- 248 - Keeping the Noodles from Sticking Together in These Pandemic Times with Dr. Mary Ruwart PhD (#232)
To vaccine or not to vaccine, that has become a polarizing question.
But why is there censorship of early interventions and also of doctors writing scripts for them?
Why are we being pitted against each other?
Dr. Ruwart has been in the pharmaceutical industry for many years, run for the presidential primary on the Libertarian ticket, and is author of three books, one on how the FDA became what she thinks it is today.
This is a tell-it-like-we-think-it conversation.
Mary J. Ruwart, Ph.D. chairs a for-profit IRB and is a former research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry. She has a B.S. in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Michigan State University.
She did post-doctoral work at the St. Louis University Medical School’s Department of Surgery and became an Assistant Professor of Surgery before joining the Upjohn Company.
Science is always changing, and we are in a circumstance that is evolving, but it seems that the “narrative” of much of the media is not representing accurately both sides of the science.
Turns out there are details not widely discussed on most TV or radio shows. You will hear some of that here including:
Who is most apt to die from Covid and why. What does obesity have to do with it. Is heart damage happening more in vaccinated young adults than from Covid. Why getting two boosters a year exposes you to the “inflammatory spike” protein. The Covid spike protein binds to human tissues than any other animal the bat it derives from, and this is very unusual and makes us wonder about human gain-of-functioning engineering. We are seeing a level of censorship worldwide - bigger than we have ever seen before, even in the medical journals which are thus becoming untrustworthy now. So, in this show we ponder what is going on.Did you know that the Pfizer submission to FDA for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) is still under EUA? The full approval has been for Biotech – in this show Dr. R. discusses the difference.
You cannot have a vaccine on an EUA if there are already “early effective interventions”. Critical to keep in mind.
We discuss the veracity of VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) and why this is not being discussed, tracked, and Dr. R’s interpretation of the numbers.
Dr. Ruwart believes, teaches, and writes that “Whoever controls your body, controls your mind.”
Think, read, question, debate, learn… but stay calm. And informed.
Dr. Ruwart says, “If the vaccine works, then you don’t need to worry about an unvaccinated person. If the vaccine doesn’t work, it makes no sense to have a mandate. Especially with something so new.”
Dr. Ruwart says the research on the children 5 to 12 years old was done on a group of 2000 children. None in the experiemental nor placebo arm during this time got Covid. 5% of the children were lost to follow-up.
Is this enough safety data to inject our children? Dr. Ruwart says it is something to ponder.
We discuss blood labs to see if heart damage is occurring and suggest nutraceuticals to take prophylactically, especially in children and young adults, that may be heart-protective - if you decide that moving forward is the best way to go.
These are suggestions based on physiology, not studies.
Many studies are included below for your personal reading.

Wed, 24 Nov 2021 - 1h 14min - 247 - Breast Implant Illness with Robert Whitfield MD (#231)
Breast implants are a very popular surgery, especially for re-construction after breast cancer. Dr. Whitfield is an experienced, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in oncologic breast reconstruction.
But he was also the doctor to discover that some cases of autoimmunity, chronic fatigue, cognitive decline… start in contaminated breast implants!
Dr. Whitfiled completed six years of surgical training at Indiana University Medical Center. Then a Plastic Surgery Residency. And then a Fellowship in Microsurgery and Aesthetic under Dr. William Zamboni.
Dr. Whitfield began to have patients that were experiencing systemic illness, and when he removed their implants, called an “explant” procedure, he found identifiable pathogens in the tissue capsule. Treating these infections got rid of many of these systemic problems, such as chronic fatigue.
This lead Dr. Whitfield to start to add more services for his clients, including nutritional and nutraceutical advice as well as personal genetic predisposition screening.
Dr. Whitfield has completed over 4000 breast procedures since 2004 including over 500 implant removals.
He has the largest series of explant specimens with PCR testing. This tests the genetic sequences of pathogens, so is a highly sensitive test to identify “stealth” infections and find their appropriate medications to eradicate them.
While serving as the President Elect of the Research Foundation Dr. Whitfiled also gave testimony at the FDA hearings in 2019 regarding Breast Implant iIlness (BII).

Fri, 24 Sep 2021 - 52min - 243 - Testosterone Mythology Debunked with Dr. Abraham Morgentaler (#227)
We live in a polemic world of clashing misinformation. Especially about hormones. Including testosterone.
Too many men are taken off Testosterone (T) if they get a diagnosis of prostate cancer or heart disease even though the science shows otherwise. Today’s interview is with Dr. Abraham Morgentaler, Harvard urologist and world expert on Testosterone, who has done much of this science.
This is a must hear conversation on hormones and health that you will want to share with your physicians and patients.
Dr. Abraham MorgentalerAbraham Morgentaler, MD is an international authority on men’s health and a pioneer in the treatment of testosterone deficiency in men. Dr. Morgentaler’s research is credited with reversing the decades-old belief that testosterone therapy is risky for prostate cancer.
Dr. Morgentaler graduated from Harvard College in 1978 and Harvard Medical School in 1982. He completed his residency in 1988 through the Harvard Program in Urology, and then joined the faculty of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. He is currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery (Urology) at Harvard Medical School.
In 1999, Dr. Morgentaler founded Men's Health Boston, the first center in the US to focus on sexual, reproductive, and hormonal health for men.
Dr. Morgentaler was the recipient of the New Investigator Award in 1994 granted by the American Foundation of Urological Disease.
PublicationsDr. Morgentaler has published over 120 scientific articles on testosterone, prostate cancer, male sexual dysfunction, and male infertility.
His work has appeared in The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, The Journal of the American Medical Association, Cancer, and The American Journal of Medicine.
He is the author of the book Why Men Fake It: The Totally Unexpected Truth About Men and Sex, which has been widely hailed as a groundbreaking exploration of male sexuality. Dr. Morgentaler’s other books include Testosterone For Life: Recharge Your Vitality, Sex Drive, Muscle Mass, and Overall Health, and The Viagra Myth: The Surprising Impact on Love and Relationships.
In this show you will learn: That T does NOT drive prostate cancer. How this myth started and has incorrectly affected medicine for 80 years. The known and unknown symptoms of low T. The issue with just looking at total testosterone and why you must run “free testosterone” and also “SHBG”. What lizards and men have in common? The unappreciated role of hormones in overall health and why so often our doctors don’t realize this or take this into consideration when treating us. Mon, 13 Sep 2021 - 1h 16min - 242 - Early Intervention Statistics with Dr. George C Fareed (#226)
Dr. George Fareed
Dr. George Fareed is a Harvard trained medical doctor who started out working in virology with Dr. Fauci at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases early in his career.
Then Dr. Fareed wanted to help the “underserved” and moved from Washington to east of San Diego. This is a highly agricultural area and the residents are mainly of Hispanic descent with a high incidence of health issues that often make them much more vulnerable to severe viral disease.
In this population, Dr. Fareed and his colleague, Dr. Brian Tyson, have treated over 7,000 cases of this virus.
Their patient population have a high incidences of type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure and metabolic syndrome. Remember, these are the very “co-morbidities” that increase the risk of severe cases in the pandemic.
Dr. Fareed utilizes “early intervention” as described in the article just published by himself and a number of esteemed medical colleagues below.
At the end of August 2021The national average of being treated in the typical manner, translated into a 9% hospitalization rate if you are over 60 years of age. And if you are under 50 years old, the hospitalization rate is 0.4%.
Dr. Fareed’s office had a statistician come in and track the efficacy of his protocol on the first 4,500 patients. The hospitalization rate for Dr. Fareed’s patients who received early treatment was only 0.07%!
So… his protocols are keeping vulnerable patients out of hospitals.
The question becomes, “Why is early intervention being censored? Not available? Why are Doctors who talk and write about early treatment worried they might have to go before their medical board?”
What is NextDr. Fareed is leaving to go to the Rome Covid World Summits in a few weeks and will come back on the show to share what was discussed by viral experts around the world.
Keep an eye out for Dr. Fareed's upcoming book talking about his journey in the treatment of pandemic patients.

Wed, 01 Sep 2021 - 51min - 241 - Safe Pain Alternatives and Regenerative Medicine with Dr. David Harris MD (#225)
Looking for Safe Options for Severe Pain
When you are in severe pain what are your safest options? How do you not become worse down the road from short-term fixes? Consider regenerative medicine.
My Personal ExperienceA few months ago, I was supposed to fly from Austin, Texas to Houston to give an 8-hour continuing medical education, all-day class, for physicians.
But a few days before all this, I woke up with my right leg so, in pain, I could not walk let alone stand!
I called Dr. David Harris, a Board-Certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Board-Certified Pain Medicine specialist, who specializes in safe regenerative procedures.
Usually, Dr. Harris is booked for up to 9 months, but there was an atypical cancellation.
Most patients would get a steroid epidural. But as we age, we get more complicated. As I have shared before, I have an eye condition that cannot handle steroids.
Thus, Dr. Harris, a pain “whisperer” (but all based in science), created a safer alternative epidural made of ozone, B12, sterile homeopathic Traumel, with a dash of steroid.
I was then able to fly, stand and lecture all day, and go on to live my regular life without pain or disability.
It all happened at Dr. Harris’s clinic called “Charm”: The Center for Healing and Regenerative Medicine. They provide “non-surgical” answers for pain that help joints heal without making them worse in the long run, as repetitive steroid treatments have now been shown to do. (If you watch this interview on YouTube, that’s the table where it happened.)
Dr. David K. Harris is a physiatrist in Austin, Texas. Physiatrists are physicians who specialize in helping patients with disabilities. Without surgery. Their focus is rehabilitation, restoration of function, and a return to a high quality of life.
The clinic offers prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma, and stem cell injections. Dr. Harris’s wife is a physical therapist, so this is one-stop shopping. Their PA, Michelle Hall is a superb practitioner, too.
I witnessed first-hand how helpful this medicine can be. Ten years ago I referred a 60-year-old man with half his rotator cuff missing, who had not been able to move his arm for 6 months. All other doctors insisted that his only option was to have surgery. Shoulder surgery is not for the faint of heart. With very long recovery times.
Dr. Harris, avoiding surgery, performed his special medical regenerative injections. Within three months, that man’s shoulder was as good as new and continues to be up to today. All without painful, expensive surgery or drugs. There are only about 187 doctors nationally who do what Dr. Harris has learned to do, and many of these doctors have been trained by Dr. Harris.
Got pain? Consider regenerative medicine and the Charm clinic in Austin, Texas.

Mon, 02 Aug 2021 - 1h 01min - 237 - Telemedicine’s Inventor & Kidney Doctor - Dr. Jack W. Moncrief (#221)
Jack W. Moncrief, MD
Dr. Moncrief has been in practice almost 50 years and was honored as one of the 7 physicians that made kidney medicine what it is today. In this show you will learn why and get in on a great conversation between colleagues and old friends.
Dr. Moncrief and Dr. Berkson worked together in his clinic and dialysis center for almost 10 years. Both, together with Dr. Kenneth Burton, co-invented and worked on a combination drug/herb pharmaceutical and published original research shown below.
Listen to Learn
In this show you will learn how telemedicine got its start with an Austin kidney doctor wanting to do dialysis in faraway cities. By the nephrologist Dr. Jack Moncrief. Dr. Moncrief was the firsts doctor to do organ transplantation, dialysis, and dialysis in an infant, here in Texas.
You hear about kidney health as well as how to treat brown recluse spider bites, so it doesn’t become an acute medical emergency requiring surgeries and wound care. You also hear about nitroglycerin and its application in medicine.
Also amazing is that Dr. Moncrief is still “seeing” patients, though mostly over telemedicine. But not all. So if you have any kidney issues that you need a set of truly experienced eyes on, you may want to reach out to him.

Acute effects of hemodialysis on nitrite and nitrate: potential cardiovascular implications in dialysis patientsNathan S Bryan 1, Ashley C Torregrossa, Asad I Mian, D Lindsey Berkson, Christian M Westby, Jack W Moncrief
Cardiovascular mortality in dialysis patients remains a serious problem. It is 10 to 20 times higher than in the general population. No molecular mechanism has been proven to explain this increased mortality, although nitric oxide (NO) has been implicated. The objective of our study was to determine the extent of the removal of the NO congeners nitrite and nitrate from plasma and saliva by hemodialysis, as this might disrupt physiological NO bioactivity and help explain the health disparity in dialysis patients. Blood and saliva were collected at baseline from patients on dialysis and blood was collected as it exited the dialysis unit. Blood and saliva were again collected after 4-5h of dialysis. In the 27 patients on dialysis, baseline plasma nitrite and nitrate by HPLC were 0.21±0.03 and 67.25±14.68 μM, respectively. Blood immediately upon exit from the dialysis unit had 57% less nitrite (0.09±0.03 μM; P=0.0008) and 84% less nitrate (11.04 μM; P=0.0003). After 4-5h of dialysis, new steady-state plasma levels of nitrite and nitrate were significantly lower than baseline, 0.09±0.01 μM (P=0.0002) and 16.72±2.27 μM (P=0.001), respectively. Dialysis also resulted in a significant reduction in salivary nitrite (232.58±75.65 to 25.77±10.88 μM; P=0.01) and nitrate (500.36±154.89 to 95.08±24.64 μM; P=0.01). Chronic and persistent depletion of plasma and salivary nitrite and nitrate probably reduces NO bioavailability and may explain in part the increased cardiovascular mortality in the dialysis patient.
Tue, 06 Jul 2021 - 47min - 236 - Vitamin E, Tocotrienols & Introducing Annatto with Dr. Barrie Tan (#220)
Dr. Barrie Tan
Dr. Barrie Tan is a Ph.D. in chemistry and biochemistry. Dr. Tan is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on Vitamin E.
Vitamin E is not regarded as so sexy or trendy. But it has 8 family members, 4 that are tocopherols and 4 that are tocotrienols.
And boy, has Dr. Tan’s many decades of research unveiled the healing aspect of tocotrienols. And the healing aspect of an Amazon plant, the annatto plant, that contains 100% tocotrienols.
The Beginning
The story all starts with the Amazonian annatto plant (Bixa Orellana) that was discovered by Francesco de Orellana (in the 1550s) and continues in the 1700s when the British called it the ‘lipstick plant’ to today where Estee Lauder uses it in their lip products.
The red oil from the annatto seed is used as a natural coloring in cheeses like cheddar, and is found in other foods like ice cream, meats, crackers, salad dressing, tortilla chips, even mac and cheese but.. it even helps fight cancer.
One of the successful human trials that Dr. Tan has done is on ovarian cancer.
In this show you will learn the dosage and the delivery mode of annatto-E. And why perhaps you might even consider it as an addition to your daily nutraceuticals.
Check it out! I am adding this to my dailies!

Dr. Peter McCullough is a practicing internist and cardiologist and Professor of Medicine at Texas A & M College of Medicine. Dr. McCullough has broadly published on a range of topics in medicine with > 1000 publications and > 600 citations in the National Library of Medicine.
He testified in front of the Texas State Senate in March of 2021 that our battle against the pandemic is missing “early intervention”. On November 19, 2020, Dr. McCullough also testified in the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs concerning early ambulatory treatment of high-risk patients with COVID-19.
Dr. Peter McCullough has become an expert on Covid-19. He believes that Covid is treatable with a combination of medications, especially if those medications are started early while the disease is still mild. He shares what can we do at home (along with a smart doctor’s help) to avoid ending up in the ER or ICU. In our conversation you will hear the protocol details that diverse doctors around the world are successfully using.
Dr. McCullough feels that there have been “world-wide” blunders in how Covid has been addressed by governments around the globe.
In this show you will learn: Who are the best candidates for the vaccine? Who may not be safe candidates for the vaccine? What combination of medications help Covid at what stages of the illness and info your doctors should know about. About retracted papers on hydroxychloroquine and why the previously prestigious Lancet has lost some of its prestige. About randomized trials on Ivermectin but issues with the ones the WHO held as highest. What nutrients are helpful, though not curative, a list you need to know! The controversy of “durable antibodies”. Who is really guilty of “flawed thinking” and who is not?And more!

Mon, 12 Apr 2021 - 1h 08min - 229 - Blue Light & Your Eyes, Macular Degeneration, Nutrients & More - Rani Banik, MD (#213)
Screen time and prolonged exposure to unhealthy blue light has skyrocketed over the past year as we’ve all been stuck inside during the pandemic. We’ve developed new habits that aren’t likely to change as we get back to our older lives.
So, how can we protect our eyes against blue light exposure and the growing risk of macular degeneration?
In this show you learn the top 4 answers:- Proper nutrition Supplementation Blue blocking glasses, and Screen filters
Too many ophthalmologists and optometrists leave “nutrition” and “life-style” out of their conversations with patients.
Too much health care is reactive. Most people don’t think of their eyes till they face an emergency.
Dr. Rani wants you and your loved ones to start protecting their eye future, now.

In this show you hear two old friends and colleagues talk about the early beginnings of functional medicine. And the nutraceutical industry.
In this show you will learn:
How and why, Jonathan Rothchild decided to open up one of the first nutraceutical companies. And why cater to ultra-sensitive person and unique needs. Fat soluble thiamin, why it is so helpful with cognitive issues. Time-release niacin and its role in keeping lipids safe. You will want to buy only organic citrus at the moment. Why?
Two hormone-disrupting fungicides “imazalil” and “thiabendazole were detected on nearly 90 percent of non-organic citrus fruit samples in tests commissioned by the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Both chemicals are linked to higher incidences of childhood cancers.
The highest levels of imazalil and thiabendazole were found on mandarins, including clementine’s, followed by oranges and then grapefruit.
You will want to mainly eat organic kale. Why? Inorganic kale has now been put third on the list of the EWG’s dirty dozen worst polluting foods.

Mon, 22 Mar 2021 - 1h 02min - 226 - Scariants, Variants – What’s Up With Covid? (#210)
In this show you will learn:
Variants of highest concern are infectious, virulent, and evade human immune surveillance. The more people that get Covid, the more we are exposed to new variants. The UK variant, called the “Kent Variant” is more infectious and more virulent and may be a hide-and-seek new “strain” that can make more numbers of people ill, with increasing fatality rates, too. Not everyone has access to” functional interventions”, or doctors to order them (like Ivermectin, nutrients and even nebulized glutathione) so… we need a variety of protective actions. Many states are relaxing mitigation strategies, which is not the best approach right now because "we may be facing our biggest challenge yet" with the UK variant. And… perhaps… more scariant, variants to come.Vaccines are not the only answer. But they not only boost antibody production, they also educate your B and T cells to be able to address new mutations.
If the antibody production didn’t work, the memory in your immune system is great “back-up”.
Scientifically this means: Vaccines produce two measurable responses (aside from clinical outcome) -- neutralizing antibody titers plus t-cell reactivity.
What is clear is that the longer millions of people are infected, the more mutations there will be. We refer to some of these mutations as scariant, as they are becoming more virulent on a variety of levels and already we are closing in on 550,000 Americans having died from Covid. At the same time learning that certain states have “under-count” these cases.
While we wait for new vaccine supplies, experts suggest we should consider alternative vaccination plans: Get more people vaccinated, including delaying the second dose to 6-8 weeks after the first; giving a single dose to people with prior COVID-19 infection; and giving a half-dose of the Moderna vaccine.
We need to get up on what else is helpful that we can do in our own homes.
Science is building a great case that Vitamin D blood levels effect your COVID outcomes. Vitamin D levels over 30 ng/mL are linked to less severe cases of COVID while blood levels under 12 ng/mL are linked to higher risk of ending up in the ICU and intubated.
Take Vitamin D. Know your level. Work with your savvy practitioner on this if you need to.
Avoid high-fructose corn syrup. It inactivates vitamin D even if you supplement or hang out in the sun.
Eat well. Rest well. Take protective nutrients that we have discussed in other shows (such as zinc, melatonin, Vitamin A, N-acetylcysteine, resveratrol) and more.
Vaccines are only part of the way to stop this pandemic, which is presently 5 times more fatal than the flu. But this is the statistical virulence and fatality rate of the original mutations, not the newer more scariant ones.
Wed, 17 Mar 2021 - 49min - 225 - Berkson's Bits and Pieces (#209)
In this show you will learn:
How much alcohol consumption is safe (especially after age 40). Asthmatics get a leg up with COVID. Urinary Tract Infections to-do’s and not to-do’s. Issues with plastic toys and cancer in your kids.We also discuss the frustrations and fears that the pandemic has uncovered. We share Jeff Foster’s “The Exquisite Risk of Being Human”.
You will also learn what brain derived neurotrophic factors are, how they relate to anti-depressants, and how hormones like estrogen and progesterone play a role in “neurotrophins”.
Mon, 08 Mar 2021 - 44min - 224 - The Gut Microbiome & Covid with Dr. Leo Galland (#208)
Dr. Galland is a pioneer in studying the impact of intestinal microbes (the gut microbiome) and overall health, especially with excessive gut wall permeability (“leaky gut”).
A graduate of Harvard University and New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Galland is board-certified in internal medicine listed in the Leading Physicians of the World and America’s Top Doctors.
In this show, Dr Galland explains what types of dysbiosis may lead to increased vulnerabilities of getting COVID-19. And, conversely, how Covid might adversely affect the gut microbiome.
Dr. Galland explains and names, which nutraceuticals and probiotics may protect against getting COVID and may reduce severity of cases once you contract it..
Dr. Galland discusses specific “nasal sprays” that are being investigated and can be prescribed and compounded by compounding pharmacists. These prevent infection and may be used by people who need to continue to work jobs of high exposure such as teachers, students and those like Dr. Berkson that have to continue to travel. They are safe even for children.
Dr. Galland gives the exact formula for a mouth wash you can make at home to help if you get infected.
In this show you hear an in-depth discussion on how Covid gets into the body, what molecules the protein uses to adhere to ACE receptors, and how “heparin” may be a key in protection from kids to adults.
Heparin is inexpensive, safe and a “heparin nasal spray” is coming commercially within a year, being researched by the University of Massachusetts. In this show you are guided as to where you can get the specific formula (for free) to your physician to get a script if they agree to it.
You also hear an in-depth, scientific discussion on vaccines.
Learn which companies are making the vaccines available for no profit to themselves, what are the differences between the companies, and who is acting in greedy ways and how.
This is a “must-hear” and “must-not miss” show.
Please, pass this show on to help others and our planet as well.

Fri, 26 Feb 2021 - 1h 24min - 223 - To Vaccine, or Not To Vaccine? That is the question. (#207)
Sanity is a precious thing. There are so many divergent yet “loud” commentaries and opinions on vaccines, this divergence is threatening much of our sanity as well as humanity. (Boy… that rhymed)!
Dale Harrison is a senior biotech executive with more than 20 years of experience in research physics and the biotech industry. Mr. Harrison is currently working with companies developing new clinical diagnostic platforms such as developing a CRISPR-based Covid over-the-counter test.
Thus, Mr. Harrison has been writing, researching, and assessing what is going on with Covid, and Covid vaccines.
In this show you will learn:
What is an mRNA vaccine?
The difference between a “sterilizing vaccine” (measles vaccine) vs. a “non-sterilizing vaccine” (COVID vaccines).
How vaccines offer “disease immunity” and what this means for your risk of dying from Covid.
The statistical risk of dying from Covid (in 2021) in those 15 -year old's and older.
The risks in people with serious autoimmune diseases of getting COVID vs. getting the vaccine.
Why there is so much inaccurate vaccine information out in “cyber space” even by top physicians and Nobel Laureate winners.
Dale’s take on what happened to the elderly that died in Norway post-vaccine.
Why you need to wait 90 days after having COVID before you can safely get the vaccine.
Which vaccine does he think we should avoid?
Once you get the vaccine… then what?
Will we still need “mitigating behaviors” after getting the vaccine?
How will these behaviors be different from mitigating behaviors pre-vaccine?
Dale and Dr. B agree to disagree on Lysosomotropic agents.
How to safely go back to dense activity sports, like the gym or dancing, once you have been vaccinated. Or not.
Molecular mimicry beyond the respiratory tract, a nuance of Covid.
If we drop all mitigation efforts, even with full vaccine compliance, Dale discusses how the virus will go fully endemic and almost everyone will catch Covid-19 once or twice a year. There will possibly be many more deaths, unless we as a country are guided in nutrients, easy to use at home anti-virals, and more education on keeping our personal immune systems healthy.

Risk of CRC is increased 30% for women undergoing hysterectomy with both ovaries removed; increased risk of 24% if no ovaries are removed (as often hormones do not work optimally after hysterectomy even if ovaries are left in) The risk of CRC after oophorectomy gradually increases with age at surgery. Risk is increased( 66% ) within first 4 years after surgery. This suggests that women with susceptibility genes for ovarian cancer or metrocarcinoma are candidates for oophorectomy or hysterectomy, but women “not” at high risk for these cancers, should be careful about oophorectomies or hysterectomies, and especially life style choices within the first 5 years after surgery should they get it. Health benefits of the “forgotten estrogen” – estriol, especially for autoimmune illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, etc. The unappreciated role of “natural estriol” in protecting the “central nervous system” by binding to estrogen receptors in the immune system, brain, and the spinal cord. Today’s world is stressful for everyone that owns a brain. This show describes a FREE, EASY and FAST way to retrain your brain to de-stress. This method is called “Binaural Beat”. (Sometimes referred to as Binaural Beat Therapy.)
With a few 20-minute sessions, you can get your brain to relax - as if you were a seasoned meditator. You can use your smart headphones or simply buy some inexpensive headphones, to be used along with a free app on your phone.
In this show you will learn:
What are “Binaural Beats” What Binaural Beats do inside your brain How Binaural Beats can calm your brain or intensify your orgasms (referred to in this way as “mindgasms”) The safety of Binaural Beats and who should NOT use it. How your brain “beats” and “sounds” when you are in deep sleep, in state of calm, in a state of agitation and in a tantric state. How the concept of Binaural Beats has been used in war and in peace marches. Mike and Dr. Lindsey waxing on about the “dog beach” they visited yesterday and what it means to be in “sync” with someone. What is brain “entrainment” and how it affects you, your relationships and your brain. And, in addition, Why and how melatonin protects you against “getting” Covid and “reduces complications from COVID” even in the ICU.Any headphone works. The ones that have cushioning on the sides minimize bone conduction to brain sound, so it gives the most optimal effect. But you don’t have to use cushioned headphones, this is just an explanation of why they are the top of the line for these purposes.

Mon, 17 Aug 2020 - 53min - 201 - Hormones and Covid (#185)
The world is experiencing a pandemic from COVID-19. So research is looking at every which way various physiologic states might be protective or increase vulnerability.
Across the world males seem more susceptible, compared to women (especially premenopausal women) to getting COVID. Once they get it, they are more susceptible to severe outcomes as well as fatalities, once again compared to younger women.
It has been suggested that estrogen may be protective against COVID-19 in females and/or that androgens (like testosterone) worsen COVID-19 in men.
As of this date, there are three studies being done giving males and menopausal females "estrogen" and/or "progesterone" replacement as it "may" be protective against COVID-19.
In This Show You will Hear About Estrogen
Is estrogen protective against COVID? Estrogen signals are critical in both innate and adaptive immune responses as well as in tissue repairing processes during respiratory virus infection. Estrogens can regulate the expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), a key component for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) cell entry. So estrogen may play a role as a protective COVID “gate-keeper”. The paper that discusses this is: Estrogen regulates the expression of SARS-CoV-2 receptor ACE2 in differentiated airway epithelial cells. Am J Physiol Lung Cell Mol Physiol. 2020;318(6):L1280-L1281. doi:10.1152/ajplung.00153.2020 In animal experiments, estrogen treatment silences the inflammatory reactions and decreases virus titers leading to improved survival rate. One article even said stated in it abstract, “Premarin (commercial patented estrogen from horse’s urine) is capable of stopping the COVID-19 pandemic.” (Prevention and therapy of COVID-19 via exogenous estrogen treatment for both male and female patients. J Pharm Pharm Sci. 2020;23(1):75-85. doi:10.18433/jpps31069) Estrogen (and progesterone) may be helpful as "anti-COVID-19 agents" for people with a high risk of cell stress like the elderly, cancer patients, and front-line medical staff. Doctors at the Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University in New York are conducting a randomized trial to determine if the use of a “transdermal estrogen patch” for 7 days in patients with COVID-19 might reduce the need for intubation in men and older women infected with COVID-19.What About Progesterone?
Many of the sickest patients with COVID-19 have high levels of immune system proteins called cytokines in their blood. “Cytokine storm” is an overactive immune response to a viral infection and is one of the most devastating complications of COVID-19 infections. Cytokine storms are known to happen in autoimmune diseases. One study of patients who died of H1N1 influenza, for example, found that 81% had features of a cytokine storm. Researchers have looked at the anti-inflammatory properties of progesterone. Pregnant women, who usually have high levels of progesterone, tend to have milder courses of COVID-19. A new study will assess the use of a short course of progesterone therapy in hospitalized men diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. What About Androgens?
In January, one of the first publications on those sickened by the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China, reported that three out of every four hospitalized patients were male. But many men in China smoke while women don’t, so it wasn’t completely known if androgens (male hormones) were the issue, or smoking. But data from around the world have since confirmed that men face a greater risk of severe illness and death from COVID-19 than women. Androgens—male hormones such as testosterone—appear to boost the virus’ ability to get inside cells. Preliminary observations from Spain suggest that a disproportionate number of men with male pattern baldness—which is linked to a powerful androgen—end up in hospitals with COVID-19. Epidemiological data from around the world have confirmed the early reports of male vulnerability. In Lombardy in Italy, for example, men comprised 82% of 1591 patients admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) from 20 February to 18 March, according to a JAMA paper. And male mortality exceeded that of women in every adult age group in another JAMA study of 5700 New York City patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Several studies link baldness to higher risk of COVID and more severe cases. Baldness is associated with higher levels of the most aggressive metabolites of testosterone (DHT). Two small studies have reported that men with male pattern baldness are overrepresented among hospitalized COVID-19 patients.A paper by Markus Hoffmann of the Leibniz Institute for Primate Research and colleagues in CELL, sent a lightning bolt through scientific community.
This work showed Covid can gain entry into the body more easily by the action of an enzyme called TMPRSS2, a membrane-bound enzyme. The enzyme cleaves the “spike” protein on the coronavirus’ surface, allowing the virus to fuse with the host cell’s membrane and get inside the cell. Male hormones turn this enzyme on.
In the prostate, TMPRSS2 is produced when male hormones bind to the androgen receptor.
Researchers haven’t established if androgens control TMPRSS2 in the lungs as they have in the prostate. But Andrea Alimonti, head of molecular oncology at Università della Svizzera italiana, looked at data on more than 42,000 men with prostate cancer in Italy. He and colleagues found that patients on androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT)—drugs that slash levels of testosterone—were only one-quarter as likely to contract COVID-19 as men with prostate cancer not on ADT. Men on ADT were also less likely to be hospitalized and to die.
In one Italian study, men with prostate cancer who received drugs that suppress androgens were much less likely to be infected with COVID.
Prostate cancer researcher Catherine Marshall of Johns Hopkins University is preparing a trial of bicalutamide, an older, inexpensive androgen receptor blocker, in 20 patients hospitalized within 3 days after they tested positive for COVID-19.
Women are being included in the trial, she adds, because they have androgens, too, although at lower levels than men.
What You will Learn Overall
Estrogens help heal acute lung injury. Progesterone tamps down inflammatory cytokines. Androgens might help the virus’s spike protein take grip inside the body. But does this mean high androgens compared to healthy normal levels? We don’t know yet. Drugs ( finasteride and dutasteride) that block the conversion of testosterone to DHT, the most powerful form of testosterone, seem to reduce ACE2 levels in healthy human lung alveolar cells. Androgen sensitivity would explain severe cases in female patients who present with metabolic syndrome or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or who are using birth control methods that include the use of hormones that bind to an androgen receptor (such as levonorgestrel and norethisterone). There is a lot we don’t know, but in this show you will hear the latest about the link between hormones and COVID!

Mon, 03 Aug 2020 - 58min - 199 - Safe, Natural Contraception with Susan Caldwell, MD (#183)
Regular medicine is failing women.
For many health issues from irregular periods to acne to PCOS, doctors pass out oral contraception (oral contraceptives) like M&M’s. The “pill” is good at stopping symptoms. But they do not address the “root cause” of what initiated the symptoms. And they can have downstream adverse effects as they are made up of endocrine disrupting synthetic hormones.
Birth control pills (oral contraception) contains synthetic hormones. These synthetic hormones can damage our own home-made hormones. The pill often contains synthetic estrogens (ethinyl estradiol) and synthetic progesterone’s (progestins). All have been found to have endocrine disrupting actions.
For example, it’s clearly been shown that women on oral contraceptives have more tendency to experience anxiety, poor partner choices, more divorce, migraines, and even inflammatory bowel disease in women with genetic glitches. Much of this occurs from the endocrine disrupting action of these endocrine disruptors, or by their blockage of healthy hormone protection in various tissues, like your precious gut wall.
The driving answer becomes, what are safe alternatives?
This show discuses new ways for women to know their bodies and fertility. This knowledge can be used to enhance fertility and also to master drug-free, safe contraception.
Dr. Susan Caldwell is a rare bird of a physician. She is double-board certified in internal medicine (the thinkers of medicine) and pediatrics (the heart of medicine). She is smart plus heart.
Dr. Caldwell got inspired by the work of Thomas W. Hilgers, MD. This works comes out of the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction and the National Center for Women's Health in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Caldwell, to add this work to her practice, became a Certified Naprotechnology Medical Consultant. This form of consulting helps get to the “root” of health issues, like progesterone insufficiency may be causing your irregular bleeding or leaky gut in PCOS patients.
Naprotechnology also give answers for safe and natural birth control.
This dynamic but heart-felt conversation will help many women on their journey to self-awareness, natural birth control, and to ways to decrease adverse side effects of the pill, should you need to stay on it.

Mon, 27 Jul 2020 - 1h 04min - 198 - Melatonin and Viruses (#182)
Melatonin is a versatile molecule.
Melatonin is synthesized by the pineal gland in the brain. But it’s not widely known that melatonin is such an important hormone. It’s made all throughout the body—in the gastrointestinal tract, retina, thymus, bone marrow, and by white blood cells called leukocytes.
Besides regulating sleep and our relationship with light and dark, melatonin wears a lot of other hats.
Melatonin is a power anti-oxidant, hormone protector and up-regulator of critical molecules like glutathione.
One important emerging role for melatonin is its huge influence over our immune system functions.
In this show you will learn.
The role of melatonin in fighting viruses. What’s the melatonergic pathway. Uses of melatonin in COVID. Dose spectrum? Types of supplements. Melatonin as a natural aromatase inhibitor. And more.A good night's sleep will definitely put an energetic lilt our steps. Why? Pineal melatonin (the melatonin made in the brain) regulates mitochondrial melatonin. This runs your energy.
Healthy nocturnal release of melatonin makes your immune system respond healthfully and resiliently.
You’ve heard a lot about how cytokine storms drive very serious responses to COVID. Melatonin helps prevent this and in some cases is being explored to help treat this.
Cytokine storms damage the gut wall. It becomes excessively permeable (leaky gut). Then, more bad than good bacteria and gut-wall damage occur. Nasty damaging molecules (LPS) cross the gut wall. Then this person becomes more and more vulnerable to a severe response to COVID.
This is a show that will give you a lot more helpful insight especially at this time.
Mon, 20 Jul 2020 - 37min - 197 - Hope and Global Opportunity with Spiritual Mystic, Religious Scholar and Amazing Human: Andrew Harvey (#181)
This is a show of reality. You will hear a dialogue of what is going on deep inside humanity’s psyche. In this profoundly healing and inspirational show, Mr. Andrew Harvey shares what the human race is collectively facing during this time of global pandemic and uncertainty.
In 2012, Mr. Harvey was nominated for the Templeton Prize, eventually awarded to the Dalai Lama, a spiritual colleague and life-long friend of Mr. Harvey’s.
Both Mr. Harvey and the Dalai Lama feel humanity is at a cross-roads: extinction or transformation. In this show you learn what these two paths look like and the how’s and why’s needed for humanity to save itself.
Much of humanity has been continually run by greed, money and narcissism. Priorities of profit and power have shadowed humanity’s future or social injustices. The planet, air and water upon which humanity survives, continues to be polluted for power, greed and self-service.
Now is the time for change… or suffer.
Now is the time to make “hope come true”.
Mr. Harvey had been honored as one of the 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People in 2012. Andrew has authored over 40 books including The Hope, A Guide to Sacred Activism, The Direct Path.
Andrew Harvey is Founder and Director of The Institute of Sacred Activism, an international organization focused on inviting concerned people to take up the challenge of our contemporary global crises by becoming inspired, effective, and practical agents of institutional and systemic change, in order to create peace and sustainability.
Sacred Activism, started by Mr. Harvey, is a transforming force of compassion-in-action that is born of a fusion of deep spiritual knowledge, courage, and love, together with wise radical action in the world.

Mon, 06 Jul 2020 - 45min - 196 - COVID is Not a Hoax – Debunking Conspiracy Theories (#180)
COVID-19 is not the flu. When folks get ill with COVID-19, it can last a lot longer and adverse effects can linger for months or even years. If folks get ill enough and end up on a ventilator in the ICU, this experience can last a lot longer with more severe issues in and out of the hospital. Someone with COVID can transmit the illness, even if they don’t know they have it, for much longer than the flu. The flu mostly damages the lungs while COVID-19 can travel through the blood causing issues in the gut, kidneys, brain and even the vestibular system which keeps us centered in mind, body and space.
In this show you will learn:
Why fever may not be the best indicator of COVID in folks over 70 with COVID. What frontline docs especially worry about. How COVID is a blood-clotting illness and which blood type is more prone to blood clots. What you can do at home to naturally vs. pharmaceutically, ward off excess “fibrinogen” a substance that can boost the risk of blood clots. What natural products are helpful and at what dosages. Why you should wear a mask. Why some folks don’t believe in COVID as a viral reality. And so much more like the peer-review citation of the peer review nurse’s article illustrating all the studies that support mask protection.

However, if you understand more about why your cardiovascular system is ill, for example if you have some faulty cardiac genes, or a chamber is faulty and causing “nocturnal” hypertension, then you often can fix it. Especially if you work with a doctor that understands the heart from these points of view.
Enter center stage. Dr. Mark Houston. Dr. Houston is renowned as the “iconic functional cardiologist” who put functional cardiology on the map.
Functional cardiology looks for “root causes” of hypertension and heart disease, such as the specific molecules that create heart damage. The patient is then guided toward making improvements in lifestyle, sleep, blood pressure throughout 24/hours, diet and medications to bring them back to heart health once again.
Dr. Houston created the only “functional cardiology certification course” for medical doctors taught at A4M, the Anti-Aging Certification Course. He teaches all 24-hours himself. Dr. Houston has authored a number of textbooks for cardiologists as well as books for everyday patients.
The Hypertension Institute in Nashville, where Dr. Berkson goes for her look-see heart health exams is run by Dr. Houston. Dr. Houston is tripled boarded in hypertension as an American Society of Hypertension (ASH) specialist and Fellow of the American Society of Hypertension (FASH), Internal Medicine (ABIM) and Anti-aging medicine (ABAARM).
Nutrition is a subject taken seriously by Dr. Houston. He has a master’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut and a Master of Science degree in Functional and Metabolic Medicine from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Dr. Houston was an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Dr. Houston has spent his life learning how to figure out the “root cause” of heart disease and high blood pressure and how to individualize natural answers to keep us living longer, healthier and on less medications.
In this show you will learn:
Differences between blood pressure medications. Which ones do not work very well. Why many patients just don’t get better and what we can do about it. Molecules of mass destruction that “drive” heart disease and how to test and naturally treat these. What is “nocturnal hypertension” and why should your doctor test for this. And more.Dr. Houston and Dr. Berkson are colleagues and both are professors for A4M so this conversation is between friends as well as agile thinkers.
You will learn how Dr. Houston’s approach integrates the whole person‚ mind, body and spirit. You will be surprised at the in-depth manner in which his team evaluates the heart, the lining of your blood vessels and even blood pressure analysis.

Mon, 18 May 2020 - 1h 02min - 191 - Organic Food & Gardening with Eliot Coleman (#175)
What is Organic?
We hear a lot about organic foods these days. What are they? Are organic foods from Whole Foods, farmers’ markets, Walmart, and the organic food section of your local grocery store all the same?
What is soil biome and what does healthy microbial life in soil have to do with the biomes in our colon, lungs, or sinuses?
How do plants direct which nutrients “gather round their roots” to create the heathiest microbial life?
Eliot Coleman answers these questions in his interview with Dr. Berkson, an interview between two long-time friends.
Eliot Coleman and Four Seasons Farm
Eliot Coleman is an American organic farmer, author, researcher and educator. Eliot along with Scott Nearing, PhD, is credited with helping farmers and all of us become aware of authentic organic gardening: what it is, how it benefits life, and how the FDA has sold out to big Agra lobbies . . . even when it comes to organic labeling. OMG! It’s just like medicine! His book, The New Organic Grower, is a “bible” for organic farmers, especially those who sell to our food markets.
Coleman has been gardening since the Sixties, when he bought 60 acres of land from Scott Nearing for $33 an acre and turned it into Four Seasons Farms. The farm is in Penopscott Bay, an inlet of the Gulf of Maine and the Atlantic Ocean, in south central Maine. Coleman’s gardens produce 50 different vegetables, even artichokes. He grows them “just to make the Californians nervous.”
Moments in Time
Dr. Berkson lived with the Nearings and Colemans for several years, sleeping in the Coleman’s woodshed at night while learning organic gardening and building rock garden walls and log cabins by day. Berkson and a tall mysterious boat maker named Brent felled the trees one year, let them dry, and then hand-scythed them the following year to build the log cabin. They made the filling in-between the logs out of sphagnum moss gathered from local fields and pebbles from the shoreline, hand mixed together with cement in wheel barrels. In this interview, Berkson was shocked to learn that the cabin still exists; it was moved to another part of the Colemans’ land and is now the formal “guest house” for visitors from all around the world. She has learned, though, that the root-cellar she dug by hand, by candle light at night to get finished before the first huge snows, chronically leaked.
Coleman in Washington DC
Coleman started writing and going to Washington to educate big Agra, serving two years as Executive Director of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM). He advised the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1979–80, with input into the document that formed the basis of today's legislated National Organic Program (2002) in the U.S.—the Report and Recommendations on Organic Farming. The program has since become unfortunately diluted by big business. “Organic” labeling now allows inclusion of hydroponics and many plants not really raised organically, especially most berries and tomatoes you find labeled organic, even at markets like Whole Foods.
Back in Maine
The Four Seasons Farm is across the Bay from two islands once owned by Bucky Fuller. Bucky’s islands housed organic gardens, composting toilets, geodesic domes, and hosted experiments held by international scientists. Way back when, Berkson hung out with thinkers like Bucky (along with her boyfriend at the time, Hans Meyers, an astrophysicist who later became president of The Buckminster Fuller Institute. He also designed the water turbines of Austin, the city in Texas where Berkson now lives.)
In those years, Nearing and Berkson (along with many international visitors) gathered rocks from the countryside (“uglies and beauties,” as Helen Nearing called them), and built huge garden walls (two-and-a-half feet thick, eight feet high, and two feet into the ground,) which extended the growing season two months on either end. The rocks absorbed the sunlight and transmitted it into the soil and plants. With special tools, Nearing could grow food all year long, despite being in Maine and having one of the shortest growing seasons in the U.S.
Eliot now uses unheated and minimally-heated greenhouses and polytunnels to be able to grow veggie year round in Maine.
Fun Fact
Scott and Helen Nearing wrote the foreword for Berkson’s first book, The Foot Book (Harper Row Publishers, 1979), which sold 750 million copies.
Friends and Truth Grounded in the Earth
This interview between Eliot Coleman and Dr. Berkson is a positive show, just what is needed in the midst of the tsunami of suffering, pain, and misunderstanding that is happening now around our planet. Your whole family, clinic, and neighbors will want to hear the truth about our food, and the noble connection between “good folks” and the earth.

Mon, 11 May 2020 - 49min - 190 - LDN: Super Immune Booster with Dr. Pamela Smith (#174)
Hear all about Low-Dose Naltrexone from Pam W. Smith, MD, MPH – an Anti-Aging Medicine Specialist.
Dr. Smith is an international expert on LDN and was a guest speaker at the first international LDN conference in Australia in 2019. Dr. Smith created and teaches many of the modules that certify MDs, pharmacists and NPs to become board-certified as functional practitioners. For the past decade Dr. Berkson and Dr. Smith have often lectured together most recently, team teaching a 16-hr. hormone course a few months ago in Salt Lake, City.
Naltrexone is used in high dosages in the ER for drug overdosages.
In smaller dosages (micro amounts to typically 4.5 mg) is referred to as “Low-Dose Naltrexone” known mostly often as its acronym: LDN.
LDN has many uses. For example LDN: boosts immune function, tamps down unhealthy inflammation, stops cancer tumor growth and metastases, helps auto-immune diseases go into remission, and much more.
Clinical reports on LDN have demonstrated many possible benefits in diverse diseases such as fibromyalgia, Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, complex-regional pain syndrome, Hailey-Hailey disease, and cancer.
In this show you will learn:
Dose ranges of LDN. How to properly take LDN. The use of ultra-low dosages. LDN use for chronic pain and how it may reduce the need for opioids. How LDN is used adjunctively for MS, RA, and other auto-immune diseases as well as inflammatory bowel diseases. How it works as a promising immunomodulatory agent by binding to opioid receptors in or on immune cells and tumor cells. Why many functional doctors are prescribing it for “all” auto-immune and cancer patients.Naltrexone is a drug and thus any patient can have a reaction but adverse reactions are very rare.
Make sure to listen to this highly educational show.

Mon, 04 May 2020 - 57min - 189 - The FDA’s Role in the “Covid Crisis” and What You Can Do About It (#173)
Dr. Mary J. Ruwart is a scientist, ethicist, libertarian author/activist and a close girl friend of Dr. Berkson’s. Thus, this show is informative but also down-home; a chat between friends.
Dr. Ruwart has a Ph.D. in Biophysics and was a research scientist at The Upjohn Company involved in developing new therapies for diverse diseases, such as liver cirrhosis and AIDS.
Presently, in Texas, Dr. Ruwart oversees IRB’s which allow peer-research to unfold in proper regulatory pathways.
Dr. Ruwart writes an Internet column, Ask Dr. Ruwart, featured in the Advocates for Self-Government “Liberator OnLine” e-zine.
In this show you’ll learn:
How the lack of testing kits helped the spread of COVID. Why the CDC’s original testing kits didn’t work. The FDA’s role. The official “change” of the FDA in 1962 and how this effects each one of us. How each of us, the average person, can have some input. What the average person can do to help solve some of these problems.Dr. Ruwart wrote a must-have book on how the FDA got to be what it is today, called Death By Regulation: How We Were Robbed of a Golden Age of Health and How We Can Reclaim It.

Mon, 27 Apr 2020 - 43min - 188 - COVID-19: Promising Treatments By Docs On The Frontlines (#172)
COVID-19 has now been reported in every continent but Antarctica. We have no standard treatment nor time for randomized trials to test treatments in accepted scientific manner.
In this show you learn about a team of 8 physicians throughout the country, including seasoned ER doctors, ICU physicians and critical care providers, who got together and created a protocol based on various published anti-viral interventions. In their facilities this protocol is saving lives.
Their very ill COVID-19 patients given their specific protocol in the ER, in a specific manner of timing, are not progressing to need ventilators, are passing through the disease process faster with seemingly with less downstream permanent tissue damage.
Dr. Berkson interviews one of these physicians, Dr. Keith Berkowitz.
Dr. Berkowitz is an internist. Dr. Berkowitz was on the teaching faculty at North Shore University and New York University School of Medicine for many years. In addition, Dr. Berkowitz consulted with Island Peer Review Organization in New Hyde Park, New York, overseeing quality management. He has been a reviewer of questions for certification boards of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Berkowitz is also a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a member of the American College of Physicians, the Medical Society of State of New York, the Foundation for the Advancement of Innovative Medicine and the American College for Advancement in Medicine.
Dr. Berkowitz is the co-author of Princeton Review’s Medical School Companion (Random House, 1995),
Obviously, Dr. Berkowitz has high standing among allopathic medicine. But, we are fortunate that Dr. Berkowitz also thinks outside the box. “Agile thinking” is a trait greatly needed during this pandemic.
Thinking that lifestyle and nutrition matter, Dr. Berkowitz founded the Center for Balanced Health in New York City. Before creating this integrative clinic, Dr. Berkowitz was the medical director of the Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine. Dr. Berkowitz also published non-mainstream medical books such as The Stubborn Fat Fix (Rodale, 2009) and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Flour Free Eating (Alpha Books, 2010).
You can see that Dr. Berkowitz is grounded in allopathic medicine but, in addition, has a functional medicine perspective.
All eight doctors on this new COVID-19 treatment team are aligned in combining the best of both medical worlds. That’s exactly what they did with this new protocol to treat COVID-19. This medical team of eight combined nutrition, based on research published in China on COVID-19 patients, and added two medications that address the damaging molecular issues of COVID-19.
They developed an intravenous protocol that is administered every 6 hours to patients that are getting very ill from this novel virus. Many of these patients, in the facilities using these protocols, are healing faster and not progressing to the point of needing ventilators. This is a very critical aspect of treating this illness.
Ventilators can be lifesaving, but once a patient is put on ventilators for COVID-19, they have a much higher risk of dying from this disease; the numbers being 56% to 85% risk of fatality depending on the studies you read.
Any protocol that help treat a COVID-19 patient successfully and also enabling avoidance of ventilators is worth learning about.
And passing forward.

You know how the old saying that the “Two Inevitables” are taxes and aging? Well, what if aging, at least as we know it, wasn’t a given?
This show, with one of the world’s experts on anti-aging. Dave Asprey, is a super dynamic interview about extending your life. Dave is a genius, agile thinker and you get to hear his effective, distinctive array of science-based anti-aging tools.
Dave Asprey has used specific nutrients and off-label use of medications, to pull himself back from being a 300 lb. extremely unhealthy younger male, to now being a middle-aged much more youthful dynamic incomparable male. He did this by “bio-hacking”. In fact, Dave helped put this term—“biohacking”—in Webster’s dictionary and on our human radar.
Bio-hacking is using tools to hack our DNA so we can improve our genes, moving them toward living longer better.
Dave shares with the world his idea that aging is plastic, that it’s encoded. “If something is encoded, you can crack the code.” “If you can crack the code, you can hack the code!”
Governments like China and Russia are investing in “Anti-aging Technologies” as they realize it gives them tremendous competitive advantage? Why shouldn’t you do the same? This show tells how.
In this powerful dialogue between colleagues and friends, you learn:
What is biohacking? How you might live longer but do it much like you did in your 20’s. How to use nutrients to keep your tissues and brain younger longer. Which off-label medications “turn on” your brain mitochondria and immune system healing powers, so your lysosomes can clear “pro-aging gunk” out of your cells. You will learn what lysosomes are, and how and why to take care of them. You will learn exact tools to be rich in energy. Energy is everything. Energy is the true currency of life. That it’s not how long you sleep but how well you sleep. The Keck School of Medicine and the American Cancer Society looked at over 1 million adults 30 to 102, how they slept and their mortality rates and those that slept 6.5 hours lived longer and those that slept 8 hours a night died earlier from all causes! Atypical sleep improving hormones and medications!Dr. Berkson asked Dave, “How can you say in the book that you will live to be 185 years old?”
Dave answered, “At least 185 years old!”
Dave then explains, in detail, exactly how he is living toward that reality every single day.
Dr. Berkson read Super Human at least three times, underlining many pearls guiding us toward a safer, younger future. She proclaimed, "Super Human is one of the best reads I’ve devoured in years".
This is “must-hear” show and a “must-read” book, perfect read for those wanting to know how to be the best that they can possibly be. Super Human has almost 500 peer review citations. It’s based on research but comes from that unique virtuoso Asprey special deep dive.
Biohacking is not just for the ultra-rich or CEO’s of Google - but for you and me. This book should be on your shelves and the information guiding your purchasing of supplements and prescriptions. This year, for the first time, there will be more people on Earth over the age of sixty-five than under the age of five. We need biohacking. You and I need this information and need to take actions based on it.
Do not miss out on this show or book! And don’t miss out on all the other very cool and life enhancing tools from Dave Asprey from Bulletproof mold-free coffee to the best eye-glasses for sleeping and computer use Dr. Berkson has ever used.
Be your best by tuning in, and allowing Bulletproof and Dave Asprey to buttress up your incarnation.

Thu, 09 Apr 2020 - 1h 02min - 185 - COVID-19 with Dr. Leo Galland (#169)
Dr. Leo Galland practices in the epicenter of the worst outbreak of Covid-19 in the US, in Manhattan. He is a board-certified internist and specialist in immunology and Integrative Medicine and has quickly become a medical spokesperson for COVID-19 in NY and the country. In addition, Dr. Galland has authored 40 scientific articles and written chapters for numerous textbooks including Integrative Gastroenterology and Encyclopedia of Human Nutrition.
In this show you will learn:
How COVID-19 uses ACE2 receptors to enter the body. How “unhealthy” ACE2 receptors put us at increased risk of getting very ill once infected with COVID-19. Which nutrients support healthy ACE2 receptors. What diseases are linked with unhealthy ACE2 receptors. The role of enabling “furins”. Which dietary flavonoids are protective and what forms are the most absorbable. How social distancing may not only reduce rate of cases but also the virulence and infectivity of this virus.80% of people that get COVID-19 will not get very ill. 20% go on to get very ill and 5% may die. Our goal is to learn how to become part of the 80% if infected.
You will also learn about biology of viruses and COVID-19 that are not known by many... yet.
Dr. Galland’s practice is grounded in 3 principles:
- Search for the root causes of each person’s illness; don’t just suppress symptoms with drugs. Treat every patient and every illness as unique. Choose treatments that enhance rather than suppress normal function, whenever possible.
Dr. Galland uses these principles in his approach and description of this global pandemic we are all now facing.
This is a must not miss show.
Pass this on to save lives.
Editor's Note: After the show, Dr. Galland wrote to Dr. Berkson that he loved the interview. “ Great to see you and so good to talk to an intelligent person who understands biology”.

Thu, 02 Apr 2020 - 1h 00min - 184 - COVID-19: In Light of Historical Pandemics, the Health of Planet Earth, & What We Can Do! (#168)
We are at war with the virus that causes the new viral illness, COVID-19.
In this show you hear Dr. Berkson’s theory on the “Gaia Principal” and taking a look at “root cause” of escalating pandemics.
In this show you learn: Four portals of entry of the coronavirus. Suggested tools for prevention in high-risk and low-risk persons. Suggestions for once infected. What is a virus is. Discussion and controversy on this virus and NSAIDs. The main time-frame for human pandemics and how many have died. How pandemics are increasing. What this means for Mother Earth and for each one of us. Why we need to prioritize values of “humanity” and “future generations” more than money and power. Issues with kits, government response, fatality rates and why. And There Is More! You will hear exact steps to “flatten the curve” (todays COVID-19 mantra) with specific ways to maintain your immunity.
You learn what sugar does to your immune system and for how long.
We share specific dosages of anti-viral nutrients.
You will hear the names of two new promising drugs that may help halt this coronavirus, and how the underlying mechanism of how they work overlaps with melatonin.
How melatonin may be a critical player to help you stay well.. and why. (I wrote an entire chapter on melatonin in my book, Safe Hormones, Smart Women.)
How the virus binds to ACE2 and the controversy of ACE2 receptors and hypertensive medications.
Remember:Stay calm. The stress hormone cortisol is immunosuppressive.
We are being asked by the “isness” of this viral reality to live “community” consciousness more than “personal”.
We are all in this together.
Let’s get the message right.
Let’s support the leaders that tell the truth, not manage the truth.
Take Note:Twenty-percent of U.S. COVID-19 deaths so far have been aged 20 to 64. Kids can get it. They may not die but may be at risk of permanent tissue damage. You can have the virus without symptoms or only digestive ones.
Learn how viruses have consciousness and evolve just like we do. Thus, symptoms and treatments may do the same.
You will learn the “two aspects” of this virus that make it different than what humanity’s immune systems have seen before.
This dangerous virus is here for a while, but our fates are not locked in.
In this show you learn how to take more mastery of your fate.

Tue, 10 Mar 2020 - 51min - 182 - Mindfulness with Dr. Kristen Race (#166)
Be master of your mind rather than having your mind be master of you! As our culture and world gets more stimuli, more screen time, more job demands, our mindfulness and peace can suffer.
In this show you learn:
What is mindfulness. How mindfulness is like “falling in love” with the details that make up your life, rather than be overwhelmed by them. Exact steps to practice it within minutes. How mindfulness can help you deal successfully with physical pain and negative emotions. How negative emotions “lube” a groove into your survival brain while shutting down your higher executive brain. What breathing has to do with it. Generation stress. Recipe for peace: pay attention, say thank you, breathe. And more.Dr. Race started the Mindful Life Schools program which has helped over 50,000 children and many teachers learn mindfulness and create more happiness.
Kristen Race, Ph.D. is a parent of two young children, as well as an expert in child, family and school psychology. Dr. Race is the author of Mindful Parenting and founder of Mindful Life™.
Dr. Race has been featured in The New York Times, NPR, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, USA TODAY, CNN, and Real Simple Magazine. She is a regular blogger for The Huffington Post and Psychology Today and a TEDx speaker.
The effect of mindfulness is extremely pronounced. Yale scientists demonstrated (see citation below) that even when participants were subjected to high heat on their forearm, their brain responded as if it was experiencing normal temperature if they were practicing simple mindfulness techniques.
It is connecting to the present moment peacefully, gratefully and with NON-JUDGMENT.
In this show you learn the easy and effective technique of PBR:
Pause, Breathe, and Respond with Intention. Very cool! Works fast when practiced regularly. Our judgments can rule us... making us vulnerable to anxiety, negativity and unhappiness.
The good news is... we can learn to rule our judgments.
With tools of mindfulness. This leads to awareness and to control over our mind and health.
Awareness of what rules us is a huge part of feeling healthier and happier. It rules how you act and react. And what you attract.
It makes you comfy inside your body, brain and relationships.
Understand and practice awareness.
This show guides you how!

Astrology is a system that looks at cycles of life using the language of planets. It’s about planetary energies that influence our personal personalities, temperament, challenges and strengths.
The practice of astrology has been around in various forms for thousands of years. The New Age movement of the 1960s and ’70s launched the New Age as the “Age of Aquarius”—the 2,000-year period after the Earth is said to move into the Aquarius sign.
People especially turn to spirituality and astrology during stress. Millennials and Gen Xers have been significantly more stressed than previous generations since 2012 and are embracing astrology with a huge hug.
Dr. Berkson met Alan Oken at a Holy Man Jam, where spiritual leaders converged to discuss the consciousness of planet earth.

Mon, 10 Feb 2020 - 57min - 178 - Coconut Controversy: Issues of Coconut Oil and Leaky Gut (#162)
Health food tends to run in trends. At the moment coconut is king. But just as we live in a material world with two sides to everything, it appears there may be a “shadow side” to coconut oil—for some patients.
You will learn Dr. Berkson’s conclusions from first hearing this at an A4M Anti-aging Gastroenterology module she was both a professor and student at, along with “sleuthing’ the science.
In this show you will learn:
What is intestinal permeability and why is “Goldilocks” just right permeability critical. What is coconut fat and how is this saturated fat very different from animal saturated fat. What is LPS and endotoxins. How to test for LPS and which labs do it. How different oils effect this. How different oils effect how we absorb sugar from food. Who should be very moderate if not avoid coconut oil and who doesn’t need to. What might coconut oil do to the gut wall and what are the studies suggesting this. What might coconut oil to the colonic microbiome and what are the studies suggesting this. Where is the Department of Nutrition that 1st published a pig and now a human study looking at every hour, up to five hour, blood levels of endotoxins, after consuming coconut oil. This does not reflect food. This probably does not reflect MTC oils. The gut and gut wall benefit of spore probiotics. The role of dietary fats and fatty liver.A few interesting citations:

How to Communicate with the Dead and how cultures do it around the worldMon, 27 Jan 2020 - 55min - 176 - Endocrine Disruptors with Elizabeth Guillett, PhD (#160)
This show is in honor of two amazing scientists that helped the world recognize the human threat of endocrine disrupting environmental chemicals.
Dr. Elizabeth (Buzzy) A. Guillet PhD and Dr. Louis Joseph Guillet PhD—lovers, married for decades, visionaries, scientists—and amazing! Both have been Dr. Berkson’s heroes and colleagues for many years.
Dr. “Buzzy” Guillett was the anthropologist who first took a look at what endocrine disruptors (environmental pollutants that mimic hormones) were doing to our children’s brains and our daughters breasts. Dr. Guillet and her husband, Dr. Lou Guillett, were instrumental in putting endocrine disruption on the scientific world’s radar.
They were the definition of the original power couple. This show honors both and is an amazing interview with Dr. Buzzy Guillet about their work.
Dr. Berkson worked with them at the Center For Bioenvironmental Research at Tulane and interviewed them for Hormone Deception (available on Amazon second edition) over 25 years ago.
Dr. Lou sadly passed a few years ago from lymphoma. Many think this was due to all his years of work in the dirty waters of Lake Apopka in Florida where he did original alligator research. Dr. Louis Guillett was an active man, not averse to actual wrestling with reptiles to take blood samples or measure penile lengths!
Dr. Lou demonstrated that the alligators were getting feminized due to endocrine disruptors in the water. Now the lake has been cleaned and the male alligators are manly again, much due to Dr. Lou’s efforts.
Dr. Louis Joseph Guillette junior was professor at the Medical University of South Carolina’s obstetrics and gynecology department in Charleston. He worked alongside Ana Soto, Frederick vom Saal and Theo Colborn, when endocrine disruption was a radical and unproven hypothesis.
One of his most notable quotes was when Dr. Lou told a US House of Representatives Subcommittee on Health and the Environment in 1993 about sperm counts: “Every man sitting in this room today is half the man his grandfather was. And the question is: are our children going to be just half the men we are?” This quote lives on and Dr. Buzzy is part of carrying on the investigation and pursuit of awareness and answers.
Dr. Buzzy was a professor at the University of Florida. Dr. Buzzy spent years in Mexico studying the effects of pesticides on children’s thinking, brain development, hand-eye coordination, IQ and breast development.
I always thought Dr. Lou looked like a “he-man” that just stepped out of an Irish spring commercial. And I always looked toward their relationship and amazing contributions with a huge heart of admiration.
In this show you will learn:
How pesticides can adversely affect your children and what to do about them. How Dr. G’s Mexico experiments demonstrated pesticides adverse effects on children’s brain development. How Dr. Buzzy tracked the children and effects of pesticides in food and in bug sprays, for many years. Why many of today’s young boys are being feminized, even having early fat pads similar to older women. How endocrine disruptors are effecting puberty timing. How our dirty planet is effecting our kid’s IQ and what this means for their future and humanity’s future. What we can do to protect ourselves. Which foods have the most endocrine disruptors to avoid. How she and Lou got into all this and stayed together as an amazing couple for many years. And much more. This is a must not miss show as endocrine disruptors have been called “the third major threat to humanity’ after nuclear war and global warming! And Dr. Buzzy Guillet helped scientists and humanity understand all this.

Dr. Berkson speaks on the “re-analysis” of the Women’s Health Initiative—a 19-year follow-up— presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium on December 13, 2019.
(* See abstract below for details).
In this show, estrogen gets a “reframe”.
You learn:
How estrogen protects against breast cancer incidence
How estrogen protects against all-cause mortality (death from all causes).
How estrogen protects many tissues, especially our energy organelles: mitochondria.
You learn how best to take estrogen therapy, optimal timing of initiation, benefits, and theories as to why estrogen is breast cancer protective more than breast cancer dangerous.
Did you know estrogen has been historically used to treat breast cancer!
Dr. Rowan T. Chlebowski is the principal investigator in this new re-analysis. Asked if this new data should influence current guidelines on menopausal hormone therapy? Dr. Chlebowski says, "Yes, I would hope so!”
Dr. Berkson will be writing a blog on “Estrogen Vindicated” that you can soon find at drlindseyberkson.com in the blog section.
Don’t miss out on the most potent anti-aging tools we have: hormones. And one of the most breast, brain and life protective… is estrogen. God bless her!

Fri, 06 Dec 2019 - 1h 02min - 172 - Re-Post: 15 Belly-Fat Busters (#156)
Go to https://drlindseyberkson.com/bigger-belly-fat-smaller-brain-size-shocking-link-mindfulness-15-sophisticated-action-steps/ for an in-depth article on this topic.
When it’s fat or real estate, it’s all about location, location, location!
Where your fat is located on your body, affects your overall health, your brain structure and function, and even your ability to be mindful… or not.
In this show you learn plenty of facts and fiction about fat cells.
Fat has more functions than we thought.
Fat stores excess calories so you can mobilize the fat stores for energy when you need them. Fat releases hormones that control metabolism (metabolism refers to how you burn calories as energy, or store calories as fat). Fat protects organs. Fat acts like Jekyll and Hyde depending on where it lives, what type of fat it is and how many of them are there. Hormone altering chemicals love fat. Pollutants that mascaraed as hormones, can hide inside fats cells making them act physiologically nasty. Dr. Bruce Blumberg has labeled these endocrine disruptors that especially make for unhealthy fat cells, obesogens.Fat cares about location.
Not all fat is created equal. Where your fat “lives” modifies it’s function.
Visceral fat lives inside your gut surrounding your organs. Subcutaneous fat lies under your skin.Mounting evidence shows that fat lying deep within the abdomen is more perilous than the fat you can pinch with your fingers on your underarm, inner thigh and even on your belly just under your skin.
Fat that lives right underneath your skin, that feels relatively soft and that you can pinch between your fingers, is called subcutaneous fat.
In a healthy person, you should have a bit of fat under your skin that makes up a bout 90% of your fat stores.
The remaining 10% — called visceral or intra-abdominal fat —lies outside of your easy reach, beneath your firm abdominal wall. This fat fills the spaces surrounding abdominal organs like your liver, intestines, spleen and others. Visceral fact can also be found inside your omentum. This is an apron-like flap of tissue that lies under the belly muscles and blankets the intestines. The omentum gets harder and thicker as it fills with fat.
As women approach middle years, their proportion of fat to body weight increases often more than this happens in males. Their belly enlarges. Fat storage starts to thicken the torso, fill up under the armpits, and thicken the waist, especially in the back.
Even if you don't actually gain weight, your waistline can grow by inches as visceral fat pushes out against the abdominal wall.
Fat is biologically active. It releases hormones that affect our health.
Subcutaneous fat releases healthy hormones.
- Subcutaneous fat releases the hormone leptin. When leptin is released in optimal amounts, it acts on the brain to suppress appetite (to help you not over eat) and even helps burn stored fat throughout the body so you don’t get fat. Subcutaneous fat also releases adiponectin. Adiponectin protects the body against diabetes and heart disease by regulating how the body processes fats and sugars. Adiponectin also is a powerful anti-inflammatory molecule, especially protecting the linings of blood vessels. Adiponectin is made a bit by visceral fat, too, as long as there isn’t too much of it. But adiponectin production falls severely as visceral fat volume increases. As people become fatter, they make less adiponectin. This increases their risk of diabetes, heart disease, dementia and the list keeps growing.
Visceral fat cells, in comparison, secrete unhealthy molecules and hormones.
- Visceral produces proteins called cytokines. These can trigger and maintain low-levels of unhealthy inflammation. Excessive inflammation is an independent risk factor for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, dementias and other serious chronic conditions. Visceral fat also produces a precursor to angiotensin, a protein that causes blood vessels to constrict, blood pressure to rise, and increases the risk of stroke. Visceral fat sets the scene for insulin resistance, another risk factor for many diseases as well as symptoms like fatigue, insomnia, out of control hunger and brain fog.
How to tell if you have too much bad visceral fat?
If you have a pot belly you most like have excess visceral fat. If you gut protrudes past your breasts. If a woman’s waist is over 35 inches. If a man’s wait is over 40 inches.Your belly/your brain.
One study followed 6,500 members of Kaiser Permanente of Northern California, a large HMO (health maintenance organization), for an average of 36 years, from the time they were in their 40s until they were in their 70s. They tracked who got dementia, and compared this to their belly fat.
Those with the biggest bellies had the higher risk of dementia compared to people with smaller bellies. The link was true even for people with excess belly fat but overall of normal weight.
How does belly fat cause brain damage?
- Leptin: Excess belly fat can cause leptin malfunction. This can cause issues with cognition, memory and hunger control. RBP4: Researchers at Harvard have discovered that, compared with subcutaneous fat, visceral fat secretes larger amounts of retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4). Excesses of this molecule increase insulin resistance. As the volume of visceral fat increases, so do levels of RBP4.
Belly fat can be confusing. It can be both visceral and subcutaneous. It’s not easy to know exactly how much of your gut fat is killing your brain and your future. At the moment, the only way to determine which of your belly fat is subcutaneous or visceral, is by CT scan. This is expensive. And creates huge radiation exposure .So the test of RBP4 mentioned above, is promising, but not yet available
Did you know there are 3 types of fat cells: white, brown and brite (beige).
- White fat. This is stored energy. When you cut calories, you tend to loose white fat cells. When you add more exercise expenditure to smaller portions, you tend to loose more white fat cells. Most of visceral fat is white fat cells. Brown fat. Brown fat is now thought to be more like muscle than like white fat. When activated, brown fat burns white fat. Brown adipose tissue contributes to your body’s core temperature maintenance through a process called non-shivering thermogenesis. Lean people have more brown fat and more non-shivering thermogenesis. Children have more brown fat than adults and it helps keep them warm. Cold weather promotes brown fat synthesis. Studies show that in Boston in the wintertime, brown fat is more active, and this stimulates metabolism and burning of calories. Brite (beige fat) is brow fat marbled within white fat. Brite fat regulates energy expenditure and fights against obesity.
Interchangeable:
White fat can turn beige. Beige fat can revert back to white fat. Conversion factors depend upon how you eat, move and the balance of all your hormone family members. For example, underactive thyroid or testosterone can be tamping down your metabolism and play a role into your types of fat cells.
Obesity = occurs when you have more white fat than the other types of fat, from consuming more energy than you use, or having unhealthy hormones and nutrient status (hormone depend on nutrients to keep you health). You can fight obesity = by eating less, moving more, and eating more fishmeals or taking essential fatty acid fish supplements. Why? Fish oil helps you make more brown and brite fat, which ups your ability to burn calories. The “Browning of White Fat” (white fat turning beige).
Exercise promotes the release of an exercise hormone called Irisin. In 2012, Bruce Spiegelman, PhD, a cell biologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, dubbed this exercise hormone as "Irisin," after Iris, the Greek messenger goddess. Spiegelman said that exercise “signals” your body to maintain healthier weight.
You make the choice to exercise. As you exercise, your activated muscles produce and release irisin. Irisin promotes brown fat cell production within white fat cells. This is browning of white fat, by exercise through the middleman of irisin.
More browned white fat means your metabolism increase. You burn more calories. It’s less difficult to maintain a healthier weight.
Irisin has multiple benefits.
Promotes white fat browning. Triggers neurogenesis (the growth of new neurons), especially within your brain. Increases the expression of BDNF(brain-derived neurotrophic factor). Activates genes involved in learning and memory. Lengthens telomeres (tips of DNA). The longer your telomeres, the more you fight off disease, aging and premature death.In-depth article at Berkson’s Blog: https://drlindseyberkson.com/bigger-belly-fat-smaller-brain-size-shocking-link-mindfulness-15-sophisticated-action-steps/

She wrote her own story and that of 12 physicians who also beat their autoimmune diseases, inside her new best-selling book: “Beat Autoimmune: The 6 Keys to Reverse Your Condition and Reclaim Your Health” with a foreword by New York Times best-selling functional medical doctor: Mark Hyman, MD.
In this show you will learn:
Autoimmune disease used to be rare but is becoming more common. There is a growing list of autoimmune diseases such as MS, RA, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, Lupus and more Specific strategies—such as identifying your individual triggers— can make it rare once again. Stress must be face and calmed. Trigger foods like gluten must be avoided. Palmer shares the specific Cyrex array test to discover when you are no longer attacking your own “myelin sheath” (protective covering of nerves that gets damaged by MS). A 3-part Spore program to repair gut hyperpermeability. The “Three-some” taught at A4M to deal with autoimmunity. Steps to improving your diet and the need for measuring blood levels of TMAO. Wed, 18 Sep 2019 - 1h 06min - 161 - Google's Gone Biased, Ditch the Mouthwash & More (#145)
In this show you will learn how Google is driving traffic “away” from functional medicine sites, like driving large amounts of cyber traffic away from the famous health advocate site named Mercola.com.
Google especially drives traffic away from sites that are anti-vaccine, supportive of alternative cancer care, and discuss alternative medicine treatments.
Thus, natural answers will be harder to find on Google. Try other sites such as Ecosia.org – the search engine that will plant a tree for every 100 searches!
This all first began when Monsanto hired Google to help drive traffic in the direction they wanted when Monsanto had their first huge glyphosate court battle (which they lost).
Google’s not only coupled with a big Chemical company; it’s doing the same with Big Pharma.
Google’s parent company Alphabet has launched strategic alliances with major pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis, Sanofi, Otsuka and Pfizer. They state it’s to spur drug development and to make “changes” in health care delivery.
It seems that part of this is trying to minimized the functional medicine space, the major competitor of big chem and pharma companies. They state it’s to protect the public. What do you think?
In American we have personal freedom of rights, but these do not apply to private companies in this realm. They do have the right to do this. But we need to know so we can adjust our efforts to get the solutions we are looking for.
In this show you will also hear updates on:
San Francisco and vaping. Nitroglycerin patches for bug and spider bites. Why you should ditch most commercial mouth washes. Why Cornell blames the consistent marriage rate decline on a “lack of economically-attractive men”. The pitfalls of taking too much vitamin D and at what level. How some breast cancer treatments put breast cancer cells into “sleep mode” and what this means about making “remission” your “mission”. Nature’s intention to sync mother and child’s brain waves, what threatens this and how to reinstate mutual brain harmony.Mon, 09 Sep 2019 - 57min - 160 - Hormone Legal Update With Compounding Pharmacist Jim Hrncir R.Ph. In this show you will learn how to stop your failing struggle with weight.
Michelle Melendez's new book, End Dieting Hell: How to find peace with your body and lose weight is not another diet book!
With over ten-years of experience as a weight loss specialist, Michelle shares insights most trainers and even bariatric doctors (weight loss docs) don't know.
Michelle put together a fascinating theory and been working with hundreds of women in her famous and effective Women Being Fit programs based on her new theories.
Michelle’s brand-new lose weight and keep it off program details:
Your cells literally get “addicted” to your weight loss struggle. Your cells (fat and nervous cells) get “off” on the “sensation” of struggle: keeping you caught repeating the struggle over and over again. Your subconscious is running your struggle and sabotages your efforts. Michelle’s program (which she runs in the gorgeous state of Hawaii rather than the state of denial, ha!) teaches you how to retrain your fat cells and neurology to work “with” you rather than “against” you. A big part of keeping weight off, is finding inner emotional “peace”. In Michelle’s program and new book, you learn EXACT steps to achieve inner peace and FINALLY get your body to stop its fat struggle addiction. Here is the Amazon link: End Dieting Hell: How to find peace with your body and lose weight

Tue, 23 Jul 2019 - 50min - 157 - Hormones Under Attack with Dr. Daved Rosensweet (#141)
THIS IS VERY TIME ORIENTED: PLEASE TAKE ACTION ALONG WITH US!
Hormones Are Under Attack, Dr. Berkson’s Interview with Dr. Daved Rosensweet.
Daved Rosensweet MD has been specializing in bioidentical hormone therapies for decades. Dr. Rosensweet has developed his own training program (www.menopausemethod.com), patented hormone bases, and now this.
Dr. Rosensweet just came back from Washington D.C, where he testified in front of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) to try to protect our rights and abilities to have access to safe and individualized hormones. Meaning: compounded bioidentical hormone replacement therapies (BHRT). The battle is on for who gets the money from women getting hormones. Pharmaceutical manufacturers continually try to be the main influencer of the FDA; trying to keep women on patentable (non- individualized) hormones, versus compounded bioidentical hormones by compounding pharmacies in response to doctor’s individualize scripts.
Our monumental efforts are called for right now!
NASEM, has been tasked and funded by the FDA to organize a Committee on the Clinical Utility of Treating Patients with Compounded “Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy.” To date there have been three meetings of testimonies of "stakeholders and experts" to the Committee. Recently surveys have been sent out to the public and practitioners for their opinions (see link to survey below).
Between the three meetings the majority of time was given to testimonies “negative” to bioidentical hormones. In contrast, about 1 hour and 35 minutes were on the “pro” side, supporting bioidentical hormones.
As far as can be discerned from the biographies of the 12 Committee members of MDs and PhDs, none have treated women or men with Bioidentical Hormones.
One Committee member after the meeting had drawn to a close, approached one of the compounding pharmacist experts and said "there is no way we will tell the FDA to back what you do, however, I am interested in you treating me for menopause as this makes sense to me."
You can hear Dr. Rosensweet’s testimony (only allowed 5 minutes) and Q & A at these links:

Sun, 07 Jul 2019 - 49min - 154 - Generic Medications: The Awful Truth with Katherine Eban (#138)
Knowledge is power. Join Dr. Berkson's interview with KATHERINE EBAN, an investigative journalist, Fortune magazine contributor, Andrew Carnegie fellow, and New York Time’s best-selling author of Bottle of Lies: The Inside Story of the Generic Drug Boom and expand your knowledge base.
Ms. Eban is known and respected for lecturing on pharmaceutical counterfeiting and pharmaceutical integrity, or lack of it. And… now… generic medications.
In this illuminating and must-hear show you will learn:
What are generic drugs and what are the concerns with them. Where you can go to figure out the deep dive on your own generic meds. How is the FDA letting us down and what are the conflicts of interest? 80% of our generics are made overseas, mostly in India and China, who often have very serious issues with their chemical plants, contaminants and other complications. The U.S. makes almost none of its own antibiotics anymore. Examples of fraud committed by generic-drug makers at manufacturing plants in India and China include: forging of documents and data to prove that generic drugs are equivalent to brand-name drugs, when they’re not; altering of test parameters so that formulations with higher impurities can be approved; superimposing brand-name test results onto generic results in applications to regulators. Overseas drug companies take extreme measures to evade FDA scrutiny. At one major U.S. hospital center, transplant surgeons found that their patients suffered organ rejection after taking an immunosuppressant medication made by an Indian generic drug company. Poor-quality generic drugs are feeding the epidemic of drug resistance around the world.Links:

Mon, 01 Jul 2019 - 45min - 153 - Women Don't Get No Respect Unless... & Alternative Home Health (#137)
In this show you will learn:
How iconic female writers and directors get treated in Hollywood or shall we say Shallow-wood?
Sally Wainwright is an English television writer, producer, and director from Yorkshire. Ms. Wainwright has single-handedly revitalized British TV and won many prestigious awards. After wide European recognition, she journeyed to Hollywood to see how Yankees would receive her and collaborate with her talent. This turned out not to be the case. What is happening to American culture?
If you are a woman and under 34 and not stick thin… watch out. You are not valued as much. In this show we discuss what to do about this!
You will also learn about the Washington State University study, published in the Building and Environment Journal, that found “surprisingly high” levels of pollutants including formaldehyde and mercury detected inside energy efficient modern homes, with harmful pollutants spiking at certain times of the day as temperatures rose.
Indoor air pollution used to be thought to be static. With California’s CARB2 regulatory actions, we thought we were safer. But air tight homes are becoming air tight boxes filled with cancer-causing substances.
In this show you will also discover steps to shop for healthier materials or protect yourself from potentially harmful materials already filling your air.
People think of air pollution as an outdoor problem, but home is where much of our pollution is. This is bad news. But the good news is, it’s your home and you can do many protective things about it.
You will also learn:
About alternative home care. Pyrethroids, the chrysanthemum bug scam. And more!Thu, 20 Jun 2019 - 49min - 152 - Dr. Berkson “Bits & Pieces”: Leaky Gut & Food (#136)

A mind is like a parachute. It works best when open. But what if your mind is closing down?
This show is about cognitive decline, one of the worst cases being Alzheimer’s disease, with an interview of the scientist and medical neurologist who is successfully reversing and preventing this brain disease and keeping parachutes open.
In this extraordinary show you will hear from a doctor who has published 226 peer review articles on the brain and dementia:
What are the 5 sub-types of Alzheimer’s disease? Why do most Alzheimer meds fail? How 1500 doctors trained in Bredesen’s techniques are reversing Alzheimer’s (and related cognitive decline diseases) within 2 to 6 months in mild and moderate cases. How amyloid is the brain’s effort to protect itself and what you need to figure out is what is attacking the brain. What is true brain plasticity and how to build it. What “builds” brain and what “breaks” brain and how to live, eat and track your brain health to keep it healthier. Why taking a “cognoscopy” is as important as a “colonoscopy” and how and where you can do this yourself and track your mentation. How Ayurveda play’s into Dr. Bredesen's dementia theories. This show deals with the lack of authenticity in humanity throughout time and up to today, especially in medicine, hormones and even peer review science.
Listen and learn how doctor’s voting down FDA back of bioidentical hormones often choose bioidentical hormones for themselves. Why? They are safer and more effective. Their claim. No peer review trials. Are there any peer review trials on the synthetic hormones now available? No. The only randomized trial on hormones (Prempro – horse urine along with MPA) were prematurely stopped as the synthetic progestins causes issues.
You will learn about science and what the ex-editor (for two decades) of the most prestigious scientific journal in the world today (New England Journal of Medicine) has to say about trusting science and many physicians.
You will also hear:
About the role of satiety hormones and Alzheimer’s disease. About oxytocin and couple’s alcohol counseling. The role of the gut and Parkinson’s disease especially constipation and appendix removal. How women deal with stress differently than males and that stress hormones is women boost hunger hormone (ghrelin) which then can damage eggs sitting in reserve in the ovaries. What Dr. David Hawkin (functional psychiatrist turned metaphysical teacher) has to say about how the masses can be so easily controlled.Dr. Berkson shares in her somewhat poetic voice, why authenticity is so elusive (it has been this way since the beginning of mankind).
Discover how you might develop authenticity in yourself and why you would want to do so. Learn how to better tell if others are “for” you or “against” you.
In the world there have always been the “few” trying to control the “many”. But today many are trying to get our attention, money and respect. Learning how to be more authentic and discern authenticity in others, or lack of, are great tools. You will gain some of these assets by the end of this marvelous show.

In this show you will learn:
Eating less and moving more aren’t working, in 2019, to lose weight. Partially because of obesogens Exactly what these are. How they are contributing to the ever growing obesity epidemic. How chemicals can make our fat cells nasty, unfair and non-responsive to life style changes. How obesogens are “transgenerational” (passed on to your offspring). How weight-inducing chemicals are ubiquitous. That obesogens lurk in food, furniture, plastic products and other surprising places. In his new book, THE OBESOGEN EFFECT, Dr. Bruce Blumberg describes how obesogens work, where they are found, and offers a practical three-step solution for reducing exposures and setting a straight course for better health.
