Things I Never Said To Myself

Things I Never Said To Myself

Tafadzwa Mazonde

These stories are vulnerable, authentic experiences that have allowed me to see myself in different ways. I started this podcast to help people who have gone through trouble getting to know themselves see glimpses of their reflections in my journey. My greatest hope is that in listening to 10 minutes of this show every week, you may slowly begin to know yourself more, love the person you are and start telling yourself things you never did. I hope you find a piece of yourself here. Enjoy

  • 14 - Collective Solitude

Hey everyone! It has been a while (I know). I've missed you all.

First of, sorry for leaving you hanging. A lot has been going on, and I explain just what in this episode. I talk about how I’ve been feeling in the last few months, and how it has helped me to view loneliness and sadness in a refreshing light. Collective solitude is the idea that we are all alone in this life thing together, a weird source of solace.

Again, I hope you see bits and pieces of yourself in my experiences. May this show help you heal, know and love yourself better.

  • 13 - A Special Flavour Of Adversity

I used to think the worst moments of my life were the ones I needed to forget. I was wrong.

In this episode, I go back to some of the memories I'd rather not revisit: being snubbed for an award I wanted badly, failing so publicly at something I loved that I nearly quit it for good. I talk about why those moments still sit with me, and why, looking back, I wouldn't erase a single one.

This episode is about adversity, the kind that shapes who we become. I talk about a tournament that humbled me, a JFK quote that's stuck with me for years, and why some seasons of life are supposed to hurt.

This isn't advice. This is a confession.

I hope you find pieces of yourself here.

  • 12 - The Infinities of Life

It took me a year to come back to this. Not because I ran out of things to say, but because I wasn't sure I had anything left worth saying.

In this episode, I talk about something I've come to realize has quietly shaped every choice I've ever made: the idea of infinity. Not the math kind. The kind that shows up in the way we love people we know we'll lose, the way we chase goals that stop mattering the moment we reach them, the way we scroll for hours looking for something that was never going to be there.

We all have infinities we're chasing, whether we realize it or not. Some of them are worth it. Some of them are quietly wasting our lives. This episode is about learning the difference.

This is the conversation I've been sitting with for months. I hope it makes you sit with something too.

I hope you find pieces of yourself here.

  • 10 - Nice Knowing You

This is it: the final chapter of Season 1. Nice Knowing You isn’t a goodbye; it’s a pause to breathe and to look back at the words we’ve spoken, and the silences we’ve shared. In this episode, I unpack what it has meant to hold these conversations with myself, and with you, week after week.

It’s a reflection on self-discovery. Thank you for listening, for showing up, for hearing the things I never said. This isn’t the end, just the end of a beginning.

  • 9 - Worth is a Boundary

In this episode ofThings I Never Said to Myself, I talk about a difficult feeling that has taken me on a rollercoaster journey: rejection.
From missing out on a sports award after leading my football team for a year to navigating unequal expectations in relationships, I share how these moments shaped my understanding of worth. Over time, I’ve come to see worth as a boundary, one I now fiercely protect. I decide the rules. I decide the value.

Because no one should ever have the power to change how much I mean to myself. I hope this helps you heal.
