Faith-based anxiety help for Christian teen girls: practical tools for social anxiety, overthinking, intrusive thoughts, and insecurity, plus Bible verses for anxiety that actually connect to your real life.
They haven’t texted back, and you’re already sure they’re annoyed with you.
You replay what you said in class for hours, even when you didn’t say anything wrong.
It’s 1am and your brain won’t shut off.
Everyone else seems fine, and you feel like the only one falling apart.
And you love Jesus. So why are you still this anxious?
You’re not being dramatic, you’re not some kind of a burden, and you’re definitely not the only one who feels this way.
On Anxious Christian Teen, you’ll get practical, faith-based tools for social anxiety, overthinking, friendship drama, stress, and intrusive thoughts and that harsh voice in your head. No “just stop overthinking.” No “just pray more and try harder.” Real strategies for real, day-to-day life, anchored in what God says about you.
You’ll learn how to:
- Calm anxiety symptoms when your body feels like you’re in danger (even when you know you’re not)
- Stop replaying every conversation and worrying what everyone thinks
- Navigate fake friends, ghosting, and drama without losing yourself
- Untangle your worth from grades, sports, and approval
- Build self-esteem and confidence rooted in Christ, not performance
I’m Kristen, a high school counselor, teen anxiety coach, and your big sis in faith. As a teen, I looked fine on the outside. Good grades, lead roles, sports, friends. Inside, I second-guessed everything: what I wore, what I said, how I played. I thought one more A, one more win, one more compliment would finally make me feel like enough. It never did.
So what changed? I learned practical tools to manage anxiety and anchored them in my identity in Christ. Peace wasn’t about becoming a different girl. It was about finding out who God already said I was.
Now I help girls just like you do the same.
So grab your coziest hoodie and your favorite loaded tea. Let’s talk about what peace actually looks like for a Christian teen girl today.
xo,
Kristen

- 149 - 145 | Prayed & Still Anxious? How to Pray Before Anxiety Hits a 10 {TEENS}
Hey doll,Have you ever prayed about something, like really prayed, and then just sat there with your heart still pounding? And then the scariest thought slides in: I prayed, and I still feel like this. Is my faith just too weak for this?Feeling anxious after you pray does not mean God isn't listening, and it doesn't mean you did it wrong. In this episode, I'm telling you about the night I prayed my absolute guts out on the ride home (and why it didn't help me one bit), and we're closing out the PEACE Plan with the very last step: Enter Everyday Peace. That's where prayer stops being the emergency line and becomes part of your real, day to day life.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why feeling anxious after you pray doesn't mean God isn't listening (or that you're not saved) What happens when prayer is only your last resort Why praying at a 3 or 4 works better than waiting until your anxiety hits a 10 How to stop treating prayer like a request line, straight from Colossians 4:2 A simple gratitude tool to use the moment you feel the spiral starting Your one step this week: Once a day, before anything feels urgent, talk to God and name three things you're thankful for. Tue, 03 Nov 2026 - 148 - 144 | Left Out by Your Friends? Why It’s Not Proof You’re Too Much {TEENS}
Hey doll, Left out by your friends? Maybe you heard about the birthday sleepover on Monday morning, after everybody else already had the pictures. Maybe your friends have started ghosting you, or every single conversation ends in drama. And now you’re wondering if something is wrong with you. If you’re too much, not enough, or both. Friendships as a teen are incredibly important. You’re figuring out who you are and where you fit, so when friendships wobble, it feels like it’s about you. I know, because I lived it. I kept a poker face and played it off like I didn’t care, while on the inside I was sure I was too blunt, too weird, the third wheel. In this episode, I’m giving you one brave tool and three cringe (but true) teaching points to help you stop treating “left out” like proof that you’re the problem. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why getting left out feels so huge right now, and why it isn’t a verdict on who you are The Testing the Waters tool: how to calmly ask what’s really going on, without naming or blaming Why you never go into that conversation hot, and when it’s ok to not have it at all Why not everyone who says they’re your friend is actually your friend Why not everything you hear is the full truth Why the only person you can control is you, and what Romans 12:18 says about your part Your one step this week: Think of one friendship situation that’s been sitting heavy on you. Don’t fix it yet. Just ask yourself, what do I actually know is true here, and what’s the story I’ve been telling myself? xo, Kristen 🎧 Follow the show on Apple Podcasts or Spotify so you never miss an episode. Fri, 30 Oct 2026 - 147 - 143 | Overwhelmed? How Teen Girls Can Build Confidence Without Fixing Everything at Once {TEENS}
Hey doll!Have you ever made a list in your head of everything about you that needs fixing? Your grades. Your style. Your friend group. That thing you said three weeks ago that you’re still replaying. And then anxiety leans in and whispers that you need to fix all of it, like, yesterday.So you try to overhaul your whole life at once. And instead of feeling more confident, you end up feeling more stuck than ever. I know, because I tried to reinvent my entire self the summer before freshman year, and I ended up standing in the hallway while my old friends shut me out and my new friends walked away.Here’s the truth: anxiety is fear, and fear is a liar. You don’t have to fix everything at once to build real confidence. You just have to pick one thing.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why trying to fix everything at once keeps you stuck instead of confident How the Enemy uses overwhelm to keep you paralyzed, and what God offers instead Step C of the PEACE Plan: Choose One Move Why a lamp lights up just enough for the next step, not the entire map (Psalm 119:105) Why small, faithful steps aren’t practice for the real thing. They are the real thing (Luke 16:10) Why you should never underestimate small daily progress (Zechariah 4:10) Your one step this week: when the whole list shows up, ask yourself one question: what’s the one next step? Then take it. Just one. And let that be enough for today.Coming Friday: what to do when your friend group starts shifting and you suddenly feel like the outsider.xo, Kristen🎧 Follow Anxious Christian Teen where ever you listen so you never miss an episode.WANNA GO DEEPER, BABY SIS? Tue, 27 Oct 2026 - 146 - 142 | Social Anxiety in the Hallway? Why It Feels Like Everyone’s Watching {TEENS}
Hey doll,Ever walk down the hallway and feel like every single head turns? Your hair decided to be frizzy today, you’re not sure you got the right New Balances, and you’re so hot on the inside you might actually catch fire.That feeling of everyone watching you is real. But what’s actually going on is usually not what you think. In this episode, I tell you about the night I walked into a gym with a brand new hairstyle and went from “I’m cute” to “I feel ridiculous” in about two seconds flat. Then I give you one tool for the second that heat starts rising, and three truths that take the power out of the spotlight.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why social anxiety makes it feel like everyone is watching you Flip the Spotlight, a tool you can use in the hallway the moment the heat starts rising Why most people are too worried about themselves to be watching you Why the looking you’re scared of is usually kinder than you think What to do when someone really does say something, and whose approval actually matters Your one step this week: Flip the Spotlight one time. Fri, 23 Oct 2026 - 145 - 141 | Your Teen’s Anxiety Isn’t Your Fault - Here’s Why She Needs Help {MOMS}
Hey mama,Is your teen’s anxiety your fault? If that question has been sitting heavy on your heart, I want you to hear me: no, it’s not. It doesn’t mean you missed something, it doesn’t mean you weren’t there for her, and it doesn’t mean you haven’t raised her to truly trust God.Maybe she’s been quieter lately, snapping at everybody, or falling apart the second she gets in the car. You want to help, but you’re scared of saying the wrong thing. So today I’m giving you a simple way to start that conversation, one that won’t send her running to her room.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why your daughter’s anxiety is not a report card on your parenting The three filters for anything you say to her: simple, short, focused on her How to open the door without a lecture (or a slammed door) Why your story can wait, even if you’ve been there and done that What James 1:5 says about asking for wisdom when you don’t know what to say Your one step this week: pick one low-pressure moment, maybe in the car, and say one simple sentence that opens the door. Tue, 20 Oct 2026 - 144 - 140 | Scared to Ask for Help? Why “I Can Handle It” Is Costing You So Much {TEENS}
Hey doll!Somebody asks if you’re okay, and before you can even think, it slips right out: “I’m good. I can handle it.” Baby sis, that might be the most expensive sentence you’ll say all year.Today I’ve got my coaching hat on, and I’m calling you out a little bit. That’s because “I can handle it” usually isn’t about being stubborn. It’s about being scared. I’m sharing the time saying it almost put me in the hospital, what pride really has to do with anxiety, and what God’s Word says about asking for help.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why “I can handle it” costs you your peace How pride becomes the armor fear puts on The college story that taught me to stop pushing through alone What Proverbs 13:10 says about strife, wisdom, and taking advice Who counts as wise counsel (hint: it doesn’t have to be a coach) Your one step this week: the next time you hear yourself say “I can handle it,” ask one person for help with one small thing.Tuesday’s episode is for your mom, so ask her to listen with you.xo, Kristen🎧 Follow Anxious Christian Teen so you never miss an episode.WANNA GO DEEPER, BABY SIS? Fri, 16 Oct 2026 - 143 - 139 | Putting Off a Difficult Conversation With Mom? There’s Never a Good Time {IN THE CAR}
How do I tell my mom I’m not okay?Hey doll. There’s something you’ve been meaning to tell your mama. Maybe you’ve almost said it a few times. In the kitchen. On the drive home from practice. Right before she turned off your light. And every single time, you decided later would be better.Telling your mama you’re struggling with anxiety is scary. It means admitting you’re not quite as “fine” as you’ve let her believe. You don’t want her to feel like she did something wrong, you don’t want her to panic, and you definitely don’t want her to brush it off. So you wait for the right time. But here’s the truth, baby sis: the perfect moment to have a difficult conversation doesn’t exist. The best we can do is find the calmest one.This one’s for you and your mama, so listen together or go grab her after.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why “later” isn’t really a time, it’s avoidance wearing a costume Why anxiety isn’t something broken in you, it’s something that developed a little too well How to pick the calmest moment for a difficult conversation Your permission slip to practice what you do and don’t want to say A breath prayer to pray right before you walk down the hall to find her Mama, the one thing your girl needs from you when she finally says it (spoiler: it’s not a fix) Your one step this week: Pick your calm moment. You don’t have to do anything but notice when it shows up.Next episode: We’re talking about why “I can handle it” might be the sentence keeping you stuck, and why needing help doesn’t mean you failed.xo, Kristen🎧 Follow Anxious Christian Teen so you never miss an episode, and share this one with a friend who tends to put off her own hard conversations.Mentions: Free script for asking your parents about getting a coach: anxiouschristianteen.com/scriptWANNA GO DEEPER, BABY SIS?Step 1: Grab the free PEACE Playbook, your first tool for the anxious moment: anxiouschristianteen.com/peaceStep 2: Not sure where to start? Tue, 13 Oct 2026 - 142 - 138 | Not ‘Bad Enough’ to Need Help? That’s the Anxiety Talking {TEENS}
Is my anxiety bad enough to get help? If you’ve ever asked yourself that, lying in bed replaying your whole day, this one’s for you.Anxiety is everywhere right now. Everybody’s “so anxious” about the test, the game, the group chat. So when your stomach turns, your heart races, and your brain won’t stop picking apart every little thing, it’s easy to decide that’s just normal, and that other girls need help way more than you do.Baby sis, that’s not humility. That’s the anxiety talking. And I know, because in high school I sat across from a school counselor and convinced her I was totally fine.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why anxiety being a buzzword makes it harder to recognize your own The simple test for telling stress from anxiety What my 4-H speaking contest taught me about healthy stress The day I talked my way out of the counselor’s office, and what I was really protecting How to know when a coach is enough, and when it’s time for counseling What 2 Timothy 1:7 says about living in fear Your one step this week: next time something stressful happens, notice what happens after it’s over. Fri, 09 Oct 2026 - 141 - 137 | How to Set Boundaries With Friends Without Feeling Like a Mean Girl {TEENS}
Hey doll,Have you ever felt like the mean girl just for saying no?I have. I was supposed to be going bowling with a girlfriend, and we ended up meeting up with a couple of other people instead. I felt paranoid the entire time, and when we left, I felt nauseous and gross from head to toe. I knew that wasn’t where I wanted to be, but saying no felt like it would make me seem too goody-goody.Here’s what I want you to hear: a boundary only feels mean when your worth depends on being liked. Boundaries have nothing to do with anyone but you. They’re for your own peace of mind.In this episode, I’m walking you through why boundaries give you guardrails, how they protect your peace, and a simple three-step tool called D-A-C, so you can say no to your friends gently, without the guilt.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why saying no feels mean, and what your worth has to do with it How boundaries give you guardrails when everyone around you is “living it up” How boundaries protect your peace, with Proverbs 4:23 The D-A-C tool: Define, Accountability, Communicate How to gently communicate a change to your friends Your one step this week: Pick one thing you want to say no to, and define it. That’s your D. Tue, 06 Oct 2026 - 140 - 136 | Teen Daughter Says She’s Fine. What to Do Instead of Pressing {MOMS}
Hey Mama!“I’m fine.” Two little words, and your daughter can say them with a smile, a good grade in her backpack, and a whole lot going on underneath.If your teen daughter is a high achiever, she hates to admit she’s struggling. It’s a whole lot easier to internalize it than it is to talk about it and try to work on it. She may even be ashamed she can’t control her feelings better, because she’s convinced herself it’s a sign of weakness or a lack of faith.And if you believed her? Of course you did. In this episode, one mom to another, I share what I was doing behind my own closed door when I was the “fine” girl, and three things to do instead of pressing.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why “I’m fine” is the easiest thing a high achiever says all day - Why a teen daughter keeps anxiety to herself instead of talking about it - How to respond without adding to the pressure she’s already putting on herself - Why sharing your own story, even with the best intentions, can make her shut down - What listening looks like when she needs either a safe place to word vomit or a quiet place to sitOne step this week: The next time she says “I’m fine,” skip the follow-up question. Stay close, stay quiet, and let her show you which way this is going.Next time: On Tuesday, we’re talking about how to set a boundary without feeling like the mean girl. Fri, 02 Oct 2026 - 139 - 135 | Anxiety Bible Verses Feel Fake? Stop Giving God the Polite Version {TEENS}
Hey doll, are you telling God the polite version?You know the one. "God, thank You for today. Please help me with my week. Amen." Nothing wrong with that prayer, but underneath it, there's usually another one. The one you're not saying. And it's not because you don't love God. It's because you've gotten really, really good at looking fine.Here's what I want you to hear: He already knows the real one. He's not waiting for you to get it cleaned up. He's waiting for you to say it.In this episode, we're talking about why you can read every anxiety verse out there and still feel stuck. God gave us an instruction manual for everything we'll ever face, but reading it without being open with Him is just going through the motions. I'm sharing a moment from my own teen years, when I sat on a church pew with my stomach in knots, and we're walking through how to express the real thing to God. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the polite version of your prayer keeps the real feeling unnamed Why reading anxiety verses alone can leave you stuck Why you don't have to fix yourself before you take it to God What 1 Peter 5:7 means when it says to cast all your anxieties on Him Why you don't have to know the root of your anxiety to start, only be willing to name what you're thinking and feeling How to ask God for clarity and for the fear at the root to go, even if you can't name it yet One step this week: Say the real sentence to God, out loud or in your head, and don't edit it: "What I'm actually scared of is ______." Then ask Him for clarity and for the fear to go. Messy counts.Next up: On Friday, let your mom know it's for her. Tue, 29 Sep 2026 - 138 - 134 | “How Was Your Day?” Is The Worst Question to Ask Your Anxious Teen Daughter. Try These Instead. {IN THE CAR WITH MOM}
Hey y’all! This one is for both of you, so go ahead and put it on speaker.The back door opens. A backpack hits the floorboard. The seat belt clicks. “How was your day?” “Fine.” And that’s the whole conversation.Here’s the thing, mama: “how was your day” may be the worst question to ask your daughter. Not because you’re a bad mom. Because it’s easy, it’s safe, and a safe question gets you a safe answer. And doll, you’re in this one too, because a lot of the time “fine” is just what’s left after a long day, before you’ve had a minute to sort any of it.If you’ve been looking for better questions to ask your teenage daughter, this episode is practical and ready to use at your next pickup: four questions that can’t be answered with a yes, a no, or a grunt, a few minutes of settling before you ask, and what to do when she actually answers. Because a less expected question means being ready to listen.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why “how was your day” is the easy, safe question, and why that’s the whole problem Four questions that can’t be answered with a yes, a no, or a grunt Tell me something that made you laugh today. Tell me about something you tried today, big or small, even if it didn’t go great. What’s one thing you learned today that you think I don’t know? What was something kind someone said to you, or something kind you said to someone else? Why “nothing in particular, it was a normal day” is an answer worth celebrating When to ask: after she’s had a few minutes to settle, but before you’re pulling into the driveway What “process and support” really means: opening a door and listening, with no advice unless she asks Doll, why you don’t have to spill your guts to tell your mama about your day Your one step this week: Mom, pick one of the four questions and ask it at your next pickup. Doll, if you need a few minutes to settle, say so, then answer whichever question you get, in your own words.Friday’s episode is yours, doll: how easy it is to tell God the polite version of what’s going on, and what changes when you tell Him the real one.xo, Kristen🎧 Hit follow so the next one shows up in your feed, and send this one to a friend who’s tired of hearing “fine.”WANNA GO DEEPER, BABY SIS?Step 1: Grab the free PEACE Playbook, your first tool for the anxious moment: anxiouschristianteen.com/peaceStep 2: Not sure where to start? Overthinking every text, reading into every silence, bracing for it to fall apart before it's even started?You're not clingy, and you're not "too much." Your anxiety just climbed into the driver's seat of something good.In this episode we talk about why dating anxiety spirals, one tool to stop it mid-scroll, and three truths that let you enjoy liking someone instead of just surviving it.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why liking someone can make your anxiety louder, not quieter The spiral that turns a slow text into a worst-case story The "Real or Likely?" tool to stop overthinking in the moment Why reassurance-seeking backfires, and what to do instead How to date without editing yourself down to keep someone interested This week, your one brave thing: the next time your brain spirals over a text, run it through Real or Likely? before you send anything, then let the silence just be silence. Tue, 22 Sep 2026 - 136 - 132 | Low Self-Esteem? Why Your Inner Critic Won’t Shut Up {TEENS}
Hey doll,You know that voice that finds the one flaw in every good thing? The comment you replay, the missed shot instead of the ones you made, the invite that feels more like being squeezed in than actually wanted? That’s your inner critic, and today we’re talking about why it never actually clocks out.Here’s what I wish someone had told me as a teen: that voice isn’t cruel for no reason, it’s running an audit. It’s grading everything you do against a bar that keeps moving, which means you can do everything right and it still finds something to dock you for. I know that audit inside and out. No matter how many free throws I made, my brain replayed the ones I missed. No matter how included I was, part of me felt like an afterthought.So today we’re not trying to out-perform the critic. We’re talking about anchoring yourself in something it can’t touch.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why your inner critic isn’t being cruel, it’s auditing your performance - Why trying harder never actually quiets it down - What Hebrews 6:19-20 means by calling hope an anchor for the soul - The one question to ask instead of arguing back with the critic - Why your worth was anchored before you ever did a single thing to earn itThis week, the next time that voice hands down a verdict, don’t argue with it point by point. Just ask it one question: is this anchored in truth, or is this just you, doing what you always do?Next time, we’re staying In the Car, talking about what “how was your day” actually gets you and what to ask instead.xo, Kristen🎧 If this one hit home, follow or subscribe so the next episode finds you too.WANNA GO DEEPER, BABY SIS? Maybe it’s not even a big moment: a test, a text still sitting on delivered, the way somebody looked at you in the hallway. Doesn’t matter. Your brain treats it like the whole thing is riding on you.In this one, I’m getting real about my own version of that story: figure-8 drills in basketball practice, and the lengths I’d go to so nobody would ever see me struggle. Spoiler, nobody was actually watching that closely. My inner critic just liked to convince me otherwise.Then we get practical. I’m walking you through something you can use the second you feel a spiral coming on, and it’s physical, not just another thought to think.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why you can’t think your way out of a spiral (and what actually works instead) - The question to ask before the spiral even starts: what am I trying to prove, and to who - How to build your own breath prayer, using my go-to verse as an example - Why prepping this ahead of time matters more than figuring it out mid-spiralOne step this week: pick your breath prayer phrase now, before you need it. Write it down somewhere you’ll actually see it. Not sure where to start? Take the quiz, it’ll match you with a scripture guide for your specific type of anxious.Next time, we’re talking about the inner critic, that voice that convinces you the whole room is watching when nobody ever said a word. We’re gonna talk back to it.xo, Kristen🎧 If this helps you catch a spiral before it started, follow/subscribe so the next episode finds you too.WANNA GO DEEPER, BABY SIS? Tue, 15 Sep 2026 - 134 - 130 | Stressed Out? The Pressure Teen Girls Feel But No One Sees {TEENS}
You feel stressed and you can’t even explain why. From the outside you look completely fine, good grades, good friend, showing up at church. But inside, something’s off, and you can’t point to one clear reason.Here’s what nobody talks about: if you’re a Christian teen girl, you’re not just carrying the normal overthinking, overstimulation stress that everyone your age deals with. You’ve got an extra layer on top. The pressure to perform for the Lord, to be the good example for your church friends and family, to have it all together spiritually on top of everything else.Today we’re naming that pressure and giving you something real to do with it.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why Christian teen girls carry a double layer of stress that most people never talk about - The real tension between wanting to fit in and being called to be set apart - A simple nightly tool called Name the Good, and why writing it down (not typing it) matters - What 1 Corinthians 13:12 has to do with not having it all figured out yet - One thing you can do tonight to start building a list you can lean on laterOne step this week: Grab a notebook. Fri, 11 Sep 2026 - 133 - 129 | Can't Talk to Your Mom About Anxiety? Ask This {IN THE CAR WITH MOM}
This one is for both of you. Put it on speaker.There is a conversation you two have been circling for months. Both of you know it is sitting there. Neither one of you opens it. So you get the forty minute drive and about ninety seconds of real information, and everybody keeps breathing.Here is what is actually happening. One of you is scared of being a disappointment. The other one is scared of not knowing how to help. Same fear, two different outfits. And “fine” is a relief for both of you, which is exactly why it keeps working.So today we are facing the elephant in the room. Or the car. Or wherever y’all are listening from. This is a short one, but I am going to give each of you one question and make you actually answer it out loud, right there, to each other. Not tonight. Now.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why “how was your day” gets you “fine” every single time, and what to ask instead The one question your daughter is scared to ask you, and why counting to ten before you answer it changes everything The one question you are scared to answer, and why “I don’t know” isn’t the truth The three rules that keep this from turning into a fight in a moving vehicle: no fixing, no defending, no “but” Why being quiet was never a verdict on your parenting, and what to do with what she tells you Your one thing this week: Mom, next time you see it on her face, do the specific thing she named in the car. Do not improve it, do not add to it, just do it. Doll, tell her one thing you were going to round down. Just one.Friday - doll, that one is yours. We are getting into the stressed out feeling you cannot explain, where somebody asks what is wrong and you have got nothing. There is pressure on you nobody else can see, and I am going to help you name it.xo, KristenFollow the show wherever you are listening. Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 132 - 128 | Intrusive Thoughts in Christian Teen Girls: How to Fight Back {TEENS}
That thought that just showed up out of nowhere? The one that said your friend group only tolerates you, or that you always come in second because somebody is always smarter, more talented, more athletic? You didn’t choose to think that. It landed on you.Here’s what I need you to know first: a thought showing up in your head is not proof that something is wrong with you, and it is not your fault. In this episode we talk about what an intrusive thought actually is, why I believe the Enemy uses them on purpose to keep you stuck in your own head, and the three step tool that lets you fight back with something better than positive thinking.We’re sitting in 2 Corinthians 10:5, and I’m going to show you why “take every thought captive” is the most practical verse in your Bible.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: What an intrusive thought actually is, in plain terms, and what it isn’t Why a thought that feels true is not the same thing as a thought that is true The CCS tool: catch it, call it, swap it, in about three seconds Why arguing with the thought never works, and replacing it does Why these hit hardest when you’re tired, and why that is not a flaw in you This week, your one brave thing: the next time one of those thoughts lands, don’t debate it. Run CCS on it one time. Catch it, that was a thought. Call it, that’s not a fact. Swap it, here’s what’s actually true. Just once, and notice what happens when you stop treating that thing like information.On Friday we’re getting in the car, and it’s one for you and your mom to listen to together. Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 131 - 127 | You Can’t Think Your Way Out of Anxiety. Try This 90-Second Reset Instead! {TEENS}
You cannot think your way out of anxiety. If you've ever sat in a desk before a test, running “you studied, you are fine, it is just a test” on a loop and feeling worse every single lap, this one is for you.I was the girl whose stomach rolled before state testing. Not nervous. Physically ill, on the verge of throwing up, praying nobody looked over. And I was trying so hard to reason my way to calm. It never worked, not one time, because the brain is the thing that is spinning. Asking it to fix itself is like asking the fire to put out the fire.What I didn't have at fifteen was something simple to actually do. Today I'm giving you the whole framework I teach my clients, all five steps of the PEACE Plan, start to finish, nothing held back. Five steps. Ninety seconds. Something you can run between classes, before the test, or standing in a bathroom stall.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why trying to reason with anxiety makes it louder instead of quieter All five steps of the PEACE Plan, walked in order What you are actually afraid of before a test, and it is not the questions How to pray the real thing instead of the polite version Why peace is not a feeling you wait for Your one step this week: Do not wait until you are falling apart to try it. Run the five steps once tonight while you are calm, so your body already knows them when you actually need them.Coming Friday: Intrusive thoughts, and why having them does not mean something is wrong with you.xo, KristenFollow the show so it shows up for you every week.LET’S CONNECT! 🕊️ Free PEACE Plan Playbook: anxiouschristianteen.com/peace 🩶 Free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community ❓ What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You?: anxiouschristianteen.com/quiz
Tue, 01 Sep 2026 - 130 - 126 | Why Doesn't Peace in the Bible Feel Like Peace to You? {TEENS}
When's the last time you actually felt peaceful? Not distracted, not tired into numbness, but peaceful?If you're anything like I was at your age, that answer might be "I don't really know." Somewhere along the way, most of us got taught that peace is something you get to after you've done enough, after the grade's good, after the group chat feels safe again, after the outfit's right. So we keep proving, and peace stays three steps ahead like it's always about to arrive.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why peace keeps feeling out of reach no matter how much you get done The lie that says "I'll feel okay once ___" and why the blank never gets filled What Matthew 11:28-30 actually says about rest, not reward Why God's peace is soul-deep, not just relief for the moment The one shift that moves you from proving to receiving This week's one step: The next time you catch yourself thinking "I'll feel okay once ___," stop and finish that sentence out loud. Then hand it to God instead.Tuesday, we go deeper: the full PEACE Plan framework, how to get out of your head in under five minutes, wherever you are.xo, Kristen🎧 If this met you where you are, follow the show so the next one finds you too.LET'S CONNECT! 🕊️ Free PEACE Playbook: anxiouschristianteen.com/peace 🩶 Free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community ❓ What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You?: anxiouschristianteen.com/quiz
Fri, 28 Aug 2026 - 129 - 125 | How a Teen Can Talk to Her Mom About Anxiety Without Faking It {IN THE CAR WITH MOM}
What if you are both trying to prove something to each other?If there are two of you in that car right now, you are probably both performing. Mom is working hard to look like she has the answers. Daughter is working just as hard to look like she is fine. And you are sitting three feet apart, burning yourselves out trying to be okay in front of each other.Here is the part that gets me: all that proving is not doing the actual thing. Nobody is getting the support she needs. Nobody is learning the skills she is missing. It is just two tired people managing an image.In this episode I am giving you one tool, and it is the same tool for both of you. It is called Pause the Proving, and there is a spot in the middle where I am going to ask you to hit pause and actually say something out loud to each other. In the car. Yes, really. And before anybody gets defensive, I will tell you about the time I completely missed panic attacks in my own kid, while working as a school counselor who spots anxiety in teen girls for a living.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why moms and daughters both end up performing, and how it quietly raises anxiety instead of lowering it The one fear underneath both sides of the car (it is the same fear wearing different clothes) The Pause the Proving tool, with a specific move for mom and a specific move for daughter Why “I do not have all the answers” makes you stronger in her eyes, not weaker What honest vulnerability actually looks like for a teen girl (hint: it is one sentence, not a breakdown) Your one step this week: One true sentence. That is it. One of you says one honest thing to the other one before Friday. It can be at the kitchen counter with your back turned, loading the dishwasher. That counts.Coming up Friday: We are talking about what peace in the Bible actually is, and why it is not a feeling you sit around waiting for. Tue, 25 Aug 2026 - 128 - 124 | Anxiety Coping Skills Wore Off by Second Period? Here's Why {TEENS}
Somebody told you to breathe. Maybe it was me. And you tried it, right there in second period, four counts in and four counts out, and your chest was still tight and your face was still hot and nothing happened. So you closed the app. You stopped reaching for it. And somewhere in the back of your head you decided it doesn't work on you.That's not what happened, doll.The anxiety coping skills you've been handed are good ones. But nobody sat you down and told you the part that actually matters: a coping skill has a window. There's a moment where it works, and there's a moment where you're too far past it. And if nobody teaches you the difference, it's going to feel like you're the thing that's broken.In this episode I'm telling you about ninth grade, my favorite red, white and blue checked pants, and the day I hid in a bathroom because the breathing didn't save me. Then I walked back into class and pulled out my geometry book, because nobody questions a girl hunched over geometry. We're covering the three real reasons the tools wore off, and the one thing running underneath all three that nobody talks about.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why one attempt at a coping skill was never a fair test of whether it works The difference between doing the thing and actually doing the thing, and why half-hearted breathing never had a chance Why a calm body plus the same old lie is exactly why your peace wears off by second period The timing piece nobody teaches you, and why you keep reaching for the tool too late How to pair a coping skill with truth so it holds longer than a hallway Your one step this week: Catch your four. One time this week, before anything is wrong, notice what a four feels like in your body. Your shoulders, your jaw, your stomach, the rereading. Find your tell. You can't reach for a tool at a four if you've never once noticed what a four feels like.Coming up Tuesday: an In the Car episode for you and your mom, about what happens when you're both sitting there trying to prove something to each other. She's proving she's got it handled. You're proving you're fine. Fri, 21 Aug 2026 - 127 - 123 | How to Get Over a Breakup & Feel Like Yourself Again {TEENS}
Hey doll, this one came from you. One of you asked for this exact episode, so if that’s you, I hope you feel how much I mean it when I say I see you. 🫶🏻 Because right now you might be lying awake replaying the hallway, a text, a look on his face, wondering what you could’ve done differently. Or you’re doing your hair and makeup for school, not because you feel like it, but because some part of you is trying to prove something to someone who’s not even watching anymore.I’ve been there. Not in theory. In the actual crying yourself to sleep, forcing yourself to get ready anyway kind of there. So today we’re talking about how to actually get over a breakup and feel like yourself again, not fake fine, not just distract and hope, actually feel like you.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why a breakup can hit way harder than people expect, and what your brain is actually doing about it - What grief for a relationship can honestly look like (it’s not a straight line) - A tool to set a real, visible deadline for the wallowing, without rushing the grief itself - Why rebuilding through hobbies and new things matters more than you think, especially right now - How to lean on your people without needing them to hold the whole thing togetherThis week, your one step: pull out your calendar today and pick your date. Circle it, highlight it, bold it, whatever makes it impossible to ignore. That’s not a deadline on your grief, it’s a deadline on the wallowing.Friday we’re getting into why the coping skills you’ve already tried keep falling apart the second you actually need them, so don’t miss that one.love ya mean it,Kristen🎧 If this one helped, follow the show so the next episode finds you too.LET’S CONNECT! 🕊️ Free PEACE Playbook: anxiouschristianteen.com/peace 🩶 Free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community ❓ What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You?: anxiouschristianteen.com/quiz
Tue, 18 Aug 2026 - 126 - 122 | Your Teenage Daughter Looks Fine. She's Not. {MOMS}
Hey mama. If it's late and you're up searching for this, you are not failing her. You're paying attention, and that's everything.How do you know if what you're seeing is normal teen stuff or something more? That's the question underneath this episode. Because so many of the girls who are struggling the most are also the ones who look, from the outside, like they've got it all together.In this episode, we talk about why her hiding isn't dishonesty, it's fear of disappointing you. We unpack the three pulls she's juggling at once (you, her peers, and her faith), and why "I'm fine" so often means she wants to be seen, not fixed.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the quiet, high-achieving daughter can be the one struggling most The real reason she hides what she's feeling from you (hint: it's not dishonesty) The three pressures she's balancing at once, and why that's exhausting What "I'm fine" actually means when her smile doesn't reach her eyes One simple shift in how you respond that can open the door back up This week, try this: the next time she says "I'm fine" and you're not so sure, just say, "Okay. I'm here whenever you're ready." Fri, 14 Aug 2026 - 125 - 121 | Perfectionism Isn't Real: You're Scared You're Not Enough {TEENS}
Hey doll, be honest with yourself for a second. Have you ever built a whole color-coded timeline for one test? Studied for hours after you already knew the material cold? Talked your mom into quizzing you one more time before bed, then still couldn't sleep because there was "just a little more" to cram in? If any of that sounds familiar, I need you to hear this: that's not dedication. That's anxiety wearing a really convincing outfit.In this episode, I'm walking you through why perfectionism isn't actually a personality trait, it's fear doing math, where anything less than 100% gets filed as total failure. We're talking about the straight A's that never quite feel like enough, the bubble guts before a test gets handed back, and what's really going on underneath all that overplanning.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why perfectionism is anxiety, not a personality trait or high standards The "100% or failure" math that's driving the pressure you feel Why the proof never actually lands, even when you make the grade What overplanning is really doing for you (hint: it's not studying) Where your worth actually comes from, and why no grade gets a vote This week, your one step: the next time you catch yourself overplanning something that's already handled, stop and ask, "Am I preparing, or am I just trying to outrun a feeling?" And come back Friday, because we're talking to the moms about this exact thing, the girls who look like they have it all together, and what's actually going on underneath.xo,Kristen🎧 Loving the podcast? Tue, 11 Aug 2026 - 124 - 120 | When Your Teen Daughter Says 'I'm Fine': How to Talk About Anxiety Symptoms Together {IN THE CAR WITH MOM}
She said "I'm fine." You don't believe her. She's not sure she believes herself.I was that girl in the passenger seat. On the way to a basketball game, stomach churning, so tense I thought I might be sick. My mom, who loved me, gave me a pep talk. I didn't say a word back. I shut down and looked out the window the whole rest of the way.She wasn't wrong to try. It just wasn't what I needed. I didn't need to be motivated. I needed somebody to listen.This one's for both of you at the same time, mom and daughter, right there in the car. Because the problem is almost never that she won't talk. It's when you're asking, how you're sitting, and what words you're using.What You'll Learn in This Episode: What "I'm fine" actually means, and why it's usually not a lie Why the moment you most want to ask is the worst possible time to ask The reason hard conversations go better in the car than across the kitchen table Why using her slang closes the door instead of opening it What a girl needs before she needs advice Your one step this week: Mom, take one drive and don't ask her anything. Not one question. Her music, eyes on the road, let the quiet sit. Baby sis, one time this week, swap "I'm fine" for "I don't know how to say it yet."Tuesday, we're talking about the girl who calls herself a perfectionist. High standards, likes things done right. Hey doll - be honest for a second. Are you already dreading the first day of school? And are you doing it quietly, where nobody around you would ever guess?I was that girl. Tenth grade, geometry on my schedule, my bestie in a different class, and a zit on my chin I was convinced the entire school was about to notice. And you'd never have known a single bit of it, because I put on a face. I always wore a mask. Here's what kept me stuck the longest: I thought my face was working, and I thought everybody else's face was real. In this episode I'm walking you through two things - why nobody in that building is watching you as closely as you're watching yourself, and what to do with the parts of your schedule that didn't go your way.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the girls who look the most "fine" are often the ones struggling the most What's actually running through your head the morning you walk in looking totally normal Why the girl you're sure has it all together is doing the exact same math about you How to flip the script on the schedule, locker, or lunch period you didn't want The baby steps that absolutely count as brave when you're already managing anxiety This week, pick one baby step for day one. Tue, 21 Jul 2026 - 118 - 114 | Peace That Doesn't Make Sense: How Christian Teen Girls Calm Anxiety
Ever been overwhelmed by everything at once — the group chat, the test, the friend who went quiet — and had someone tell you to "just have peace about it"? Like peace is a switch and you're the only one who never found it?In this episode we sit in Philippians 4:6-7 and talk about the kind of peace that doesn't make sense on paper — the calm that shows up while everything is still messy — plus a simple tool to calm the anxiety the second it hits.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why "just calm down" never works when you're overwhelmed Why feeling anxious doesn't mean your faith is weak What Philippians 4:6-7 actually says about peace (hint: it's an invitation, not a scolding) The "Name It and Hand It" tool for the moment the wave hits Why God's peace is a guard, not a mood you have to force This week, your one brave thing: the next time everything feels like too much, don't try to fix it all — name it, and hand it over to God, out loud. You're not a weak Christian for feeling overwhelmed. You're a girl learning to hand it over — and that's strength, not failure.xo,Kristen 🎧 Follow/subscribe so you don't miss a thing.LET'S CONNECT! 🎓 Save your seat for the FREE Ditch Back-to-School Anxiety Masterclass: anxiouschristianteen.com/back2school (7/29/26 at 7pm CST) 🫶🏻 Free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community ❓ What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You? Fri, 17 Jul 2026 - 117 - 113 | "What If" to "Even If": Finding Peace from Panic Attacks & People-Pleasing {Guest Ashanti Watson}
Have you ever been the girl who looks totally fine on the outside — smiling, showing up, holding it all together — while inside you're panicking and praying nobody notices? My guest this week, Ashanti Watson, lived exactly that. She was the sunshine in every room while quietly having four and five panic attacks a day, carrying a shame she thought she had to hide.In this episode, Ashanti shares the moment everything shifted — a breakdown in her car that became a turning point — and the simple, powerful tools she used to trade fear-based thinking for faith-based thinking. If your brain runs on "what if," this one's going to feel like a breath of fresh air.What You'll Learn in This Episode Why anxiety can hide behind a smile — and why "just pray about it" leaves so many faith-filled girls feeling ashamed instead of helped How people-pleasing and "good girl syndrome" quietly get fueled by the fear of rejection The "what if" → "even if" reframe (straight out of Daniel 3) that settles anxiety in the moment A simple self-awareness question — "What is good right now?" — to ground yourself when panic rises and you can't even name why What real faith actually looks like (hint: it's not being happy and positive all the time) The line worth framing: "Do your best and let God handle the rest." Take This Into Your WeekThe next time your mind starts spinning out with "what if she doesn't like me" or "what if it all goes wrong," try catching that thought and swapping in "even if." Even if it doesn't work out, God's got another plan. Even if it's hard, you're still going to be okay. You don't have to control the outcome — that part was never yours to carry. Do your best, and let God handle the rest.xo, Kristen🎧 If this episode spoke to you, follow the show so you never miss one, and share it with a friend who needs to hear it.CONNECT WITH ASHANTI WATSON: Podcast: Get Free from Anxiety Check out the episode mentioned in today's episode: 136 | How to Stop the “What If” Spiral Before It Begins and Keep It From Coming Back Facebook group: Anxiety Support for Christian Women Her weekly email newsletter — real, faith-based tips for changing your thinking and growing your faith If you have a mom, aunt, or another woman in your life who struggles with anxiety, Ashanti is my number-one recommendation for her!CONNECT WITH KRISTEN Ready for support that gets it? 1:1 coaching → anxiouschristianteen.com/coaching Facebook group → anxiouschristianteen.com/community What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You? Tue, 14 Jul 2026 - 116 - 112 | You're Not Your Feed — 4 Tools to Ditch Social Media Anxiety & Feel Confident
Hey doll — last episode I told you that you'll never find your self-esteem on social media, and so many of you wrote back with the same question: "Okay, but I can't delete my whole life. So now what?" This episode is the "now what."I'm not here to tell you to throw your phone in a lake. Social media is a tool — the problem is when you get wrapped up inside it and who you are online starts deciding how you feel all day. So today I'm giving you four practical, faith-based tools to ditch social media anxiety, unwrap your identity from the feed, and feel confident in your own skin again. Because you're not your feed.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why social media anxiety hits teen girls especially hard — and why that's development, not weakness The "Posting Pause" — one question to ask before you post so you're not fishing for proof you're okay How to pair it with the "Scroll Check" for going in and coming out of the feed Three ways to unwrap your identity from social media: guardrails, curating your feed, and anchoring who you are off the screen Where real, unshakeable confidence comes from — and why no algorithm gets a vote This week, pick just one small step: set one guardrail, or unfollow one account that steals your peace. Just one — that's how this starts. You don't have to quit social media to feel peaceful in your own skin; you just have to stop letting it be the mirror.xo, Kristen🎧 Loving the podcast? Fri, 10 Jul 2026 - 115 - 111 | 3 Reasons Social Media Fuels Your Anxiety & Steals Your Self-Esteem
Hey doll — be honest with yourself for a sec. How many times today did you open an app, start scrolling, and somehow end up feeling smaller? Like everybody else has it figured out and you're the only one who doesn't? If you've been quietly using social media to feel better about yourself, I have to tell you gently: you're never going to find your self-esteem there. It's not there. It never was. But that's actually good news. In this episode I'm walking you through three real reasons scrolling fuels your anxiety and steals your self-esteem — and where that steady, God-given confidence actually comes from. Because your worth was settled long before your first post.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why social media can never give you the self-esteem you're aching for The "Scroll Check" — one question that breaks the comparison spiral in the moment How chasing likes and followers quietly fuels anxiety instead of easing it Why thousands of followers can still leave you feeling like the loneliest girl at school Where your real, unshakeable worth comes from — and why no algorithm gets a vote This week, do the Scroll Check: every time your phone leaves you feeling smaller, ask, "Real life, or highlight reel?" and let that put your feet back on solid ground. And come back Friday — we're talking about how to manage the anxiety social media stirs up and how to unwrap your identity from it.xo,Kristen🎧 Loving the podcast? Tue, 07 Jul 2026 - 114 - 110 | Social Anxiety Is Lying to You About Who to Trust
Here's the thing about social anxiety — it doesn't stay in the hallway at school. You know that feeling, right? Like everyone's eyes are on you, and your brain's already running through every way you could mess this up? That feeling doesn't clock out when the bell rings. It follows you home. It follows you straight into your closest friendships — the ones that actually matter — and has you replaying a text for the hundredth time, wondering if she's mad at you.And here's what's so sneaky about it: social anxiety doesn't just make you doubt yourself. It makes you doubt the people who are actually safe — the ones who really do have your back. So today, I'm giving you 3 clear signs — no guessing, no overthinking — that tell you exactly who you can actually trust.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why social anxiety doesn't just make you doubt yourself — it makes you doubt the people who are actually safe The real reason your mind won't stop replaying that text (and how to bring yourself back to the present) A simple pros-and-cons tool to check anxious thoughts against what you actually know to be true The 3 signs that tell you exactly who you can trust — Active Support, Honesty, and Mutual Respect Why trusting your gut again is the first step back to real peace Here's what I want you to do this week: think of one friend, just one, and run her through these three signs. Not to go looking for reasons to cut her off — but to actually see her clearly, instead of through the fog of lies your anxiety's been telling you. And girl, that clarity? That's where your peace starts to come back.xo, Kristen🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything!LET'S CONNECT! Fri, 03 Jul 2026 - 113 - 109 | Why Does Nobody Tell Teen Girls God Leads You Through Anxiety, Not Around It?
Hey doll! I spent last week as a fully unhinged VBS volunteer — and the Ireland theme (sheep, highland cows, Psalm 23) would not let me go. Because I kept thinking about you.Here's something nobody tells teen girls enough: God is not trying to get you around your anxiety. He's not promising to remove the hard stuff before you walk through it. Psalm 23 is actually really clear about this — and once you see it, you can't unsee it. In this episode: Why David wrote Psalm 23 in the middle of danger — and why that changes everything How the enemy really shows up (hint: not with a pitchfork) Why Psalm 23 is a battle plan, not a calm-down script What "He leads" actually requires of you The Shepherd's Pause — a 4-step tool for the next time anxiety hits xo, KristenLet's connect: Get on the email list: anxiouschristianteen.com/insider Join the free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community Find out what type of anxious teen girl you are: anxiouschristianteen.com/quiz Coaching: anxiouschristianteen.com/coaching

Self-doubt is lying to you. And today, I'm going to show you exactly how it does it.You said something in the group chat, walked into a room where everyone seemed to have it together, or typed a text four times before deleting it — and that voice kicked in. But baby sis, it is not.In this episode, we're talking about where self-doubt really comes from, why it's so hard to catch, and one simple question you can ask when the spiral starts.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why self-doubt is a lie — not a personality trait or a diagnosis How Satan uses your own voice to make the lie feel believable The pattern that shows up every single time (hint: it's always right before the brave thing) What Romans 8:1 says about the voice that tears you down One practical question to ask yourself when the self-doubt spiral starts You are not broken. Ever feel like Jesus is up there keeping score — tallying every mistake, disappointed in you again? That voice you're hearing? It might not be who you think.In this episode, I'm joined by John Merrill Kirkman, host of Walking with the Savior, for a conversation about anxiety, identity, and the sneaky lies that keep so many of us stuck. We break down "SCAM" (Spiritual Critic And Manipulator) and how to recognize when your own thoughts are actually attacks on your worth. And John shares a simple tool you can use anytime your anxiety starts spiraling — one that takes about 90 seconds and works with your faith, not against it.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why Jesus is your teammate, not your referee How to spot "SCAM" thoughts before they take over A 90-second tool to bring your anxiety down in real time Why repentance isn't about shame — it's about restoring relationship How shifting your focus outward (instead of inward) can quiet anxiety Why you don't have to wait for "your moment" to find purpose You are not too much, and you are not behind. Tue, 02 Jun 2026 - 103 - 100 | "I'm Enough" Is A LIE That's Making Your Anxiety Worse
You've probably said it. Maybe you've even had it said to you at just the right moment when you needed to hear something. "I am enough." It sounds kind. It sounds empowering. We'll talk about the Prove-It Trap, why the harder you pull to get out of it the tighter it gets, and what to say instead that actually sets you free.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why "I am enough" is a lie when viewed through a Christian worldview How believing you're enough on your own merit quietly separates you from God What the Prove-It Trap is and why you're probably already in one Why this trap looks like confidence from the outside — and exhaustion on the inside The simple reframe that repositions your worth from something you create to something you receive You were never meant to hold yourself up. Your social anxiety might not just be making you nervous — it could be quietly wrecking your friendships, and the hardest part? And in this episode, we're talking about why you feel it, why it doesn't mean your faith is broken, and the one simple practice that can interrupt the spiral when anxiety about the future starts taking over.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why fear of the unknown is neurologically normal — not a faith failure What Scripture actually says about not being able to see what's ahead Why your parents are scared too (and what to do with that) Why faith and fear can — and do — coexist The "Next Right Step" practice for when anxiety starts to spiral You don't have to have the next five years figured out. You just have to take the next faithful step.xo,Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! LET'S CONNECT! If graduation 🎓 is coming and you feel more anxious than excited — this episode is for you.We're talking about the real reason graduation triggers anxiety in teen girls: it's not about lacking faith or being ungrateful. It's about your brain losing the familiar structure it's depended on for over a decade — and not knowing what comes next.In this episode, we cover why fear of the unknown is a normal nervous system response, how performance-based identity makes transitions even harder, and how one simple tool — the brain dump — can help you get out of your head and back into peace.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why graduation anxiety is a nervous system response, not a faith failure The fear underneath the fear (it's not really about graduation) How losing familiar structure triggers anxiety, even when you have a plan How performance-based identity makes transitions harder Step-by-step instructions for a brain dump How to use a brain dump as a form of prayer You don't have to have it all figured out to find peace. Tue, 05 May 2026 - 95 - 92 | I Thought Moms Were My Audience — You Proved Me Wrong
Ya girl made a call in April, and it didn't land. So today, I'm doing what I tell teen girls to do all the time — owning it, course-correcting, and moving forward without shame.Here's the truth: I looked at some data back in March and assumed moms were my primary audience. I pivoted the show toward them. Turns out? The majority of you listening are teen girls — and you let me know. I heard you, baby sis. And I'm coming back to you.In this episode, I share what happened, why it matters, and why owning your mistakes without falling apart is one of the most powerful things you can do.What You'll Hear in This Episode: The assumption I made — and why it was wrong What the real data (aka you) told me A genuine apology, no fluff attached Why course-correcting without shame is a skill worth building What this show is really about — and who it's really for If you've ever felt like you don't have a safe adult in your corner, this episode is for you. Fri, 01 May 2026 - 94 - 91 | Your Stressed Teen Girl Keeps Withdrawing - Here's What She Wishes She Could Tell You {Pt 4/4}
If you've ever watched your daughter pull away and wondered whether to push, back off, or just wait — this one's for you.In this episode, we're talking about what's actually happening when your stressed teen girl withdraws. Not the behavior you see on the surface, but what's driving it — and why your response matters more than you might realize.We'll break down the anxiety-avoidance loop, what emotional withdrawal actually feels like from Emma's side of the door, and the one tactical shift that can change the dynamic without forcing or enabling.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why avoidance isn't defiance — it's your daughter's brain doing exactly what it was designed to do The difference between behavioral avoidance and emotional withdrawal (and why both matter) Why pushing harder usually backfires — and why doing nothing does too The "stay curious, not corrective" approach and how to use it in real moments What Emma needs to hear from you before she'll ever open up Your daughter's withdrawal is not about you. It's about a nervous system trying to protect her from something that feels bigger than she knows how to handle right now.xo, Kristen 🎧 Be sure to follow or subscribe so you don't miss anything! Her body is actually telling you the truth.In this episode, we're talking about the connection between anxiety and physical symptoms in teen girls — why it's real, what it looks like, and what you can do about it.What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why anxiety symptoms often show up in the body before they ever show up in words The most common physical signs of anxiety in teen girls — and why they're not manipulation The patterns to watch for (hint: it's not that she has symptoms, it's when) Why "the doctor said you're fine" can actually make anxiety worse One simple, practical phrase to try the next time her body is saying what her words can't Your daughter is not being dramatic. It's not a love problem. It's a connection problem. And the good news? It's fixable. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why your teen doesn't feel understood (even when you're trying your hardest) Why comparing your teen experience to hers can unintentionally shut her down How to validate what she's feeling without minimizing it Three practical communication shifts you can use tonight Why where you have the conversation matters as much as how You are not doing this wrong because you don't love her enough. Tue, 14 Apr 2026 - 89 - 86 | Why Telling Your Teen to Stop Is Making Her Anxiety Worse
You've seen it. The nail picking at the dinner table. The cheek biting in the car. Maybe the hair pulling when she thinks no one's watching. And you don't know whether to say something or let it go — because every time you try to address it, something goes sideways.Today we're talking about why teens develop these habits, why your most instinctive responses (even the loving ones) can actually make things worse, and what you can do instead to help your teen daughter feel safe enough to start changing.What You'll Learn in This Episode: What Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs) are and why they're more common in teens than most people realize Why pointing out the habit in the moment can intensify anxiety instead of relieving it How your nonverbal reactions may be communicating more than your words The timing and language that actually opens the door for a real conversation with your teen Simple, research-backed pattern interrupters you can offer Emma — if and when she's ready You don't have to have a perfect response or a perfect plan.
