  • 3 - Alabama Blues 3 -Black Belt artists play in the woods

Welcome to the Magic City Blues Society Podcast!

This podcast was recorded in the Alabama Black Belt when some local and Birmingham bluesmen gathered, in the middle of the woods, to play for local people. We are closed to Union, a town of about 200 people, 40 miles away from Old Memphis, where Alabama legend Willie King used to live. And most of the artists performing played with Willie King. One of them is Clarence Bluesman Davis, a singer and guitar player, who used to play with Willie King at his favorite juke joint: Bettie’s Place. Another artist is Jock Webb, Willie King’s harmonica. Ernest Martin, on bass guitar, also played with King. At the drums we have Marcus Lee from Birmingham and the second guitar is Lee Brown, a Birmingham native who lives in Atlanta.

Welcome to the Magic City Blues Society Podcast!

In this episode you will meet Gina Coleman, the lead vocalist of The Misty Blues band, and listen to the band's music (https://www.mistybluesband.com/).

Although The Misty Blues is a Massachusetts based band, we consider them almost local, because they have visited Birmingham so many times 😊
Gina and the band have performed with Charles Neville from the legendary Neville Brothers and opened for blues staples ... Tab Benoit, John Primer, Albert Cummings and Michel Powers. Musical influences include Janis Joplin, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and Tuck & Patti.

The interview is followed by their music!
