- 41 - Stephen A. Smith got a seat at Trump’s table. But what did anybody else get?
Stephen A. praised the conversation. Bill Maher defended the dinner. Then Trump called the evening a “waste of time.” D.L. Hughley has a response—and it’s not a thank-you note. On Episode 56 of Uncertain, D.L. takes on Stephen A. Smith’s White House dinner with Donald Trump and the difference between getting access and getting something accomplished. A steak, a photo, and an invitation don’t automatically add up to influence. Then there’s Bill Maher, who says Trump treated him well. D.L.’s question: Since when did good table manners become the standard for a good president? Being nice to your dinner guests doesn’t answer for how you treat everybody else. Plus: Barack Obama and Trump’s contrasting messages, Nicki Minaj’s support for Trump, and the Florida youth-soccer controversy involving a 3-year-old player and a call to police. D.L. takes on what happens when a child’s talent becomes the adults’ problem. Sharp jokes. Hard questions. And another Stephen A. take that D.L. refuses to let pass. Did Stephen A. influence Trump—or did Trump know exactly how to make Stephen A. feel important? Sound off below. Share this episode and subscribe to Uncertain with D.L. Thu, 29 Oct 2026 - 40 - She Backed MAGA—Then Got Booted From Ken Paxton’s Event
She drove two hours to support Ken Paxton—then says she was shown the door. So much for the welcome committee. Black MAGA influencer Thelma Louise says she was escorted out of Paxton’s San Antonio campaign event despite her outspoken support for Trump and the Republican Party. Her disbelief? Loud. D.L. Hughley’s response? Buckle up. On Episode 55 of Uncertain, D.L. takes on political loyalty, the difference between supporting a movement and being accepted by it, and the question hanging over this encounter: What did all that loyalty get her? The reason for her removal remains unclear—but D.L. has plenty to say about the fallout. Plus, Dennis Rodman, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather’s support for Trump comes under fire, and D.L. follows the money behind corporate subsidies, taxpayer-funded stadiums and the billionaires cashing in. Thu, 29 Oct 2026 - 39 - Stephen A. Smith found the courage to address me, but not Trump! LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
Stephen A. Smith is loud but lacks courage. He says he went to Trump’s dinner for HBCUs. D.L. Hughley asks a different question: Who got played? In this episode, D.L. takes on Stephen A. Smith, Bill Maher, and Kid Rock’s dinner with Donald Trump—and the idea that a seat at his table means you’re making a difference. Was this speaking truth to power, or did it give power exactly what it wanted? Stephen A. said protecting HBCUs was his priority. D.L. presses the point: What did that conversation deliver—and why should the black community accept anyone’s word without receipts? Meanwhile, Bill Maher is back at the table, and D.L. Questions whether Trump is collecting critics like trophies. When your peers criticize you, it’s war. When Trump insults you, is it dinner? Makes that make sense. Also in Episode 54: • Kohen Wiley: Mississippi’s attorney general says the police shooting that killed the 1-year-old was justified. D.L. demands accountability—and asks why the public still hasn’t seen the footage. How does a suspected diaper theft end with a baby dead? • Katie Zacharia and the “merit” argument: A White House press secretary is out after five days. D.L. Aims for double standard over qualifications, Sean Hannity’s defense, and who gets grace when things go wrong. • Abdul El-Sayed confronts a heckler: D.L. examines why Muslim candidates are expected to answer for extremism before they can answer questions about governing—and who gets to run without that burden. Sharp comedy. Hard questions. And no participation trophies for getting invited to dinner. Did Stephen A. use his access—or did Trump use Stephen A.? Tell us where you stand in the comments. Thu, 22 Oct 2026 - 38 - Angela Rye Wants MORE From Obama?! D.L. Says HELL NO!
Barack Obama gave America eight years. Does he owe us the rest of his life, too? Angela Rye believes Obama should be doing more. D.L. Hughley has a problem with that—and he’s getting into ALL of it. On Episode 53 of UNCERTAIN, D.L. pushes back on the expectation that the first Black president must remain permanently on call. What about the work Obama DID do? The criticism he faced while doing it? And his right to finally enjoy his wife, his daughters and a life that doesn’t revolve around fixing America? D.L. doesn’t believe Angela is being vindictive. But good intentions don’t put an argument above scrutiny. If we’re going to discuss what Obama owes us, shouldn’t we acknowledge what he already gave? When does holding someone accountable become asking them to carry us forever? Then, the conversation turns to another Black trailblazer under scrutiny: Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. As Donald Trump renews his effort to remove her over mortgage-related allegations she denies, D.L. takes on the double standards around qualifications, character and who gets the benefit of the doubt. Plus, Pete Hegseth’s push for a publicly broadcast firing-squad execution sparks an uncomfortable debate about punishment, spectacle and a country where even death can become content. Sharp punchlines. Hard questions. And a conversation about who America expects to keep giving—and who it keeps giving a pass. Tue, 20 Oct 2026 - 37 - Stephen A. Smith: FIRST TAKE, WRONG TAKE—D.L.’s Had ENOUGH!
Stephen A. Smith has another take. D.L. Hughley has had ENOUGH. After Stephen A.’s comments about Lane Johnson’s mental health, D.L. asks: When does “speaking your mind” become talking out of your ass? On Episode 52 of D.L. Hughley’s Uncertain, Stephen A.’s microphone stays hot—and so does the backlash. From athletes’ mental health to his commentary on Black women and politics, D.L. takes aim at a bigger problem: a culture that rewards the loudest opinion, regardless of how informed it is. Is Stephen A. saying what he believes—or has controversy become the business model? And when the apology comes, what actually changes? Then, D.L. revisits the Da’Vinchi slavery conversation with a history lesson America keeps trying to skip. Slavery ended. Jim Crow, redlining, racial violence and discrimination didn’t disappear with it. As D.L. puts it: “Slavery might’ve ended, but racism was working a double shift!” Plus, an Arkansas Medicaid ad features a white man as the face of government assistance—and some conservative critics have a problem with the casting. D.L. goes straight at the racial double standard behind who gets called “lazy” and who gets called “struggling.” Sharp comedy. Uncomfortable questions. And plenty of people who should’ve thought before they hit record. YOUR TURN: Does Stephen A. owe audiences more accountability—or is the outrage exactly what keeps people watching? Thu, 15 Oct 2026 - 36 - Ben Crump’s Next Move: New Evidence in Nolan Wells’ Death | D.L. Hughley
Ben Crump brings new evidence in the Nolan Wells case—and D.L. Hughley has one question: HOW MANY ANSWERS DOES THIS FAMILY HAVE TO FIND THEMSELVES? New cellphone findings. Unanswered autopsy questions. A family still fighting to understand how their son died. In Episode 48 of UNCERTAIN, D.L. takes on the evidence presented by Ben Crump’s team—and challenges whether authorities have done enough to get to the truth. For D.L., this goes beyond one investigation: What happens when a grieving family has to keep pushing the very system responsible for finding answers? “These cases don’t feel unsolved. They feel unprioritized.” Then D.L. turns to Brandon Tatum’s commentary about Nolan Wells, his “dry drowning” explanation, and his clash with Terrell Owens. If you’re making claims about somebody’s dead child, D.L. wants to know what you can actually back up. From Mississippi to Cornell University, the question gets bigger: WHO GETS THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT—AND WHO HAS TO BEG TO BE BELIEVED? D.L. weighs in on the reopened investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving Cornell fraternity members and Sunny Hostin’s controversial comments about the case. “Good family.” “Bright future.” “So much potential.” He challenges why those words keep becoming part of the conversation when privileged young men face serious allegations. Why does a defendant’s future matter so much after someone else says theirs has already been harmed? Plus: the Tasia Fortune arrest update, judges who give second chances. And stay tuned to see DL and the teams talk about the online criticism of Jasmine Guy’s appearance that sparks a conversation about aging, beauty, and how women get judged. Whew!!! Fri, 02 Oct 2026 - 35 - What happens when an artist says “Free Palestine” on one of the biggest stages in America?
Macklemore was dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour—and then every remaining supporting act walked away. Ed says it was the promoters. Macklemore points to billionaire Patriots owner Robert Kraft and powerful venue owners. D.L. Hughley follows the money, the pressure and the excuses to ask the question nobody wants to answer: When billionaires control the buildings, do they also get to control who speaks? Then D.L. turns to the Lindsay Clancy mistrial, where one Black juror refused to join the other 11 jurors prepared to acquit the Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three children. Why did the juror face more scrutiny than the woman on trial? And how did sympathy for Clancy grow so large that three dead children nearly disappeared from the conversation? D.L. also reveals how his public feud with Killer Mike finally ended—and why two outspoken Black men choosing reconciliation may be one of the episode’s most important moments. This episode is about courage, accountability and the people who refuse to surrender their judgment just because everyone else in the room has already agreed. Who showed more courage: Macklemore, the artists who walked away—or the lone juror who refused to bend? Watch, comment and subscribe to UNCERTAIN with D.L. Hughley. Fri, 02 Oct 2026 - 34 - LINDSAY CLANCY: WHO GETS MERCY WHEN A MOTHER KILLS?
Lindsey Clancy admitted to killing her three children. Her trial ended without a verdict after 11 jurors reportedly believed she should be found not criminally responsible because of mental illness. Now women across the country are rallying around her—seeing a mother failed by the mental-health system rather than simply a defendant accused of an unthinkable crime. But D.L. Hughley asks the question America cannot keep avoiding: Would a Black mother receive this same compassion? Latarsha Sanders, a Black Massachusetts mother with documented paranoia and schizophrenia, was convicted of killing her two sons and sentenced to two life terms without parole. Her convictions were later overturned after the state’s highest court ruled that crucial mental-health records had been wrongly withheld from her jury. Remarkably, both cases came before the same judge. This is not about excusing either tragedy. Five children are dead, and their lives cannot disappear beneath sympathy for the adults. This is about whether race influences which mothers are viewed as sick, which are branded monsters, and whose mental illness the justice system takes seriously. D.L. also weighs in on Stephen A. Smith’s explosive fallout after appearing on Jemele Hill and Cari Champion’s podcast. Stephen built a career challenging everyone else—but when Black women challenged him, he accused them of mishandling the interview and demanded the unedited footage. You can’t start the fire and then file an insurance claim. Finally, as America marks 25 years since September 11, D.L. honors the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the survivors and families still living with the consequences. Newly released records also raise painful questions about what officials knew concerning the toxic air around Ground Zero—and why the truth took decades to surface. Who receives compassion? Who receives accountability? And whose suffering does America decide matters? Watch, share, and subscribe to Uncertain with D.L. Fri, 11 Sep 2026 - 33 - PROJECT 2025 IS HERE—AND TRUMP VOTERS ARE LOSING HEALTHCARE!
In Episode 41 of Uncertain, D.L. Hughley connects the dots between Medicaid cuts threatening working families, Louisiana criminalizing homelessness, attacks on public education, and politicians using culture wars to distract voters from policies hurting their own communities. This isn’t just politics. It’s healthcare disappearing, poverty becoming a crime, and vulnerable Americans paying the price while the powerful call it “reform.” Was Project 2025 a warning—or the blueprint America is now living through? Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 32 - DL Hughley Exposes the Business of Attacking Black Women
Why has attacking Black women become everybody’s favorite pastime? Laura Loomer launched a racist tirade against Angie Nixon, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and other powerful Black women. Brandon Tatum went after Michelle Obama’s appearance—and dragged DL Hughley’s wife into it. Different messengers. Same tired target. DL breaks down the ugly pattern behind these attacks: Black women are mocked when they speak, degraded when they lead and judged when they refuse to make themselves smaller. This isn’t political debate. It’s racism, misogyny and manufactured outrage dressed up as “free speech”—because disrespecting Black women still generates clicks, influence and money. DL also examines the tragic death of Haitian college student Pierre Damas Bel after he was forced to wear an ICE ankle monitor, the disturbing string of suspicious hanging deaths across America, Ryan Clark turning an ESPN exit into a major Netflix win—and Hunter Biden’s latest interview that leaves one unavoidable question: What was in that pipe? Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 31 - TARGET, KEEP YOUR APOLOGY!
Black women warned Target. We organized. We boycotted. We took our money elsewhere. Target still refused to hear us—and now the same company that gutted DEI somehow approved a children’s costume evoking blackface and minstrel imagery. That wasn’t one person’s “mistake.” That costume passed through design, marketing, photography, merchandising, legal and corporate approval—and apparently nobody in the room had the courage or cultural awareness to say, “What the hell is this?” Target says it’s sorry. Viola Davis isn’t accepting the apology—and DL Hughley isn’t buying it either. Because when Black women tell a corporation it has abandoned us, why does it take public humiliation before anybody pays attention? DL also goes in on Hakeem Jeffries’ secret meeting with Jared Kushner, Black and Brown communities abandoned without power, America’s reckless trade war with Canada, dangerous food recalls and surveillance cameras that always seem to see Black people—but never protect us. This episode asks one brutal question: How many times must Black people prove we matter before America starts acting like it? Watch Episode 39 of UNCERTAIN with DL Hughley. Mon, 31 Aug 2026 - 30 - BRANDON TATUM CAME FOR MICHELLE OBAMA—DL HUGHLEY SMOKED HIM!
Brandon Tatum called Michelle Obama ugly—and DL Hughley is about to give him all the smoke and show him what ugly really looks like: desperation, hypocrisy, and begging for white approval in public. In Episode 38 of Uncertain, DL tears into Tatum’s obsession with attacking Black people for applause, then turns to Stephen A. Smith, who says his critics still haven’t produced the “receipts.” Oh, the receipts exist. The question is whether Stephen A. is finally ready to read them. But the outrage machine doesn’t stop there. MAGA wants America terrified of transgender athletes while families can’t afford groceries, healthcare or damn near a hot dog. Enes Kanter Freedom gets thrown out of a WNBA game after provoking Natasha Cloud—and somehow a man with a reported $500,000 bounty on his head decided this was the fight worth having. Then Zohran Mamdani funds children, protects workers, goes after bad landlords and invests in struggling communities—leaving DL to ask the question Christian politicians won’t like: Why is a Muslim mayor doing a better job of following Jesus than they are? Plus, Abdul El-Sayed confronts Jesse Watters over manufactured culture wars, Hunter Biden sounds off on war, and DL exposes the oldest political hustle in America: keep people angry about imaginary threats so they never notice who is picking their pockets. This episode is ruthless, hilarious and guaranteed to offend exactly the right people. Mon, 31 Aug 2026 - 29 - HEY TRUMP VOTERS… HAPPY NOW?
The military is dealing with turmoil. ICE keeps pushing the limits. The DOJ is facing questions over wrongful investigations. Public-health concerns are resurfacing. Thousands of Ethiopians could lose deportation protections. And overseas, Iran and the Strait of Hormuz are adding another potentially explosive problem to the pile. This week on UNCERTAIN, DL Hughley looks at the growing trail of Trump administration controversies and asks a simple question: At what point does “winning” start looking a whole lot like losing? Trump sold America strength, order and control. DL takes a hard look at what America actually got—and why some of the people who bought into the promise may now be living with the consequences. And DL speaks about the possibility of sitting down with Killer Mike to have a bigger conversation about Black America: Can we disagree politically without questioning whether the other person loves our people? Wed, 26 Aug 2026 - 28 - DL Hughley Calls BS On Stephen A. Smith's Outrage!
Stephen A. Smith is furious after the NABJ called out what it says is his recurring pattern of disparaging prominent Black women. But DL has a question: Where was all this smoke when Donald Trump came for YOU? And Stephen A. running to Sean Hannity to complain about Black journalists? Oh, DL has something to say about THAT. From Serena Williams, Kamala Harris, Jasmine Crockett and Joy Reid to his battles with Black athletes and HBCU supporters, DL looks at the pattern behind the controversy—and asks whether Stephen A. has confused being loud with being right. Then somehow Candace Owens starts making sense while battling Andrew Wilson over the Charlie Kirk case. Yes. We know. Hell may need a coat. And finally, the laughs stop. After 29-year-old Tasia Fortune was found hanging outside an abandoned house in Mississippi, DL asks why Black Americans are repeatedly told not to jump to conclusions when history gives them every reason to demand answers. Authorities had not classified Fortune's death as suspicious at the time of the rundown, and an autopsy was pending. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Fri, 21 Aug 2026 - 27 - Lindsey Graham Did More for Who?
This week on Uncertain, DL Hughley opens the mailbag — and then closes the beaches. After the death of Nolan Wells on Horn Island and a summer of Black men turning up in trees and rivers with "no foul play suspected," DL makes the case nobody wants to say out loud: part of Jim Crow had a point. Marriage? Fine. Family reunions? Fine. But no swimming, no camping, no hiking — because we never lose white people, and there’s a reason for that. From the mother who had to track down her own son’s phone, to officials who "don’t want to be rushed," DL, Jasmine and Austin ask why there’s never a sense of urgency when Black children don’t come home. Then it’s ICE killing a man in Maine who wasn’t even the target of the warrant — no body cams, no accountability, and a batting average that would get anybody else fired; Amy Coney Barrett wanting a bulletproof vest in the country her Court armed ("you made guns easier to buy than Sudafed"); Mitch McConnell missing so long DL can’t tell if he’s dead or alive — with the finest insurance in the world, the kind he spent his career denying you; and Lindsey Graham’s eulogy problem: to eulogize means to speak well of — of what? DL closes with the World Cup, why every great team in Europe is stocked with the descendants of the colonized, why the road to the World Cup final runs through the Blackest city in America, and a shanked golf shot hit on purpose — for Charlie’s boy, on the eighth anniversary of his old man’s passing. Thu, 16 Jul 2026 - 26 - Weekend at Mitch's — Somebody Check on Mitch McConnell
America turned 250 and celebrated the only way it knows how: a few hundred masked white nationalists riding the Metro to the Capitol. DL breaks down white supremacy on a budget — racists take the train too — why you can't tell the Patriot Front from the ICE agents (they shop at the same store, and they mask up for the same reason), and the cosmic karma of MAGA families sheltering from the storm inside the Black History Museum. Then the question nobody at the White House would answer: on the nation's birthday, white nationalists marched on the Capitol — and the only people who won't denounce white supremacists are white supremacists. Plus Michael Dell's wife hits the White House, and DL learns what the "Lago look" is. Then it's the World Cup: Trump personally called FIFA and got Folarin Balogun's red card lifted — for the first time in 60 years — to save a striker who only exists because of the birthright citizenship he's trying to abolish. He fought to remove a red card for a man he wouldn't give a green card. From there: Trump's golden eagle and the Nazi bird it looks suspiciously like, Marco Rubio's big shoes, Graham Platner, Susan Collins, and the party that hates socialists more than it hates rapists. DL asks the question everybody in Kentucky is whispering — is Mitch McConnell having a Weekend at Bernie's? — before getting serious about Nolan Wells, the Mississippi teenager who went out on a boat with his white classmates and never came home, Kohen Wiley, and Marcellus Wiley's Fourth of July arrest. Thu, 09 Jul 2026 - 25 - Clarence Thomas Is the Stephen A. Smith of the Supreme Court
DL is back and nobody is safe — not the Black Trump supporter who cornered him at a Chicago bus stop (and missed his bus AND the point), not Clarence Thomas, who DL calls “the Stephen A. Smith of the Supreme Court” after his 91-page dissent in the birthright citizenship ruling, and definitely not Megyn Kelly, who claims “we built this country” when her family didn’t clear customs until the party was over. As the Supreme Court hands down its 6-3 decision on the 14th Amendment, DL flips the script: if we’re closing the gate, let’s close it at 1868 — which means Stephen Miller, Vivek Ramaswamy, Brett Kavanaugh, and half of MAGA’s loudest voices are packing their bags. Then it’s on to the Court’s trans athlete ruling, JD Vance getting glazed on Bill Maher, Stephen A. Smith toasting Maher at his Mark Twain Prize like one professional you-know-what to another, and Mamdani putting every mayor in America to shame while the Knicks bring a title back to New York for the first time in 53 years. Plus: DL falls asleep everywhere but on the issues. This episode is sponsored by: Shopify — Start your business today with the industry’s best partner. Thu, 02 Jul 2026 - 24 - Austin Metcalf's Dad Says Black Jurors Can't Be Fair — DL Hughley Isn't Having It
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley opens on a president who started a war but can't clean a pool — the vandalized reflecting pool, the peroxide, and what it says that the country swearing it can beat Iran can't beat algae — before getting into the "two Americas" gap between the detective who called DL back about a storage locker and the bank fraud nobody ever called Alex about. From there DL, Jasmine, and Alex take on Jeff Metcalf's post-verdict media tour and the racial double standard buried in jury selection: the claim that only one kind of person can be fair, the preemptive strikes used overwhelmingly against Black jurors, and the long roll call — Fanny Willis, Letitia James, Sunny Hostin, the Black judge in the Botham Jean case — that proves Black America has never had a problem meting out justice to its own. DL breaks down the CDC data that buries the absent-father myth, then turns to the bigger question on the week America turns 250: Eddie Glaude saying out loud that he doesn't love this country, the Fourth of July lie we all agree to tell each other, and what it means to love something the way you'd love an abusive parent — the only one you've got. Then it's Bill Maher calling the Obama library a "monument to arrogance," and DL explaining why, in an era of erasure, that building might be the only proof this man ever existed — and why Black people are, in fact, going to hike. Thu, 25 Jun 2026 - 23 - "Where the Black Fathers At?" They're Winning Championships
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley spends Father's Day making the case nobody wants to hear: every time somebody asks "where are the Black fathers at," the answer is Jalen Brunson winning a Knicks championship with his own father right beside him. From Jeff Metcalf's comments about Black dads to Boomer Esiason and the "respect the office" crowd, the Karmelo Anthony verdict and what "stand your ground" was really built for, a one-year-old shot by police in Mississippi over diapers, ICE policing the World Cup, Tony Hinchcliffe, Stephen Miller, and an honest conversation about Black and Jewish solidarity — DL, Jasmine, and Alex break it all down. Then DL gets to the throughline: America started a war with Iran, walked away holding the bill while everybody else took the money, and still found time to remind us whose humanity counts. Same question every time — why couldn't you just mind your business? Thu, 18 Jun 2026 - 22 - DL Hughley GOES OFF on Spencer Pratt, Bill Maher & Stephen A. Smith
DL Hughley is back, and this week the Temu Trump came for LA — and LA said no. DL breaks down Karen Bass's primary win over Spencer Pratt, why Los Angeles was never going to elect a mayor named Spencer, and how a city bigger than 40 states became the target of a DOJ investigation for counting too slow. Plus: the homelessness money nobody can find, who's really stealing it (hint: it ain't poor people), and why rich people don't want to solve homelessness — they just don't want to see it. Then DL torches Bill Maher for being the only comedian thirsty enough to take a Mark Twain Award from a man who got Colbert canceled, goes in on Stephen A. Smith for speaking up for the Knicks but not the people, and asks what context Nick Cannon could possibly be missing. And in the wake of the Karmelo Anthony verdict, DL lays out what stand your ground really means — and who it was built for. Thu, 11 Jun 2026 - 21 - They Held a Moment of Silence for Derek Chauvin?!
DL's back in New York at Gotham Podcast Studio — a wall of liquor, a Knicks/Spurs/Giants debate nobody asked for, an Odell Beckham story that ended the second money came up, and Alex catching strays over a dude-wipe ad. Plus a shout-out to Jay-Z for still being slick, still relevant, and still holding onto all that hair. Then the heavier stuff: one last word on the Kevin Hart roast — Gary Owen, Joe Rogan, the whole Rogan tree — set against the Minnesota GOP's moment of silence for Derek Chauvin and what George Floyd still means. From there, Vivek Ramaswamy's Ohio run, the Kaepernick-vs.-Jackson-Dart "political" double standard, Pete Hegseth and "white affirmative action" running the Iran war, Ken Paxton vs. Talarico in Texas, Karen Bass and the LA mayor's race, and Trump's 250-year party that no act will touch — except Vanilla Ice, Flo Rida, and a booking agent named Epstein. Thu, 04 Jun 2026 - 20 - Kevin Hart Protected Everyone Except His Own People
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley pours one out for Rob Base before getting into the most contentious writers' room the show has ever had. Two weeks in, the panel still can't let go of the Kevin Hart Roast, and DL stakes out the unpopular ground: a comedian should never apologize for a joke, let alone one he didn't tell. But Jasmine, Austin, and Alex aren't having it — if Hart cut 18 jokes to protect everyone from Melania to the military to Tony Hinchcliffe, why was George Floyd the one line he wouldn't draw? Tom Brady stopped his own roast. Hart had the power and chose the numbers. From there, DL breaks down Cheyenne Bryant and why a Black woman with a PhD still gets asked for her credentials the way Tucker Carlson asked Ketanji Brown Jackson for her SAT scores. Then the throughline lands: the LA mayor's race pitting Karen Bass against a game show host, why homelessness lives wherever the billionaires do, and why this administration's one real accomplishment is showing exactly how much this country will tolerate — if you're white. A nigga can't even wear a tan suit. DL says it plain: infamy is better than fame, and somebody always cashes the check. Fri, 29 May 2026 - 19 - Take My Name Out Your Mouth, Fat Ass' — DL Hughley ENDS Big Jay Oakerson
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley pays tribute to Barney Frank — the first openly gay congressman, a Freedom Summer volunteer, and a civil rights champion whose passing marks the end of an era — before turning to the death of Mark Fuhrman and what his career revealed about the LAPD, the most deadly police department in the country. From a sheriff's department gang that recruits from the South to the Rampart Division's reign of corruption, DL connects Fuhrman's legacy to a city built on quiet brutality, and asks why a president who can't feign empathy went silent after the San Diego mosque shooting. The conversation then turns to the Kevin Hart Roast, Tony Hinchcliffe's recycled George Floyd joke, and Big Jay Oakerson's decision to take a swing at DL — a swing DL returns with interest. From there, DL breaks down why five-star Black athletes need to stop running to SEC schools that disenfranchise their families on Monday and cheer for them on Saturday, why NIL money should travel where Black communities are respected, and why the Trump administration's reparations fund for J6 defendants has accidentally opened the door for the strongest restorative justice case Black America has ever had. Eminent domain, Bruce's Beach, Bob Jones, Seneca Village, and a mountain in Calabasas that used to have a name no one should ever say out loud — DL lays out the receipts and says it plain: get your money, man. Go get it. Thu, 21 May 2026 - 18 - Fighting for America While America Fights Us
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley unpacks the Kevin Hart Netflix Roast and why putting Tony Hinchcliffe on stage to tell a seven-year-old George Floyd joke wasn't edgy — it was the plan. DL breaks down how the original Dean Martin roasts came from people who actually liked each other, how the MAGA crowd that called for Jimmy Kimmel's head over a Charlie Kirk joke suddenly discovered free speech when a dead Black man was the punchline, and why "Kevin Hart said it was okay" doesn't make it okay. Plus a long-overdue conversation with Charlamagne tha God about nuance, the "couch as an option" era, Killer Mike's prosecutor talk while his daddy wore a badge, and how telling Black folks both candidates were trash helped get us exactly where we are. Then DL gets to the through-line: America has never fought a war where it didn't also find time to fight us. Black men died next to white men in Vietnam jungles but couldn't use the same bathroom in Georgia. We helped beat the Axis and came home to Jim Crow. Right now we're bombing Iran to stop them from getting a warhead while the South is rolling back our ballots. DL makes the case that young Black athletes should gerrymander Alabama's offensive line the same way Alabama gerrymandered the congressional map — because without us, the SEC is rugby. Plus the writers' room goes off on a "JD Yakub" devil's-advocate bit about colonization, the top 20 genocides, why the only thing that's killed more people than the European white male is the mosquito, and why China builds bridges in places America abandoned. Thu, 14 May 2026 - 17 - The "Smartest People" Were the Easiest to Fool
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley and the crew break down why Spirit Airlines might be the purest reflection of modern America: chaotic, underfunded, loud, and somehow still functioning. From “you get there when you get there” customer service to aisle fights, baggage fees, and airport survival stories, DL explains why flying Spirit feels less like air travel and more like entering a televised social experiment. What starts with an unusually quiet Cinco de Mayo in Los Angeles spirals into conversations about cable-news chaos, viral political arguments, internet experts suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect, and why everybody suddenly thinks yelling on television counts as intelligence. The conversation then turns serious as DL dives into celebrity political influence, the erosion of voting rights, and America’s long history of using famous Black voices to help sell policies that ultimately hurt Black communities. From Stephen A. Smith and Killer Mike to Nixon-era politics, Reagan, Clarence Thomas, and the backlash to Barack Obama, DL argues that the country keeps repeating the same playbook while pretending each version is brand new. Along the way, he reflects on Ted Turner’s legacy, why cable news became professional wrestling, and what happens when a nation stops learning from history and starts treating dysfunction like entertainment. Thu, 07 May 2026 - 16 - No Bad Soldiers, Only Bad Officers
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley borrows from Napoleon to diagnose what's wrong with this White House: there are no bad soldiers, only bad officers. And right now, the officers are cosplaying. DL breaks down Pete Hegseth running a war he can barely wear the uniform for, JD Vance lecturing the Pope, Linda McMahon bringing WWE energy to the Department of Education, and Kristi Noem getting walked after a $2 million makeup budget. The Peter Principle, live and in color. Then DL gets into the Iran conflict that was supposed to be quick—and why you can't run a simple war with simple minds. Plus: James Comey getting indicted over shells in the sand while the Epstein list stays buried, the FCC trying to muscle ABC, Bill Maher accepting the Mark Twain Award from a president actively trying to kill comedy, the strange Kirk widow press tour, and why anything with Trump's name on it is going to age like a Vanilla Ice album. Fri, 01 May 2026 - 15 - Political Violence Is More American Than Apple Pie
In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley breaks down why political violence isn't a glitch in the American system—it's the operating system. From Andrew Jackson getting jumped on the Capitol steps to the 13 attempts on Obama's life, DL takes you through a history this country tries hard to forget. He gets into King Charles coming to America to give us a civics lesson on a Constitution this administration treats like toilet paper, and what it says when an actual monarch has to remind us nobody is above the law. Then the conversation turns to the White House ballroom incident and why nothing about that night adds up—from the Secret Service walking past a man with a gun to Caroline Leavitt's eerie warning three days before. Plus: Russell Brand's casual confession to Megyn Kelly about a relationship with a teenager when he was 30, why legality isn't morality, Jim Jordan running Epstein oversight while named in a misconduct lawsuit, and why this administration cares more about firing comedians than releasing the Epstein list. Thu, 30 Apr 2026 - 14 - The Liquor Cabinet is Drunk on Power
On this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley breaks down Tucker Carlson’s sudden apology—and why the only people surprised by Trump were the ones who wanted to be. Then it goes off the rails. From Trump’s reported attempt to access nuclear codes to the DOJ trying to drop charges against Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, DL dives into what happens when power protects itself. The crew also gets into Kash Patel suing over reports of drinking on the job, RFK Jr.’s comments about “re-parenting” Black children, and why Sean Hannity suddenly found religion—but not accountability. It doesn’t stop there. DL unpacks Joe Rogan influencing policy from a podcast, Trump being called everything from the “chosen one” to the Antichrist, and a Defense Secretary quoting fake Bible verses like it’s real scripture. Add in AI replacing jobs, Palantir pushing mandatory service, and a system that feels like it’s breaking in real time—and the question becomes: is this dysfunction… or design? Thu, 23 Apr 2026 - 13 - Trump Called Himself Jesus… And It’s Getting Worse
On this episode of Uncertain with DL Hughley, DL breaks down Trump’s viral “Fake Jesus” moment—and why MAGA drawing the line at a cartoon says everything about where we are right now. DL gets into what Jesus actually looked like, what he actually stood for, and why Trump couldn’t be further from either. Then the conversation takes a serious turn. DL dives into the escalating conflict with Iran—why this isn’t Iraq or Afghanistan, how American hubris keeps putting us in the same situations, and what’s really at stake with the Strait of Hormuz, fertilizer shortages, and global food supply. And it only gets crazier from there… From viral “Lego” propaganda videos getting banned, to JD Vance lecturing the Pope on scripture, to the growing list of political hypocrisy—DL breaks down what’s really happening behind the headlines. Plus: Trump at a UFC fight during global tension The “DoorDash grandma” White House moment The Eric Swalwell controversy vs. Trump’s inner circle Why 80% of American women say they’d rather run into a bear than a man No filter. DL dives into what the U.S. actually gained (or didn’t), the dangerous rise of misinformation, and why America might be looking more like a rogue nation than a global leader. This week on Uncertain, DL Hughley reflects on the legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson and what America has lost — moving from real protest to performative hashtags — while breaking down how independent Black journalists like Don Lemon are being targeted and why mainstream media won’t challenge power the way it should. He takes aim at Donald Trump's war on Mark Kelly, Trump's weaponization of the FCC against his enemies, Stephen A. Smith’s political ambitions, and explains why Black women remain the true kingmakers in American elections. From the misuse of government agencies to the chilling silence surrounding the Epstein files, DL confronts a system that protects the powerful while punishing truth-tellers, asking the question at the heart of it all: if the evidence is everywhere, why does accountability never show up? Thu, 12 Feb 2026 - 3 - We're Being Robbed Blind!!!
This week on Uncertain, D.L. Hughley tears into the political, cultural, and moral chaos of a country being robbed blind in plain sight. From the Super Bowl backlash over Bad Bunny and the fragility of America’s culture wars, to former Trump supporters and podcast personalities suddenly shocked by the consequences they helped unleash, D.L. breaks down how selective outrage and short memories keep repeating history. He dives into ICE raids, masked enforcement, the criminalization of journalism, and the Epstein file drops—asking why accountability stops at the door of power while children, protesters, and reporters pay the price. The episode closes with “This Nigga Right Here”, as D.L. delivers a ruthless, no-holds-barred takedown of Kyle Rittenhouse and the industry built around turning outrage into a paycheck This episode is sponsored by Kalshi: Click the link http://kalshi.com/r/uncertain or download the Kalshi App and use code UNCERTAIN to sign up and trade today! Thu, 05 Feb 2026 - 2 - When the Right To Bear Arms Becomes "Terrorism"...
In Episode 2 of Uncertain, D.L. Hughley kicks things off by breaking down Kanye West’s apology tour—questioning antisemitism, the political leanings of CTE, and what accountability really means when history, ego, and politics keep getting rewritten. He then turns to the Minneapolis ICE raids and the killing of ICU nurse Alex Pretti, exposing how “domestic terrorism” and the right to bear arms are defined differently depending on race, protest, and party. With razor-sharp humor, D.L. dismantles media spin, political hypocrisy, and America’s ever-shifting moral line. And to bring it all home, This week on “This N*** Right Here"… Dean Cain.
