.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Thu, 26 Feb 2026 - 10min - 440 - AJ: R&V Chaos, Stage Nudity & the Tractor He Stole
AJ wraps up his wild Auckland era with absolute carnage from Rhythm & Vines (R&V) - New Zealand’s massive New Year’s festival pulling 30,000+ punters.Him and Ant get handed the main stage hosting gig, which is normally just quick intros… but they turn it into full theatre: six or seven costume changes a night, morph suits, Kermit, Pink Panther, inflatable boat races, kiss cams - and at one point, going out completely nude before a major headline act (thankfully not during). They share the chaos of working around big artists like Savage, Sticky Fingers (who rocked up 40 minutes late while the crowd frothed), and the madness of trying to keep a festival crowd engaged when no one’s really listening anyway. Then it drifts into pure after-dark festival mischief: roaming campgrounds in costume at sunrise, hiding in hay bales to dodge security, impulsively stealing a tractor for absolutely no reason… and somehow ending up buying a plus-size inflatable doll named “Bernice” for $100 - who later appears on stage leaking in front of thousands. They also revisit the old Short & Wide TV show days, including a brutal hurdles challenge that leaves AJ with one of the most unfortunate bruising stories you’ll ever hear. It’s five years of festival madness, media chaos, and two idiots pushing stage hosting way further than it ever needed to go.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Tue, 24 Feb 2026 - 12min - 439 - AJ: Kicked Off a Jetstar Flight + Arrested at the Cricket
AJ reckons his 2015–2018 era in Auckland was a full-blown heater — TV show attempts, MC gigs, and running social campaigns (including a massive Snapchat growth run). But the wheels properly fall off with two all-time public blow-ups.First: he’s working content for a Blue Sky / Spring Break party trip heading to Rarotonga. He’s filming the hype on a delayed Jetstar charter, steps near the cockpit to grab a shot, and the captain reckons he’s filming inside - final call is the captain’s, so AJ gets escorted off by police and left watching the party flight take off without him. He books the next-day flight anyway… only to arrive and get quarantined in his room for two days so the crew can “lay low” in case it hits the news. That ends his Blue Sky run. Then: an international match at Seddon Park (Hamilton) where security mistakes AJ for another bloke in the same classic Black Caps top. He gets cut off, then cameras catch him taking a sip of a mate’s beer - and he’s escorted out. A snarky push turns into AJ saying “I’m walking” … and it escalates to handcuffs, right as the Northern Districts CEO clocks the whole thing. The result: AJ loses the upcoming MC gig for the grand final, and he takes it as the final straw. After that, he heads back to Dunedin, slows down, and the rest is history - meets his future wife on Tinder, kid, new job, calmer chapter.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Sun, 22 Feb 2026 - 13min - 438 - Silly Saturday #11 | Pork on Your Fork & Poosie’s Shack Shitshow
Silly Saturday is back with Knuckles and Zak firing up the hotline—powered by the legends at Spit & Swallow (code YARN gets $50 off your first box over $200, plus a monthly free meat-box giveaway). The boys chat work-life balance, upcoming travel, and drop an early tease for the 2026 Podcast Royale: the seven-man blindfold is locked in, with teams being picked and the call-out going wide for anyone game enough to jump in (including the dream of a tough-as-nails yarnette entering the chaos). Then the yarns roll in:
Poosie Yarn: a birthday shack session goes feral when a mate destroys the bathroom-shit everywhere-leaving someone else to deal with the crime scene.Quick One-Liner: a classic mechanic/tradie quote about what can “squeal.”Bali Collarbone Yarn: a post-night-out massage turns into a near-robbery, a moped stack, a broken clavicle, Bali hospital drama, and a solo flight home-right before starting a new job.Knuckles wraps it up with respect for the tough bastards who push through injury, and the usual reminder: send your yarns in through the Country Companies site or the link in bio.

Fri, 20 Feb 2026 - 18min - 437 - AJ: Braveheart at the Highlanders Game Went to Custard
AJ’s back for Part 2 — and it starts with the obvious question: how bad was the Wilson car park damage? ($300… and they basically gave up issuing tickets.)Then AJ tells the story of his return to Forsyth Barr Stadium years later, this time asked to suit up as William Wallace again for a halftime dance comp (with an iPad on the line)… except he stops at a student flat, turns a “warm-up” into a full bottle of vodka, and the whole mission spirals. From falling over at a crossing and losing his gear, to roaming the stadium yelling Braveheart quotes, to pulling himself into the marketing room and spewing on the costume, it’s an absolute trainwreck. Then comes the infamous toilet incident - including the alleged wall-writing that AJ swears was a setup - and two cleaners reportedly running out screaming.Somehow he isn’t banned, eventually gets welcomed back as a megaphone hype-man, and AJ says he’s even been invited to MC the 2026 season - full circle.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast.
