- 3683 - Not Just for You | Sunday Message (Pastor Jonathan Laurie)
Pastor Jonathan Laurie shares lessons from the story of Jonah, a reluctant evangelist who ran from God’s calling.
Notes:
Focus verse - Jonah 2
Matthew 23:25–27 (NKJV)
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.
“Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.”
Jonah 4:3 (NLT)
“Just kill me now, Lord! I’d rather be dead than alive if what I predicted will not happen.”
#1 God Appoints Circumstances to Bring Us Back
Sometimes we think God is punishing us.
God paid Jesus back for our sin.
Jonah was a historical, biblical character.
2 Kings 14:25
Matthew 12:40 (NKJV)
“For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
God appoints circumstances and storms.
Not to pay us back, but to bring us back.
#2 God Still Sees in the Dark
Jonah 2:1 (NLT)
Read: Jonah 2:1–9 (NLT)
While Jonah sat in darkness inside the great fish, he prayed.
God heard and delivered Jonah out of his fishy prison.
Psalm 139:11–12 (NLT)
I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you.
Israel worshipped one God — the true Creator.
Romans 12:1 (NKJV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Read: Jonah 2:10 –3:5 (NKJV)
#3 Saved From and Saved For
God rescued Jonah from darkness so Jonah could reach others in darkness.
2 Corinthians 5:18–20 (NLT)
Mark 16:15–16 (NLT)
And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.
Romans 10:14 (NLT)
But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?Learn more about this year's Harvest Crusade!

Notes:
Focus verse - Jonah 1
#1 CHRISTIANS HAVE BEEN CALLED TO EVANGELIZE.
#2 WHY DON’T WE SHARE OUR FAITH MORE?
THE FEAR OF REJECTION OR OFFENDING SOMEONE.
WE DON’T SHARE THE GOSPEL DUE TO OUR LACK OF CONFIDENCE OR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE SCRIPTURES.
1 PETER 3:15
THE OBJECTIVE IN EVANGELISM IS NOT TO WIN THE ARGURMENT, BUT TO WIN THE SOUL.
ABOUT HALF OF ALL AMERICAN ADULTS SAY THEY’RE SOMEWHAT OPEN TO HAVING A CONVERSATION ABOUT FAITH OR THE GOSPEL WITH A STRANGER.
WE DON’T SHARE OUR FAITH BECAUSE WE DON’T REALLY CARE.
PEOPLE DON’T CARE ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU KNOW UNTIL THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE.
2 TIMOTHY 2:26
EFFECTIVE SHARING OF ONE’S FAITH STARTS WITH A CONCERN AND A BURDEN.
JONAH ACTUALLY DID HATE THE PEOPLE GOD CALLED HIM TO PREACH TO.
#3 JONAH WAS THE RELUCTANT EVANGELIST.
JONAH WAS NOT JUST RELUCTANT, HE WAS RECALCITRANT.
READ JONAH 1:1–3
"…FOR THEIR WICKEDNESS HAS COME UP BEFORE ME."
JONAH 1:2NINEVAH, A CITY OF THE ASSYRIANS, WAS LEGENDARY FOR ITS CRUELTY.
THE NINEVITES WERE THE AVOWED ENEMIES OF ISRAEL.
THIS WOULD BE LIKE GOD CALLING AN ISRAELI TO GO PREACH TO TEHRAN.
GOD LOVES THE PEOPLE OF IRAN.
THEY ARE SUFFERING UNDER A CRUEL AND AUTHORITARIAN ISLAMIC REGIME.WE ARE HEARING STORIES OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF IRANIANS COMING TO CHRIST.
GOD TAKES NO PLEASURE IN THE DEATH OF THE WICKED.
EZEKIEL 33:11CHRISTIANS WANT TO SEE PEACE IN THE LAND.
#4 WE HAVE OUR MODERN NINEVAHS.
GOD HAS NOT GIVEN UP ON CALFORINA.
THE BOOK OF JONAH IS ALL ABOUT SALVATION-
THE SALVATION OF SOME PAGAN SAILORS FROM A STORM.
THE SALVATION OF A DISOBEDIENT PROPHET.
THE SALVATION OF ONE OF THE MOST WICKED CITIES ON EARTH.GOD SEEMS TO GO OUT OF HIS WAY TO FIND THE MOST UNLIKELY PEOPLE TO USE.
LET’S CONSIDER MOSES’ RESPONSE WHEN CALLED BY GOD TO SPEAK FOR HIM.
EXODUS 4:10–13JEREMIAH FELT HE WAS TOO YOUNG.
THERE IS NO GOOD REASON YOU CAN OFFER AS TO WHY GOD CANNOT AND WILL NOT USE YOU.
GOD IS NOT LOOKING FOR ABILITY. HE IS LOOKING FOR AVAILABILITY.
JONAH REPENTED OF HIS SIN. HE CALLED ON THE LORD
AND GOD HAD MERCY ON HIM.
JONAH 2:10–3:2GOD’S ORDERS ARE THE SAME FOR US AS THEY WERE FOR JONAH.
THE METHOD IS THE SAME TOO. THE GREAT COMMISSION IS, “GO INTO ALL THE WORLD AND PREACH THE GOSPEL.”GOD HAS CHOSEN VERBAL COMMUNICATION TO REACH PEOPLE.
ROMANS 10:14THERE ARE ONLY TWO ROADS IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE:
THE ROAD OF OBEDIENCE OR THE ROAD OF DISOBEDIENCE.#5 THE REASON JONAH DID NOT GO WAS BECAUSE OF A FEAR OF SUCCESS.
JONAH 4:2#6 WE NEED TO GO TO PEOPLE WHO ARE UNLIKE US.
IF GOD BROUGHT REVIVAL TO NINEVAH, IMAGINE WHAT HE CAN DO TODAY.
START BY PRAYING FOR THEM AND NEVER STOP CARING FOR THEM.
GOD CAN SAVE ANYONE AND WANTS TO SAVE EVERYONE.
1 TIMOTHY 2#7 SHARING OUR FAITH CAN BE EXCITING AND FUN!
JESUS TOLD US THERE IS JOY IN HEAVEN OVER EVERY SINNER WHO COMES TO REPENTANCE.
LUKE 15:7THERE IS A HAPPINESS THAT WE ARE MISSING OUT ON IF WE ARE NOT SHARING OUR FAITH. ACTS 20:35
EVERY STEP AWAY FROM GOD IS ALWAYS A STEP DOWN.
WE FAIL TO REALIZE GOD’S PLAN FOR US IS BETTER THAN OUR PLAN FOR OURSELVES.
LETS’ COMMIT TO PRAY FOR PEOPLE THAT DON’T KNOW THE LORD.

The Lord wants us to turn this world right side up for Him. But all too often, the world turns the church upside down. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie takes us to a recent Harvest Crusade for his message called, It’s Time for Another Jesus Revolution. Jesus Revolution is another name for the Jesus Movement of the 60s and 70s . . . and it’s also the name of the hit movie that told the story of Pastor Greg’s life as he grew up during that turbulent time.

- 3670 - P.S. I Love You | Sunday Message
After all the deep truths covered in 1 John, we see an added “P.S.” in John’s following epistles. Pastor Greg Laurie shares they’re filled with love, warning, and encouragement.
Notes:
Focus verse - 2 John 1
2nd and 3rd John are filled with love, warning and encouragement.
We can find comfort in God’s Word—His ultimate love letter to us.
1st John was written to give assurance to believers.
(1 John 5:13)
The Bible promises, “He who began a good work in you will complete it.”
(Philippians 1:6)
Salvation is God’s work from beginning to end. It’s not based on how you feel, it’s based on what Jesus did.
John was refuting something called Gnosticism.
Gnostics did not believe that God came into this world and walked among us.
“If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God.”
(1 John 4:2)
To be a Christian, you must believe that Jesus was born of a virgin and was God among us; that He was fully God and fully man and He died on the cross for our sins, and He bodily rose three days later and will come again.
1 John can be divided into three sections:
1. God is Light (1 John 1:1–2:2)
2. God is Love (1 John 2:3–4:21)
3. God is Life (1 John 5)
Read: 2 John 1:1–3
1. God wants us to walk in truth and love.
Truth without love is harsh. Love without truth is hollow.
Truth anchors us while love moves us.
Truth gives us the message; love gives us the method.
Love is obeying the Lord.
2. When we walk in truth and love the devil will be opposing us.
(2 John 1:7–8)
John has warned us about both Antichrist and Antichrists.
3. God cares about every area of your life.
(3 John 1:1–2)
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
(3 John 1:2)
God does want us to prosper, but what is Biblical prosperity?
In short, it is knowing and walking with God and bringing forth spiritual fruit.
God can and will bless you with wealth, but with that wealth comes responsibility.
(1 Timothy 6:17–18)
If you are blessed financially that’s not a sin, it’s a stewardship.
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
(3 John 1:2)
God does not heal everyone, but He does still heal today.
4. Coming to Christ is life-changing; continuing with Christ is life-sustaining.
(3 John 1:3–4)
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
(3 John 1:4)
“A good character is the best tombstone. Those who love you and were helped by you will remember you, so carve your name on hearts, not marble.” —C.H. Spurgeon
5. God’s people should underwrite God’s work.
(3 John 1:5–8)
It pleases God when we support God’s Word financially.
(3 John 1:6)
We should not have a discomfort talking or hearing about giving.
The Bible speaks more about giving than prayer or faith.
There are over 2,000 verses on the topic of money, possessions, and giving.
Giving is not just about finances, it’s a test of trust and obedience to God.
We share in the reward when we invest our money.
6. There are real and fake believers in the church.
(3 John 1:9–11)
Ultimately, it is God who will sort out the real and the counterfeit.
7. Be a Demetrius not a Diotrephes.
(3 John 1:9, 12)
Demetrius v. Diotrephes
Had a good testimony. Had a poor testimony.
Respected by all. Rebuked by John for being divisive and proud.
Welcoming and faithful. Kicked people out of the church and drove them away.
1. Walk in truth and love.
2. Support God’s people and God’s work.
3. Be a bridge-builder, not a bridge-burner.
4. Leave a godly legacy.
5. Don’t be a Diotrephes, be a Demetrius.Learn more about this year's Harvest Crusade!

Mon, 23 Jun 2025 - 3662 - How to Be a Father When You're Fatherless | Sunday Message
Pastor Greg Laurie shares a message for anyone who has ever wondered, "How can I give what I never got?" While some never had an earthly father to learn from, our heavenly Father is here to fill what's missing. He helps us break the cycle.
Notes:
Focus verse - Ephesians 6
1. A child from a fatherless home is 68% more likely to use drugs or alcohol.
2. 85% of all youths in prison are from fatherless homes.
3. 63% of teens who attempt suicide are from fatherless homes.
We desperately need fathers doing what god has called them to do.
“A child that is left to himself brings shame to his mother.”
Proverbs 29:15
Passive fathers avoid conflict.
Godly fathers resolve it.
Passive fathers go with the flow.
Godly fathers lead with conviction.
#1 you are not defined by your past.
God can break the cycle of sin in your family.
“If anyone is in christ, he is a new creation.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
God promises to be a Father for the fatherless.
Psalm 68:5
You are always on God's mind.
Jeremiah 29:11
#2 Even if you did not have a father, you can be a good father.
#3 Children are on loan to us for a short time.
“Children are a heritage from the lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”
Psalm 127:3
Children are not ours to keep, but to nurture.
Live in such a way that your child will want to emulate you.
Proverbs 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:1
A good father reflects God’s character.
Psalm 103:13
Read: Ephesians 6:1–4
Train up is a phrase used to describe breaking a horse.
Train up also means to “create a thirst in.”
“and you must love the lord your god with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength. and you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that i am giving you today.”
deuteronomy 6:5–6
“repeat them again and again to your children. talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”
deuteronomy 6:7
#4 Start reading the Bible and imprinting your children early.
“give me a child until he is 7, and i will show you the man.” —aristotle
god is a loving father who loves his children but gives them a free will.
even when they sin against him, he does not stop loving them.
#5 godly fathers don’t have to be biological.
#6 in the church, we can find and be father figures.
#7 leave a godly legacy.
if both mom and dad attend church regularly,
72% of their children remain faithful in attendance.
if only dad attends regularly, 55% remain faithful.
if only mom attends regularly, only 15% remain faithful.
if neither attend regularly, only 6% remain faithful.
you may be fatherless today, but you have a father in heaven.
a father in heaven who loves you unconditionally.
“for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.”

The Water, the Blood, and the Spirit
Incarnation is the doctrine that Jesus was fully God and fully man.
You don’t just know about the truth… you feel it, sense it, and live it.
Do you have the Son?
1 John 5:12
Jesus is not a step in the process.
He is the whole process.
#3 Standing in Victory
1 John 5:13–21
Confidence in salvation gives you confidence in prayer.
Prayer isn’t about getting what we want; it’s about aligning with what God wants.

The bible tells us, “To take up the whole armor of God.”
Hebrews 13:2
Read 1 John 4:1–3
#1 We are in a spiritual war.
Antichrist will be a real person, a world leader; he will deceive the world.
John was refuting Gnosticism.
Gnostics believed salvation came through “hidden spiritual knowledge,” not Christ.
To be a Christian, you must believe that Jesus was born of a virgin and was God among us.
He was fully God and fully man and He died on the cross for our sins.
He bodily rose again three days later, and He will come again.
The purpose of 1 John was so we could know God,
and so you could know you have eternal life.
I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God,
so that you may know you have eternal life.
1 John 5:13 (NLT)
John uses the word ginosko for 'know'.
John is saying, “there is no secret knowledge, you can know this now.”
#2 God is bigger and greater than everyone and everything.
1 John 4:4
God is greater than Satan, greater than sin, greater than your problem.
A. Moses at the Red Sea
God said, “I will fight for you, you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14
B. David and Goliath
Goliath was big, but God was bigger.
C. The disciples on the Sea of Galilee
Jesus was bigger than the storm.
#3 If we really know God, we will love others.
1 John 4:7–11
#1 God is light.
1 John 1:1–2:2
#2 God is love.
1 John 2:3–4:21
#3 God is life.
1 John 5
Light and love are inseparable, as are truth and grace.
Light exposes darkness.
Love reaches out to the people in darkness.
#4 God’s love is greater than our worst fears.
I John 4:18
This is simply having the confidence that you are loved and forgiven by God.
He lovingly will guide your life and one day welcome you to heaven.
If you are living in fear, especially fear of judgement,
you have not yet grasped what it is to be loved by God.
Jesus absorbed God’s wrath for you.
#5 God will never stop loving you.
Romans 8:38–39
Fears change with the passing of time.
God has something to say to us at every stage of life.
#6 Our love for God is a response to God’s love for us.
1 John 4:19
God’s love is what draws us to Him.
We’re remembering that love moved in, and fear had to move out.---

There are some ways to tell if you’re really walking right with Jesus—John lays it out for each of us. But even if you aren’t, we’ll see how to handle that as well. Listen in and get your spiritual checkup now.
Notes:
Focus verse - 1 John 2
Read 1 John 2:1–6
#1 How’s Your Walk?
1 John 2:1–6
Sin is serious, but Jesus is our Advocate.
It’s not if you sin—it’s when.
The question is, “How will you respond?”
Read 1 John 2:3–4
Are you walking toward Jesus? Are you alongside Him?
Or are you name dropping as you walk the other way?
Propitiation: the means by which sins are forgiven.
Read 1 John 2:7–11
#2 How’s Your Heart?
1 John 2:7–11
Sometimes it’s easier to love a God you can’t see than it is to love the person next to you.
Anyone who claims to live in God’s light and hates a brother or sister is still in the dark.
1 John 2:9 (MSG)
Redemption means giving the love you never received, because God gave it to you first.
The compassion Christ showed you is the same compassion you’re called to show them.
If your heart is constantly cold toward others, if your instinct is to isolate, criticize, or cut people off, or if you cling to your grudge like an emotional support animal, maybe it's not them—it's you.
Read 1 John 2:12–17
#3 What’s Got Your Heart?
1 John 2:12–17
Your spiritual health is not a matter of perfection, but direction.
Jesus isn’t saying that having wealth is the problem.
He’s saying being owned by it is.
There’s nothing wrong with having possessions, as long as your possessions do not possess you.
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
