This week, Pfirter welcomes East-Berlin native MASCHA to the airwaves. With over a decade of immersion in the underground circuits of both Berlin and Mexico City, MASCHA has cultivated a sound defined by surgical precision and hypnotic intensity. Her style bridges the raw, industrial grit of her hometown with the soulful, driving lineage of 90s Detroit techno. Recently, she made waves by expanding the genre's boundaries through a live collaboration with the National Orchestra of Guatemala, proving her ability to command both the sweat-soaked dancefloor and the grand concert hall. For this 70-minute journey, MASCHA delivers a masterclass in tension and release. Featuring heavyweights like Oscar Mulero, Planetary Assault Systems, and Rødhåd, the mix is a tightly structured descent into the deep, rhythmic techno that defines the MindTrip aesthetic. April's episode on the MindTrip Podcast welcomes Los Angeles techno flag-bearer David Flores aka Truncate. David was introduced to the electronic music world at a very young age, DJing across Southern California. His producer career started a few years later with his first records under his David F and Audio Injection monikers on labels like Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings while in 2011 he launched his own imprint, also named Truncate. Since then, he had countless EPs and singles on platforms like Token, Hotflush Recordings and Blue Hour. The 55th edition of the MindTrip Podcast, comes from the west coast of USA and it's courtesy of Drumcell. Real name Moe Espinosa, he has was born in San Gabriel Valley, a culturally diverse neighborhood that still breeds inspiration for his work. San Gabriel Valley is also where he and the Raíz brothers, Vangelis and Vidal, met and founded Droid Behavior in the early 2000s which lead to the infamous Interface warehouse series and launch of the techno label Droid Recordings. He has a long history as a dj and producer of original and remixed tracks on his own label Droid as well as on CLR, Electric Deluxe, Dystopian, Torque, Detroit Underground, and much more. In 2016, Drumcell debuted his ambient project HYPOXIA on his experimental label BL_K NOISE. Inspired by science fiction soundtracks and the sounds of artists like John Carpenter, Wendy Carlos, Goblin and Vangelis. Hypoxia was created to step away from the dance floor and into a broader space of contemplative drama. Drumcell explores and discovers the analogue world as much as the digital world of music production, to finally combine them into his very own raw, suspenseful and hypnotic style just like he perfectly expressed it on his debut mix for the MindTrip podcast here. Label boss Pfirter returns to the MindTrip Podcast with a very special mix. Episode 32 features a continuous mix of 11 tracks taken from Pfirter’s new album The Empty Space. In Juan Pablo’s words - The biggest magic of making music is what i call "the empty space", which is not a place but a state of mind. A state of focus and attention purely into music and creation, which can relate a lot to meditation in a way, and works together nicely. I've mainly worked during nights on this project, in order to create a more isolated environment which allowed a good flow and no distractions. I decided to name the album "the empty space" not only because of this "creative state of mind" or whatever you want to call it, but also as a reminder to myself of how important it is to accept and embrace this moment, and to try to live in this state for as long as possible. It's not just about music creation but about life as a whole. - 'The Empty Space' throbs with a vital pulse that acutely transcends all categories and genres, and once again Pfirter adroitly recombines techno's DNA into something truly and definitely his own.
