The Awful & Awesome Entertainment Wrap

While discussing Vibe:

Abhinandan: Tell me about this film called Vibe, which you watched because Mr Khemu is in it.

Rajyasree: No, he directed it.

Abhinandan: Oh, who’s in it then?

Rajyasree: He’s also in it.

Abhinandan: Then why do you have to say no?

Rajyasree: Because I start every sentence with a no. Do you not know this?

Abhinandan: And when I pointed this out to you, what did you say?

Rajyasree: Before you, my brother had pointed it out when I was, like, 10 years old.

Abhinandan: So clearly you take feedback very seriously... and try to change.

While discussing Main Vaapas Aaunga:

Abhinandan:I couldn’t understand why Diljeet's love interest is played by Banita Sandhu. Now she is British born. She is playing an Indian but from there. So she has this British accent.

Rajyasree: A Welsh actress of Punjabi descent.

Abhinandan: I don’t know whether she is Welsh or not Welsh, she was…

Rajyasree: Welsh!

Abhinandan:She is speaking Hindi in an accent like people who would have never spoken Hindi and it’s not like Diljeet is a pendu. He can also speak English. Either make her speak English or make her speak Hindi in an accent which is not so off the charts. And why is she speaking it in the first place?

Rajyasree:But she is Welsh. Poor thing ya…

Abhinandan: Arey, then make the dialogue in English na, aunty!

Rajyasree: In this week’s good news, there is a film that is not praising Modi-ji or bashing Pakistan which is being released, we were told.

Abhinandan: Based on true events.

Rajyasree: Ya, it's based on true events though.

Abhinandan: In bad news, it is doing something that the other films are doing which is bashing Muslims.

Rajyasree: But the good news is that the Muslim in question is my favourite, Salman Khan.

Abhinandan:But in bad news none of the actors of the film seem to know that it was gonna show Salman in a bad light.

Rajyasree:But in good news we don’t know what will happen now.

Abhinandan: But in strange news, Salman says his permission was not taken to make this film.

Rajyasree: But it could be fiction, they should just say it’s pure fiction. Why does he think Kala Hiran is about him? I would’ve said, “Sir, it is not about you.”

Abhinandan: It could be about any Kala Hiran. Am I Kala or a Hiran? It could be based on you.

While discussing The Boys:

Abhinanadan:But I always wonder what the art department would be like?

Rajyasree: It would be such fun!

Abhinandan:. Like, imagine in a scene you have to kill five people, normal thing: gun, bullet, blood, ok, ready, *gun noises*, blood crops out, scene over. Now the art department: laser, brains, intestines, spleen, lungs, blood..

Rajyashree: And the eye has to pop out like that…

Abhinandan: F*ck man, the art department…

Rajyashree: But how lovely for the art department.

Abhinandan:They must be having a hall full of...

Rajyasree:Even in Game of Thrones, the things they used to show... Like, you know, a leg will come off, you can see the tendons are hanging out, and it must be such good... at least the art department has a lot to do.

While discussing Indian reality showThe Traitors:

Abhinandan: What’s the point of reviewing trash? Like what’s the point?

Rajyasree:So, the reason why I watched it is because I have seen bits and pieces ofThe Traitors UK…They’re genuinely funny, they know that it’s campy, that it’s ridiculous that they’re walking around in a cape and all…

Abhinandan:So that’s why we’re reviewing the Karan Johar version?

Rajyasree: So, I wanted to see how India has – as usual – taken a good concept, a funny concept where you’re not supposed to be serious about it, and fucked it up.

I’ve seen so much of Urvashi in the last few days, and I didn’t even know who she was…In bad news, she claimed that a temple was made for her in Badrinath.

Rajyasree: One kilometer from Badrinath. She’s even given directions in the video. In worse news, the priest there wants the police to take action because the goddess Urvashi has nothing to do with actor Urvashi.

While discussing the headlines:

Abhinandan: In good news, Udit Narayan returned to the headlines after a long absence. In bad news, it was for a viral video where he was seen strangely kissing a fan on her lips…Uditji!

Rajyasree: Now lots of videos have come out of him trying to kiss Shreya Ghoshal, Alka Yagnik. It must be terrible to have to work with him.

Abhinandan: His lips are a permanent kiss face.

Rajyasree: So scary. Just think, I’ve gone to listen to Udit Narayan and he smooches me.

Abhinandan: It’s scary that you’re going to listen to him!

This and a whole lot of awful and awesome as Abhinandan Sekhri and Rajyasree Sen discuss the movie I Want To Talk, the documentary series American Manhunt: OJ Simpson, the short film Next, Please, and the Cadbury 5 Star ad on Valentine’s Day.

While discussing the headlines:

Rajyasree: I read multiple news reports claiming that Saif’s alleged attacker came into Bengal, but had to move to Bombay because there were no job opportunities in the state. Why is a dig being made at Bengal even when…

Abhinandan: Even when you’re discussing the attack on Saif? Yes. The Aadhaar card he used also apparently was from Bengal.

Rajyasree: I read he had no Aadhaar card! See, at the moment, the best fiction writing is being carried on in these newsrooms.

Abhinandan:I haven’t even watched Juror #1.

Rajyasree: I’ll take that Nataraj pencil and put it through your eye.

Abhinandan: Juror #2is not a sequel to Juror #1? Has Juror #1 got Govinda?(proceeds to dance to a made-up Govinda-esque track)
